Sequence of Importing the Transports?

Hi,
Configuration and Development work has been going on in our Dev system since 6 Months. We have installed new QA system and now want to import all the transports into QA system.
When we click the All Import button in QA system, with what sequence will the tranports get imported into the system?
Will the old ones go in first or the lastest one go in first?
Regards
Minhajur

Hello Mihhajur,
Choice is yours.
For quality system I would say system copy is not that bad a choice. Infact it simplifies things a bit. However of course transports need to be released/imported anyways because you would need to move them to production at a later stage.
For production system copy is a real no no. That is because there might be unecesssary master and transaction data in source system of system copy.
Client copy might still be a choice as long as only tested customizing is being copied using SAP_CUST or similar profiles. No SAP_ALL here. Repository still needs to be transported.
But the most reliable though slightly complicated:
For fresh production only transports should be moved. User master might still be copied through client copy(that is your choice) However other master data should be either manually created or migrated via LSMW/ALE etc..
I would always recommend the last approach. It would help at time of audit as well.
Regards.
Ruchit.

    Hi,
Can we know who imported the transport request. We are able to see the owner of the request . Is there any place where we can see the User who had imported the transport request.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    1. Goto to transaction STMS_IMPORT
    2. Menu, Goto--> Import History
    3. Menu, Edit-->Display More
A column Name User will appear, giving user who carried the import.
    Award points if you like.

  • How to import the transports from the SAP Integration Kit into SAP system

    Hi expert,
I read the forum "Re: Integration with SAP R/3 to realise i have not done the import of transport but i don't quite understand the statement give by "Sebastian Li".
"Unpack the SAP Integration Kit zip-file. It contains a transport-folder. Here you'll find a short manual which files you should import.
Copy the needed files on your sap-system in the correct folders:
    - usr\sap\trans\cofiles
    - usr\sap\trans\data
    Use the transaction STMS.
Also take care of the sequence of importing. See the manual for details."
Can some one explain it in more details to me. I have unzip the SAP Integration Kit n in the transport folder got 2 more folder "ansi" and "unicode_compatible". How do i know which 1 to use? Where i should copy this files to?
    Please advice.
    thank you

  • Steps needed to import the transport request

    Hello SAP gurus
I am trying to import a transport request consisting of a packacge into a server. I was able to create this transport request on first server and trying to import it into second server.
I read many postings on this site and played with STMS_IMPORT, STMS etc.,
But still can't see the package on the second server.
I don't know what I need to do on the second server (target) to make it accept this foreign transport request.
If some one can please point me to a link or document that gives the exact steps involved to do this, I would appreciate it a lot.
    Thanks

    Hi Experts,
I have added the data & cofiles from rollout system to sandbox system via sftp on os level. Now when I am trying to import these requests, the requests are not getting imported.
Can any one tell me the reason?
In tp system log, I found the following entry:
    ERROR: /usr/sap/trans/cofiles/K999999.DEV : can't open

    OS is AIX
After transferring from rollout system to sandbox system, should we change permissions of the data & cofiles.

  • Person who done the transport importing

After importing the transport request into the target system, how to find the person who imported(not the owner) the transport request?

    Hello Keshava,
    Hope you are doing well.
In STMS --> Import queue -> Import history
-> Select the appropriate date range.
Then go to Edit -> Display More, Now you will be seeing one more column 'User', this name corresponds to the guy who did the transport.
    Cheers!

  • Revert back/Undo the import of transport of copies/transport files

    Hi All,
We have imported the transport of copies/transport files suggested by SAP Note 810014 into the development and quality systems and the client requires it to be undo the import.
Please let us know how to undo the import
    Regards,
    Venkat

    Hi,
undoing an import the way you would like it to be done is not possible.
In genereal you got four possibilities I can think of.
1.) Undo the changes manually in DEV and transport the request to QAS. This presumes you know what have been changed.
2.) If versioning is active you may activate an old version. This depends on what your transport contained.
    3.) Restore the system.
    4.) Raise a SAP Call.

  • Error importing SAP Transports for BO XI 3.1 SAP integration

    Hello,
The basis guys setup a clean sap installation on basis v7.0 for me and i managed to import all 5 of the unicode compliant versions of the transports perfectly.
Through the client tools and crystal reports i can access all our custom tables.
However as it was a clean install there is no data. I therefore tried to import the same transports into our dev system. This is on basis version 6.4.
Again i copied the co and data files across and tried to import the transports.
Im getting an error at the 'error in Import ABAP Dictionary Objects' phase for transport K900531.R21. It manges to import into the first 20 objects, then this error is raised???
    Start import R3TRTABLZSSAUTHREF ...
===> HALT: Internal error in tw_lzh (twtrans.c line 7744). Please contact the SAP support.
    Dictionary import
End date and time : 20090617143327
    Ended with return code:  ===> 16 <===
The basis guys are puzzled - has anyone seen this before???
    Many thanks
    C.

