Sent Mail Doesn't Show

I have a gmail account setup for Apple Mail and I sent messages forward to my sent folder on gmail's site but not for Apple Mail. They don't show up immediately or after a few hours of lag. I have my account setup to save sent mails for a month. How can I bring my mail back to it's rightful place in "Sent"?

I'm having the same problem, although it is not with a .mac account, it is with IMAP accounts, which to the best of my knowledge is the server type used by .mac.
The weird part about all of this is that I use several e-mail accounts on my computer... one of them is a POP3, the rest are IMAP. Historically every message I've sent, regardless of the account, has been stored in the Sent folder, now only mail being sent from the POP3 account is being stored.
After unchecking the feature to store sent mail on the server for one of the IMAP accounts and sending a test message from IMAP address to POP3 address everything seemed to be working fine.... but I don't like that I had to do that. One of the reasons I use IMAP is so that I don't have to worry about what e-mails are stored where, because I use multiple computers.... but once I start telling my portable Macbook to no longer store outgoing messages on the server.... that could become a problem for me.
I've tried rebuilding the mailboxes several times to no avail. (Although I'm not entirely sure what rebuild does, I thought it'd be worth a shot)
And yes, my network card settings are just fine.
It might be worth noting that I've done a substantial amount of software updates over the past few days, and if I knew how to get you a list of those, I would.

  • "sent" mail doesn't show up, missing reply emails, sudden "deleted" emails

I have been hving some problems with Mail recently, three issues have become major Pains in the ***:
    1. Just about every 3 or 4 emails that I send from my .mac account seem to go through but a copy or receipt of them don't show up in the "sent" mail folder/area.
    2. If I reply to an email in my in box, it will show the little "you replied to this email arrow icon" but when I click on the arrow, it will say that the message "has been deleted or missing"
    3. Lastly every 3-4 emails - As I am writing the note a window will pop up and say that the "email cannot be saved" but allows me to click "OK" and then continue typing the note and will sent it just fine.
Is there a master reset on Mail or can I reinstall just the Mail program ? ( i really don't want to do that) I ran disk utility and my drive seems to be fine, the permissions are good.
    any help would be great.
    thanks.

  • My sent mail does not show in the sent folder

I can send mail but the mail doesn't show in the Sent mail folder...why is that? I am a Verizon user.

It's fixed...I changed settings Mailbox Behavior to "on the server." Worked for my iPad mini, also.

  • HT201774 my SENT mail does not show up in my iphone

my SENT mail does not show up in my iphone and will not sync with the rest of my mail

IF you are talking about Exchange on Google with Gmail (ie chose exchange and using m.google.com) here is what I did to fix it.
Using your browser, sign into Gmail.  IF, NEAR THE BOTTOM of your folder lists, you have a label(folder) on the left side called "Sent Items" then delete it (mine never had anything in it and i think it's for conversations.)  BTW, I KNOW this is a Junk E-Mail (remember i already deleted my folder) but wanted to show you the drop down and Remove Label option.
Then go to your  Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Exchange -> Mail Folders to Push -> and put a checkbox next to SENT (looks like a paper airplane)
backout, go back into mail -> Exchange -> and you should then see the same paper airplane there.
What was happening with mine was it would show up and then disappear as soon as it synced.  The only thing i can think of is that GMAIL has a folder called SENT xxxxx (that I deleted above) that confused the iPhone and i believe it's for Messages not Mail (via google talk)
Once that was deleted, Voila!  No more missing sent mail.  Also, it has showed up on my iPad again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why Mail doesn't show content of emails?

Since some days Apple Mail doesn't show always the content of an e-mail message. In the window at the right hand of the columns with folders and incoming mail and in the fullscreen mode only the headers (To, From, Subject) are visible, not the content (text, images, attachments). If there is an attachment, I can see that by clicking 'show in Quicklook'.
The problem started a couple of days ago. And sometimes Mail shows the content after receiving an e-mail, immediately after a first view no more.
Rebuilding the mailbox doesn't change this.
Thanks for your suggestions to solve this problem.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Meeting request accepted in Mac Mail doesn't show up in iCal

I am testing out Mac Mail as I am trying to move from Outlook 2007. I sent myself an Outlook meeting request from another machine and it showed up in Mac Mail as an .ics attachment I can open it and accept it, but it doesn't show up in iCal, which through my research on the web it seems it should.
Any ideas why it is not working?

