Sent emails missing spaces
Hi i am currently using Apple Mail 2.1.3 to send and receive emails. Pretty much since the day i have been using this all my clients have complained that when they receive emails sent from me a lot of the words are joined together and missing spaces. But looking in my sent box they look fine to me.
having tested this a bit further in my office i am the only mac user but my colleagues use a PC and have no problem with sent emails.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
thanks,
Martin
Hi i changed the font to a standard default (arial) but no suck luck still. I can't have plain text emails as company policy to have a coloured footer.
Here is an example of how one of my clients received an email i sent them. Again most of my clients have this problem with me.

Sent emails missing after ios 5 upgrade
After upgrading to ios 5, all sent emails are missing from my iPad 1.
From what I recall, I updated all of my apps first. After attempting to sync the updated apps to my phone, I got a message stating something like "The app Numbers cannot be synced to this device". I made a few more attempts at syncing with the same result, I decided to just update the OS and maybe things will work again. After upgrading to iOS 5, I was able to reinstall numbers, but all of my spreadsheets were gone.
Ruining my phone sounds less than ideal. Any ideas? -
I have a brand new iPad mini. I'm finding that SENT email do not seem to get saved. At least I can't find them. Im familiar with the iOS 5.x interface on my iPhone and where to look for SENT emails there. Is there something different about iOS 6? Or is this a glitch? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Are you sure it was sent and not in your drafts?

Sent email missing attachments
Since I upgraded to OS 10.4.11 I have been having a problem with my emails to others missing the attachments. They swear my attachment is not there although it is marked 'sent' on my side and I get no error or bounce back from any servers. When I go back to make sure I attached the item it is there in my mail. These are small image attachments that should not hit size limits (630k-5mb). This is embarrassing! It seems to be intermittent (mailing to the same person, sometimes they get it sometimes they don't) and only happens when I send to people on PCs from my MAC. Any advice? Is it my problem or their problem?
the next time that this happens, can you get one of these recipients to save the inbound mail message as "raw message source" including full headers and send it to you? then see whether there are some lines of text just beneath the headers that look similar to this:
--Apple-Mail-17--507881185
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset=US-ASCII;
format=flowed
This is a test
--Apple-Mail-17--507881185
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Type: image/tiff;
name=galaxy.tiff;
x-unix-mode=0644;
x-mac-hide-extension=yes
Content-Disposition: inline;
filename=galaxy.tiff
{start bunches of random characters that are the ascii-encoded file attachment}
also, are there any lines in the actual header that indicate that either the sending or the receiving server stripped off the attachment? -
Sent Email - Missing Text in Body
Recently Mail.app has started displaying some very strange behavior when sending email. My account is Exchange based. About 25% of mails that I send are ending up delivered with no text in the body of the email. There does not appear to be a pattern to which emails end up stripped of message text. When I look in my sent mail the email message is also missing the body text even though I definitely had text originally. Any ideas?
OK, have you installed any fonts lately?
Open Mail>Preferences>Fonts & Colors, what is the message font & fixed width font sent to, try changing them & see what shows up.
Also, I can't delete an email.
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15667/applejack
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process. -
The sent items folder has disappeared from my POP3 email account on my E75. Where will I find my lost emails?
This is not an Exchange account or a gmail/yahoo type account.Hi there...I hope nobody will be mad for activating this old post.Thing is I have same issue. I understand why it happens but don't know how to deal with it.When ever I have mail on mine provider’s server, all mail boxes (sent, outbox, drafts) are visible on E75.If I download all e-mails from that inbox from the main server I empty it by automatically deleting messages from that inbox after they are received with main personal computer. So it is standard POP mail. What happens with E75 is that it will sync with inbox, it will se there are no messages in the inbox, and it will delete all received mails downloaded on the phone. That is something I don't understand how to change, and how can that be normal behavior? When E75 empties it’s own inbox (inbox folder on the phone) then all the folders like sent items, outbox etc are not visible and I can't reach them. Again when I receive email to inbox on the phone then I see all the folders again with all sent items and other mail folders. How to change behavior of the E75 to act like standard basic e-mail client like Outlook express that downloads messages to phone, but leaves copy on main server like it does now, and keep all downloaded messages in the phone until I delete them? Or how to get access to all mail folders (sent, outbox, drafts) when e75 e-mail inbox is empty?
Thx for any help. -
All sent emails are missing from the Thunderbird 'Sent' folder following import, but Sent folder still shows a count of the imported emails (Thunderbird considered them to be unread when importing them, hence the count). The messages are also visible online (BT Internet email) and on other devices (Android running BlueMail). Settings are set to place copies of sent items into Sent folder. Having imported all my old email, I can send email but again they do not appear in the Sent folder (but do appear online and on other devices). I have tried compacting the Sent folder and i have tried repairing the folder. All other folders (Inbox, other newly created folders) show the email i have imported.
If I move an email online from the Sent folder to another test folder, it syncs and appears in Thunderbird in that test folder. If I then use Thunderbird to move the email back from that test folder to the Sent folder then Thunderbird will do so, but locks up for a good minute or so while doing that.
Running TB 24.6.0 on Windows 8.1, incoming server set to IMAP on mail.btinternet.com (port 993), outgoing server set to SMTP on mail.btinternet.com (port 465).
Help gratefully received!Cheers for that, Mulder.
It did seem to recover some emails which had disappeared from Mail, but not all of them. That's the frustrating thing - short of going through my Yahoo webmail accounts and logging every single email, and then cross-referencing with what's on my desktop, I just can't be sure what's there and what's not!
Sometimes it's immediately clear that something is awry - the folder I use for emails from my girlfriend is completely empty, for instance, when I definitely had things in there before the weekend. (Yes, again I went away for the weekend, with the computer still running - and Mail on - and again I returned to discover emails missing.

