Sent emails not stored  in Sent Mailbox

My outgoing emails are apparently being sent (I hear the swoosh, and spot checks with the recipients confirm the delivery,) but the outgoing emails are no longer copied into my Sent Mailbox.
Any ideas, please?
Thanks,
Ricardo

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.

The combo update for Intel-based Macs...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Repair Permissions after re-install, then reboot again.
If all the above do not resolve the problem, then it's time for an Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

  • Why are sent emails not stored in the Sent Items folder in iOS7

Why are sent emails not stored in the Sent Items folder?

    Thanks, Matt.
I'm now starting to notice the emails that don't come in order are all posted from sites that use multiple platforms to send the same message; email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm thinking the hold up is possibly at their end.

  • Sent email not stored (on IMAP server)

    Hi,
I browsed through a lot of discussions and found that a lot of other people are having the same problem.  I still couldn't find a solution to my problem in these discussions though.
My Mail app (6.0) is set to 'store sent message on server' and never delete it.  I selected the correct folder (left pane) to 'use this mailbox for' sent emails in the 'Mailbox' menu.
Still, when sending an email, it is not saved in the 'sent' mailbox and I can't find it on the webmail either.  It is delivered to its receiver though.
I called my ISP and they are telling me it is my Mail application (can be right, as it works perfectly with Thunderbird).  Apple is telling me it is my ISP...
Meanwhile, I still have this issue and I realy would like to use Mail instead of Thunderbird.  Please help.

ok, problem solved.  It seems this was a problem with my ESP not granting full acces or writing privileges to Apples Mail application.  I was tired of this provider anyway for multiple reasons; so I switched.  Now it works fine.

  • BPEL Workflow email not stored in database!

    Hi,
I'm using SOA Suite 10.1.3.4. I have a worklist application where notifications are sent to Assignees, Approvers when the action is Assign or Approve. The mails are delivered as expected. But there is not trace of emails sent. I checked WFNOTIFICATION in ORABPEL Schema. The tables are empty.
Could anyone help me in fixing this issue.
    1. Why email notification sent are not stored in database?
    2. Is there any other means that we can track the email sent?
    3. Do we need to configure in SOA server to store the email notifications in the database.
    Thanks in advance.

  • I emailed a document and it is not showing up in my sent mailbox?

I sent several emails of a document saved on my adobe reader app on my ipad and they are not showing up in my email under the "sent mailbox".

Reader doesn't really control the emailing of a PDF file. It simply hands off the file to the default Mail application which sends it off.
Can you email from another app? Have you checked your Mail settings for the particular email address you're using?

  • TS4002 on my iPad, when I check the "sent" mailbox, I see Emails from 2007, not the latest ones. This problem does not occur on my iPhone or MacBook

On my iPad, when I check the "sent" mailbox, I see Emails from 2007, not the most recent ones. This is not a problem on my iPhone or MacBook.

    Nobody knows? Not even administrators?
Please it would be really nice to have help on that to take all the benefit of the remote app.
Thank you very much in advance.

  • Sent mail occasionally not stored in sent folder

    Hi,
we encountered weird problem with OS X server behaviour where user sent email via smtp server and it is not stored in his/her mailbox.
This issue is happening time to time I would say almost randomly.
Do you have any idea why this is happening and where is the sent mail?
I picked a case and gathered relevant logs:

I have a few users reporting the same problem. It is inconsistent and I have not found a way to reproduce it at will.
Our users have been BCC them selves so they have a copy to move to sent it if is not there.
They have also reported mail being copied to the Send and Drafts folders when they send it.
When they login from a different mail client the folders are the same. So I am assuming the problem is server side? Or at least the result is.
Is it the clients job to ask the server to move the mail from outbox to the sent folder?
I think this is where the problem is occurring.
We were looking at it this morning and moving mail around from Drafts to Trash and Sent. Mostly it moved around fine but there was one instance where we moved mail from Drafts to Trash.
We then quit and opened mail again (we waited until the activity window was empty)
The mail we moved to Trash was gone. But a new mail was in Drafts that had been sent earlier that morning. A copy was still in the Sent folder.
    We could not reproduce this.
We also have roundcube but it is the mail.app clients that notice the problems. They are the majority so it is to be expected.
    Clients OS X 10.10.2, mail.app 8.2
    Server 4.0.3, OS X 10.10.2, Roundcube 1.0.3 (Topicdesk Roundcube Installer 1.0.3a)

  • Why are my sent items not stored when sending from Apple Mail?

