Sent mail to Yahoo addresses being returned

For the past 3 days, any email i have sent to anyone with a Yahoo email address has been returned to me after 12 hours with the following message:
"Most likely there is a network problem that prevented delivery, but
it is also possible that the computer is turned off, or does not
have a mail system running right now.
Your message was not delivered within 0 days and 12 hours.
Host yahoo.com is not responding."
I use Mail program. I have an email address through charter.net. None of the settings have changed and I can send email to other addresses, just not anyone using Yahoo. Also, I am receiving email from a variety of email addresses (including Yahoo).
Charter says "duh, they can't help anybody with a mac ... ya know". And I can find nothing on yahoo saying there are any problems with their system. Anybody have any ideas for me? Unfortunately, the main 2 people I email, only have Yahoo addresses.
Oh, also, it doesn't matter if i send the email from my imac or my ibook mail program - if it's sent to a Yahoo address, it comes back to me 12 hours later. Thanks for the help!
One more thing ... if i use charter's webmail site, i can send messages to Yahoo addresses. the errors only occur when i use my Mail program.

  • Mac Mail with Yahoo address Question

I have several email accounts, yahoo, hotmail, etc set through mac mail. I have all the boxes checked to preserve the message from
the beginning. I have one client whom I email frequently back and forth with and I was just recently told that they cannot see the
message string that it is cutting off my original message. Can anyone help me with what is going on. I have tested it between my emails
and I can see verything fine. I have also went into Yahoo and chnaged settings and still nothing. I have a feeling it is something on their end
but not sure. Any help is appreciated.

Honestly, this does sound like something on their end.  Send an email from your account in question to another person (say your parents, spouse, etc.) and see if they notice the same problem.

  • How do I clear the Sent mail folder on my ipad?

I have an ipad mini and just noticed that the Sent Mail folder is not being periodically cleared as I assumed it was.
Now I have nearly 18 months worth of Sent messages, and I can't find anyway to clear out those messages other than clicking on each individual message one by one and deleting them.   With 18 months worth of messages it will take forever to delete them all one by one.
There must be some way to clear the folder or to mark a range of messages for deletion?

Unfortunately you are correct (and I was wrong - I just looked on my iPad  ). I have my mail set up on my computer and manage the retention there.
I looked to see if there is a way (on an iPad) and could not find one.

  • Problem syncing sent mail

The "Sent mail" folder on my iPhone does not syncronize with the "Sent folder" in Mail on my mac. I use a .Mac account.
How can i resolve this issue???
    Thanks in advance,

    iMac 20inch 2Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Id be curious to know this as well. i've noticed on mine that it tries to send and then pops out of Mail. But when I go check my sent mail on Yahoo it was sent. AND when i've check if the email was recieved...normally...there are like 10 of the same emails depending on how many times I tried to send from the iPhone.

  • How do you mail to several addresses in Yosemite mail?

When I sent mail to multiple addresses in my 10.6.8 mac, the "plus" sign offered my list of contacts with 3 boxes beside each contact.
I checked the boxes, clicked OK and viola!  All the addresses appeared.
In Yosemite, I can't find any such thing.  A click on the "plus" sign shows me my addresses, but I can't click more than one at a time.  Say it isn't so!
    anna941

True if you use that method. You must re-click the Add [+] button each time you want to add another name. Or you have other options. With the cursor in the address field just type the beginning of a name or email address then select from the pop-up list the one you want; of open your Contacts and simply multi-select the names you want, then drag them into the To: field.

  • Delete Sent Mail/mail sync problem

Is there a way to make iPad automatically delete sent POP mail after a time period? I have my apple mail program on an iMac set to do so, and it's working fine. But on the iPad sent mail has not been being deleted. I tried telling iTunes to sync mail accounts, and replace mail info on the iPad with that from the computer, but the sent mail on the iPad is still all there. I could just delete it all, one by one, but since I thought the settings were synced to the computer that all the sent messages were being deleted, and just noticed they weren't. So now I have a thousand or more sent messages on the ipad. This only occurs with POP accounts, Mac.com mail is behaving well, the sent messages delete as they should. Any ideas? Or, how can I mass delete thousands of sent messages on the iPad without having to do it one by one?

I'm pretty sure you can't do what you want. You'll have to just tap on the Edit button and manually select them all. A real pain.
POP accounts are a pain in general as they are designed for use on one device. For example, the only way of recording that a mail has been sent from your iPad (or from any other device/computer) is to cc yourself.
IMAP is the only way to go. Unfortunately, a lot of ISPs don't use it yet.

  • Mail sent to my .mac address is being returned to sender...

This is truly a mystery to me. Mail being sent to my .mac address from others is being returned as "undeliverable." Moreover, there does not seem to be any clear pattern. I still get messages sent to my .mac account. The messages don't always have attachments. The messages being returned originated as fowarded mail, sent mail and replied to mail.

    Paul,
Since I now know that you are using SpamAssassin (from the Long Headers of your reply to my test message), let me ask if you have checked its settings for any possible block of these senders that are not getting through?

I don't think they need an IP, If I were to send an eMail that had your addy spoofed, when it git returned it would get returned to you.
If you don't recognize any of those names in the TO: line, then no worry, you just ignore the thing... I doubt you have any worries, & even less control of these things.

  • Sent mail is not being deleted on iPad.

I read a support page that said it should automatically delete sent messages based on the setting for how many messages to display, after a time delay, but it is set to 20 yet I had 500 messages in a sent mail folder (pop account) dating back to early June. Has anyone else seen this problem or know what may be wrong?

