Sent mails don't open

Hello!
When I try to open mails I have sent, some of them open but only show a blank window without any contents.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Can IE load https://github.com/ or do you have the problem in all browsers?
If you have the problem in all browers, is it possible that you have an entry in the Windows hosts file for github.com which points to an obsolete IP address?
Do you use a private VPN, or custom DNS, or have anything else that could be unusual in how you connect to websites?

  • MAIL doesn't show attachments in SENT mail until you open the eMail!!

I mean EUDORA may have been getting grey, but it still today has features that blow MAIL away!
For example: When you attach a document or photo to an eMail in MAIL - then send it; then go back to your SENT eMail BOX - guess what- there is no icon in the ATTACHMENTS (paperclip icon) column indicating that there is an attachment in that eMail. BUT if you open and then close that eMail - wow- magic - the icon now appears.
COMEONTHIS IS CRAZY - why doesn't the icon appear immediately?
I mean this program has probably been around for 5 years now, maybe more; I only started using it a few months ago and you mean to tell me with a billion MacUsers (don't we wish- say 85 million?) out there- no one has noticed this and complained? It's like when you create a new message and you want to increase the font size with the buttons. THEY DON'T WORK unless you are replying to a message. WEIRD AND BAD - come'on apple get this working!!!!!!!!
And yes I have posted to the apple info site as well as here - I'm just hoping that someone can tell me that if I do something then I can cure these evils...

Thanks for the comment! Actually I have 2 POP and 1 IMAP account. (IMAP is set to keep copies of messages and attachments for online viewing).
But 90% of the time I send using my VOO POP account. I just did a test. I attached a small photo to an eMail that I sent to my work eM address. It went out and then I opened the SENT Mailbox and although the message appears in the SENT box - the attachment ICON does not.
Here's what I think is happening: I keep one window (viewer window) for SENT messages open all the time; and another for IN - plus often have many messages open. I stagger them so that I just click on the left to bring the INBOX to the front; click to the right to bring the SENT box to the front (or use the WINDOW menubar).
OK so if I CLOSE the SENT viewer window, re-do the test (send a message with an attachment) then OPEN the SENT window - voilà the message AND THE ATTACHED ITEM ICON are there. So a bit strange that the MESSAGE appears in the SENT box when the SENT box viewer window is OPEN; but not the attachment icon - unless you either close and reopen the SENT box; or open the message itself. In anycase there should be some automatic refresh here--
AND HERE's something interesting: If I have a SENT viewer window OPEN, send this POP eMail, see the message (but no attachment icon) in the SENT window, but then OPEN a 2nd viewer window guess what? THE ATTACHMENT ICON IS NOT THERE EITHER.
The only way is to have NO SENT VIEWER WINDOW open, and after sending the eM, to then open it and then the attachment is visible. (OR if a sent viewer window is open, then double-click the message and then close it and then the icon appears). This is really bad - you think you've sent an attachment to someone, you check the SENT Viewer Window, and no, it's not showing - but in reality YOU DID SEND THE ATTACHMENT. Very bad that - and one wonders why...
WORSE: I just did the same test sending via my IMAP (MobileMe) account from MAIL and having the sent viewer window closed and then opening it after sending doesn't work! STILL NO ATTACHMENT ICON - one must open the message just sent -- just awful to have to do that so there must be some other settings to set?!?!
Thanks again for your eMail that prompted me to run these tests - perhaps you can try the same and let me know?

  • Fire fox is crashing as well as "sent" mails are not opening, all of a sudden, continue & cancel will appear, sometimes copy & paste is not working

-The system has crashed/closed on it's own. Have had to put the pc off to get the system started again, yesterday, the hotmail was not opening either, once it opened after some time, other times I had to open Mozilla again.
-Some of the "sent" emails are not opening for me to check what I've written.
    - After I've opened my hot mail account, the continue & cancel signs will appear again.

