Separation of DB host
Hello Frnds,
I have a solution Manager installed on a physical server with CI and DB on the same host. [ Windows]
Now we are planning to separate the DB to a new host [Linux].
The DB instance has been created on that host.
So in order for it to start Functioning properly, what all changes [where all] needs to be done on CI ?
Please let me know if anyone has already performed such separation.
Also suggest me if you guys know?

In configtool,
Under secure store --> change admin/host/<SID> to the corresponding new value. If you have changed the hostname of the database as well, correct also the jdbc/pool/<SID>/Url value.
Instance_IDXXXX -> Dispatcher_IDXXX -> managers -> Cluster Manager. Change ms.host property so that it points to the new hostname. Perform the same for the server node.
Go to instance -> dispatcher -> Locking manager and change enqu.host to point to the new hostname. If you have changed the profile names modify also the enq.profile.filename accordingly.Perform the same steps for the server node.
Choose Instance_IDXXX on the tree on the left side and change Message server host parameter to the new value.

Purpose of having central adapter engine
What is the purpose of having Centeral Adapter Engine when any WAS 6.40 has an adapter engine that can communicate de-centrally with the IS?

The Adapter Engine is a separate software or software component that is automatically installed on the Integration Server. In this case, we will call it as central Adapter Engine. You can also install the Adapter Engine separately on another host. This is then a non-central Adapter Engine.
By installing the adapter engine centrally on Integration Server, all the components like adapter engine, integration engine, mapping runtime etc will be at single place which increases the preformance.
In the case of non central adapter engine, where we will install the adapter engine at another system(may be in another place) which decrease your total server performance.

We are in High Availability environment: 2 nodes in HA for PI (node1 there is central instance and node 2 dialog instance) and 2 node in HA for Oracle DB. Now we have noticed that the adapter engines are NON Central Adapter Engine but we don't want this. We would Central Adapter Engine. How can I transform NON CENTRAL in CENTRAL ADAPTER ENGINE???Hi

How you installed? Well non - central Adapter Engine all adapter behave standalone. I think you have to install again.

Adapter Engine: Performance Monitoring?
Dear Experts
I am assessing the PI 7.1 Advanced Adapter Engine and execute a Performance Test against a standard
scenario using the Adapter Engine processing.
I would like to understand and see the 'performance boost', mentioned by SAP, but I am not able to find
a tool which gives me this view on performance (e.g. message processing time) in the Adapter Engine.
The Runtime Workbench tab 'Performance Monitoring' seems to be limited to the ABAP Integration Server.
Is there any settings I can use to get this view? Or is there any other metric which could be used to
validate the actual performance improvement by the AAE?

You use the Advanced Adapter Engine to connect the Integration Engine to SAP systems (RFC adapter) and non-SAP systems. You use the various adapters in the Adapter Engine to convert XML- and HTTP-based messages to the specific protocol and format required by these systems, and the other way around.
Using Integrated Configuration you can define a local Message Processing on the Advanced Adapter Engine. The Advanced Adapter Engine provides mapping and routing for this locally. Message Processing is only executed on the Advanced Adapter Engine from one adapter to another without the involvement of the Integration Engine. You can gain a great improvement in performance.
You can implement all adapters on the Adapter Engine for a local Message Processing on the Advanced Adapter Engine, apart from the RNIF adapters and the CIDX adapters.
If you do not use Integrated Configuration, Message Processing will always be performed by the Integration Engine to execute the routing and mapping there.
The Advanced Adapter Engine is a separate software component that is automatically installed on the Integration Server. In this case, it is the central Advanced Adapter Engine. So Advanced Adapter engine has nothing to do with the Central Adapter engine that you saw in file to file scenario article which is based on PI7.1 Even Advanced Adapter engine is also a very interesting feature introduced in PI7.1 so that Adapter engine it self does some Integration Engine functions.If you find time listen to the webinar recorded session on AAE (Advanced Adapter Engine).

Lync 2013: SQL instance - Shared or Not Shared !?
I'll keep this straight to the point... I'm implementing Lync 2013 at my company and we stumbled on one SQL Cluster situation that's causing some questions on the DBA team.
So the situation is....
Background:
We currently have a two node SQL 2008 R2 (SP2) Cluster with two instances in it that are shared for other applications.
Question:
Is it recommended by Microsoft (or any Lync Expert at all) to use one of these instances for Lync 2013 databases, or should it be a separated instance to host Lync 2013 Databases?
Note: If to be created the new instance, that instance will be living in the same cluster.

