Each device only syncs waht you select.
Select only what you want for each phone.

  • How do I set up 2 separate music libraries

    Hi,
My dad and I use the same computer for our ipods. We would like to have 2 music libraries but I can only work out how to set up 2 accounts on the itune store.
At the moment, whenever we plug in either of the ipods it just automatically brings up my music library.
    Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to AD!
I recommend Method 1 from this article. That way all ratings & playcoutns will be separate.

  • Is is possible to have two separate music libraries on itunes?

I have an itouch and have a lot of songs on my itunes on the pc. My stepdad now has an ipod but wants his own music library and not be combined with all of my music.
Is this possible to do and if so how?

Method 1 might be better for separate libraries. Then you can have your own ratings and play counts.

Make sure to read the link about sharing music between windows accounts on the same PC.

  • 2 Music Libraries

Is there any way to set up two separate music libraries on the same computer? I have an external hard drive that I would like to store most of my music on and keep a smaller library on my laptop to use when I travel w/o having to use all the drive space. It seems it would be simpler to switch between libraries rather than having to load and delete source files everytime I want to update my Ipod with older music files etc.

Well you could just put the most wanted/listened too source files on the laptop and set the ipod to "Manual update" or just pack the external drive with you

I have 3 users on one computer with 3 unique user accounts.  Each of us have separate and unique ITunes accounts.  How do we share our music libraries using Home Sharing?  Everything that I can find talks about sharing between networked computers, but this is all on the same computer.  I just want to share between ITunes accounts.  Thanks!

Hi b noir, I also have two users on one pc with two different iTunes libraries.  But I also want to put them onto an external hard drive so that I can free up some memory on the pc.  So I figure I need to consolidate the two users iTunes libraries first before moving to hard drive?  But not quite sure how to do that on the iTunes 11?  Thanking you in advance!!

Why, if it told you you have insufficient space on your computer, would it suggest making more space available on your phone?
At a guess, you have insufficient space on your phone. Installing software will typically require more space than the final size of the software, perhaps even twice or three times as much, for the installation process. You can easily dump some videos or music temporarily, and then synch them back in afterwards.

  • How do I merge different music libraries on the same computer. I have Iphone and an ipod

I have an Iphone and my wife has ipod nano. We both have different music libraries. Itunes on my mac doesnot allow the merging of libraries. Is there a way of doing so without lossing the music

You can have identical libraries (contents, playlists and related information) if you set each user's account to reference the same .itl file.
Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base for details on how to do so.
By using the Choose Library option and linking the accounts to the same .itl file, the libraries will be the same and changes made to one will be reflected in the others.
If you don't want completely identical Libraries but just access to the same files to build separate Libraries with, see this article .

    Why?
If you are syncing separate iDevices, you can use the same library and sync different content
I don't know how to move between the two.  Please help?
Same way you created two library.
Hold Option. laucn iTunes but instead of selecting Create library..., select Choose library...

  • Separate itune libraries on 1 mac computer

I am wanting 2 separate itunes libraries on my computer or something similar, where files are separate and using my music group won't interfere with using my wife's.  Can someone help?
I have tried numerous suggestions that I "googled" but none seemed to be any help whatsoever.

Quit itunes, and then reopen while holding down option. it will promp you to quit, choose a library, or create a new library. Click create a new library, and name it something you can find easily later. I reccomend that you save it in /home folder/music. Import media you want to, and you are good to go. When you want to change libraries, launch itunes holding option, and click choose library. Choose the library you want to open. You can also just create a new user account.

  • Syncing music on 2 different iPods/music libraries w/o importing the CDs twice ?

Hello to you all support community,
Here's the thing : my brother and I bought together the full 2009 Beatles remaster box with their complete recordings and all.
We both have an iPod and separate iTunes libraries on separate accounts on the same Mac. Here's the really stupid thing : if we both want to have the 2009 Beatles remaster on our iPods we need to have it on both libraries on both accounts, thus we need to import the CDs twice, once on each account, once for each iTunes library !
That makes no sense : the data (a few gigabytes worth of music) will be written twice on the very same hard drive, where we only bought the music once, for the both of us. Sharing libraries does not fix that at all as it does not enable cross-syncing of parts of our music. And we don't want to share an iTunes library because we don't have all of our music in common, nor do we want to share an account for similar reasons.
What is there to be done ? Is it a matter of author rights violation ? That won't change anyways, because the result is the same : the music from CD or set of CDs is synced twice on two different iPods, wether we import it twice on two different libraries or find a way to share the music and then import it just once. Thanks for helping !

No, not on this computer as i only copy the music i want from this library to my iPod.
Yes i am managing it manually by copying it myself and now i wanted to switch to syncing the music only.
The Sync Apps is currently checked but when i try to uncheck it it said to remove all my apps from the iPod.

  • 2 ipods, 3 Macs, and 2 music libraries

Asking this is a little confusing, even for me....
My husband has an iPod and an iMac, I have a iPod and a Macbook (and another iMac). Is it possible to install 2 music libraries on my Macbook so that when we travel we can both have our libraries to sync our separate iPods?

    Hi,
I think the easiest thing to do would be create two separate accounts on the macbook, then import music as you like into each of the accounts from iMacs. You may even be able to "move" your iTunes music library to the Public folder in each account, so then both users can access all the music.
Adding music to the iTunes Music Library from other macs will require the macbook and each iMac to be networked for copying files. If you are familiar with networking macs, then adding music to each library is a breeze.
I do not have an iPod, so I can not say for sure, but I would suspect that more than one ipod can be synced to the same computer if separate accounts are used. But I am not sure of that.
    Just some thoughts, JON

  • HT1473 My girlfriend and I both have iTunes account with our own music libraries and we want to combine our two libraries into one icloude accounts so can both then access our one shared libary at anytime in the cloud.  How do we do this?

No it is not possible.  Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.
