Sent Mail organizing issues

When Entourage loads it takes half of hour to load my SENT messages and how the sent messages are presented aren't how i saved them before i closed down the laptop. How can i set up my preferences so they not changed everytime i open Entourage and have
my sent message load as fast as my other messages? Thanks

Hi,
From your description, Sent Items take half of hour to load when you use Entourage. I recommend you check if OWA can load Sent Items normally. If yes, the issue is related to client side.
Actually, we have a dedicated support team regarding the Microsoft Entourage. I recommend you ask your question on our Microsoft Entourage forum which is staffed by more experts specializing in this kind of problems. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Can't Sync IMAP Sent Mail on E72 and other issues!

Has anybody any idea why Nokia felt it a good idea to release a phone with a mail client, that supports IMAP, but DOESN'T sync your sent mail? It is such a ridiculous omition that I am lost for words. I actually recommended the E71 to our IT department a few years ago but the mail client was so poor, we ended up getting 15 phones and 15 Profimail licences. The IT department have asked me to recommend the next phone as the E71 was a big hit and I asked them to get me this E72 to test. It is with great reluctance that I am going to try the iphone instead and recommend that as I believe the mail client on it is very good and the E72's is totally hopeless unless you go through the Nokia Messaging server, which obviously a corporate isn't going too. Before I knee jerk though, has anyone else had this issue and found a way around it?
Also, the predictive text is shocking now, the web browser is so buggy and closes without warning due to memory issues all the time.
Oh, the optical control pad is dreadful and totally useless and the select key also doesn't work in off-line mode, so the E72 is useless on a plane.
Nice to see that Nokia took the very good E71, played with it, broke it, made it far worse and buggy, stuck a new case on then released it as the E72. I remember the days that a Nokia phone worked from the minute you bought it, but now with firmware updates Nokia feel they can release half baked phones by the dozen, monthly. Pathetic.
Oh, and this is the latest firmware, too!
And one other thing, OVI Suite, PC Suite and the umpteen other applications that all do useful things....can Nokia not just release one main PC support app that works and has ALL the features under one roof? I have to installed them all on my PC as well as loads of other sync and office apps on the phone (like OVI Files) just to do the obvious things that you use a modern smartphone for.
Nokia, there is a very obvious reason why you are losing market share at the moment, and it isn't because people trust Google or like DRM and fruit pictures on their phones. Get a grip will you?
If anyone can help primarily with the Sent Mail sync issue in Nokia Email (without suggesting I route all my mail through Nokia's unreliable servers and divulge all my passwords), I would be very Grateful Indeed.

I had a number of problems setting up Google Apps with my phone. Mail, Calendar and Tasks were not syncing.
    Mail
Ok here is the solution to your sent mails problem. I have spent far too long setting up google apps to sync properly with my new E72 (latest software installed). It really is a superb phone but if Nokia is not going to fully support integration with Google Apps with a simple app then Android and Blackberry will simply take over for Apps users. It really isn't up to Google to solve this its up to Nokia. Are you going to move from Google Apps or change your phone????
I have gmail and  business google apps accounts and both are now syncing properly with what seems to be pretty good Nokia email software on the phone. This is allowing me to receive, send, view attachments, view sent mail etc. Here are the steps I took from the beginning.
    1. Enable IMAP for the google accounts. Couldn't get anything to work otherwise.
    2. Follow this instruction https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78887
    3. Your inbox should now be working however you now need to map the folders you want to see on your mobile. While at your inbox go to >settings>mailbox settings>what to sync>folder subscriptions.
    4. Click on Gmail and highlight the folders you want to see
    5. Go back to your inbox and go to the dragdown list of folders and highlight 'More Folders'. Under 'Gmail' you will find your sent items along with attachments etc. Problem solved. Its not a pretty solution but at this stage like me you just want something that works.
    Calendar
This was a nightmare and I am now running a third party app called Googasync which is working fine. In 10 days time I will need to buy this so if someone knows how to setup calendar syncing properly without it please let me know.
    Tasks
Googasync will not sync Tasks and I don't know if there is any app out there that will. If someone can help please let me know. Surely this should be pretty simple!?!?!
By the way I mailed Nokia support last Thursday on the above but have not received a reply.
In summary its a great phone and I've moved from a Blackerry Bold to it but I shouldn't be spending days finding workarounds!!

