Separating business and personal contacts ie. groups

I find it somewhat surprising that the iOS Contacts doesn't support grouping if any form since it is available in the OS X version. Namely of course, as it is used in OS X, this is beneficial for multi-recipient communication. I figure this would be rather easily extended to iOS as well.
Personally I'd like to use it to separate my personal and my business contacts. With that in mind, I'd also like to see these features:
the ability to set Company as a visible field when receiving an incoming call (ie. I don't necessarily remember all my business contacts by name, but their company name would add needed context to figure out who I'm about to talk to)
the ability to view all contacts or by group in Contacts
the ability to limit group access by time and/or date, and specifically the remove certain groups from Spotlight results in a preset time frame and/or even disable calling/messaging all together. In practice, I rarely have a need to access my business contacts' information outside of office hours and this would prevent any accidental calls or messaging and declutter my fairly long list of contacs
the ability to assign different ring tones for different groups
and of course, the ability to send messages to all the contacts in a specific group
So all in all, merely support groups and then add a few features around that.
I've sent this to Apple's feedback but maybe if this gets some support here too they'll react (I have no idea how much Apple participates here).

Hi,
So why Agenda is working fine and doesn't synchronise private meeting ?
I am sure that field "Private" is missing in BB Software !
BB, please fix-it !

  • Separating business and personal contacts

I recently moved to a BlackBerry Curve from a Palm Treo.  Our company used to use Goodlink to sync data from Outlook to my device.  In order to keep my personal contact information private I created a separate contacts folder in Outlook which did not sync with my company's servers.  I then used PocketMirror to sync the extra file to the phone.  It wasn't the cleanest solution as I had business contacts in Goodlink and personal contacts in the phone's contact file, but it worked.
I want to keep my personal contact information off of my company's server.  Is there any way to do this with the Curve?

  • Separate business and personal contacts/calendar on Exchange enabled phone?

I'm a new iPhone user (3gsi) with Exchange support enabled. What I would like to do is manage my business and personal contacts and calendar separately with work items syncing with Exchange and personal items with something else (like Google Calendar/Contacts). Is it possible to separate this way and possibly even manage it all together using the existing calendar and contact apps? I am not interested in the MobileMe service.
Example - I add a personal contact and I dont want it to sync with Exchange, but Google contacts would be nice. Or I add a calendar item that I want to sync with Google calendar instead of Exchange.
    Thx!

With an Exchange account syncing business contacts and calendar events over the air, you can also sync personal contacts and calender events direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process. You can view business and personal contacts and calendar events combined or separately on the iPhone.
With Windows, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007. With a Mac, this can be with the Address Book and iCal.
Or you can sync personal contacts and calendar events over the air with a MobileMe account while doing the same for business contacts and calendar events with an Exchange account.
You can access a Gmail account as an Exchange account via ActiveSync with the iPhone's Mail client, which provides for syncing personal contacts and calendar events over the air, but you can't access two Exchange accounts via ActiveSync with the iPhone's Mail client. This is not supported with ActiveSync with a Windows Mobile device either.

  • Keeping Business and Personal Contacts Separate?

I have a MS Exchange account at work and use Entourage for my personal contacts on my home computer.
Would it be possible to have both sets of info sync to my phone? I know the iphone has active sync for the Exchange data but then, would it be possible to sync with my home computer without having them then uploaded to my company's exchange server next time activesync connects?
I imagine a lot of people would want to do something like this??

  • Business and personal contacts

I use my iphone5 for business and personal. I want to have 2 completely separate lists for business and personal contacts. I know I can use groups but I want 2 completely separate lists, 2 different buttons on the screen.

Then look for an app in the app store, as iOS does not provide what you're looking for.

Set up an additional user account and use one for work and one for personal stuff - each will have a separate address book. Turn on fast user switching for easy switching between the two.

  • ActiveSync and Personal Contact Groups for Mobile (incl Windows Phone)

    Hello,
As more MDM's (including BES10, Airwatch, native Windows Phone etc - besides Good For Enterprise) are moving towards EAS for enterprise e-mail sync, and I myself have 2 devices which have forced me to use EAS, I noticed that the various personal contact
groups that I've created in Outlook are no longer available from these devices. Only on my BES 7 blackberry torch can I still find the personal distribution lists a.k.a. contact groups (not from GAL, but created in outlook) to appear, probably since it doesn't
use EAS.Is there a way to enable syncing personal distribution lists? It seems to be a real productivity killer to not have this ability and to try and remember the group's members or select them especially for larger lists each time.
    Thank you

Thanks for the reply (although the link you provided is referencing using Outlook 2013 for Outlook.com type hosted accounts). My situation is Outlook in an on-prem enterprise Exchange environment but with mobile devices that connect to exchange via EAS.
If the response is still the same, then my follow up question is - why not? And what is the alternative to "contact groups" in the EAS world?