I've meanwhile opened an advisory case with MS to check what they say about it. (I'm posting the results afterwards of course to share their advice)
I agree with both of you, and in fact I don't really like the idea of having a shared instance for Lync 2013 with other products (specially one of them that's in there that is Sharepoint 2013). I'm quite curious on knowing how will the instance behave once
Sharepoint 2013 decides to "eat up" all the resources...
I think that having the separated instance adds at least 2 very good (and important values) that is:
1 - Security (at the instance level.. no unwanted sysadmin's - we have persistent chat by some God forsaken reason... though I don't like the idea that a DBA with the right knowledge to read our C*O's chat's going around...)
2 - Resource assignment control (better memory control, possibility of "shifting" the instance to another place if necessary + if someone "brings down" the shared instance for any reason, lync can continue to function)
The IO concern regarding lots of SQLServer.exe running around, it's also a valid concern in my opinion, though at IO level is basically the same story because what matters is the DB file read-write operations that are ongoing and that will consume the same
resources either you're in a dedicated instance or separated one...
Still our DBA brings up the fact that we need to use a shared instance for everything and he wants me to put Lync all together with the other DB's (Sharepoint 2013 included...).
What are your thoughts about this?

Is it possible to generate a command line(CLI) executable using LabVIEW? This CLI exe will be called with certain command line arguments by another application (written in Visual Basic). The LabVIEW Run time engine can be installed separately on the host PC.

Go to Solution.There is an example that ships with LabVIEW that shows how to read the command line arguements from an application. THe name of the VI is CommandLine.vi. It is extremely basic though. The power of command line arguements really comes from how you define and parse them. I recommend allowing your command line arguements to be order independent and that they require a label. For comand lines I prefer to use a single letter for the label. Full words are nice but then your command line gets very long. For the applications that we write we allow both the '/' (DOS/Windows style) and the '-' (Unix/Linux style) to designate a command line label.

Script issue,Java install from script, push out to servers.
this is a non standard install for Java that has to be installed from a script. basically this script will run against a given amount of servers, stop the required services ( pertains to the application that requires Java on the server), uninstall
java, install java, configure java with correct parameters and security permissions then lastly output a log file to the server that is running the script (folder) of each server . each server will have thier own text file. so two issues first
java uninstalls but does not install due to a permissions error, and the other issue that is occuring is there should be a log file for each server the
log file will have the server name as the file namey, the script will look at the server list and run the code on that server so basically the script
will run at the same time on all the servers, and create log file for each server and put in the folder i designate. - this is not occuring based on the Powershell script below. what parameter is missing below. thanks

I would like to know how did you deploy the .ps1 script on remote computers like using task scheduler or something else, please make sure the user account you used to run this script on every server has enough permission.
According to your script, it will produce a log file under "D:\Temp\" and this file will be copied to the destination

While I was easily able to install the latest Java for my 64 Bit browser (IE9), such isn't the case with my 32 bit one. Instead of installing Java 7 U13 or the aforementioned, it demands to know where an earlier install MSI file is located and even if the named file is chosen, it states that it isn't the file that is needed. I have removed ( and even tried reinstalling older) versions of Java, flushed bmy browser chace and even scanned my registry but it is always the same error. Any suggestions for repairin g the matter?
It is seeking jre 7.0.09-c.msi but even when that is chosen, it says that it isn't what is needed to install 7.0.11... even if the install is for 7.0.13....

Adapter Engine
Purpose
You use the Adapter Engine to connect the Integration Engine to SAP systems (RFC adapter) and external systems. You use the various adapters in the Adapter Engine to convert XML and HTTP-based messages to the specific protocol and format required by these systems, and the other way around.
Implementation Considerations
The Adapter Engine is based on the adapter framework. The adapter framework is based on the SAP J2EE Engine (as part of the SAP Web Application Server) and the J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA). The adapter framework provides interfaces for configuration, management, and monitoring of adapters.
The adapter framework has its own queuing and logging services. This means that you can run the Adapter Engine temporarily without a connection to the Integration Server.
The Adapter Engine is a separate software component that is automatically installed on the Integration Server. In this case, it is the central Adapter Engine. However, you can also install the Adapter Engine separately on another host. It is then a non-central Adapter Engine.
Integration
You configure the adapters in the configuration part of theIntegration Builder. You define the parameters of the respective adapter during thedefinition of collaboration profiles in thecommunication channel. It is possible to define generic modules for each adapter in the module processor to equip the adapter with additional functions.
It is possible to integrate customer adapters into the Adapter Engine. See also: Adapter Development.
Features
The Adapter Engine provides adapters, which you use to do the following, depending on their configuration:
· Communicate with SAP R/3 systems using the RFC interface (RFC adapter)
· Enable data exchange with the SAP Business Connector (SAP Business Connector adapter)
· Exchange data with external systems using a file interface or an FTP server (file/FTP adapter)

· Connect marketplaces to the Integration Engine (Marketplace adapter)

· The CIDX adapter supports Chem eStandards, an open standard for business-to-business data exchange in the chemical industry.
· The XI adapter is used for communication between Integration Servers and with the PCK.
In the adapter configuration, you specify whether an adapter is to be located at the inbound channel (sender adapter) or at the outbound channel (receiver adapter) of an Integration Engine.
Receiver adapters support system acknowledgments but not application acknowledgments.

Basically moving away from physical separation of DMZ host to utilize the VM servers effectively for DMZ and production. We have to maintain both firewall and network. Except the human error what are the possible risk on this?
