Separation of DB and CI

Hi,
I want to separate the db of a DB2 UDB 8 system on NW2004s from the central instance. Is there any guide on that topic? What I've done so far is installing the administration client on the new CI server and copied the sap filesystems over. Profiles are adapted to the new server. Now how do I connect to the database?

Usually you dont need to perform this step.
Of course I would move the /sapmnt/<SID> filesystem to the new CI Host and export/mount it from there , but this is a task separate from the CI Installation .

Do I also need to go thrugh the database instance part? Or can I directly go to CI? I tried that and I got the following error:

So I guess I still have to do the Database Instance part, just to tell sapinst that the db is already installed on a remote host?

No , don't perform the Database installation Part , because the Database is already installed
Did you share your /sapmnt/<SID>/profile directory .
If yes , please check , if sapinst created an new DEFAULT.PFL otherwise mount /sapmnt/<SID>/profile on your new CI Host .
I suppose this Error occurs , because you don't have an
SAPDBHOST=
entry in the DEFAULT.PFL of your new CI Host .

Separation of GI and GR in REM

Hi Experts,
I am having problem in REM for separtion of Gr from GI in backflush.
Clients want to do GR first and GI on next day for same planned order. I tried by removing tick for GR/GI backflush in REM profile. But it does not work. We can do either GR or GI only. If I do GR backflush, same planned order is not available for GI backflush on next day.
Is there need to use Process control profile in REM profile for separation of GR and GI backflush? If yes please provide me step by step process. or is there any other method?

Hi,
For separating backflush process u have to define and assign the process control profile at REM profile.
Execute Good Issue at MF70 separately. i think u cannot execute the separating backflush for Planned order.
If u are working with MTS, u cannot execute the separating backflush with reference to the Planned order.Inthat case system will cumulate the GR quantity based on the selection criteria which u would have given at MF70 and will issue the components.

Report generation toolkit: Avoid a separation of title and image at pagebreak in a work document.

I want to generate a report with the report generation toolkit in LV7.1.
In that report I use several report VIs to append text, titles and frontpanel images to a word document template (Office 2003). That works fine.
Depending on the size and text of my generated report, I have sometimes a problem with pagebreaks: A image is set to a new page if there is not enough space to place it on the old one. That’s ok. The text/title above the image is still on the old page. That's right, but I don’t want this. I know in Word you can use the paragraph formatting options to avoid a separation. But with the corresponding VI from the toolkit (word format paragraph (adv)) it seems not to work. With this VI you should have access to "indents and spacing" and to "line and page breaks". I always and only can change the "indents and spacing". En- or Disabling line or page breaks with this VI does not work, nothing changes in a word document.
Has anyone some suggestions or other solutions?

Thanks for your input. You are right, that works and could be an alternative.
In the meantime I found a solution with creating my own activex vi instead of that from the toolkit as you can see in the attached image. Maybe this could help someone with similar problems...

Color Separations in InDesign and Illustrator

I am trying to print spot color separations. In both InDesign and Illustrator the "separations" is gray. I can only print RGB and grayscale.
My colors are set up as spot. I even tried to print from Acrobat and "separations" is gray there also. Do I need to re-install my drivers or the programs.
I am trying to print to postscript printers but neither one lets me select separations.
I am using CS3

I’m not familiar with those models. Are the PostSCript compatible? If so, then you should get the most recent drivers from the manufacturers’ websites. It’s been ages since I needed to worry about printer drivers in Windows, but maybe you need a PostScript printer utility or printer driver from Adobe, too.

FSCM-COL: Worklist separated by invoices and credit notes

Hi all,
We are implementing FSCM-COL and in the u2018Process Receivablesu2019 screen, in the tab "Invoices", there is a split between invoices and credit notes,in two separate lists. The documents are not displayed together!
As a basic requirement for a collection contact, a single list is required, in order to be possible to sort all open items and enable
greater efficiency during the customer contact.
Do you know how this separation is done (by posting key for instance...?) and if we can change this....
Or this is standard functionality of the worklist ?

