  • Used SEO tool for iWeb now site not displaying properly on iPhone....

    Hello!
I used the SEO tool for Iweb for my site and it;s displaying perfectly on my macbook but when I look at it on my iphone it's a mess... No background, no header, can't change pages etc....
    HELP!
    Thanks in Advance.

So the problem occurs when you use that application.
Does the problem occur when you do not use that application?
If not, then SEO Tools is the problem and iWeb is not involved.

  • How to open iWeb website on SEO Tool for iWeb?

    Hello!
I am trying to use: ¨SEO Tool for iWeb¨ application
But I am not sure how to open my site, or how to find the correct one.

You need to publish your site to your desktop first and then open iWeb SEO and then click on open site and open your published site.
You'll also have to upload your site to your server using an ftp programme too after you have added your tags etc. and you'll have to continue to do this everytime that you update your site - upload again using ftp programme or your site will be over written if you publish directly from iWeb.

  • SEO Tool for iWeb HELP

I have used iWeb('09) to publish to the ftp server, ipage.com. I haven't had a problem, until I downloaded the seo tool. Followed all the directions (even added a favicon!), except 2 of my linked sites do not work. They show up in the SEO program, but when I go to publish it, they don't work. I proceeded to publish from iWeb in order to erase what I had done, but still seems to not work. I know there is a "cache" for iWeb, would this have something to do with it?
    http://www.trdesignsllc.com
"About Us" & "Portfolio" do not work... rest is working.
    Thanks for the help!

It is likely that you didn't put the right URL in the URL field when you exported your website in iWeb to a local folder.
I would Publish Your Entire Site from under the File menu in iWeb to a local folder. Open it up in iWeb SEO Tool and then publish your site with iWeb SEO Tool.
It can also be that your directory path is incorrect. Contact your web hosting provider to get the correct root directory path. Only they know what it is.
If you have more problems, please contact our support and we'd be happy to help!
@Old Toad: Publishing with iWeb SEO Tool to an FTP server should work fine without any problems. Most issues with publishing with iWeb SEO Tool are because of an incorrect directory path. The directory path must be correct and can only be retreived from the user's web hosting provider.

  • Iweb SEO tool or iweb valet

Which is the best iweb SEO tool or iweb valet? or is there a alternative to these?
I have used iweb SEO tool, itweak, RAGE Sitemap Automator, and upload my site http://www.southfarm.co.uk/home.html with Transmit. It is a pain when I have a small update to the site because I have to run all these extras.
Is anybody working with Automator to add meta data, I use this to put in the code for google analytics.

    Hello Roddy,
First of all: one of my motto's is: "live and let live"
I have nothing whatsoever against you nor ragesw.
Why should I ? I've never had the pleasure of meeting you nor him.
So I don't like nor dislike you or him.
My remarks are only on what you and/or he posted on this forum.
In an effort to clear it out, here's a summary:
MobileMe is for personal use, see the Terms of Use. (by Apple, not me)
If you don't agree with Apple's Terms of Use and do want a commercial website with a lot of visitors and thus generate unwanted network load : please, go elsewhere !
My father wants to download pictures of his granddaughter. When he wants to buy something over the internet he'll go to whatsoever website.
    About ragesw:
I've used all his freeware for months, after reading all articles on his website and the articles on Google he is refering to himself + scanned the info about his freeware on Apple Downloads, Versiontracker, Cnet, etc.
Before making a comment on his software, I've always made clear to all that it is only my own experience, in my own situation. I've never said in general that his software "stinks" nor "is great".
My #1 issue with ragesw is :
when I invite people to visit MY webite, my link states : visit MY website.
when ragesw invites people to visit HIS website, his link states : visit THIS website, not MY website.
So, IMHO, my very own personal conclusion is : he's hiding something. What ? Is it a lure to his paid software ? I do not know ! It is my personal 'gut' feeling as I've made clear to all.
    About you:
Eh, I have nothing against you, I've never made any negative/disrespectful comment about you.
So your post leaves me with one question : why do you react as if I 'attacked' you ?
    Kind regards,
    Leo

  • Iweb SEO TOOL for iweb09 any help please Cannot locate my websites???

Hi I have just downloaded iweb SEO tool which sounded so good, but when you start you have to locate my website (which was created on iweb 09) and I cannot find it. It doesn't ask for your web address just comes up with OPEN FILE and you have to locate it manually but I can't find it anywhere? Any ideas as to what it would be stored under on my mac? Has anyone had any succes with this programme?

