Sent out new box

ok i was sent out new black box to replae my silver one , plugged it in and the freeview quality is awfull cant gett bbc 1 and 2 at all and all other channels are at 30% signal quality , plugged the silver one back in and every channel works fine quality back up to 100% on most channels , phoned bt and they were saying to sent out engineer but if they dont find fault it will cost me 113 quid , no thanks !!!!!
can i just keep the silver box that works fine and send the black one where i cant watch freeview back ?
i know it says that the current box will fail work properly in 28 days , will it really ?
i mean as far as i know they are the same box except for the colour

Keep your old box connected then and see what happens , then post back here and let the rest of us know. Don't send the black one back, just keep it safe for when (if) you need it. I was going to congratulate you on getting a black one - many of us just got another silver one - but it sounds like a lemon.

As long as they are already ticked in your iTunes then yes. Just to check do a sync and as long as everything stays the same you are good to go.

To check if you have a virus, you can download ClamXav
also, go to Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor and see if there's anything that you don't recognize, and check your sent email to see if you've been sending emails without your knowledge.

My brand new out the box airport extreme won't let anything connect to it.

My brand new out the box 5th gen (2013) airport extreme won't let anything connect to it. I've tried several setups from sratch by the book. multiple resets and restores still nothing. It just keeps telling mt that the password is in correct even though it is 100% right.
My curren set up is as follows. Phone Line -> ADSL2+ router -> Airport extreme. There is also an old airport express running of the router, this was done because the airport extremem was failing to work.
Trying to connect:
2x iPhone 4s
2x macbook air
2x Mac Pro.

You will want the Extreme to be in bridge mode if it is currently disabled. (see image below)
This will allow the ADSL2+ router to perform two important functions for your entire network: 1) Provide both the DHCP & NAT services, and 2) Provide PPPoE support to allow access to your ADSL ISPs network.
If the Extreme is left in its default state, a router, it will conflict with the first item and you will have want is known as a "double NAT" condition. Something you will want to avoid.

New 2011 Imac out of box, updated software now wont boot up? Ive had this machine for 24 hours!

Brand new out of box Imac 27" Booted up ok. Downloaded/updated software and prompted restart and now no screen? Makes the boot up noise but screen remains black? Unplug it. Wait 2 minutes (don't rush it). Plug it back in. Power it up. Have patience during the first startup.
If the computer hasn't booted to the desktop (or the login screen if you have auto login disabled) within 5 minutes, considering that it's brand-new-out-of-the-box, call Apple and schedule a repair appointment at your nearest Apple Store.
I know it's annoying that you might have a lemon, but it does happen - don't give up on Mac because you got the one bad Apple.

That is not what I have discovered, nor what others have discovered, nor what I was told when I went the Genius Bar. I cannot remotely mirror to my MacBook Pro and it only started the day after I installed the upgrade. We tested it with an iPad that had not been upgraded, no problem.

Plug it in for 15 minutes. If it doesn't come on hold the HOME button (the round one) and the SLEEP button (the one on the top) at the same time until an Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). If nothing appears on the screen after 30 seconds you have a dead phone; take it back for exchange.

MacBook Pro - New out of Box won't power up - Please help me

I have reformatted this question several times.
Buy 15" rMBP from Apple Store. Take home. Sits sealed in box on shelf in closet. Open sealed box. Won't power up.
Take back. Genius bar has no idea. No signs of damage - water/fall/fire etc. Cord works. They send to Apple to fix since I have Apple Care (3 year)
Apple Cares says Water Damage. This is impossible. Had out of box 5 minutes. Genuis bar vetted that as possibility.
Apple sends pics from Depot of water logged rMBP. Go back to Apple Store. Genius Bar confirms that it wasn't like that, notes system.
Tech support says pay $1200 to fix, or they are sending back.
What can I do?

Spam emails sent out from my mac/hotmail

Ok. I never had this problem in my 15 years as an email user.
Two weeks ago, spam mails have been sent out from my hotmail account to my contacts. I have changed my password, did the malware scan and removed anything it was flagged.
It has been quiet since then. However, as I logged on today, I noticed 41 mails in my junk folder, labeled as 'Mail System Error - Returned Mail' with the content on some kind of Wal-Mart contest.
Also, I have found one email with the following content:(I have replaced the part where my email was with '(my email was here)'
Any suggestions?? This is driving me crazy!

The way many viruses work on a Windows machine is once it's on there it will mine the address book for e-mail addresses and send out copies of itself using addresses that it finds. So there's nothing you can do on your end. Unless you find all those spam e-mails in your Sent box they weren't sent by you but by somebody with a Windows machine who received an e-mail from you and got a virus.
The address "mta02.xtra.co.nz" shows it was sent from New Zealand. Are you in New Zealand?
