Separate iTunes account, same computer??

My brother just bought an iPhone (jealous of mine). He wants to use my Mac to setup an iTunes account. I already have one on my Mac under my name. My question is: Is there any way he can put his music on his iPhone without interfering with my iTunes music catalogue? (We have WAAAAAAAAY different tastes in music!!)

Simply create a new computer login on the computer for him.

  • Multiple separate Itunes accounts same computer

I have an iTunes account for myself, connected to my computer.  I sync both my iPhone and iPad to it.
My daughter got a new iPad for Christmas, with her OWN iTunes account.  I don't want to mix the different devices.
How can I keep the 2 separate?  The new iPad doesn't even attempt to sync... and only shows my apps, not hers.
I did sign out of my iTunes account, and logged in with her account information... but nothing changed on the library or anything.

Give her her own account on the computer, and let her have her own library.  That is the best and least confusing way to keep things separate.
In Windows, Start > Control Panel > Add or remove user accounts.

  • Two separate itunes accounts on the same computer

Ok I need help before I throw my computer and iphones.
I have two separate itunes accounts, and two separate iphones. I'm using the same computer.
I'm trying to sync my wife's iphone to her itunes account on my laptop, but it keeps wanting to load my apps to her phone.
Now I signed out of my itunes, and signed into her's.
How come itunes is pulling my apps up and wanting to sync them to her phone?
I authorized her phone to my laptop as well.
This doesn't make sense at all.
How can I just start from scratch and just have itunes backup what's on her phone, and thats it?

The issue is this is referring to music, I'm asking about applications.
If I setup a new user on my laptop, when I open itunes, isn't it going to just pull the same data in itunes already?
And if this is the way to fix it, I would need to have a separate user on my laptop for every device that isn't linked to my itunes account? (seems extreme)

  • Can I have two separate iTunes accounts on the same computer?

Can I have two separate iTunes accounts on the same computer?  My wife's music is much different than mine.  Can we have different iTunes libraries to work with on the same computer?

Yes. Launch iTunes with the Shift key held down as needed, or use separate Windows user accounts on the computer.

I have 11 on my SnowLeopard macbook and 10 on my newer 10.7.5 iMac.

  • How can I set up my Mac Pro so that my wife and I can use our separate iTunes accounts? I keep getting an error message that the computer is already associated with an Apple ID even though the two accounts are associated with separate log ins!

I'm getting very confused with setting up multiple user accounts on my Mac Pro for my wife and I. We each have a separate iTunes account, and we want to keep our music libraries seaprate. I've set up two user accounts on the Mac Pro and I have my iTunes authorised and logged into my user account on my user account. Under my wifes user account (i.e. a separate log in on the computer) I'm trying to set up her iTunes account, but I can't download or play anything from the cloud - it just says "This computer is already associated with another iTunes Account" and tells me that if I 'transfer' then I won't be able to use the other one for 90 days! This is really annoying as my wife can't access music she has purchased on her iTunes account on the home machine. We're not trying to do anything dodgy, just access our music on our own accounts on separate log ins on the same machine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Allan, thanks for that. I've already set up a log in for my wife and that is all working fine. The problem is that when she logs in and opens iTunes and trys to associate her library with her iTunes account she gets the error message "This computer is already associated with another iTunes account". Whilst this is true, the computer is associated with my iTunes account under my separate log in, which should have nothing to do with hers. If she transfers the association to her account it will lock me out of my content on my log in for 90 days - I'm trying to work out how to associate each of the log in accounts with a separate iTunes account so we can access our music independently of one another without locking each other out. Hope that makes sense!

  • HT2542 Can we have two separate itunes accounts using the same mac?

I am wanting to download music to my Thunderbolt smart phone (i know, no iphone yet, next upgrade) and I want to use itunes to do it. My partner has an itunes account and I thought I opened my own itunes account, but apparently I didn't. I don't like the same music and only want to download music I like to my phone. Can we just have one account and be able to download checked music from the itunes to multiple devices?

    I'm confused

Can we just have one account and be able to download checked music from the itunes to multiple devices?
Do you want one or two?
By the way, and iTunes account is really the thing you use online to purchase music, not what you have on a computer.  You have user accounts on a computer, and you have iTunes libraries or collections of media.  You can have multiple user accounts on a computer.  You can have a single or multiple user accounts use a single or multiple libraries.  We need to know exactly what it is you have/want.

  • Can I run two separate ITune Accounts & Libraries and ipods on one computer

I have a friend visiting for a month and they want to use their IPod Nano and ITunes account on my computer. i.e. purchase and download their own songs via Itunes, sync with their Ipod etc. the same way they would on their own home computer, while they are here.
I already have Itunes installed on my computer for my own IPod Shuffle, and related account for buying music etc. and want to continue to sync my Ipod through my own account of course
Is there a way I can have both of these Ipods functioning fully with separate Itune accounts and libraries on my computer? How do I do this?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

OK.... I've ran into a problem and don't know how to proceed with this.
The 2nd user is set up with their ITunes account and we have successfully purchased a few songs.
What I expected to do was sync their Ipod and have the songs already on their IPod copy into the "new" Library we just set up. However, indications are that if I use "sync", it will erase the songs presently on the IPod and then only put back the few new songs we just purchased. (I tried a few other things but cannot get the songs from the IPOD into the ITunes Library or any other folder to preserve them)
    1. If it is even possible, how do I get the songs off the IPod into the newly established Library?
    2. If I indeed cannot sync the IPOD / Library - how do I get the newly purchased songs from the Library to the IPOD without erasing the songs already on the Ipod.
    Thanks, hope you can help!

  • 2 SEPARATE iTunes Accounts on 1 Computer?

I have had an iTunes account for years. Now my brother wants one. I wanted to know if it is at all possible to have two completely separate iTunes accounts on the same computer. His and mine would be inaccessible to the other. Like if he signed into his account, he wouldn't have my songs and videos in his Library. And when I sign into my account, I wouldn't have any of his music or videos in my Library. I just wanted to know if it is possible. If so, then how can I do it?

Do you mean you want to have his own itunes library and own itunes store account, but share the same itunes content?
If so, choose method 1 from this article. I think it's what roaminggnome meant to post.

  • Can I have 2 different IPods on the same itunes account and computer?

    I have a nano gen. 4 and a new nano 7.
Can I have them both on my itunes account and computer?
    thanks

Yes. You can easily have multiple iPods on the same iTunes account on the same computer. Each iPod will show up with its name when plugged in, and each iPod can have its own set of preferences (i.e., what music, videos, photos, audiobooks, etc. to sync).
What you can't do easily is use the same iPod on multiple computers with different instances of iTunes. One instance of iTunes has to be "in charge" of an iPod.

  • Can I home share two separate itunes accounts to the same homeshare?

I would like to home share two separate iTunes accounts we have at the house.  Has anyone done that? Or am I forced to consolidate to one iTunes account which only allows 5 authorized computers?

Yes you can set up homesharing on more than one library to be shared with other devices, just use the same homesharing ID and password on all of them.
