Sequence and Hot spot questions in Capt 5

I am trying to set up a questionary in capt 5, there are two options that i have not idea how to edit or what would be the best way of using (sequence and hotspot)
any helps is greatly appreciated

You just insert both questions using the Quiz, Question slide option. I would recommend to use the workspace Quizzing, because you'll need both the Quiz Properties and the Properties panel. In the Quizzing workspace those panels are in different docking stations.
In the Quiz Properties panel: choose the number of items for the Sequence question, and the points to be attributed. You have the choice also to have the user drag the items or to use a dropdown list (Answer Type) and the numbering style. You can choose the buttons to add, eventually actions to be performed on Success/Failure and reporting (which will be checked by default). Then you have to edit all the text captions, you can use the Properties panel if you want to change their style.
For hotspot: in Quiz Properties panel choose the number of hotspots you want to have and the score. The hotspots are by default the blue rectangles, all checked as correct (watch the small tick at the bottom right). You can drag the hotspots over the image or wherever you want them to be. You can indicate the hotspot to be incorrect in the Properties panel of that hotspot (uncheck Correct answer), where you also can indicate if a hand cursor should appear, and the style of the hotspot.
Hope this helps?

  • Audio feedback for wrong answer in Sequence and Hot Spot Questions

    I am having three issues:
Everytime I close the Quiz Manager after making some changes I get an error message saying I should Presenter has failed and I should resave and restart. See attached screenshot. I think this is also why I am having the two problems below.
I have uploaded the right audio response to use for an incorrect answer. But both my hot spot and sequence questions do not playback the feedback for the incorrect answer. The audio feedback for the correct answer works fine. I have allowed 20 attempts to answer the question.
I want the text for the correct and incorrect message to be the text in the audio feedback. So after I setup the questions I manually edited the Correct/Incorrect text boxes to be the text I want. But everytime I open and close the Quiz Manager, these refresh back to the default values of "Correct" and "Try again!". Is there any way to not allow such refereshing?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

What version of Presenter are you using? Have you tried applying any/all the updates?
    1. Hard to say exactly what is wrong. This may need to be addressed by Support.
    2. I believe that the incorrect feedback audio will only play on the final failed attempt (20th time in your case). This may need some testing to validate, if you change your number of attempts to two, and then answer it incorrectly twice, do you get the audio on the second failure?
    3. This sounds like an issue from early versions of Presenter 7 (7.0.5 resolved this if I remember correctly), but if it is Presenter 9, support may need to know about it.

  • Partial-credit scoring in multiple response and multiple hot-spot questions

    Hello everyone,
I'm calling on your generosity in the spirit of the holidays to help out a noob.  I would like to create matching, multiple-response and multiple-hot spot questions where the user receives credit based on the number of correct answers within the question. For example, in a matching question where there are four items; if the user gets 2 out of the four items matched correctly, I would like for him to receive 2 out of 4 points.
I understand that Captivate doesn't support partial-credit scoring of this type, but a few posts have implied that it can be done with variables. Is there anyone who can walk me through this process, or send me to a link that will walk me through it? (I've scoured these forums and tried the Cp tutorials, to no avail.) And if it's not asking too much, please make it understandable to someone who has very little experience with variables.
    Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

    Hello,
I did publish an article more specific on partial scoring, perhaps this could help you:
    Partial scores and customized feedback
And since you are asking for more basic information, on my blog I point to some other articles to explain the meaning of variables with/without advanced actions. Feel free to have a look (there are more postings about advanced actions and links to articles over there):

  • Hot Spot question...

    Hello All,
I’m creating a SCORM quiz to put into our LMS. I am
using a Hot Spot question slide and I’m not happy with how is
works and would like to change it slightly.
I have inserted an image to the slide and setup my hot spot
area but I don’t like the way the student is allowed to make
multiple selections on the screen and then having to click on each
selection marker to make disappear or having to click the CLEAR
    button.
I would like the student to be allowed place only one select
on the screen at a time, i.e. If they make a marker selection on
screen and then click some where else then their first maker is
moved to the new position instead of a new marker being placed on
    screen.
I have tried the "Allow clicks on Hot Spot only" but this
does not achieve the desired result of only one marker on the
    screen at a time.
I am comfortable with editing ActionScript (.as) files but
    I’m unsure where to start.
Can anybody help with this issue?

I'm not sure what you mean.
    What is a 'selection marker'?
Are you referring to Quiz Slides? Or just standard slides
    with a
clickable area placed on them? If you're trying to do this
    with a Quiz
Slide, try using just a standard slide with a hotspot. You
    don't need to
use Quiz Slides to have the interaction report back via SCORM
    - just
select the properties of that hotspot and set the reporting
    options.

  • Hot spot question type

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why the hot spot questions are limited to 10 hot spots? Maybe we need a feature request to remove the limit?

