  • Sequence of transports in CHARM ?

We have multiple transports (Workbench Requests and Customizing Requests) in a given Change Document.
What is the sequence of transports when the Change Document gets processed (imported) ?
Does it matter if the Change Document is normal correction or urgent correction type ?

    Hi
no you can't define a sequence
they get imported in the order of release
say tr 1 and tr2 are there and tr 2 is released first so that will be imported first irrevelant of the type of change
    hope it clarifies ur doubt

  • CHARM : Sequence of transport request to import

    Hi,
I'm configuring CHARM and found out below issue.
    Scenario.
    1) Charm project with project type implementation was created in SOLMAN. The type of change is normal correction. All transport request was created under 1 task plan. The transport was created based on configuration and some of the transport request have dependency to others transport request.
    For example.
a)GL account need to be created in FI and was assigned to TR002.
    b) MM need to configure the GL account that was created in a) and was assign to TR001
    Issue
When the TR was release, how do we ensure that the sequence of import to QAS client and PRD client must follow the dependency of the TR created?
    Appreciate your input.
    regards,
    Biah

    Hi Sir,
I am working in SAP Solution Manager. I would like to know some concepts regarding CHaRM:
Currently our project is using Transoport Proposal. We will soon shift using CHaRM. But I am not aware of the Technical concepts.
    1. How to configure CHaRM with the Tranport Proposal Flow.
    2. How to navigate in CHaRM? (screenshots can help).
    3. I am aware of the process but still after creating a CHaRM how do the Developer navigate to do a change in DEV system.
will he go through CHaRM. (please explain me).
    4. Also explain me the total process from technical point of view till the CHaRM closure.
    5. I am aware of SOLMAN in this process where the Charm requests are collected and monitored.
Hope I will get a good guidance from your end....

  • Sequence of Customizing transports

    Hi Community,
I have a question on transports that has been boggling my mind and I haven't found a satisfactory response as yet online.
Here is the scenario: Customizing TR 1 - Contains say plants
Customizing TR2  - Contains say storage locations
Customizing TR3  - Assign storage location to plant.
So basically, what I am saying is TR3 is dependent on TR1 and TR2.
Now for customizing transports does the sequence of transport matter? Basically, say I move TR3 followed by TR2 and TR1, but I make sure I move all. In that case will the transports fail? When we import customizing TRs, does the foreign key checks run in the importing system?
I was under the assumption that for customizing TRs, sequence doesn't matter. What matters is we move all that make a logical group? Can any of the ABAP experts here help on this? Thanks!!

Here is how I see it:
    1. I can feed in any kind of data in a database table using an ABAP program's 'Update' statement. Hence, I could override any constraint/foreign key check that I would have imposed in SE11.
    2. Similarly, if I release a TR, considering the update in the importing system would happen via an ABAP program, my take is the data would get written to the database. However, if we don't move all the TRs, it would lead to an inconsistent customizing, as we had predecessor nodes. For ex, if I just move TR3, what I am saying is, the import would be successful. However, if you open the node in customzing, the view might show error - saying invalid plant or invalid storage location but the TR import as such wont fail.
Hence, the sequence is not important. What is important is we move the complete logical set. The order would not matter. Is this a correct analysis? Any views?

  • Sequence for BW transport

    Hello Gurus,
will you please give the detailed sequence for transport from source BW system to target BW system in the real physical BW project.
    Many thanks,
    Franks Zhang.

    Hi <
As you are concern about the BW transports only ,you can follow thesequence as:
1.R/3 transports applied and replicated the datasources if required.
    2.Base object type transports ( Includes Info-objects and info-catelogs).
3.Info-provider type transport (All type of Info-providers, if Char. is used as info-provider ,better to sue base object type transport.)
4.Transfer Rules type trasnsport:here u have transfer rules comm. structure, transfer structure in short datasource and info-sources elements.
5.Update rule transport: You can have transformations and update rules here. You can also capture some se38 or se37 programs too here.
6.Reporting type transport: USer exit program, queries web templates can be captured here.
7.Process chain type transport tp capture process chanin and its elements if u have any.
Hope this will help youso organize and maintain teh transports distinct from each other.
    Thanks

  • Transport request recommended transport sequence

    Greetings,
I have created a new Document Type in SAP DMS and would like to transport through the system. I am due to transport Roles, Customizing requests and Workbench requests.
Can you please advise on what the recommended sequence of transporting is? Is it Workbench requests first then Customising requests second then Roles last?
    Regards,
    Keith

    Hi Keith,
There are two types of requests, one is released and secone one is modified. You can select both of them.
There is no sequence for transporting. You can transport in any sequence as per your desire. For transporting the requests you need authorization for t-code scc1. scc1 is used to  transport from one client to another. Also workbech and customizing there is no sequesnce. Better trabsport workbench first.
I hope this will resolve the query.

    hi Vijay,
normally we go with grouping 'only necessary objects',
'in dataflow before', and 'in dataflow afterwards',
more detail about transport, go through following,