    Hello Apple Support Communities,
I am Using an iMac at my place of employment. It is running OSX Yosemite v10.10.2 . I am also using Apple Mail to connect to our Exchange 2010 Server. I do the same with my iPhone, iPad, and Windows Laptop using Outlook 2013. For a while now, several months in fact, It turns out that any emails sent from my iMac using Apple mail will not store a copy of it in my sent items on the server. They are not stored in the iMac account, the iPhone, the iPad, or Outlook on my Windows Laptop. However, any email sent from the other devices will have a copy stored in the sent items folder and it will propagate to all of my devices.
Upon investigating, I found myself looking through the tracking logs of my Exchange Server and found that Apple Mail and the iPhone send messages completely differently. I think this might be the source of my problem, but I have no clue whether I can fix it, or even where to start. Here is an image depicting the logs. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you for your time!

Sometimes this issue is caused by a misconfiguration or incompatibility of the Exchange server, or perhaps by a bug in Mail. If so, you won't be able to resolve it yourself. The fact that your iOS devices may be working well with the same account isn't relevant, because iOS uses a completely different protocol (ActiveSync) to communicate with Exchange servers. By default, OS X Mail uses the EWS protocol.
Each of the following steps has been reported to help with Exchange issues, at least temporarily, in some cases:
    1. Back up all data. Open the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and check to make sure you don't have duplicate Exchange accounts. If you do, delete all but one of the duplicates. If there are no duplicates, delete the account and recreate it with the same settings. The messages will still be on the server.
    2. Rebuild the affected mailbox.
    3. Reindex messages.
    4. In the Keychain Access application, delete the password item for the account. The next time Mail tries to access the account, you'll be prompted for the password. Check the box to save it in the Keychain.
    5. If you've created subfolders of any Exchange mailbox, log in to the server through its web interface, move the messages out, and remove the subfolders. For best results, a mailbox should have no subfolders.
    6. Synchronize with the server using IMAP rather than EWS. This is only possible if IMAP is enabled on the server.
    7. Consider using Outlook instead of Mail to access your Exchange mail.

  • Sent Messages are not saved in Sent Mailbox

It was working correctly but suddenly all my sent messages are not saved in the Sent Mailbox. I follow all the Mail Help instructions but nothing seems to work. Hope that someone can help me. I asked for help on december 14 but it was not helpful

The mailboxes drawer contains all mailboxes under In, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk (if you have Junk Mail set to automatic).
If you have a .Mac or IMAP type account, you also have an account named icon for the .Mac or IMAP type account at the bottom of the mailboxes drawer. It is named by the Account Description you provided/entered for the account under the Account Information tab for the account preferences.
If you select save Sent messages on the server for a .Mac or IMAP type account, the account's Sent mailbox will be available under the account named icon in the mailboxes drawer along with all other server stored mailboxes.
To open the account named icon for your .Mac account to reveal the server stored mailboxes including the account's Sent mailbox, select the black triangle beside your .Mac account icon in the mailboxes drawer pointing it down.
Select the account's Sent mailbox and at the menu bar, go to Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For and select Sent.
If you deselect store Sent messages on the server for the account preferences, the account's Sent mailbox will be available under Sent in the mailboxes drawer and you can't use "Use This Mailbox For" for mailboxes stored locally on the hard drive. It can only be used for .Mac or IMAP type account mailboxes that are stored on the server.

  • In my MacBook Pro "sent" mailbox emails are listed by my email address but on my iPad the "sent" emails are listed by the sent email address?

On my MacBook Pro in the "sent" mailbox emails are listed by my email address but on my iPad the "sent" emails are listed by the sent email address.  Very hard to look at the address where the message was sent to?

After upgrading to IOS 7.0.3 the problems gone.
There is no mention of this being a bug or a fix so im thinking a software glitch was the issue.
When I look at a message in my inbox and it says "To: JB Manz" - I click my name and it shows my contact info including my 4 email addresses and the address the message was addressed to is highlighted blue, others all black.
Not sure how it got fixed but it's working like it used to.

  • Is there a way to fix 'Sent mailbox could not be created?'

I have OS 10.8.5 and am using Mail as the mail program, since November. I have not had this problem before.  I have four accounts in mail, iCloud, Gmail, Roadrunner and Earthlink.  The main one i use is Gmail.  Today i noticed that there was an exclaimation point next to my Gmail Sent mailbox.  i opened the mailbox and it showed only one sent message that i sent earlier today.  There should have been a few months of mail in the mail box, maybe 30 to 50 messages.  i clicked on the exclaimation point and the message said:
The Sent mailbox could not be created on the mail server.  The local "Sent Messages (Gmail) mailbox was created instead. Mail has changed your account's Mailbox Behaviors preferences to use the local "Sent Messages (Gmail)" mailbox.
i don't know what this even means.  My other account mailboxes have their mail in them, only the Gmail mailnbox is not created (although it does have that one message in it).  There wasn't anything different i did that would change any preferences that i know of.  I see the Gmail Sent messages mailbox at the bottom of the mailbox list and the missing messages are there, but instead of listing the name of the recipient under a To: column, instead there is a From: column, and my name is all that is listed. There is no To: column.  I need to know who the messages were sent to if i need to search for one later. i want the recipient to be idendified in the header, as it is in my other Sent mailboxes.
There is one thing that happened right before this occurred.  I got a brand new Time Capsule and replaced my very old Airport Extreme with it. I didn't change anything. i just replaced the old base station with the new one, keeping all settings, network names and passwords the same, i just switched the hardware.
After setting up the Time Capsule, when i checked my email, i found this problem with my Gmail mailbox missing.
I found this problem raised in a few other postss on these discussion forums, but there was little or no discussion on the threads. None of them mentioned a new Time Capsule. i'm hoping someone who reads this can say what might have caused this and where the mail box is, and how to get it back.