In +iWeb SEO Tool+, click on the Help menu and choose +iWeb SEO Tool Help+ — it should open a PDF document in Preview. In page 6 of that Help document, it says:
Just open the program and add your iWeb based websites by clicking the ‘Open Website’ button. This option will let you edit a local website folder. That is, a website that you have created in iWeb and selected ‘Publish to Folder’ from the File menu.
If you've published your site to MobileMe's iDisk, then see further down that same p.6: +"Editing a Website on your iDisk"+

  • Can't find my iweb domain file when searching for it in iweb seo tool

I am trying to get my iweb website recognized by Google. Can't seem to get the google html code to work in html snippet. So am now trying to use the iweb seo tool but can't find my iweb domain file when searching for it in iweb seo tool. My file is in user/library/applicationsupport/iweb/name.sites2
It shows in the folder but is not active, so I can't choose it.

The SEO ftp client is not what I'd recommend using. Once you add the metadata to a local copy of the files use a 3rd party ftp client like the free Cyberduck to upload the files. Much more reliable.
Google does not use keywords for it's searches although other search engines do. Create a test page on your site (leave it out of the navbar) and try adding Google Analytics to it with Wyodor's instructions. If you get it to work then all you need to do is copy and paste the HTML snippet from the test page into your site pages.
For information on visitors to your site you can also use StatCounter. It records the number of visitors and a lot more: where they are from, what browser used, which page visited and what site/page then came from for just a few. SC is easy to add to the pages as you get the code for your account, put it in an HTML snippet add the snippet to each page. Old Toad's Tutorial #13 - Adding a StatCounter as an HTML Snippet describes how to do it.
Again use a test page or a separate test site to work out the details before adding to your site pages.

  • IWeb SEO Tool not working

I've think I fully understand the procedure to add Meta tags and change the Titles for pages created by iWeb using the iWeb SEO Tool but it is just not working for me, can somebody help?
The site in question www.thepropertyphotoclinic.co.uk is an iWeb constructed site uploaded by FTP to a server (not MobileMe). As I understand it I publish this site to a folder on my Mac. I then access this (folder) site using the SEO Tool. I add tags, headers etc. At first I assumed you could then republish by the FTP from iWeb with the new tags in place. I now understand that you have to publish by FTP using the 'publish' button on the SEO Tools dialogue. This I have done, but the tags and titles do not appear on the published site (when I check 'view source' in Safari).
    1. Why after taking about 10 minutes to publish via SEO Tools doea the site not appear with tags?
    2. Do I take it that had this method worked for me, I would have to do this whole procedure EVERY time I make a change to the website? ie, publish to a folder, reapply the tags, re-upload? This would be impossible for one of my sites which changes daily and is about 300Mb, as it takes hours to upload.
    Heeeelp!!

Your title tags are present in the HTML files and at the top of the browser window. Perhaps you didn't empty the browser cache and refresh the window when you viewed it?
You have to publish your site to a local folder to be able to add title tags, meta tags and meta descriptions whether you use iWeb SEO Tool or an editor. The advantage of the Tool is that it remembers the previously applied tags and, if you haven't added any pages or changed them significantly, refreshing them is a matter of moments.
Apart from adding tags, the other very important reason for publishing to a local folder is to optimize your files. This will result in pages that download around 50% faster in the browser and is particularly important for a business site.
Rage software's WebCrusher and Ton Brands Web Site Maestro will not only do this but also upload the changed files only....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/SearchEngines/Optimize.html
When you add pages, hyperlinks or make significant changes to your site you should also refresh and upload the sitemap.xml and notify the search engines. Sitemap Automator takes all the work out of this time consuming task....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/SearchEngines/Sitemap.html
There is a workflow that has to be repeated every time you publish. You can get a copy of the checklist by going to this page.....
    http://www.iwebforbusiness.com/SEO/SEO-Book-Sample-Request.html
Although the optimizer applications will find and upload the changed files only, I also build larger sites - bigger than about 3Mb - in sections on separate domain files to make them easier to handle and update.....

  • Iweb SEO tool question

I tried to add a don't follow don't index tag to the header section
in the site settings tab in iweb SEO but then after applying it to the entire
site and uploading the pages I wanted including this tag found that
except for a few elements the pages once uploaded looked blank.
So I went back and deleted the new tag out of iweb SEO but now it
is still messing up the pages I try and use it with.
I have a huge site and tons of tags entered in the iweb SEO tool
and so I don't want to start fresh.
It all looks okay in the tool but it is messing up every page on the site
in the same way when I apply the tool.
Is there anyway I can do some kind of reset without losing all my titles and
    tags?
I have searched the web and Rage softwares site but can't
find an answer to this so if anyone here has any ideas I would really appreciate it.
I don't even really care about the don't follow tags now - I just want to fix my site.