I've been using me.com since 2008, back then it was a paid service. When the time came, I switched to iCloud, no problem, I enjoy the service. Recently I need to find some sent emails during the period of mid-2011 then I realized that my "Sent" folder only records sent emails from May 2012 (which I think around the time I switched to iCloud, perhaps June 2012). Older emails are MISSING. I'm using Mail in my iMac but when I tried to login to www.me.com or www.icloud.com, and accessed my "Sent" folder, it's the same. Strangely enough, my emails in "Inbox" (both in my iMac & at the server) are intact, only those in "Sent" folder are missing.
Anyone has any idea what's going on? Is there a chance I could get my old emails (pre-May, 2012)? Thanks.I've been using Mail (currently 4.6 (1085)) to handle all my emails including my Gmail account. Yes, I did migrate, I remember changing some settings through the web but I don't recall changing things in my Mail setting. Perhaps, I did, I'm not sure. I attach a screen capture of my Mail settings:
Yes, it's foolish to have no backup. I've been using TimeMachine with TimeCapsule for quite some time now. I think I switched from MM to iCloud around June 2012, when it was close to deadline. Does my attached picture answer your question about the server setting? -
Has anybody experienced missing sent emails after updating their iPhone to IOS 5.0? Mail composed on phone appears to send but is never delivered nor does it show in sent items. Using Exchange 2010. Any thoughts??
@Satterp
Not sure if you were responding to me or OP - my iPhone is on 5.1. The OP at the time of writing was on 5.0.1.
Also, the OP and I had setup our Hotmail as an Exchange server (similar to IMAP), not POP3. -
Hi
it's my first time writting a topic here, but I just want to know if I am the only stupid in the world suffering this problem.
I have configured my Mobileme IMAP account on mail Mail.app 3.6
I have changed the smtp server with the configuration of my office email, so when I send an email it seems I do it from my office email account.
Until there everything works perfect.
But, every now and then, when I send an email, it won't be saved in the sent folder. It is actually sent (because I have answers to the email) but it just won't appear in the sent folder.
This is very inconvenience to me, because sometimes, the sent email is the proof of e.g. a booking or whatever, and I need the email ....
I have been fighting against this problem for months, and I don't know if this is a Leopard problem, a Mail.app problem, a Internet connection problem, a general IMAP problem, a configuration problem , a mobileme problem...
A couple years ago, I used to use entourage as mail software, and I don't remember having this problem, although I don't remember either if the account was configured as an IMAP account.
I have partially found a "solution" setting me always as a Cco, and making a rule that all emails coming from my address have to be moved to a folder I have created (sentbackup). So I always have a copy, but this is just more trafic, more space,...
Is this happening to anyone alse? do you experts know what could be the problem?
I would really apprecite if you help me on this