Glenn--thanks for the reply.  I think i tried your first suggestion---i highlighted the Gmail account Sent mailbox and went to the Mailbox menu, went to 'Use this mailbox for,' but all of the four options were grayed out (Sent, Junk, Trash, Drafts). i tried highlighting (or selecting) other mailboxes in the column on the left, including the ones on the server and the ones 'on this mac.'  No matter which one i selected, the options were grayed out. Do you know why they would be grayed out?  Am i not understanding what to do, or is there some other reason?  i'm in Classic mode, in case that matters as to what's in the left column.
I have not yet tried disabling the Gmail account. i was going to, but when i went to Preferences > Accounts > Gmail, i saw and remembered that i had changed one of the settings not long ago, a week or so--where it says "Use only this server" under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) i had unchecked 'use only this server,' since none of the other accounts had that checked.   So i rechecked it and am wondering if that would protect against what happened.
I feel nervous about disabling the account and removing it from Mail and wanted to ask you, will everything come back when i re-enable it?
    Thanks

  • Sent messages do not appear in Sent mailbox

Using a pop account, when I send a message it disappears. It does not send and it does not appear in my Sent mailbox.
I know it does not send because no one receive the email.
I have tried rebuilding the Sent mailbox.
I have tried selecting the Sent mailbox and then using the mailbox menu to set sent mail to go there, but this option cannot be selected (it's faded out) in the mailbox menu.
This is driving me to distraction...

While trying to find a solution, I am discovering my mail problem is much deeper than just messages not appearing in the "Sent" mailbox.  I have found some of them appearing in the "Trash" mailbox and some appearing there mulitple times, often with my account name in the "TO" field.  I'm also finding some unread mail there that should be in the "Junk" mailbox.  So it would appear there are many problems with ISO 7 and mail.  I have tried deleting and restablishing the account and two complete iPhone restores.  Neither helped. What is the biggest puzzle is that on my second iPhone, the one that upgraded without an error, mail is working perfectly well.  Has anyone found a solution to any mail problems on ISO 7 devices?  If so, please reply.

  • Is it possible to create a new "Sent" mailbox stored locally on my Mac

I want to create one or more new "sent messages" mailboxes locally on my Mac.
Mailboxes used for incoming mail have the "From" column visible by default, whereas "sent" mailboxes have the "To" column visible by default.
I have imported several MBOX files containing thousands of sent messages that once lived in Entourage. They are sorted by year and other criteria, so I don't want to mix all these messages with my existing Mail "sent messages" box.
The messages imported perfectly. However, the new mailboxes on Mail are "inbox" mailboxes and therefore the "From" column is visible -- they all show up as being from me -- not surprising, because I sent them, but not helpful. Changing the column in the "View" menu is not a good fix, because it applies the change to all mailboxes. So if I change the column to show "To" then this fixes the problem but causes the opposite problem in all my inboxes -- it shows the messages as addressed to me.
I think I need to define the new mailbox as a sent items box, but I don't know how to do it. I've tried dragging the mailbox to the "Sent" icon in the left side toolbar, but that does not work.
Is there a way to do this?

    DXB Law wrote:
Thanks, but this does not achieve what I want to do. Adding the "to" column means you are adding it to all mailboxes -- including boxes containing inbound mail.
no, that's not true. Sent Mailbox is special and allows column customization independent of other mailboxes. all other mailboxes do have the same columns.
I don't want to do that. While I could have both the "to" and the "from" column active, that uses up too much screen real estate.
I want the locally stored mailbox to behave the same way as a Sent mailbox. Sent mailbox shows only the "To" column and not the from without affecting the view in the other mailboxes.

  • Mail app - sent items do not appear in Sent mailbox?

When i send emails they do not automatically appear in the Sent mailbox - is this a user setting? Surely all sent items should autimatically appear in there?

If you have a free Yahoo account, access from a mail client is not supported, according to Yahoo. It may work sometimes, but not consistently. You need a paid account. A free account is accessible only through the webmail interface.
You might be able to get Mail working temporarily with a free account by logging in to the webmail interface and confirming your identity, if prompted to do so.
