Seperate playlist/side playlist

Hello,
I was just wondering if there is (or anyone knows of) something similiar to a playlist editor for winamp for itunes. Party shuffle works pretty well, but it misses a feature which I would really like to have.
for instance: you find a cool song which you'd like to hear, so right mouse click on the song "play next in party shuffle". So you listen to this song and while doing this you see another cool song.. you want to hear that to. So once again right mouse click on the song "play next in party shuffle" (not trouble so far). Then (when still listening to the first song) you see another song, and you want to hear it after the last one you've just added to your party shuffle... whoops not possible!
you can add it to partyshuffle but then it will come as last, or you can add as next but you already have a song you want to hear next.
anyone who shares this problem with me? I was thinking of a drag and drop playlist at the side or so, so you can place a song wherever you want when browsing your music.

Actually, you can. I never tried it before but your comment made me go look. I just double-clicked on my empty "play" playlist to open it in a new window. I then adjusted the width of the two iTunes windows so I could place them side by side. I can then drag songs from my Library or any other playlist into my "play" playlist and I can see everything that I have added and the order they are in. It is easy enough to reorder or resort the "playlist". I will be opening my "Play" playlist like this from now one because it is more convenient and faster then the way I had been doing it. So, thanx for giving me the idea.

Shoutcast radio stations as a seperate playlist

Is there a way to load up the .pls files into itunes as a seperate playlist rather than keeping it in the library (because if the shuffle goes to the radio station, it'll stay on it 'forever')
update: I've created a playlist called Shoutcasts and dragged/dropped the .pls files into that playlist, but they're not playing

"playlist for updating no longer exists!"

Recently my ipod reached its full capacity so I could not add anymore songs onto my ipod, instead it created a seperate playlist of songs which were most played etc. However I accidently deleted that playlist and now my ipod is blank and won't let me put songs on it
the message reads : "songs on the ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist"
does anyone know how i could fix this problem?
any help would be much appreciated

Open iTunes prefs-> iPod and set it to Automatically update selected playlists and select a new playlist.

Not fully automatically, no. iTunes doesn't expose the clean/explicit status to the smart playlist system, but if you're prepared to take a few seconds to tag new purchases, say by adding the keyword Explict into the grouping field, then it will be easy to create smart playlists that exclude those tracks. I use a similar scheme to tag tracks so they they go into seperate playlists for each member of the family, E,g, a grouping of Alice/Bob will go into each of Alice's & Bob's playlists, but not Charlie's.

Convert album playlists into saved albums in "Your Music"

The new design has the library concept which is great.
I have many, many playlists that are essentially 1 album. I would like to convert them to Albums in the Albums section so that they are not all seperate playlists (the idea of the library seems to me that you don't need seperate playlists for everything anymore), but I can't do this by dragging & dropping. It seems I have to one-by-one add all the albums to albums.
Could you consider making a tool that allows you to scan your playlists and coverts playlists that are clearly a collection of one or several COMPLETE albums to the albums section?

Why do i have 3 purchased playlists

Hello,
i was wondering why in itunes, i have 2 purchased plylists down the left hand column under the sub-heading 'store'.
(Purchased on Stuart's iPhone)
(Purchased on Stuart's iPhone)
(Purchased)
i realise they are playlists for all the content i have purchased, but was wondering why apple has divided them into 3 seperate playlists.
and if its possible to move all my purchased content into the one 'purchased' playlist?

How do I copy an iTunes folder of 40 playlists?

Using Snow Leopard with iTunes 10.6.3.
I have created a folder under Playlists in my sidebar area. This folder contains 40 seperate playlists of classical music at a total of just about 6Gb.
I'd like to copy this folder to a thumbdrive and be able to open it on another machine using iTunes or an MP3 player.
What's the proper procedure to do this and will the album artwork also be transferred?

Smart playlist with the rule Has artwork is false should collect up all tracks without artwork. Offhand I don't think there is an easy way to test for embedded vs. store downloaded. Doug's Script Embed Art will make certain.
We'll assume for now the thumbdrive has enough room for this collection of media.
Create a folder at the root of the drive called iTunes.
Create a folder inside that called iTunes Media.
With iTunes closed copy the files iTunes Library(.itl), iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel (hidden) and the folder Album Artwork from <User>/Music/iTunes to your new iTunes folder.
Hold down option as you start iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to the new iTunes folder.
Make sure under iTunes > Preferences > Advanced that the media folder is the new <Drive>/iTunes/iTunes Media folder you created earlier. Correct if not. DO NOT CONSOLIDATE files if prompted at this point.
Remove everything from the library except the 40 playlists. You should be able to make a smart playlist with Playlist is not <Folder> to catch these items. Delete any Mobile Applications separately.
Use File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate files to create local copies of the music files on your drive.
Hold down option as you start iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to the your original iTunes folder.
The thumbdrive now has a complete subset of your library consisting of just those 40 playlists, that can be opened with another instance of iTunes using the hold-option-start-iTunes method.
An alternative approach would be to make a complete clone of the library, then delete & trash stuff you don't want but that would mean files being copied only to be deleted shortly thereafter.

Smart playlists - where is "or"?

How do I say something like 'match genre->rock -or- genre->blues'?