This is standard.
Credits are normally a different colour.
The worklist should be used by the team to define what the customers owe's and what they should pay.
Total overdue - disputed items not resolved = amount to be collected.

Separating ASM home and DATABASE home?

I just installed a new 2 node cluster on linux Itanium and I have configured my CLUSTERWARE_HOME and DATABASE_HOME. We are using ASM for our database storage and I had used dbca to create the ASM instances and when I ran the dbca to create the new ASM instance I used the dbca from the DATABASE_HOME.
I have been told that I should have created an additional home for the ASM instance? Is this correct and is this a best practice for RAC and ASM?
Everything is up and running fine and I and pondering if it is worth reconfiguring so that we can have a separate ASM home?
Is there a good doc out there concerning how to reconfigure the home for ASM once it is up and runnig and my database is currently utilizing it for it's storage?
I know that I would just have to lay down the binariies into a new directory but what alse needs to change? Will this affect how the ASM instances are registered with the clusterware?
What is the real benefit of having them separate? I have been told that you can patch then separately but I don't see the benefit as the db would have to be down anyhow if the ASM instance would need to be patched?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

When running more than one database instance on a single server or node, it is recommended that you install ASM in its own Oracle home on that server or node. This is advisable even if you are running only one database instance but plan to add one or more database instances to the server or node in the future.
With separate Oracle homes, you can upgrade and patch ASM and databases independently, and you can deinstall database software without impacting the ASM instance.
If an ASM instance does not already exist and you select the OUI option to install and configure ASM only, OUI installs ASM in its own Oracle home.
If you are running a single database instance on a server or node and have no plans to add one or more database instances to this server or node, ASM and the database can share a single Oracle home
If an ASM instance does not already exist and you select the OUI option to create a database that uses ASM for storage, OUI creates this single-home configuration.

Separation of Java and HTML in servlets

I'm starting on my first Java project. It will be a basic table maintenance app using Java Servlets. My question is, what would be a good way to keep my servlet code separated from the HTML code that will be used to generate the pages I'll display to the users. Should I have separate classes that produce each type of HTML? Just looking for a place to start. Thanks.

Yes it is good idea, essential even. There are three main ways to do this.
1) Use a third party template system like TEA, FreeMarker or WebMarco.

2) Use the Model View Controller Pattern, the Servlet (the controller) processes the requests and dispatches it to a Jsp page (the view) containing beans that reference your data (the model). See this link ( http://java.sun.com/j2ee/blueprints/design_patterns/model_view_controller/index.html )
3) Produce your own Template system; with page loader/Parser, replacing the relevant 'custom tags' with the correct data.

Colon separated values - reports and charts

Data from a checkbox item is stored in a column separated by colons.
When users try to use the report builder function to chart it is not grouping as we expected.
For example the column contains the following rows:
A:B:C
A:B
C
C
We want the sum of distinct values. For example
A = 2
B = 2
C = 3
Instead we get:
A:B:C = 1
A:B =1
C =2

Checkbox selections (and multiselect list selections as well) are, as you say, stored as colon-delimited strings. This is fine for storing the data but, as you have seen, it is not particularly good for displaying the user's selections. You would need to "explode" the strings into actual values. How you do this will depend on the output you need.
For example, taking the "A:B:C" string as an example, if you only need to know the sum that each represent, you could do that in your SQL statement:

FROM ...If, however, the values relate to records in other tables (for example, the user has selected EMPNO values - which is stored in the string - but you want to show actual employee names), then you would probably have to join your original SQL to the second table to display the values and/or allow the user to filter by a value. But that would make it more complicated and may mean that you end up with more than one row per main record.

I tried it already with a TextListener and a DocumentListener but without success.

Magsafe Cord separated at brick and fraying

I have a 2008 MBP and have taken great care while using it. A year ago the rubber insulation started separating from the brick and I was told by a "Genius" that this was fine, not a reason to invoke Applecare. Well now the cord is further separated and wires are beginning to fray and now my local authorized store is saying it's accidental abuse and that Apple won't cover it. Call AC & tell them your situation. If you have AC it is better to call them first prior to just walking into an Apple Store w/your problem. Make sure you get a case #.
You should have gotten a FREE replacement under warranty the first time around.

