Sent Ipod nano 4 gen. Through the Washer! Help!

When I plug it in to my computer it works fine, charges, and says "Connected". When I take it off, it works for about 6 seconds, then restarts it's self, over and over again! I have tried restoring it from Itunes but I don't want to download the newest version, (I like the one that I have). Can anyone help me?

How long did you let it dry before you connected it to power? If it was less than 5 - 7 days in a cool, dry place, or 3 - 5 in a baggie with raw rice, then it is probably damaged beyond a reasonable repair.
You can try letting is dry for five more days, fully charge it, and try again. If that doesn't work you'll probably need to get a new one.

Yhey,im wondering if there is any way to track down or finf ipod touch 4th gen. through the serial number?

No, the only way to track it is "Find My iPhone". And the app has to be installed and activated before your device is lost.

  • My iPod Touch 4 went through the washing machine

My iPod touch 4 went through the washing machine what do I do????
you can see water through the cameras.

Dry best you can with towel and shaking and then follwo these instructions:

You may have to periodically change the rice.  Do not turn the iPod on or charge it until it is dry.

  • HT3215 Hi, I just got my new iPod Nano 4th Gen. and the screen is blank... It's not on and its plugged into my Mac OS X Mountain Lion. I don't know what to do. Help!?

Hi, I just got my new iPod Nano 4th Gen. and the screen is blank... It's not on and its plugged into my Mac OS X Mountain Lion. I don't know what to do. Help!?

If it is plugged into a USB hub (or the spare keyboard port), try connecting it to a direct USB port.
Also, try doing this Reset procedure, while it is connect to power.

  • My iPod classic accidentally went through the washer. I put it in rice and now it will turn on but it just shows a red X. Am I just out of luck?

My iPod classic accidentally went through the washer. I put it in rice for about two weeks. It will now turn on but only shows me a red X. I plugged it into the wall but I am afraid to plug it into my computer. I don't know if that will have an adverse affects on my computer. Am I just out of luck on this one or is there any way this is salvageable?

Rice is a weak drying agent. You can buy stronger desiccant's that will do a better job of drying out the iPod. But please use caution, these desiccant's can be poisonous, so use caution.
Considering the very high value of an iPod classic I would make every attempt to repair it.  One example is shown below, but there are many types available.

  • IPod takes a trip through the washer and dryer

My 14 year old son left his iPod nano (3rd Gen.) in his jeans pocket and it ended going through the washer and dryer. It now doesn't work. I think it's a definate goner, but he insists I find out whether it is fixable.
Anyone want to take a shot at this one?

Most likely the battery is shot from that cycle. It MIGHT be fixable with a new battery, but it may not be worth it.
http://www.iresq.com/ipod/ will evaluate iPods for only $9 and let you know what it will cost to repair...
    http://www.iresq.com/ipod/detail.php?prodID=P010935
basically you ship it on your dime. They check it out and contact you with the repair estimate. If you decline, they ship the iPod back and you owe nothing more. They keep the $9 of course.
No first hand experience with these guys, but it might be worth the $9 to determine what the repair will cost.
    Good luck,
    Patrick

  • My ipod flashes after going through the wash

My 3rd gen nano  went through the wash last week and i let it sit in a bowl of rice for about 5 days till the water was gone in the screen. This morning i plugged it into my computer and it turned on and synced but the screen was white. About two mintues later it started to flash the screen would go from black to white and still does this when i turn it on. I tried factory resetting by holiding the menu and center button that did not fix it.
    Any ideas what to do?

    Hello hairywombat,
I think you are on the right track with the rice absorbing the H2o. After you drain the battery try the steps here:
    Putting iPod into Disk Mode
Then restore your ipod in itunes if possible. This is what I would do.
    Hope this helps.

  • I have an old ipod that got put through the washer. I want to restore it but i already have a new ipod. How can i restore my old ipod without losing all of my new itunes songs?

I accidently put my old 2nd generation Ipod nano through the washer a few years ago. Well after that it would no longer work do to water damage. After a while i got a new Ipod (the same type) and was able to get new songs to put on it and what not. Well i was playing around with the one i washed opne day and found that i could still restore it on iTunes. However, it wont let me restore it without losing all of my music and what not that i got for the new one. I would like to continue to use the old one, but I am afraid of losing all of my current stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can restore the old and keep the new? I am in desperate need.

    Well, two thoughts.
The battery has completely discharged and will take overnight to recharge, so don't expect much in an hour.
The battery has deep discharged and is now dead. It will never recharge and should be replaced.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:

There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task. Start with Google to search for these.
The flat fee for a battery exchange is, I believe, $99.00 USD.

  • I found Ipod nano 6th gen on the middle of a road In Finland.

Found ipod nano 6th gen 16gb graphite in the middle of a road. was little banged up from the clip side and probably been there the full 20 or so hours the battery lasts. this was at night between 15th and 16th of may.
The text was cyrillic so most likely in russian. Most of the memory had been used.
Is there anyway I can get hold of the owner? I know nothing about apple stuff and there are not much clues in the nano, nor do I know how to read russian so...
    wasted effort anyhows.
I accedently reset the settings when i tried to turn the language to finnish. (which kinda worked though).

Be advised: the Ipod nano has been delivered to police station's lost and found.
If you have lost an Ipod nano 6th in Finland around the time period mentioned above with Russian
language enabled, you should go ask about it from the nearest police station to the place the nano was lost.
    happy summers.

  • My iPod Touch 4G went through the washer and dryer. What should I do?

My iPod Touch went through the washer and dryer. The battery was working, so I turned it on, and surprisingly, the Apple logo showed up, but there were bubbles in the screen. Upon seeing this, I immediately turned it off, and placed it in a bowl of rice. What are some other ways that I can fix the device, either by by taking it to Apple, or another repair specialist?
    Help needed ASAP!!!

Put rice and your iPod in a zipline bag (no air). Change the rice daily. Leave it there for about a week. Try opening your iPod. If it doesn't work, take it in for replacement.

  • HT1339 I have an Ipod nano 5th Gen and the screen has been completely white for quite a while now. The music still plays and you can here the scrolling noise. It doesn't show anything on screen. I've tried everything on apple website to fix it but nothing

    Hello,
My Ipod nano 5th Generation has gone to a white screen. I shows absolutely nothing. When I charge it it does not show the battery charge status. When I reset it I never see the apple logo. When it is on though I can still listen to music and it scrolls through the menus. Can you tell me what is wrong and how do I fix it?

If you have not taken the iPod apart, Apple will exchange it for a refurbished one for $99. You can do it an an Apple store
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    Or sent it to Apple

  • Compatibility of the ipod nano 2nd gen to the dock for ipod classic 3rd gen

Is the ipod nano 2nd generation compatible to work with the old dock for the 3rd generation of ipod classic?

Well it's compatible in the sense that it will work with the iPod as the dock connector is the same.
However, it's way too large and the nano will be nowhere near a snug fit so you risk damage to the delicate connector pins if you are not extremely careful.

  • My iPOD nano just races through the songs

Ok, my ipod, after clicking on any source of music (albums, songs, artists, etc..) shows each song for about one second, without even staying on the song long enough to hear anything. It just goes from song one to two to three to four, etc, extremely fast. It also does not show me any of the pictures for the albums. That is not a big issue for me, I just would really like to listen to my ipod again. Please help me in any way you can.

Try reseting it (by holding the center button and the menu button at the same time)and if that dosen't work restore your ipod from the iPod updater.