As the day progressed, all other files quit being able to save to the desktop.  As I tried to diagnose the issue, I went through the Repair Disk in Disk Utilities and was told by that program to close and use the disk repair from Recovery HD (CMD + R upon reboot).  I did that and was eventually told the HDD was too far gone to repair.  I reformatted and restored from Time Machine following the instructions given.  All is good now after 24 hours of work.  I have no idea what happened but I'm not feeling real safe about my mac today.  I have an SSD on order.

  • My sent mail will not open anymore

I have removed a lot of sent messages(8000>3000) and my sent folder will not open anymore.
For a couple of times I opened my Thunderbird but no respons.
The cursor is still turning cirkels.
    What can you suggest?
    Thanx in advance
    Kees

If it is an IMAP account you might have to wait for an update/synchronization of your actions on the server.

    Quit Mail, Trash this file...
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop for now...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

  • Scheduled Webi Reports Don't Open on iOS's MS Exchange Mail

    Hi all,
I am not sure if this is the right place to write this post but I will try anyway.
We are using BO 4.0 SP6 and schedule webi reports as attached xlsx of pdf in e-mails.The problem is that the attached pdf's and excel files don't open right away in iPhone's native mail application when using MS Exchange. A tiny question mark shows up on the top corner of the attachment and when you tap on it, it asks which application to use to open it. We can choose iBooks app for example to view the file. We would like the attachment to open right away as we tap on it as it does usually.
    Here are some test results:
-We have observed this issue on iOS 8. However, there are rumors that it started with iOS 7. Same rumors suggest that it would work fine before iOS 7.
-We use iOS' native mail application with a MS Exchange account set up.
-We have also tested it with a gmail account set up next to the exchange account. The attachment opened with no problem.
-If someone forwards the mail received from the BO server, to another exchange mail, the attachment opens just fine.
-We have no problem opening other exchange mails with attachments on mobile.
We suspect, the exchange mail can't confirm the sender address thus can't trust the attachment if it is really a pdf-excel file. So we tried scheduling the webi report with a valid mail address in the sender information box but it didn't work.
Has anyone came across such a problem?
I know this issue involve SAP, Apple and Microsoft and each one will point the other for the blame. But any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hi Emre,
Though this appears on Mobile, this belongs to Webi Product team. As the schedule of Webi reports and the email output would be controlled by them. They can work with Apple to identify the cause and fix the defect. Hence, you can post your question in SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence
I would also recommend that you contact Webi Product Support through the official channel http://support.sap.com/incident

    Hi ctconnor;
Since there are no virus for OS X, I seriously doubt that is what is causing your problem here.
My suggestion open System Preferences then Accounts followed by Login Items. Once there deselect Microsnot Word.

  • I don't want my sent mail to appear in the Inbox, but I can't find a way to set that.

I just switched to Thunderbird from Apple Mail because Gmail doesn't work with Mail under Yosemite. I am trying to set up Thunderbird, but can't find a way to not have the sent mail appear in the Inbox. Also, I used Mail before because it could handle Exchange accounts as well. Is there any way to access Exchange accounts in Thunderbird?
    Thanks!

  • Saving sent mail to a different IMAP folder?

I'm in the process of consolidating several IMAP accounts into one, in the hopes of improving Mail.app's performance (most notably by decreasing the number of mailboxes that make up my unified inbox).
Overall it should work but there's a problem: I want to be able to continue sending mail from multiple email addresses, saving each sent message to my single account's sent mail folder on the IMAP server. I'm not sure how to do this. I can set up several "dummy" POP accounts to allow sending from multiple addresses, but then the sent mail is just saved locally. I can keep multiple IMAP accounts and turn off automatic checking, but then I'm still checking all those mailboxes when I look in my unified inbox or sent mail folder.
The simplest approach would simply be a way to define several "from" addresses in Mail.app and send them all through the same account...but I don't see any way to do this.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

The question is, are you trying to solve an actual problem that you have? If you're experiencing performance issues, it could be that there is something wrong with the index, which you can re-create as follows:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Move any "IMAP-", "Mac-", or "Exchange-" account folders to the Trash. Note that you can do this with IMAP-type accounts because they store mail on the server and Mail can easily re-create them. DON'T trash any "POP-" account folders, as that would cause all mail stored there to be lost.
    5. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be "imported". Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it's "importing", but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
    6. As a side effect of having removed the IMAP account folders, those accounts may be in an "offline" state now. Do Mailbox > Go Online to bring them back online.
Also, go to System Preferences > Network > Show: Network Port Configurations, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • Mail Problem: No outbox, no sent mail unable to send mail

