Seperating songs in Playlists from songs in collection

I have a few live albums that I like to listen to as Playlists however I would also like to keep those songs out of the collection when I shuffle my music. Is this possible? Thank for your time.

Right-click on the album(s), select Get Info, then on the Options tab check the "Skip when shuffling" box.

How do I create a playlist from songs in other playlists?

Before updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 7, I used to be able to create a playlist by choosing songs that were already in other playlists. Now, when I click on Create Playlist, the only options I have on the bottom of the screen are to choose from Songs, Artists, Songs and Composers. I want to create a playlist from songs that are in my other playlists, such as Purchased or Favorites, for example, instead of scrolling through a couple thousand songs to find (and remember) the ones I want. What I can do bring that option back? I've looked in my settings and haven't found anything I can do about it. Any knowledgable people in this area, please suggest solutions.

How do transfer my songs AND playlists from iPOD classic to a NEW laptop

How do you transfer both songs AND playlists from an iPOD to a new laptop? I have read a few posts about this, but none seem to talk about transfering the PLAYLISTS. I understand there is a manual method since the iPOD is essentially viewed as a hard drive by a windows based machine/PC and there are third party applications to provide a more automated process.
So can playlists be transferred? If so how? Or will i need to recreate all my playlists? It is not the end of world, rather just tedious. Are there any "gotchas"?

I also have a similar problem. Lap top crashed - new lap top have VISTA (I know...).
Using my ipod as a external hard drive - I have loaded all the tunes onto a new folder on the desk top. I then loaded all the files into the itunes library and have upload them on the new itunes on the new lap top - all good. They are now on the new itunes library and my ipod
However NONE of my purchased items have been transfered. Issue is that the files on the Desktop folder will not show which are purchesed and which are imported from CD - how do I find and then transfer my purchased songs...

You can redownload your iTunes store purchases, but you'll need a backup to recover the playlists.

A function to play offline / downloaded songs and playlists from Spotify on Sonos is missing!

Since my internet connection is a bit shaky at home I need to use my downloaded content and playlists with Spotify!
However this functionallity is not available together with Sonos which is a really big problem.
I hope you plan to work together with Sonos to introduce this functionallity really soon.
Also this is already available with Google Play Music together with Sonos and it would really be a shame to leave Spotify just to solve this problem.

Would be great to have some way of getting offline play lists on Sonos for when my internet connection dies, and also to reduce the amount of data i download repetatitivly... i must have streamed the same songs hundreds and hundreds of times over the last few years playing spotify over sonos, massive waste of bandwidth and download capacity. If you backed the library up by drag-copying it, drag-copy it to the same location on the new computer. If you backed up an entire iTunes library, you can also drag it to any location, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down, and specify it.
If you used a backup product, check that product’s documentation.
The song files must be located on the computer’s internal drive for them to play without the external one connected. If needed, organize the library in iTunes.

Hi there,
If somebody can PLEASE help me with this situation I would greatly appreciate it.
I have an iPod touch (yeah I know, OLD SKOOL).
Just recently, the headphone jack has f**** up, besides the point, all I wanna do is save the music and all the playlists just as they are and transfer it to my new iPod...
any easy/good suggestions on how I can go about in doing that would be great???

Truth be told this is not My iPod, its my sister\s, so I dont want anything to go wrong such as:
Her songs/playlists overwrite my songs in iTunes
her songs and/or my songs being wiped out all together
etc

ITunes deleted songs/videos/playlists from iPod touch and won't sync them onto iPod, but songs can still be played on iTunes however I just can't transfer them back onto my iPod. HELP!