  • Issue with Sent mails from BB not showing in outlook

    Dear All,
I  configured my BB 8800 to work on my office email. We do not have a BES.
Concerns that i noticed are that the mails sent from my BB do not show up in the sent items of outlook.
The service is thru Airtel in India and the Tech support team of airtel mentioned that sent items would not show in outlook.
I really cant believe that such a thing can happen and Blackberry would release an incomplete mailing solution for non BES users.
Pls let me know if i can configure so that i can see my sent items in outlook :-)
    Rgds
    DC

This is true that sent items wont show in Outlook, unless you are using OWA to integrate your work account. If its POP, they wont show in sent items.
    Workaround:
-Log into BIS account and click on Edit beside your email address and in 'Auto BCC:' field enter your email address and save.
-Click on filters for your email address and add new filter, Filetr naem: Sent items; Apply filter when: "From" field and Contains: enter your email address and choose 'Do not forward messages to device' option and click on 'Add Filter'
On Outlook set up a filter for messages that come  from your email address to move to 'Sent items'
Summary: Auto bcc to bcc your address to get your sent mail, filter not to receive copies of those sent messages on BB and filter in Outlook to put  those messages in 'Sent Folder' Enjoy
Click on KUDOS to appreciate our efforts and mark the thread RESOLVED if your issue is resolved.

  • Sent mail issue

When I send an email message from my iphone it saves a copy in my sent mail folder.  However, when I go into Thunderbird, the same message does not appear in sent mail but appears in a different folder... does anyone know how to change this??  Thanks!  Susan

I tried to duplicate the behavior. Mobile Me, Yahoo, AOL all seemed to be showing the correct name in the sent folder and the items were in sync between the computer and the phone.
If you are dragging in messages from a different folder maybe this messes things up?
You can change the sent folder on the phone from the advanced settings if you need to (I'd avoid changing the deleted folder though)
I'd probably blow out the IMAP account on the phone, reset the phone, reset all settings and add it back. if it appears correctly on the computer the same should happen for the phone. I don't see any way to modify the recipient name that you mention.

  • Is there any way to fix long (45-90 seconds) delay in copying messages to sent mail folder?

Thunderbird is synched with IMAP to a GMail account. The only time long delays occur is copying messages to the sent mail folder. Is memory or storage within Thunderbird an issue?

    ''Onno Ekker [[#answer-615836|said]]''
    <blockquote>
Folders in Thunderbird are actually files on your file system. When you have lots of messages in a folder, the file gets bigger. Probably each time you send a message your virus scanner kicks in and also verifies the big file.
You can move older emails from your sent folder to Gmail's All Mail folder, that probably improves performance.
But you can also configure Thunderbird not to save outgoing messages to the Sent folder. Gmail will do that itself, so when Thunderbird does it too, it will actually happen twice. Go to Tools -> Account Settings -> <Gmail account> -> Copies & Folders and uncheck Place a copy in...

  • How to download the "Sent Mail" folder from Gmail to Mail 4.1?