  • Separate Work and personal CONTACTS (not BB Balance)

Is there an alternative way to have separate CONTACTS (work and personal) in a BB Z10 for us whom do not have BB Balance. I just want this for the contacts, and perhaps the text messages, I do not need the security and all other features that Balance or a BES provides... If not, do you guys know if BLACKBERRY is planning on doing this for a future update? Seems like a very useful feature...

Open Contacts, at the bottom - All, Search, select 'New Group' create Group Name then add contacts.
Suggest you name them 1business and 1private etc., then the groups will be at the top of the list. Existing contacts will just be duplicated in Groups.

  • Both business and personal icloud acts on one device?

I have a personal iCloud account that I use for business on my iPhone and the business Computer...Can I create an iCloud account for business and keep them separate or am I stuck with having everything personal (notes, calendars etc.) on the business computer?  And if so, if I delete the personal account off my phone, does my contacts stay on the phone?

You can add a second account in System Preferences/Settings>Mail, Contacts & Calendars. The data will appear alongside the original account; you won't get 'Push' email - it will check the server periodically - and you can't use PhotoStream with the secondary account.
Signing out of an iCloud removes the data from the device because it all lives on the server and is read from there by the device (like webmail). When you sign back in it reappears.
You might want to think about business use though: iCloud is positioned for personal use - the email service has no telephone support and no guaranteed uptime, and using an @icloud.com address indicates that you are using a free service. If I were in business I would use a proper business account with full support (it might still be cheaper than business lost through any mail outages) and my own domain name for the address (which isn't expensive).

  • Separating work and personal phone?

I have a personal phone and a work phone, and even though they are separate numbers, everything is synced the same to both. They both receive my messages, emails, etc. How do I set them up as different phones, and still use one computer to sync them? I don't want my work contacts on my personal phone and vice versa!

Get separate Apple ID's for each phone...must be verified email addresses...then use these ID's for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage. You can continue to use the same Apple ID, on both phones, for iTunes content. As to your contacts, create groups on your computer & then only sync whatever group you want on each phone. iTunes will then keep track of everything, by device, including separate backups.

  • Multiple skype accounts - business and personal.

I have used skype for quite some time now, and I have a personal account that I always use. However my company is requiring that I log in my business account from time to time and use the Skype Business client. Are there any major differences between the business and free client? Can I login my personal account from the business client?

No, the system isn't setup to let us do things like that...this question comes up very frequently and there just isn't a work-around.
Maybe you should try pinging Apple with feedback, especially from the enterprise side, and see if that helps.

Want to have multiple home buttons on the browser bar to "group" home pages.

You can use folders on the Bookmarks Toolbar to place multiple links in one such folder group and middle-click such a folder to open all links in it in tabs.

  • How can I keep business email and personal email seperate?

I have both enterprise server business email, and a personal email account (bellsouth.net), setup on my 9300.  The enterprise business email and my phone log post under my regular "messages" icon.  The personal email appears under both the regular message icon and a 2nd message icon (envelope with a small globe).
    I would like to:
    1. keep my business and personal email accounts completely seperate under different icons.
    2. discontinue logging my phone calls under the "messages" icon.
    3. have it check my personal email only when I request it to, not automatically.
    Can someone help with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jay.

Open your Messages folder > Options > Inbox settings and you'll see the mailboxes to include in your main folder, and those to keep separate from your main folder.
    2. discontinue logging my phone calls under the "messages" icon.
Open your Call Log by pressing the green dial button > Options > Call Logging and disclude any logging.
    3. have it check my personal email only when I request it to, not automatically.
Not possible. RIM's BlackBerry email is push, and not pull. You can't set a schedule or do it manually.

  • How to change Business partner PERSON in GTS system

    Hi,
I have developed an program to create business partner (Person, Contact person and Organization). But now I have to include code for changing Business partner.
I have used BAPI_BUPA_FS_CREATE_FROM_DATA2   BAPI for Person creation. But now I am not finding any BAPI to change PERSON business partner.
Let me know a BAPI or any other way to change PERSON BP.
    Thanks
    Atanu Das

    Hi experts,
I am facing the exact same issue and was wondering:
    1.  Are there specific authorization objects that I can use to limit access on the web UI based on BP roles?  I found authorization object B_BUPA_RLT.  But does this work for just SAP GUI or web GUI as well?
    2.  I have read threads relating to another solution, to use a BADI to alternate configuration views.  Are there any other alternative solutions that are purely configuration based?
    Vinay,
Could you provide details on which solution you eventually went with to solve your problem?
    Thanks,
    jo