Just a guess, but the item you accepted might be in a calendar category that is unchecked, that is, not being shown.
Make sure Calendar List is viewable (View/Show Calendar List)
On the left side of the calendar is a list of calendars (if they're not visible, click the Calendar drop down).
If there are a few calendars listed (Personal, Work, etc.) make sure they're all checked. Toggling the check box will hide/show the events.

  • Mail doesn't show me the e-mail address

Mail should show me the e-mail address, but it doesn't. I mean.. if I receive a mail from a my friend and Mail thinks it's a spam mail, it put it in the spam directory.
I drag and drop it in the inbox mails, but if I do that, the e-mail address and object disappear!
If I click it, I can see the preview of the mail and the email address and object appear again, but if I try to reply to the e-mail, Mail doesn't know (again) the mail address where to send the reply.. so I need to type it by myself. Is it normal?
    Here a screenshot:
    http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/3755/mailbugig2.jpg

Oh I see... I'm sorry, iGodess, I should have looked at your screenshot first (I thought you meant something else just by reading), I'm really sorry.
Am I correct: You see the name but not the address in the mailbox viewer (the upper part).
What I see in your screenshot is normal. I'm afraid you can't change that, at least I found no way.
What you see in the mailbox viewer is the name of the sender as you would enter it in Mail.app > Preferences > Accounts > choose one account > Account Information > Full name.
If he wouldn't enter anything there, his eMail address will show in place of the (missing) full name.
Your other problem related to replying with no usable address automatically entered: I guess this doesn't happen with all your messages, correct?
Does it only happen with one friend of yours?
If so he might have defined his Reply-To header wrong, which also could be a cause his messages land in your junk folder: Mail.app thinks "this can't be legitimate".

  • Sent Mail does not show anything

I am using two AOL e-mail addresses for my mail. I can receive and send mail ok, but the Sent Mail never shows anything. In Mailbox Behaviors I have checked the box for Store Sent Messages on the server, and for Delete sent Messages, it says Never. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

My nephew has an iMac and he gave me the very easy answer to this question. Just go to Mail, Preferences, Accounts, Mailbox Behaviors, Sent, and uncheck the box that says "Store sent messages on the server".
If you have more than one e-mail address, you need to do this for each one.

  • Search in Mail doesn't show results after Migrating

If I search for a word or an adr. in Mail nothing show up. Unless I've just read the mail. Like that newly read email is the only one being searched in ..?
This happened after moving my user account to a new MacPro with Migration Assistant.
(first a clean install of 10.7 on a new disk in bay 1 on the "new" MacPro and updating to 10.7.5 - Starting up from the new disk with my "old" HD in bay 2 on the new machine and using Migration Assistant to move all my data over to the new disk in bay 1)
Same Mac OSX version, but MacPro version from 1.1 to 3.1
    Also Spotlight doesn't show results.
Is there a way to make a new "search cache" or whatever that overview file is called ...
Suddenly now, when not getting any search results, I see how much I use search in Mail and Spotlight ... !

  • Mail doesn't show new messages

Mail sometimes doesn't show new messages for an IMAP account. The badge in the dock says that there is a new mail but it doesn't show up in the inbox. I'm sure that I didn't just miss it, because, smart mailboxes will not find that new mail as well. When I restart mail, the mail finally shows up in the inbox as well.
Anybody else seeing this and what can I do to resolve that issue?
    Thanks!