Since updating to Snow Leopard I no longer have any mail in my Sent Mail folder
when using IMAP in Mail 4.1. In fact just a few (258) of all my sent messages (3732)
    were properly downloaded.
I noticed that after configuring my Gmail to work with Mail/IMAP some new folders were
created. They are: [Gmail]/Sent Mail/Sent, [Imap]/Drafts, Sent messages, and Deleted Messages. Apart
from those, my Gmail account has always had standard folders such as Inbox, Sent Mail (the majority of my sent messages are in here), Drafts, Spam, and Trash. Apparently Mail is only downloading the messages from the new "Sent messages" folder and not the standard "Sent Mail", wherein all my sent messages actually are.
Another issue it that the spinning gear next to the Gmail Inbox in Mail 4.1 keeps spinning incessantly as if checking for new messages all the time even though it is set to check for new messages every 5 minutes and all messages has been downloaded. I have another IMAP account for my university's email which is working perfectly (neither problems with Sent Mail folder nor spinning gear). I will post the spinning gear problem in a separate question.
In my old MacBook I didn't have this problem when using Gmail with POP. This is the first time I'm using IMAP.
Is anybody having the same problems?
I appreciate your help in advance.

you can change Your Sent mailbox to "Sent Mail". select Sent Mail mailbox, go to mailbox menu->use this mailbox for->sent.

  • Apple told me that my iPhone 4 does not have the possibility to store sent e-mails. I can not believe that, but my iPhone has a box for sent mails that is always empty. How can my iPhone store sent e-mails?

The Apple helpdesk told me that my iPhone 4 does not have the function to keep sent mails stored. I cannot believe that. My iPhone 4 has a Sent box, I have checked the Sent box in Configuratieo--> E-mail, ...Calender..,but the Sent box is always empty after I have sent an E-mail. I know that the E-mails arrive at their destinations. How can I activate the Sent box?

lol the person you talked to at Apple was not very bright.
Of course you can have sent items in your mail on the iPhone 4. I have mine there all the time.
Sounds like you might have issues with the software.
I recommend trying a reset, send email and see if that goes to the sent items directory
    If not do a restore.

  • Saving sent mail to a different IMAP folder?

I'm in the process of consolidating several IMAP accounts into one, in the hopes of improving Mail.app's performance (most notably by decreasing the number of mailboxes that make up my unified inbox).
Overall it should work but there's a problem: I want to be able to continue sending mail from multiple email addresses, saving each sent message to my single account's sent mail folder on the IMAP server. I'm not sure how to do this. I can set up several "dummy" POP accounts to allow sending from multiple addresses, but then the sent mail is just saved locally. I can keep multiple IMAP accounts and turn off automatic checking, but then I'm still checking all those mailboxes when I look in my unified inbox or sent mail folder.
The simplest approach would simply be a way to define several "from" addresses in Mail.app and send them all through the same account...but I don't see any way to do this.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

The question is, are you trying to solve an actual problem that you have? If you're experiencing performance issues, it could be that there is something wrong with the index, which you can re-create as follows:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Move any "IMAP-", "Mac-", or "Exchange-" account folders to the Trash. Note that you can do this with IMAP-type accounts because they store mail on the server and Mail can easily re-create them. DON'T trash any "POP-" account folders, as that would cause all mail stored there to be lost.
    5. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be "imported". Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it's "importing", but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
    6. As a side effect of having removed the IMAP account folders, those accounts may be in an "offline" state now. Do Mailbox > Go Online to bring them back online.
Also, go to System Preferences > Network > Show: Network Port Configurations, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • 10.6.8 update ate all my sent mail!

Never happened in all my years on Mac: The update to 10.6.8 disappeared the contents of all Sent Mail Messages folders. Why and how would it do such a thing?
All POP mail accounts, three GMail and one Comcast. Wondering if making IMAP accounts will bring them back ... but really, Apple, ***? I prepare for updates, keep a clean, updated machine—MacBook Pro 17"—repair permissions after updates ...
    Thanks for any clues/advice,
    Connie

Same problem as humorzo.  My inbox consists of 10 different email accounts, including MobileMe, Gmail, other IMAP and POP based accounts.  NEVER had any issues with Mail or OS upgrades until 10.6.8.  Literally did two hours of email composing and sending off, only to realize that NOT one left the building and there is NO record in the DRAFT, OUTBOX or SENT Mail folders of any of the emails I sent.  As humorzo very aptly states - 10.6.8 with Mail ATE all my sent mail.
I tried rebuilding mail boxes.  It has now otoally screwed up my SENT MAIL - more missing than before rebuilding, dates screwed up.
NOT Happy - deleted mail prefs file (after copying original to a safe spot).  That didn't help - so reinstated original mail prefs file.
Checked DIsk Utility.  Drive is fine - repaired disk permissions.  All to no avail.
Apple - you have a problem here - please work this out ASAP.