  • Difference between "access point solution" and "hot spot solution"

    Hi to all, i'm Fabio.
My customer has a bookshop and wants to allow to his customers access to the internet using wifi connection.
Here in Italy there are a lot of laws and is very hard to create this type of solution without legal permission, authorization and so on.
However, i'm reading some technical website, and lot of them propose solution based on hot spot and not access point.
    Now my question my doubts:
-Is there some difference (technical and "conceptual") between hot spot and access point?
-How are the law outside Italy, in order to satisfy this type of request?
You have to think that here, based on the Italy rules, my customer should become a telecommunication operator to allow him to install ten access point for public use!!!!!!!!
    Thanks, Fabio Marino.

Ok Surendrea, in this case i post here what you have to translate from my link
    (source: http://www.cdaweb.it/Articoli_Vista/tabid/94/articleid/305/Default.aspx?dnnprintmode=true&mid=421&SkinSrc=[G]Skins%2F_default%2FNo+Skin&ContainerSrc=[G]Containers%2F_default%2FNo+Container):
"Quali soluzioni tecnologiche possono essere  adottate per tutelarsi in questo senso? Una esaustiva risposta a tale  domanda viene data in questo articolo di 01Net.it. Possiamo sintetizzarne i concetti.
    English version:
"What technological solutions can be adopted to protect themselves in this way? An exhaustive answer to this question is given in this article 01Net.it. We can summarize the concepts. managers should prefer solutions like hotspots, rather than access point. These in fact have the basic functionality of spreading the signal, without being able to trace the perpetrators of any illegal activities, as there is no distinction between connected users, and no trace of the traffic generated. hotspots, however, allow to authenticate with username and passwords each user, and then track it down if needed, manage navigation tickets, manage bandwidth so that a single user does not monopolize the slowing or clogging the navigation of another, separate network and personal business than that of Wi-Fi public, and keep track of all traffic through the log files (access logs). This is the perfect solution that allows operator to demonstrate that it is not the author of any illegal activity."

  • HT3574 bluetooth and hot spot iphone5 to Ipad 2 and Mac????

Hi, I just got an Iphone 5 and first of all I am not able to pair my Ipad and Mac to the Iphone with Bluetooth. I also just got the personal hotspot on the Iphone 5 but I doesn't work with bluetooth, nor with USB  clabe and neither with the other network.
    Thanks
    Sara

Hi - thanks for your response.
I do not use bluetooth - Should I.  I am using the hot spot capability  with the new Ipad Air in the same way that I used it with my Mac Book pro.  I have reset the connection but not restored the IOS as yet since it is only one month old.  I have the new Air.  I thought that the connection was supposed to use cellular data "on" and "personal hot spot on"  that enables the phone to act like a WiFi connection similar to a router we have at home.  I learned from a discussion with Apple that the Ipad once it goes to sleep will disconnect from the network.
To be clear I - I got the Ipad to use as an internet/mail connection using the Iphone hot spot in lieu of lugging along the Mac Book Pro.
Hopefully that clarifies any issues.  I will not really know until I go back to my New Mexico House is signal strength is an issue.  I think not

  • Traveling to the Bahamas and Hot Spots for my iPhone

Can I use my phone in Nassau, Bahamas?  And what charges/plans are there or will there possibly be?
Also, can someone explain a hot spot for me and is it free?  I notice that I have to contact Verizon to get it set up, which makes me think it isn't free. I do have internet at my home.
    Thanks!

    Hello shellshell211
Yes your device will work in the Bahamas! Have a great trip! Here's a link that will explain the charges when you use your device in the Bahamas: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/tripplanner/tripplannercontroller
The hotspot application allows you to use your iPhone 4 to connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices. It's great feature that uses your iPhone as an internet source for other devices. Here's a great link with the mobile hot spot application pricing: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/plans/?page=mobileBroadband

  • Sequence and Output Settings Question

    Hello all,
I'm know this is a rookie question, but it's often hard to find a definitive answer to these types of things.
    Here's my specific situation:
99% of my final output will be SD NTSC DVD-progressive for corporate shows, and I create almost all of my own content, or use stock animations from companies like Digital Juice. Rarely do I ever deal with DV captured from tape.
Given the final output, and given that my generated media can be basically whatever codec I want, what's the best sequence settings to use in FCP, and the best way to output it for nice, crisp, progressive DVD playback?
    Thanks!
    SyddyS

Mac Pro 2x3.0 Dual, 4GB Memory, ATI Radeon 1900
Also, on another note, I'm currently in a REALLY rare situation for me where I'm recording to DV tape. Everything looks great except for all titling created by FCP. Does FCP titling just suck? Anything in red or green hues has vertical lines running through it.
    Thanks!