Employees with Recently Separated Vet Status and Discharge Date beyond 3 ye

A customer has a need to find employees that are categorized as Recently Separated Vet, but have a discharge date that has passed beyond 3 years. Does somebody know any solution to it? Maybe using an Ad Hoc query can solve it. Have anyone another idea?

From the information, we have one corrupted transaction logs which make the soft recovery(eseutil /r) failed, thus we try to hard repair the database EDB file, however it also report error message as the below:

From the command we use, I noticed that we want to set the temp database location, right? If so, the command is incorrect. Please use this command instead:

Note: When we specify the temp database location, it should contains
the full location of the temp EDB file. And the folder “c:\tempdb” should exist otherwise error message like “invalid path” will occur.
In light of above, please refer to above command to repair the database EDB file. But please aware of that database repair could cause data loss since we have transaction logs can’t be replayed to the EDB file.
Meanwhile, to merge the differential backup data to the mailboxes, we can first restore the full backup data(250GB), then we can got the mailbox data on 8/1, take the mailbox to production.
After that, for the differential backup data, also use the same method to get the EDB file to clean shutdown, use your method to restore the data to PST, then import the PST data to the mailbox which have been production. Or we also can use Recovery Database
to restore the data to a production mailbox.

Separating itunes accounts and libraries for different users

We've owned Apple portable products since the early iPod generations... But things are starting to get complicated. We started with just one device (an 80GB iPod) and then got another (an iPod shuffle)... After that we purchased our first iPhone, then another, then 2 more as they upgraded and got better. Now in recent weeks we've also added an iPad 2 for my husband and an iPod touch for our son... The problem is we're still only using our original single itunes account...
Now over the years we've amassed a huge library of songs and applications which everyone shares but with the creation of iCloud we've run into problems. For example, recently when I synced my iPhone 4, I ended up with all my husband's contacts on it... So I deleted them from my phone the following day. iCloud then kindly also removed them from my husband's iPhone 4S without him so much as plugging the phone into the PC :-/ He was less than impressed.
My 10 year old son has been given an iPod touch for his birthday and wants to 'facetime' and send imessages to his friends and to us... But because we only have the one account, he's using my email address to do it. And because my email address is also linked to my itunes account and my phone, I also receive copies of all his text messages on my phone... and copies of the ones I send to him... Security wise I suppose this could be a good feature to have as a parent... But if it means he's also receiving all the imessages sent to me, we may run into problems in the near future!!
So my question is, is there a way to separate and duplicate our library so that we can divide and share the music and apps we all use, whilst still creating separate itunes user accounts so that iCloud doesn't interfere with our individual syncing preferences?
We only have 1 PC in the house so using seperate computers is not an option for us at the moment... And I've also tried the shift and open function to create a new user for itunes but nothing happened!! Itunes just opened as per normal :-/

Well I thought we had done that, but we still ran into trouble with icloud firstly adding my husbands contacts to my phone then deleting them all from his phone!!
I have solved the problem of the cross texting by adding my son's email address as his in and outgoing server so that's all good now.
I still have the issue of having him on our itunes account... He's been given itunes gift cards for his birthday and he doesn't want to just add them to my account... Nor do I want him to have my password for security reasons!
Any idea how I can navigate that situation? I suppose creating him his own itunes account is the best way to go but again, I tried following the instructions listed online and nothing happened. My itunes account opened as normal. No option to create a new account was given to me... It also means the first time he syncs his iPod, all the applications he has on it now (from the single family account) will be erased and I suppose, he'll have to purchase them all again which would be ridiculous!! :-/

When updating ICloud Control, I Tunes and Quick Time, they all get hung up. I have tried downloading each separately, tried uninstalling and reinstalling and I still have the same issue every time I need to do an update.

I'm hoping someone can talk me through this issue; I have not updated in over a year! I am using a Windows 7

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