"All" = AND
"Any" = OR
Unfortunately you can't combine logic within the same smart playlist.
In other words, you can't define one with criteria such as: +Songs rated 5 stars+ - AND - ( +Genre is R&B+ - OR - Reggae ). That is because you'd be using both logic types in one definition, which isn't possible.
To do this, you have to break this into two seperate playlists, i.e.:
_Playlist #1: R&B and Reggae_:
Genre is R&B - OR - Reggae
_Playlist #2: Top R&B and Reggae_:
Playlist is "+R&B and Reggae+" - AND - +Rating is 5 stars+
Combinational logic in smart playlists would be fantastic, but just isn't available at this time

Zen xtra - change playlist order by alpha

hi there!
is there a way to change the playlist order by alphabet?
e.g.
i have a lot of tracks and so does my girlfriend.
i want to create a playlist including all my tracks and a playlist including all tracks of my girlfriend. i know how to do this so far.
but with the creative media source organizer it is not possible to change the playlist order by alphabet.
or am I wrong?
further i have recognized that it takes very long to play a playlist (just the playlist the tracks are already on the device) on the device.
let's say ,5-2 sec per track that is included in the playlist.
is this normal?

. i don't want to play tracks in alphabetical order. i just want to use this option to have a seperate playlist sorted. let's say i played some music with an other program, no i transfer all the played tracks via playlist in my zen, to find tracks faster i want to have the option to sort it in alphabetical order.
2. tried it with notmad explorer, i can't find an option to sort the playlist, at least in trial version.
3. please tell me how long it takes you approx. to transfer a track to your zen? ir takes me approx. -3 sec per track. (i.e. several hours, up to 6 to transfer approx 60gb. is this normal)
4. is the transfer rate with notmad explorer in full version much higher?

Nano speeding through playlist without stopping or playing...HELP

I can get into my playlist, but as soon as I hit the play button, it just quickly scans through all of my songs without playing anything. I am able to pause, but once I play again....same thing. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Do you and your family have seperate playlists? My brother has an iPod too, and I figured out that I had to create one playlist for each of us. I think you have to have a later version of iTunes, though. Anyway, once you're in iTunes, create a new playlist. Then, click on your iPod and your iPod summary will come up. Click on "Music" and first check "Sync music." Then, select the second option, "Selected playlists." Click on the playlist you have created.
I hope this makes sense and that your iPod will work soon!

Trouble Copying PLaylist Files over to my Player...he

I have the Creative MuVo V200, and I can copy music and manage everything just fine, except for one thing. When I transfer music over to my player, it transfers all my songs over so that they're in alphabetical order on my player. How do I transfer my songs over in seperate playlist folders? Otherwise, I end up scrolling through every one of my songsin alphabetical order...

Alright thanks. But now there's something else.
I can create folders now, but I can't transfer music into them. Instead, I'll click and drag songs, and it will just copy it onto the MuVo dri've, seperately from the folder.

Artist radio stations vs regular playlists

I'm just wondering which has more variety? I have some favorite playlists, but a lot of the never get updated, so even on shuffle, I end up hearing many of the same songs over and over. I've been playing around with the "radio stations" lately where I just type in an artist, and it play songs by them and similar bands. Is this the best option if I want variety? I find the pre-made radio stations pretty lacking, and there's not enough of them.

This has to be a bug Peter, right? I had Pandora for many....many years. There were times that I would get 5-10 songs in a row from the same genre. Did I like it, no. But it is bound to happen. But when we are talking 40-50 consecutive songs from the same genre, this can't be right. At this point I have created at least 4 seperate playlists with varying number of tracks. I have created 2 on the windows client, 1 on the web player, and 1 on my android device. All have had the exact same issues. Each one of them only plays 1 genre of music.
I love spotify! I played around with grooveshark, google music, beats, slacker. I have been extremely impressed with everything I have seen with spotify. It really is an amazing product! I was disappointed when there wasn't a "quick mix" of sorts. As soon as I saw you could create a station based upon a playlist I thought "Problem solved!". Without this critical feature working, I don't know how I could possibly stick with spotify =(

Advanced search in playlists

Why are the advanced search terms available in the normal search function not available in your personal playlists? I'm not sure about the desktop or web-application but it doesn't work on Android. I'm referring to these advanced search terms. I don't want to create new playlists for certain combinations of artists. If I have a large playlist with all of my favourite music under the rock category. Now let's say i'd like to play both Radiohead and Coldplay, I must create a new playlist instead of just searching "Coldplay OR Radiohead", maybe I want to listen to both Eddie Vedder's solo work and Pearl Jam, I would need to create seperate playlist for all these simple requests. It doesn't seem like a lot of trouble to implement this since the functionality already exists in the normal search option.

Follow the below steps,
1. Open the desired application in transaction crmc_pcuitools
2. Goto advance search, here you can identify the fieldgroups , when you change the shufflers(if any), then you can notice that the fieldgroup too changes. For eg., check CRMM_ACCOUNT application
(Note: You can notice the shufflers in Version 0 (old floor plan)
3. Now open this fieldgroup in trx crmc_blueprint_c
4. If you do not find any fields, you have a button to import s table entries in the change mode.
5. After the export, remove fields which you do not require. Save.
6.Finally generate the fieldgoup using the generate layout option in the same transaction.
7. Re-run your browser and you should be able to see the desired results.

Is there a way to keep apps seperate over different accounts

My wife and I both have iphone 3g's and we each have seperate itunes accounts.
What I want to know is how we can make sure that only our own preferred apps are sunced to our own iphones.
Do we have to manually choose each app EVERY time we sync ?
Is there any other way to fix it so that its not having to be done manually every single time ?

The process for apps is almost exactly the same as for music. Go to the Apps tab for one phone, put a check mark in the left list view next to each app you want on that phone then click on Sync. If you want to arrange them on particular screens or put them into folders, you can do that on the screens right of the list. Repeat for the second folder.
Note: we are talking about the Apps tab that you select from the Summary page for your phone, not the Apps listing under Library in the left side-bar in iTunes.