HOW IT HAPPENED: I had my iPod touch (32GB, 3rd generation) plugged into a speaker charging whilst playing music, and simultaneously I had iTunes (latest version for windows) open on my laptop (Dell - Windows). My iPod started to sync wirelessly with iTunes on my laptop and my music suddenly cut off.
WHAT HAPPENED: Once the sync had finished, all (almost 4000) songs (and videos) had been wiped off my iPod (including any playlists) with the exception of less than thirty songs, all of which I'd noticed were songs I'd purchased on the iTunes store, a seemingly random selection though - some from a couple of months ago, some from a couple of years ago.
I closed down everything on my laptop and restarted both laptop, iTunes and iPod then plugged my iPod in to sync. My iTunes library on my laptop is fully intact, complete with playlists, and I'm able to play songs normally from there, however despite numerous attempts, they just won't sync onto my iPod. Interestingly, no apps were deleted from my iPod. There's plenty of room on my iPod now, and even when everything on my iTunes library is synced onto it, there's still around 3GB space, so it can't be an issue to do with lack of space. I have no idea why it's happened, and the settings are for everything on iTunes to be synced to my iPod (I checked again) so it's not an issue with selective items to sync only either.

I have the same problem!! only thing is that i have the ipod touch 5th generation and a mac. I've been trying to find a way to get all my music to play cuz it will only play on itunes but when i try to play it on my ipod it'll just show a circle with a red square in the middle next to the songs i cant play.

My playlists only appear in itunes when my ipod is connected, and it will not allow me to drag songs into playlists from the music library, can anyone help. Have downloaded newest version of itunes and using windows xp.

Is it possible that you are not seeing the thirteenth song because you did not scroll all the way down within the playlist?

Can I back up my library without having to purchase ICLOUD match?

First, note that your "iTunes Library" is just a collection of Windows files. Any mechanism that you are using to backup your Windows system (and you do back that up regularly, don't you?) will back up your iTunes library.
That said, you should understand how things work. I talk about this a little in this summary post I developed:
BTW: If you don’t understand how your iTunes library is structured and how to back it up, then you should read The Complete Guide to Backing Up Your iTunes Library over at iLounge. This will tell you what all the files are and how to back things up.
I also strongly recommend getting an external USB drive, and keeping your music files on that drive. You still need to backup that drive, but it is easier to isolate your music, and if you ever get a new computer, all you need to do is copy over your .itl file from the old computer and move the drive. Here are some instructions on how to do the external drive:

It will copy everything not in iTunes, into the into the iTunes folder into Artist/Album/ folders.
also will the library then reference the files on the drive rather than the previous location of external drive?
Yes.
Anything you had in iTunes before you consolidate will get copied into the iTunes music folder location shown in iTunes prefs -> Advanced and iTune swill use that folder for everything.
The files on the external will not be used by iTunes.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only ex eption is itunes purchases: File>Deviecs>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer or your backup cop of your old computer.

Import Songs and Playlists Into iTunes 10.5 From Existing iTunes Library

Hi Everybody.
I am sure this is easy but it hasn't worked for me.
I had to install a new hard drive and installed iTunes 10.5 onto it.
I now want to import my songs and playlists from my external drive into iTunes.
I tried to consolidate library but only 1800 of 7000 songs came over.
None of the playlists come over when I import playlists except 90s music, classical music, music videos,etc. ie none of my playlists.
Am I missing the obvious here.
Please help becuase I have tried around 40 times!

does your computer got Quicktime? if not then that might be the cause of it as i've got my issue solved by installing it.

Create a playlist from a song/album

Just curious if there is an easier, less backwards way to create a playlist in iOS 6 on the iPhone 5 rather than going to the playlist tab, clicking new playlist, typing in the name, and then adding tracks?
Seems rather lame if that is the only way. You should have the option to start a song or album and choose "Create Playlist from Song/Album" and then have it auto-name the playlist based on the title. Am I missing an obvious step or option here?
Sometimes these steps are buried and hard to find.

Well that is very disappointing. Apple should take their cue from Spotify. You can create a playlist from any album or song you are listening to and not have to add song by song to a list.
Apple always seems to be one step behind the obvious choice. They lose me more and more each day.
Step up guys!!!