  • Sent mail occasionally not stored in sent folder

    Hi,
we encountered weird problem with OS X server behaviour where user sent email via smtp server and it is not stored in his/her mailbox.
This issue is happening time to time I would say almost randomly.
Do you have any idea why this is happening and where is the sent mail?
I picked a case and gathered relevant logs:

I have a few users reporting the same problem. It is inconsistent and I have not found a way to reproduce it at will.
Our users have been BCC them selves so they have a copy to move to sent it if is not there.
They have also reported mail being copied to the Send and Drafts folders when they send it.
When they login from a different mail client the folders are the same. So I am assuming the problem is server side? Or at least the result is.
Is it the clients job to ask the server to move the mail from outbox to the sent folder?
I think this is where the problem is occurring.
We were looking at it this morning and moving mail around from Drafts to Trash and Sent. Mostly it moved around fine but there was one instance where we moved mail from Drafts to Trash.
We then quit and opened mail again (we waited until the activity window was empty)
The mail we moved to Trash was gone. But a new mail was in Drafts that had been sent earlier that morning. A copy was still in the Sent folder.
    We could not reproduce this.
We also have roundcube but it is the mail.app clients that notice the problems. They are the majority so it is to be expected.
    Clients OS X 10.10.2, mail.app 8.2
    Server 4.0.3, OS X 10.10.2, Roundcube 1.0.3 (Topicdesk Roundcube Installer 1.0.3a)

  • How to put sent mails in different folders

Hi, I just started experiencing this issue with Mail.app since I subscribed to MobileMe.
I added more than one email addresses in the mobileme account, made the folders and rules to move the received mails to their proper folders. Receiving is now well managed.
How can I do the same with the sent mails? The rules don't do exactly what I want.
When I send a mail with for example [email protected] I would like to go the sent mail in "sent test" under the [email protected] folder, is it possible?
    thanks in advance

Mulder is right - you can't do this with Mail.
However, there is no such thing as a unique idea... and there are a few people who can turn them into reality. Try Mail Scripts by Andreas Amann. (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16217).
That will let you process rules against sent items.
    Cheers,
    Rodney
Note: Usual disclaimer when trying a new app: back things up first!

  • Problem with "sent" mail folder-how do I trash the prefs in Apple Mail?

Since no one has answered my original request for assistance regarding my "Sent Mail" mailbox, I'll move the issue aside and approach it differently: How do I trash the prefs in Apple Mail without trashing my inbox and all the other mailboxes? Trashing the prefs works for most apps, but if I do that to Mail, I'm screwed. My real problem remains: I can no longer see or read the email in my "sent mail" box; I can see the info identifying the entry, but I can't read the contents of the email. It's all there in the Mail folder on my hard drive, but it doesn't show up in the Mail app.
So how can I trash the prefs for "Mail" without trashing my inbox?

    Hello b:
I have only had to trash the Mail preference once, and I cannot remember what occurred (except that the application worked OK after that).
Before you trash the preference file, try rebuilding the mailbox(s).

  • How to important "sent mail" from another account into Mail?