I'll bring everyone up to speed on what's been happening with my family accounts. I first suspected Safari, because it seemed to be a local problem, but then, inexplicably, all mobileme mail accounts tied to that family account, which included 4 subaccounts and 1 mail-only account, not only did not work in mail.app, but also failed in other email clients I tested, including clients on Linux. Also, the webmail version was not working well, either.
So, if your problem is isolated to a single computer and just to mail.app, or just with a particular network, then I think the local troubleshooting steps are the way to go.
But, if your problem extends to other platforms, clients, and webmail, then it is likely an issue the engineers at Apple will have to figure out. I found the online chat service for mobileme users to be very helpful in checking through all the 'usual suspects' and after we had pretty much ruled out any of the usual culprits, it was escalated to the engineers, who are working on it now.
They were able to release all the email that had been piling up, but there are still some glitches they are trying to iron out. As an aside, I have been personally managing various mail servers for a dozen years, and am well aware of the difficulties in diagnosing email problems, and it was stumping me, and I have intimate knowledge of Exim and Exchange and various email modules used with mx services.
+While this 'should never happen', it's unrealistic for users to expect it never will. Of all the services provided on the Internet, email, is arguably the most complex service and it's become much more complex in the past few years. In my work, typically 94% of all email traffic hitting the server is filtered out as spam. So, the 6% that is allowed through is the stuff most of us see and are spending time and resources filtering out the 20-40% additional unwanted spam that the host let through because if they tightened it down any further the risk of false positives would become too great. I spend way more time on the mail service aspects of my job than the web services, and mail problems occupy at least 80% of my troubleshooting logs. So, while email seems more 'simple' than the exotic and bandwidth intensive services like video chat, voip, and web2 transactions, compared to the amount of wasted bandwidth and cpu cycles filtering packets, I think email is the number one problem service for most host providers. We tried to depend upon it for mission-critical communications, and it was never designed for that initially, and the spammers are making certain it won't achieve that status at least in the near future. If anything, email is your least dependable Internet service. Combine this with the growing array of user configurations, email clients, forwarding/retrieving/syncing scenarios, and user experience, and you may find yourself uttering a little prayer now and then for the poor email administrators and support personnel.+
[end of sermon - thanx for letting me get that off my chest; I feel better now! I'll feel a lot better when my email is flowing smoothly, but that's out of my hands for now.]

  • Mail doesn' t show preview of jpeg's

I have noticed that Apple Mail doesn't always show a preview of pictures (gif's and jpeg's) in the preview window. Sometimes it shows a picture and sometimes there is only a "?" in a frame and I have to double click on the attached icon to see it... Does anybody know why?

    Hi maui888,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you mean that you are not seeing the first couple of lines of the email in the message list, you may want to check the "List Preview" setting in the Viewing preferences, as noted in the following article:

  • One of 4 sent messages doesn't show up in the Sent mailbox - why?

Here is a strange thing I noticed just now. Thought it seems email has sometimes not been showing up in the Sent mailbox at other times as well.
I sent an email to somebody.
Using the "Send again" feature I sent it to a 2nd person.
Then I did the same thing to a 3rd person, and noticed the 2nd email wasn't in the Sent box.
Then I did the same thing to a 4th person, and noticed the 3rd email wasn't in the Sent box, but the 2nd mail appeared.
So the Sent box is currently showing 3 emails sent - apparently always not showing the next-to-last one sent.
This is Gmail, and I confirmed directly at Gmail that all 4 emails are in the Sent box. So the mails were all sent, and it appears to be an Apple Mail oddity where some mails are just not appearing up in Sent.
    Anybody else seeing this?
    I am using OS X 10.10.3.
    Thanks,
    doug

As a followup, in Mail on my iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.3 I do see all 4 sent mails. It's just in Apple Mail where I don't.

  • Yahoo Sent mail doesn't sync from Mac to iPad & iPhone

Hi just noticed that when I send mail from my Mac Mini (running Yosemite) these appear in the mac's sent mailbox bit don't appear in Yahoo's sent mail folder and therefore don't appear on my iPhone & iPad sent mail.
It also looks as if other mailboxes on my Mac Mini are not syncing correctly: i.e. I moved mail from my inbox to a yahoo folder on my iPhone but it doesn't appear in that folder on my Mac Mini.
I used the standard settings when setting up the Yahoo account on my Mac. and haven't changed them.
Any guidance to ensure these sync properly ?
    Thanks

A Cox email account is a POP account. What you are wanting is not supported with a POP account. Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.
This is supported with an IMAP account. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are available automatically with each email client used to access the account along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.
A MobileMe account is accessed as an IMAP account. You can store sent messages on the server with an IMAP account. Not so with a POP account.

  • Apple mail doesn't show mail content when selected?

I have done nothing new or strange with this application but since a few days ago I couldn't see mail content when I selected the emails.
I can see the new emails It doesn't show their content when I select them. It simply says no message selected.
Also when I double click to open the mail on a new page the application crashes. Any ideas? This is so frustrating!
Btw, I'm using a Macbook Pro.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.