Sent iCloud email missing!
Help! I have sent an email, and recepient confirmed that he got it, but it is not in my Sent items. Email vanished from Mail.app! I did not delete it, I did nothing to it, it just never laned in my Sent items!
Why is this happening? Can this be prevented?
To answer some possible questions; yes, I do have Store Sent Emails on Server option and no, my iCloud storage is not full.Vanishing sent-mails is a serious issue that's plaguing Mac users since Snow Leopard, yet has never been addressed, let alone solved, by Apple.
For instance, see this lengthy discussion that started in May 2011: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3065096?start=0&tstart=0
Rather than playing Russian Roulette with my messages I chose to abandon the unreliable Mail.app and payed 10 bucks to get Postbox, which is a good and reliable alternative. -
Sent emails disappeared after rebuild
When I try to view sent mail from one of my accounts in Mail, I've been seeing "The message xxx concerning “xxx” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it." Checked the size of the box and it was at 1.1 GB, so I deleted a bunch of emails with attachments, but that didn't help after re-opening the application. Following the advice of a post here, I tried to rebuild that mailbox, and the emails all vanished. Tried finding them in Home/Library/Mail/SentMessages.mbox, but the sent mail files there are very small (20 KB), nowhere near the 400MB I was at when the emails disappeared.
I also discovered that there are two, near-duplicate folders for this account in the Mail folder: one contains a trailing space after the name; dates created 3/25/2005 and 1/18/2006, both last modified today. I'm using POP on OS 10.3.9 and have tried re-importing the mailbox, but got nothing. I still get the message about downloading the message from he server when I try to view Sent emails from this account....
Can anybody help me get those sent emails back in their folder? Thanks in advance--What appears below is what I would have posted if it wasn’t because of the weird duplicate account folder you mention. You may be able to figure out which of the two account folders is Mail using to store your mail by looking at the modification dates of the mailboxes it contains rather than the modification dates of the account folders themselves...
<hr>
It looks like you have the problem described in the following article:
Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty
As you can see, letting a mailbox grow indefinitely is a really bad idea — and it appears to be too late now to solve the problem doing what the article suggests. If this is a POP account, you may be able to fix it as follows:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/.
3. Locate Sent Messages.mbox and move it to the Desktop.
4. Open Mail. A new empty Sent Messages.mbox will automatically be created within the account folder, and this will allow you to continue using Mail normally while trying to solve the problem.
Although Sent Messages.mbox appears to be a file, it’s actually a special kind of folder (a package) that contains several files. Ctrl-click on Sent Messages.mbox and choose Show Package Contents from the contextual menu to see the files it contains. Of these files, mbox is the most important and is where all your messages are stored. What’s the size of that file? Depending on its size, you may or may not be able to directly import it back into Mail in the next step.
An Incoming_Mail file may also be present, in which case it might contain messages that Mail couldn’t transfer to mbox. Incoming_Mail is also a standard mbox file like mbox proper, just named differently, and can be imported back into Mail in the same way.
5. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes and follow the instructions to import the Sent Messages.mbox that’s on the Desktop. I’m not sure what the import options available in Mail 1.x are, but you should choose Other / Standard mbox or something like that, so that Mail looks at the mbox file only (and Incoming_Mail, if present) and ignores the other files in the package.
If Mail doesn’t let you select Sent Messages.mbox in step 5 because it’s a package instead of a plain folder, rename Sent Messages.mbox to just Sent Messages (i.e. remove the .mbox suffix) so that it becomes a normal folder, and try again. You cannot do this directly in the Finder because removing a suffix by normal means causes the Finder to hide the suffix instead of renaming the file. To remove the suffix from the name, you must do File > Get Info (⌘I) on the file and change the name there.
If the mbox file is too big for Mail to handle it, however, you’ll have to break it into smaller pieces. You can do that with an MBOX Breaker Script available at Allan Sampson’s website, or with Emailchemy. The former will ignore the Incoming_Mail file that I mentioned previously, but you may try importing that file directly if it’s not too big or just ignore it if all your messages are in mbox. Also, if you removed the .mbox suffix from the name of the mailbox, you may need to add it back again for the script to recognize it.
If all is well and you don’t miss anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library. -
How do I retrieve "lost" sent emails?
Whilst attempting to rectify problems with my wife's mail program in Tiger 10.4.11, on her PowerBook 6.8 12" G4 laptop, I reduced the time from "Never" to "One Week" before sent emails are erased, believing that this would reduce the storage required on the ISP's server.
Instead I find that all old outgoing emails older than one week, are no longer available on her 12" G4 laptop, and my life has become ****.
How do I get Mail to display the "lost" outgoing emails?
The last backup of this machine was about two months ago, so I need to find and restore/import at least the past couple of months of outgoing emails, which have been erased.
Advice please.Unfortunately, it sounds like the missing messages have actually been erased. You might want to download the free trial of this software to see if anything is recoverable. I don't have any personal experience with it.

Snow Leopard 10.6.1 IMAP Sent Messages Missing! Where are they?
I upgraded to 10.6 from 10.5 and everything was fine apart from push to the iPhone! In an effort to get it all working I decided to do a clean install, so backed up my mail accounts (which should now be in one place in 10.6) and everything else + made disc image etc. However, after doing the clean install, and reconnecting the backed up email accounts, I can only see the mails in the inbox. There are no emails in the sent messages! I have looked in the mail account folders and can’t see anywhere that sent messages are stored. I have also since the clean install created new users and sent emails to see if anything arrives in that users mail store, and nothing comes in that I can see, but they can see the newly sent message in their sent folder! Only sent messages prior to the re-install are missing. I have the old install of the server backed up, so I can access them if I knew where to get them from.
Where are sent messages stored? It looks like they are going to some other location on the server rather than the specified location in mail prefs.
Has anyone else experienced this, or have any advice.
CheersHi, I used ditto (as root) to back up all the folders from /var/spool/imap/dovecot/mail/ and then to restore them – however, they are now in a new location on a separate drive which the mail prefs are pointing too. I have checked to see if anything is going into /var/spool/imap/dovecot/mail/ and nothing is there – which is correct.
I have also checked permissions and they are fine.
If this was a brand new install it would all be working as normal – I can see new sent messages, just not the old ones or old folders that users might have made.
However there is no folder in the UID’s called Sent Messages – even with new accounts! The only folders are "cur" (received mails), "new" and "tmp". I have no idea where the sent messages are being saved too (old or new)! I was expecting a folder within the UID’s with the sent messages inside.