Please email us and we can help you solve this problem. Please include your website URL and anymore details such as a screenshot of what the page looks like after applying your tags.
You can take a screenshot by holding down the COMMAND and SHIFT keys on your keyboard and then pressing the number 3. An image file will appear on your desktop, please send that to me. If your email client asks, select the option to send the full size, or original image file.
I suspect this is a very easy thing to fix once we have more details about the problem.

  • IWeb SEO tool question about tagging images: what do others do?

I've been reading everybody's posts and started to use iWeb SEO Tool to add meta tags to all my pages. (since google couldn't verify my site with html) The page titles, keywords, and meta tags are relatively easy to decide on, but I don't know what to do about some of the images.
If it's a definite photo of a subject, no problem, but what about those pesky shapeimage5_link0 and shapeimage_1.jpg files?
What do i name them ? line 1, thicker line 2, arrow? (I'm being flippant here, ... really).
I've just been calling them 'stained glass link' or 'next arrow link' but that's pretty dull.
In some cases (for the lines) i've titled them with the name of the webpage again, but with several lines on the page, that tag is repeated, a lot. (And i read that if you repeat the same tag too frequently, your site is banned from google, which i don't want.)
I thought they didn't matter too much but when i did a search from one of the search engines, the description of the web page actually included shapeimage5a.png or some such thing, and i don't want that to appear in people's searches !!
So what do other people do about these? How do you name them?
    Thanks for the suggestions
    Elizabeth

You'll get instructions about the HTML verification file here....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/SearchEngines/Tools.html
The main thing with images is TEXT. Put a text caption for each. If possible, don't use the iWeb Photos and Albums templates.
Put a text description at the top of every page with keywords in both the title and text. The spiders will pick up on this.
If you don't do this, at least put a fairly long title tag in. Make sure the first few words are descriptive of the page so that they are relevant to a page bookmark.
If the search engines are picking up on stuff like "shapeimage5_link0" it means that you haven't supplied any unique and relevant text!

  • SEO tool, image tagging-is it possible using iWeb photo album?

    Hi,
Quaetion as above really, I've recently started to use the Rage SEO tool to tag my website, I came to start doing the images within the iWeb photo album and it cant access these, I read on here(04/09) its because its Javascript, is there a way round this yet, other than creating a html page for each photo myself? With over 100 photos to show this isnt my preference, as there is a lot more work involved in the iweb construction.
    Any help greatly apprected
    Cheers
    Paul

How long have you waited before trying to find your images? Google can take 2 weeks or longer to list them. Secondly, your images might not return results for thousands of pages depending on the keywords you used. It will also help to submit a sitemap as discussed.
Your Lightroom keywords are for Lightroom/searching use, not web use.
There are free photo galleries you can add your photos to and link to from your website, but unless you're willing to get into something fairly complicated, this will not help the search ranking of your actual site (though it may help get the images themselves ranked).
Another alternative is to create a few separate pages with a single picture on each, a good text description, image name and ALT text, and then link to your complete photo gallery for people to view. This might be worth doing with images which have unusual keywords or phrases (and so people would be likely to return them when searching).
Getting your pictures ranked in Google image search, whilst useful in some ways, can end up being counter-productive as people are more likely to just grab your image for their own use (or ignore it if it's water-marked) and not even visit your website.

  • How do I get site analytics with iWeb 09 MobileMe Rage iWeb SEO tool?

I have two sites of consideration both registered and forwarded from GoDaddy:
    bicycedriver.com    several pages
    bicycledriver.org     just one page
I was not getting site analytics data on referring sites and search engine/keyword data with code applied to bicycledriver.COM. Thats the site I'm interested in getting data. Then with the iWeb SEO tool, I accidentally applied the StatCounter and Godaddy Site Analytics code to bicycledriver.ORG, another one of several sites.
Now I get referring sites and searchengine/keyword data on bicycledriver.ORG but NOT on bicycledriver.COM
Should I find some way to reverse the above situation,... what would that be, or can someone tell me what's going on and how to fix it?
    David

    Ethmoid:
You're right.  I did know that, got it from this post by Akdream but miscopied it to my note pad where I copy and paste.  Thanks.
    bicycledriver:
There is no performance difference between CNAME and regular URL forwarding.  But if you mask with URL forwarding then the restrictions that Ethmoid pointed out come into play.
The drawback to using domain name forwarding with masking:
Visitors can only enter your web site via the first page.
Visitors can only bookmark the first page of your site.
If a visitor refreshes a page they will be taken back to the first page of the site.k
Search engines will only be able to use the first page of your site for indexing and rating your site.
#4 is a big drawback.  That can seriously minimize what search engines can learn about your site.