    Hi,
Yes - this is the first transport in the series - the Open SQL one. In fact today i downloaded the 3.1 installer as the transports i tried were 3.0 ones.
I still get the same error at that particular object with these newer transports. I even tried teh Ansi transport even thou our system is above Basis 6.2 and it failed at the same point.
I feel their must be a problem with that object in our system.
I just wondered if others had problems importing those transports?
    Thanks

  • Import of transport from a system that has same name as target system

    Hi,
We have an ECC6.0 SPS10 system with SID as "RD2" and the transport
number range on this system is from RD2K900000 to RD2K999999.
If we import a transport into our ECC system(SID is RD2)from an
external system(vendor system) which has the same SID (RD2) and this
external system transport number is RD2K9A0505, does the transprot
number range change in our system?
After the import of the transport(RD2K9A0505) into our system, if we
create new transport request, what would be the transport number
    assigned to it?
will it change to RD2K9AXXXX or will it be the same number range it has
    before as RD2K9XXXXX.?
    Appreciate your answers.
    Thanks,
    Vinod.

    Hi,
This was very unusual to see, anyways let me put my answers
    1. the systems has to be configured in landscape to import the transport requests, and in landscape no two systems can have same SID.
    2. The transport system has a specific order tht need to be followed, DEV>QAS>PRD, so you did not mentioned the scenario here(please put doenthe scenario if you are importing from DEV of vendor to your DEV), and the SP level and kernel and everything need to be maintained on same level between source and Target else there is possibility for import error or chnages donot meet the criteria in target.
    3. Usually when you do imports between the DEV and QAS or PRD the Change request numbers in DEV are usually high but by importing this into QAS the number range for CR will not change,( here the SID are different). In your case i was uncertain since SID are same and number range format is different.
    4. Kindly note that SAP recommends no two SID in landscape can be same, so your source system should be from different landscape where transports can be done only through manually from OS level using tp command, and im in doubt wether tp can recognize the change request that was different in format as a change request number.

  • Who moved the transport to a particular test system?

    Hi,
I would like to find out that which user id has moved a particular transports in a given test system? I was unable to find this in the transport log? Any idea on where to look for this info (source system, target system....) ?
    thanks for the quick help.
    regards,
    HB

    Hello,
You can get this information inthe STMS queue.
First goto the STMS queue and then select the option of the Import History.
once in the impot history following the following path EDIT--> Dsplay More and you will get the details as to which client the transport was imported and the user who has imported the transport request.
Please Note :The Import Histroy would show only the list of the imports that have happenend in that week. To increase the selection increase the date range by making use of the filter option.

  • 2 Paths for the transports

    Hi,
    Netweaver 7.00
We have the folowing for the transports
    DEV - > QAL -> Pre-PROD -> Prod
    Pre-prod is not very used
so the developpers want to use Pre-prod as quality for a new project
    like below:
    DEV -> Pre-prod -> QAL -> prod
is it possible to have the 2 paths together ?
Is it a good configuration ?
    Thanks for your help

You can only setup one consolidation route, so you either have QA or pre-prod but not both..
You could set pre-prod as a separate delivery route (you'll need to import the transport in QA first)

  • Sequence for collecting the Infocube in a transport request

    Hi SDNers,
What is the sequence for collecting the Infocube in a transport request.
    Thanks,
    Satya

    Hi Sathya,
Just giving a second thought to your question i think you need the steps of how to capture a info cube in a request:
    Step1
go to T code RSOR----->Select object Types ->in the next column you can find Info Cube ->open the Info Cube ->Select Objects>double click on the Select Objects-give the Info Cube name that you want to collect to the request(find the Info Cube)
    Step2
now you will find the required Info Cube , Drag the Info Cubeto the Right hand side
    Step 3
Just above the the Info Cube that you have collected you will find Grouping click on it and select -
    >Necessary Objects
    Step 4
    now check the Info cube.
    Step 5
Now click on the Lorry like symbol on the top.
    Step 6
The system will promt you to enter the request
    Step 7
Click on your own request ---> give the name of the request (note down the Name of the Request Example BWDK900109)
    Step 8
now it will ask for the package (select the tranportable package , do not select $TMP)
    Step 9
Press Ok now and you will find the Required Info Cube getting stored in the Request
    Step 10
now go to the Transaction SE09 give your user name and select modified and click on Display
    Step 11
Search the request name (ex BWDK900109) you find the Info Cube stored.
    Sttep 12
Relese the request and import in to Quality(this is Basis Job no need to worry)
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    rahul

  • Sequence tag error while importing the SSL certificate into ".keystore" fil

I have created the ".keystore " file successfully and also imported the "root.cer".
but while importing the SSL certificate it says like
"keytool error: java.security.cert.CertificateException: IOException: Sequence ta
g error" (I got the certificate from Verisign)
    How to resolve this Error?
    can anyone help me?
    mail to:: [email protected]
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
I resolved this error by making it sure that there are no extra spaces or unwanted caracter copied while copying the certificate response from the CA. Make sure you are copying the certificate response properly. In my case, some extra space was getting copied so after re-copyinf it properly, it worked.