I wasn't sure where to put this question because of the way this forum is organized.
    Anyway, here is my problem:
I woke up thinking I may have forgotten to send an important e-mail yesterday. I thought, "No problem, I won't have to drive all the way to work. I'll just set up Mail on my iMac to use the e-mail account I use at work." It's an SBCGlobal account, so I found most of the information I needed about the mail servers and POP and IMAP and all that stuff that could be termed in a lot more user-friendly language so I don't have a conniption fit trying to figure out what it is I'm doing.
I finally managed to get it set up to where all of the messages from the inboxes were imported into my Mail app. One big problem: I need to look at the *sent* mail, and if I didn't send the e-mail I thought I needed to, I need to access attachments that I sent to others.
So how do I important the sent folder from my work e-mail account into Mail?

I wouldn't doubt it. I work at a small church so we don't have much funding, but we're switching to Gmail. I found an older, unedited print copy of what I was supposed to send and made alterations to that and e-mailed it to the people who needed it. The other thing I was supposed to e-mail isn't essential, I suppose, as it's Sunday's bulletin and everyone will be picking one up tomorrow when they come to church anyway. It's just that I'm fairly new at the position, I love everyone at the church and with whom I work, and I want to do everything right 100% of the time to please them because I'm very Type A. I've been really getting a hang of my job, but it seems there's always one thing that I screw up. I guess I'll get better with experience. And hopefully switching to Gmail, if I do this again, I can just access everything from home.

  • SENT MAIL NOT APPEARING IMAIL

I have had the same gmail account for nearly 7 years. I have always used it with the apple mail program (IMAP). Suddenly in the last couple of days my sent mail has totally vanished (except for nearly 300 messages that seem to be pretty much just from this month and last). The messages exist when I access gmail online (I have nearly 9000 sent messages for this account). I have tried deleting and re-setting up the account and rebuilding it in Mail. This is very frustrating, as I often have to access old messages.
My other email addresses seem to have the same issue as well. (me.com account and another gmail account).
Does anyone else have this problem, or know what is up?

I downloaded a different mail client (Thunderbird) and the same issue happened when I set up my gmail account. I wonder if it is a Gmail issue? My sent mail appears totally on my Iphone. This is driving me nuts!

  • Bcc not shown in sent mail

    Hi,
I've read some other topics on this issue, and it is a shame the discussion are closed and I must open a new one. However, here is the problem.
I often send mail to multiple receiver, and I prefer not to disclose the address of long lists or competitor suppliers. I send my mails using the Bcc field for the addresses.
Unfortunately, Mail does not show anything in the To field when the message is in the Sent (or any other) mailbox.
Someone says the reason is because this is a 'blind' mail. But the Bcc should be blind to the receivers, not to the sender (who - if in good mental shape - should know who is writing to).
Are there workarounds, scripts, extensions, fixing this beahvoir, that at the moment makes Mail a bit useless to me (how can I archive mails if I cannot see who I sent them to?)
    Cheers, Paolo

BCC should show up as a header line in the message in your sent folder, whether your smtp gets upset with blank "To" fields or not. The copy of the message in the sent folder, according to the mail headers in raw messages in my sent folder, have no indication of having left my machine, i.e., no indication of having been touched by a smtp server anywhere (no "Received-From" header lines). Is any BCC data visible when you view raw message source (menubar View > Message > Raw Source)?
Since "BCC" is not "To", it is not going to display in the "To" column in the sent mail viewer pane and BCC is not a choice for viewablle columns in the viewer pane. You will probably have to do something like make the "To" field read Suppliers-1 <[email protected]> and Suppliers-2 <[email protected]>.
Or maybe you can make some smart mailboxes and use the "Filter Sent Messages" apple script that is part of the collection of the Mail Scripts collection by Andreas Amann. I have never used Mail Scripts so can't speak to its efficacy for various tasks, but if it is just identifying a rule (or set of rules), then in Mail Prefs Rules, I would think that you could create some rules based on the BCC field of messages in your sent folder. In Mail Prefs' Rules, select "edit header list" in the leftmost drop down menu and add Bcc as a field, then create the action to sort on the contents of the Bcc field and move complying messages to the applicable smart folder.