  • I changed web hosts and can't publish through iWeb SEO Tool or Rage Site Map Automator. Do I need to delete the old site map?

I switched to iPage hosting since Mobile Me is expiring. Also recently upgraded to OS X 10.7.3 and am using iWeb 3.0.4 for my web site design. I published directly to the FTP from iWeb but all title tags, meta tags have disappeared and I'm not showing up in Google or others. I tried publishing from iWeb SEO but it couldn't complete the process.
Should I first publish to a folder as I did before with Mobile Me, then delete all old sitemaps and start over with the Site Map Automator and then try to publish from the SEO tool? Will I lose the key words and meta tags that are already in iWeb SEO?
    Thanks!

The problem is that most tech support people don't understand how iWeb structures a site.
When a visitor types in "domain-name-com" the browser expects to find an index.html in the root folder on the server. In "normal" websites the index.html file is the first page of the site.
The iWeb index.html file is a redirect to the first, or landing, page of the site which is the one at the top of the left column in iWeb just below the site name.
    iWeb produces two index.html files.
One is outside of the folder containing the rest of the files and directs to - folder-name/home-page-name.html
The other one is inside the folder and directs to - home-page-name.html
You have two choices of how you upload the files since you are publishing to a local folder.
You can upload the whole folder plus the external index.html to the root folder on the server and the URL to any page will be...
    http://www.domain-name.com/site-name/page-name.html
If you upload the contents of the site folder, and not the folder or the external index.html, the URL will be...
    http://www.domain-name.com/page-name.html
See this page for more info and the warning about breaking the RSS feed....

  • Can't find correct site in Iweb seo tool

I've got several sites built in Iweb. The first one is published through mobileme. My others are through godaddy. I may have a mess with how this site is named, as I changed the domain name of it after I initially published it. I am clicking "open website" and opening all the different folders with variations of what i have this thing named (the domain is jimsavage.net; on the left hand side of Iweb it's titled JIMSAVAGE)
I find one folder that is old stuff, when I first began working on it, the one titled JIMSAVAGE has nothing in it. There's one called JIM_SAVAGE.NET that has numerous pages that are titled "blank"_x.) I don't find anything that has the current site.
I'd appreciate any help- i realize this may be tough to make sense of.

iWeb SEO Tool saves the info for each site in the same way that most apps do. Just add a new site in this window...
Make sure you have updated to the latest version V 2.1...

  • Title Tags not working with iWeb SEO Tool

I created my website using iWeb and realizing iWeb is very controlling over title tags and such, I downloaded the iWeb SEO Tool.  I have recorded my title tags and codes but when I search my site on google, Home is still recorded as the title tag.  I even went so far as to add an HTML Snippet to change the title tag using java script but still no luck.  Please help!

    The main question is :
Does the title you added show in the browser title bar?
If it does then SEO tools did its job.
But don't expect Google to stand waiting next to you and updates its database after you pressed the ok button.
Check again in a few weeks/months.
And do not waste your time with that silly application or using a JavaScript in the HTML Snippet for the intended purpose. Google does not execute the JavaScript.
Just read this very carefully :
iWeb uses the textbox in the Header layer of an iWeb page as the title in the browserwindow.
Do not remove the original textbox, as you cannot replace it other than by selecting another theme and then change it back to the original theme again. Ruining the layout in the process.
If the textbox in the Header is missing, iWeb uses a textbox down the page in the Content layer. If that textbox is also missing, it uses another textbox. If that fails it uses the pagename in the Sidebar.
Sometimes you may want a different text in the titlebar and not display it on the page itself. Or not display it at all.
So use that textbox in the Header layer. Type your text. Then select the textbox. In the Inspector choose T, click a color to open the color palette and drag the opacity slider to 0 (zero).
Do Command-T to open the font palette and make the font smaller. (Or do Command--(minus)) Also use a font that doesn't change to an image. Arial is a good font. Perhaps do it first before making the text invisble.
Resize the textbox. You may want to change the height of the Header layer.
Do Command-Shift-B to move the textbox to the back, possibly behind other objects.
Next add a optional second textbox to the Header layer and use that one to display text on the page.
If you want to move the textbox to the front again to make changes, but can't remember the location on the page, drag the area with the mouse to select the objects.
Deselect objects you do not want to move forward by Command-dragging the mouse over these objects.
Next do Command-Shift-F to move the textbox to the front. Repeat the steps in reverse order to make the text visible.
    Practice.
Then concentrate on creating interesting webpages.