I wiped my HD and restored my account from back up. All seems to be okay EXCEPT
When I open MAIL I have no OUTBOX, my SENT mail is empty and while it appears to let me create a new email and send it it does not go to outbox or sent mail, and no email goes out.
There is no activity from the mail activity pane on send.
I have deleted the mail.plist and the account and then added it back in. Same results.
If I switch to a admin/test account on the same device, MAIL works correctly.
    Any thoughts?

I'm not sure it was a migration assistant malfunction. Last month I started using an iMac I purchased in May. Upgraded to Mountain Lion. Did not use migration assistant, but did import my mailboxes. They are in an Import folder and I can get to them when I want. Not the ideal situation, but I'll work on it.
However, I just realized that 13 of the messages I've sent in the last week never did get sent. Some messages I sent did go, others didn't. I realized the problem when I went to my Sent folder to get some info from an email I sent someone and could not find it. I did not see an Outbox in my list of folders on the left. However, when I did a search for the name of the person this email was to have been sent to, the email came up and indicated it was in the Outbox. The word Outbox was a link, so I clicked on it. THEN the Outbox showed up and contents included 13 messages I had thought were already sent!
After testing sending and receiving from my Webmail, I checked my account settings again to ensure they were correct; they were. I quit Mail and re-opened . . . and all those messages in the Outbox immediately were sent! My Outbox is still in the list of folders.
Before I switched to my new computer and updated OS, sometimes I would get a message that said the message couldn't be sent and it let me choose another server if I wanted. I would usually choose the same server and it would be sent when I hit go. I always thought it was a problem with the server for some reason. I want Mail to notify me if a message isn't sent when I hit Send. I don't see an option for that in Preferences. Any ideas? I really don't want to always have to double-check to make sure each message I sent goes in the Sent folder!
    Thank you!

  • Sent Mail Missing

MacBook Pro Laptop and .mac subscriber for years. Opened mail this evening and all sent mail messages are missing. I noticed mail was caching sent mail in Activity Window so I let it run. 1784 messages and attachments apparently were cached. I opened and closed mail and still no sent mail.
I looked at MobileMe and all my sent mail is on the server. I'm hesitant to do a sync until I know why the messages are off my laptop.

I doubt the messages are gone; Mail has probably just lost it's mind and doesn't realize they're there. So let's try rebuilding your Mail index.
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. Go to Home/Library/Mail and remove the Envelope Index file to your Desktop.
    3. Restart Mail and allow it to import your existing mailboxes; when it's done your index will have been rebuilt. Check to see whether or not your messages are back; if so, you can delete the old Envelope Index file on your Desktop.

  • How to export old sent mail in my macbook and import it in my Mac?

I want to export my old sent mail in my macbook and import it in my new Mac?

There is a bug when doing “export mailbox” and import mailbox functionality.
    Workaround:
      > Open Finder and under the “Go” menu, hold down the option key.  The “Library” sub-menu will show up.
      > Copy the entire “Library > Mail” folder to a USB disk (it will not work if copying to a shared drive for some reason)
      > Take the USB disk to the new computer and do an “Import Mailbox” and select the copied Data file.  There will be LOTS of folders that come up for import, you can browse through and deselect what you don’t need (e.g. trash or junk mail), OR just import everything and then clean up from your mailbox.
      > The imported folders will show up in mail under the “On My Mac” area.

    Hi Hector.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Move any “IMAP-” or “Mac-” account folders to the Trash. Note that you can do this with IMAP-type accounts because they store mail on the server and Mail can easily re-create them. DON’T trash any “POP-” account folders, as that would cause all mail stored there to be lost.
    5. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
    6. As a side effect of having removed the IMAP account folders, those accounts may be in an “offline” state now. Do Mailbox > Go Online to bring them back online.