I'm SO frustrated with this Yahoo! email integration... I'm seeing the same issues as you:
    1) PUSH email stops pushing
    2) "Sent" email messages ("whoosh" sound implies all is well) via Yahoo! are not actually being sent.
This would be bad enough if when sending email the client actually told me there was a failure... but it turns out it's been a completely transparent problem. All appears well, but isn't.
The only solution I seem to have found is to delete the Yahoo mail account in the Settings/Mail area, and then re-add it through the Settings/Mail UI. After doing this I find that Push notifications and the ability to send email via Yahoo! mail returns.
.... The problem is that - based on previous experience - it won't be long before the client, or Yahoo (I have no idea where the problem really lies) will quietly stop functioning again.
I'm also a Yahoo! Plus email subscriber, if this has anything to do with the issue. Any non-plus users out there running into this issue?
Apple / Yahoo / AT&T... PLEASE fix this!

  • Sent mailed not being saved

I have my preferences set to save Sent mail for a month. It is being saved for 2 days only. I have rebuilt the sent mailbox. Restarted, repaired permissions.
Thank you for help with this!

    Hello 17black.
This is an IMAP account, right? Who is the provider?
Do you get the error message while you compose the message or when you hit Send?
BTW, if you’re using Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), as your profile indicates, it would have been more appropriate to discuss this in the Mail & Address Book - Tiger forum. If the discussion applies to both Mail 1.x and Mail 2.x, it doesn’t really matter, but it’s difficult to know that in advance. The Mailbox Behaviors preference pane that you mention, for example, is called Special Mailboxes in Mail 1.x (and I’ll call it that way if we discuss the problem here).

  • Sent mail is not being received

Some of my emails use my me.com account are not being received by the recipient.
The emails show being SENT in my SENT box.

I have a similar but perhaps unrelated problem. Every now and then, I send an email on my gmail account using Mail. The sent mail appears in my sent box, but never arrives, and does not appear in my webmail sent box (where it usually does, using gmail). Most of the time it works, and it even works most of the time with people it has had a problem with, including mail I send to myself at work at my professional address. Usually arrives...but not always. I don't know how to trust my sent mail box without always going on the webmail to make sure it actually went out. I only have this problem when using the Mail application, but there are no other common characteristics (attachements, ISPs, etc) to say there could be a problem with one of those things. Anyone else have this problem?

  • Sent mail not visible in Yahoo

I'm sure this question is in the wrong community, but there isn't one dedicated to Apple Mail so here goes nothing.
I have access to my Yahoo email account through the Apple Mail application. I can view, access and respond to all mail sent to my Yahoo email address. However whenever I create a message in Apple Mail the sent messages do not appear in Yahoo's Sent folder.
Is there a configuration setting that's needed in order to make this happen. When I asked the Apple rep at Genius Bar he said it's a Yahoo problem, and of course Yahoo says it's Apple's problem.
    I'd appreciate any advice.
    Thanks.

That's because you are accessing Yahoo as POP mail (where the messages are downloaded to your Mac) and when you send a message it's done from and saved on your Mac. The Yahoo webmail server isn't involved.
To do what you want requires IMAP access (where all messages reside on the server and are read from there by your Mac). I don't know whether Yahoo offers that option, you would have to ask them.
If you need to ask questions about Apple Mail, that's covered in the forum for your operating system, in your case (according to your signature) the Mac OS X v10.7 Lion forum. (This forum is for the long-defunct office application AppleWorks.)

  • I have a problem with a few emails i wrote which were in the outbox. The outbox disappeared all of a sudden with my mails... However they were not sent since the email address was not correct (just 3 initials). Is there a way to get it back somewhere?

    Hello,
I have a problem with a few emails i wrote which were in the outbox. The outbox disappeared all of a sudden with my mails... However they were not sent since the email address was not correct (just 3 initials). I was waiting to find out the correct email address of that person, put in in and then sen it...Is there a way to get it back somewhere on the ipad or in some cached folder?
Many thanks for an answe to this.
    Swisslady2

There is no cache where the emails would be stored on the iPad, but you could try quitting the mail app and then launch it again and see if the emails return.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Tap the home button. Then try mail again.

  • Mail changes my email address to other account in sent mail

Mail app version 7.3 with Mavericks 10.9.4. (updated to 10.9.5 today)
I have two Gmail based accounts one personal (POP) and the other a .com (IMAP) for business use that I use in the Mail app. I've been having this ongoing problem (which started at some point with one of the updates to Mavericks) that when replying to an email or sending a new one from my personal account my own sent address changes to the business address and of course the responses are sent back to the business account (for some things I do not want that account know). It doesn't always happen but what is mystifying is that I will double check that the mailbox selected is for the personal account, fill the reply to field with the personal account address, include signature from personal account then hit send. If I look at sent mail to check, the account address will have change to being sent from the .com account. Now I have double checked preferences, tried fixes with send from selected account, send from personal account only to have the same thing happen and am at a lost short of deleting both accounts and reinstalling them. Any ideas or solutions?
    MacBook Pro 15in Mid 2010, 2,53 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB

I seem to have resolved the issue. After changing the server (being gmail they used the same smtp address) to reflect each account it wouldn't send out mail which may have been down to with the two step verification needing a new password which invalidates my normal gmail password and forgotten about by me. I deleted the IMAP account (to simplify things), reset the server settings for the POP account, generated the new password and once in place mail was able to be sent. I re-added the IMAP account as that reloads all the files that were deleted and it now has its own settings so we are back (touch wood) to how it use to be with no address switch on being sent. Thanks again you put me on the track in the direction I was thinking about. I like your avatar, I use to have two black cats myself.