  • Correct Hot-Spot answers rated false in IE and HTML5

We experienced that Hot-Spot questions generated with Captivate 8.0.1.242 do not work correctly in IE 9 to 11 if published for HTML5.
Correct answers are rated false. For a simple demo see http://hotspot.vismedia-update.de
    Did anyone know a workaround?
    Klaus

    Guten Tag, Klaus!
You are correct, I verified your examples; works fine in Chrome, but not in IE11. Since I never use IE, didn't see that problem yet.
Did you ever try a custom hotspot question? It could be a 'workaround': Custom Hotspot questions in Captivate 8 - Captivate blog

  • Follow up on hot spots

To follow-up on previous hot spot question-a response that I received indicated that you couldn't put a hot spot on a background image. Is there any other way for this to be accomplished.
I try to the following to Hot Spot the following items:
Search for home listings here, and
    Search for land listings here.
Please look at the following website.  You will see what areas that I am trying to Hot Spot.
    http://www.grutkowski.com/index5.html
    Thank you for your responses.

Simply take your header image out of the body background CSS.
Insert image directly into the HTML document.  Insert > Image...
Once you do that, you'll have no trouble using the hot spot tools.

  • Hot Spots that actually work?

I'm beyond frustrated here. I've been trying to get a Hot
Spot question slide to work for over an hour now. (Can you say,
"Lost productivity?") Tried everything logical. Made the hot spot
bigger, smaller, deleted the slide and recreated, turned off
project compression, added/subtracted additional hot spots,
verified my hot spot is marked as the "Correct" hot spot, turned
on/off the "Show hand pointer", added different images and tried
them merged/unmerged with background and some other things I'm sure
I'm forgetting. HELP! I need this to work for my SME. What simple
thing am I overlooking here? Or do these just not work?

    Hello again Brian
On the Preview bit, I'm guessing you have upgraded your Flash
Player to the most recent version. And there are issues with
Captivate and that version. Check out the following link for that.
    Click
    here
Have you tried the Hotspot question in a totally new project?
I see you already tried deleting and re-creating the slide to no
avail. That makes me think that maybe for this project that object
    is corrupt somehow.
Hopefully something here was helpful... Rick

  • Hot Spot Icon/animation legenth

I am using the 30 day free version of Adobe Captivate 4 and when I preview my "presentation" in a web browser the icon/animation for the Hot Spot question stays on the screen for three to five seconds after pressing the submit button.
How can I change the timing for the Hot Spot icon/animation display?

    Hello Lilybiri,
Thank you for offering to help find a solution for my Hot Spot Quiz issues.  If you would like to (or have the time to) help me here's what I am trying to accomplish:
We need some Hot Spot quizzes which require the user to click on one, or sometimes one of several, hot spots on an image object.  I have already encountered the Captivate 4 hot spot quiz limitation of having to click on all of a group of hot spots in order for the answer to be correct when we want the user to click on just one of any of the correct hot spots.  I have developed a customer specific header and footer bar template for each slide, with the footer bar containing navigational buttons for beginning/previous/next/end functionality, have disabled this navigation in the question slides as we don't want this available to the user during the quizzing.  Instead, we want to advance to the next question slide if the user clicks the correct hot spot, or produce a text caption (with a continue button to advance to the next question slide) accompanied by an arrow animation indicating the correct hot spot to click (which would require executing an advanced action).  The user gets one attempt to answer the question correctly.  Each question slide will have a text caption with the question for the user to answer.  Because of the limitations I've encountered with Captivate 4 hot spot quizzing I've been considering creating custom question slides just as you suggested.  Unfortunately, we have a very tight deadline to meet and a lot of content to pour into this project, so I need solutions that are as simple and quick to develop as possible.  It seems that sometimes Captivate does not allow for this to happen and I've been discovering that it's been increasingly frustrating to use.  Any assistance you could lend me would be greatly appreciated and I thank you for your time.
    Sincerely,
    Roland

  • Hot Spot Review Area (no results show)

In Cap5, allowing review of quiz. All other types of questions types have review area results, but the Hot Spot questions have nothing there if the user response was incorrect. Below are two screen shots, first in Cap5, second in preview. Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi,
The Review section can give you a brief about the answers you selected and point to what correct answers were, for an hotspot, it would give you a "green check" to the area which was correct spot.
If you check your second image -- the middle Green Caption/button has a shade of " green check " which indicates that was the correct spot to have been selected, and Blue star states the section you selected. in additon to that you can enable the hint or incorrect caption for hotspot from Quiz Properties.
    Thanks,
    Anjaneai

  • Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area

Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no other computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area and is wanting a printer to use occasionally. He doesn't want to deal with a computer and I keep his iPad updated for him at my home.  Please shed some light on this for us PLEASE. Thanks

In that case, it should be possible. I haven't tried this directly, but I believe it should work.
You'll need to get an actual AirPrint compatible Printer.
Check here for a list of Printers you can choose from.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Once you have the compatible printer, using the Hotspot feature from the iPhone he'll have to create the Wifi bubble form the iPhone, and connect the Printer to that Wifi network.
Then connect the iPad to that same Wifi network provided by the iPhone. When all that is done, the printer should appear in any of the Apps that can Print under the Action Arrow button.
For instance in email, pressing the action arrow should show a Print option. In there the printer should appear.
Alternatively you can simply buy a wireless router and setup the network through there even if there is no internet attached.  Connect the wireless printer to the router network, and connect the iPad or iPhone to that same wifi network to print.