  • Changes in Customizing for agent assignment do not transport well

    Hi,
We have made changes in some tasks regarding agent assignment (we select the option 'General Task' in the Attributes button). This generates a Customizing request.
After releasing these 2 requests (Customizing and Workbench), we transport them from Development to Test. But when checking the new workflow in Test, the Customizing modifications regarding agent assignment do not occur.
We have tried the two possible sequences of transporting the requests: first Customizing and then Workbench, then the other way, with same results.
Is there any specific order that should be followed to correctly transport Customizing and Workbench requests?
    I appreciate your help!
    Regards,
    Ivson

    Thanks a lot,
Our wf doesn´t use organizational structure, but checking the transport logs as you suggested (that´s what I should've done first!), has shown an error of type 12 in the last Customizing requests we have sent.
    The log error's header says
    'Method execution 08.09.2006 16:01:39   (12) Canceled',
    Going to the details,
'Execution of programs after import (XPRA)'
    'Ended with return code:  ===> 12 <==='
There is also one Workbench request with the same type of error.
    All clues are welcome,
    Best regards,
    Ivson

  • Error by transporting a Process Chain / Strange

    Hello Gurus,
i am confronted with a strange situation which i could not understand.
We transported a PC into the Quality and it was ok.
    Some adjustments were done:
    1. the developer delete the DTP in the process chain before deleting in the dataflow.
According to my info he save those objects under a request.
    2. He created a neue DTP and save it in a Transport Request.
    3. In the 3. request we save the whole PC.
We transported 1 with record code 4 but the DTP was not deleted in the QA system
We transported 2 to do the correction with return code 8.
We transported 3 with return code 4.
The old DTP still remain in the PC in the QA.
By checking the flow in QA, i found there are two DTPs and in Dev another DTP. That means 3 different DTPs.
Could you please explain what exactly happen?
How to delete the two DTPs in the QA before transporting the whole PC once again?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Here are the things that I can think of after reading your post..
We transported 1 with record code 4 but the DTP was not deleted in the QA system
    >>  Deleting a DTP in process chain will not delete the DTP from the Data flow.
The DTP will be there in data flow only the varaint calling the DTp will get deleted from process chain.
This is why you are seeing this DTp in data flow in quality system
We transported 2 to do the correction with return code 8.
    >>  In this TP you might have transported PC with the new DTP.
But the new DTP was not moved to quality system causing error.
We transported 3 with return code 4.
    >> In this TP you might have transported the new DTP.
Please check what objects were present in eact Transport request and sequence of transports.
You can check the transport request contents by using T code se01.

  • File pick & process in sequence

    Hi Experts,
We have a problem on client site, the problem is that we are picking files from FTP Server.
The files are related to sales order and shipping notification. Both are on FTP system & sent at same time at FTP.
Some times Shipping notification is running first & sales order is not there, so it is going in Error.
How I can run these file in order ?
    Study SAP

    hi,
    >>>Let the processing Mode be BY NAME and now the file will be processed sequentially
Processing Sequence (for transport protocol File System (NFS))
    (it only works with NFS)
this does not make a lot of sense:
    a) what if the sales order comes to the folder a second after the shippment?
    b) what about EOIO in IDOC adapter?
    c) EOIO should always be avoided is there are some other alternatives
so the best way to do it is to schedule a restart in ERP I blieve and not go into EOIO at all

  • Solution for Error Message RSAODS015 during transport

    RSAODS015 "No fields were supplied
No details are provided for this error message
This usually means that certain InfoObjects are missing and required for the Transported Object to be activated.
example: Transporting an InfoSource may be incorrectly reported as successful even though certain InfoObjects do not exist on the target system and are required by the InfoSource.  Later on if you transport an InfoPackage requiring these missing InfoOjects you will receive this error.  So basically Transporting an InfoSource does not correctly report that there are missing InfoObjects.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Kenneth  ,
Possible reasons for this error may be :
    1. all the objects are not properly collected in transports .
2.The sequence of transports should be proper  ex -> infoobjects, cubes,Multiprovider,Query .
3.It may happen that any one of the object is not yet transported so higher level requests are getting failed .
Please check the object and there dependency with other objects.
    Regards,

  • Trasnportation Sequence

    Hi all,
Below are the objects we have developed in BI Development server-
    1. Info Objects (All Z objects)
    2. Standard DSO
    3. Data Source (Master/Transaction) Flat File Source System
    3. Transformation.
    4. DTP
    5. Info Package
    6. Process Chains
Now, Can anyone please tell me how to collect Objects (Grouping) in a request and Sequence of transporting.
In Grouping I would like to select as 'In Data  Flow Before' for DSO.
    Regards,
    Ali.

    Hi Ali,
Please use the sequence below for your transports.
    1. Info Objects (All Z objects)
    2. Standard DSO ( Dependant only on Info Objects)
    3. Data Source (Master/Transaction) Flat File Source System
    4. Info Package ( Dependant only on Data Source)
    3. Transformation.
    4. DTP
    6. Process Chains
It would be best to select only necessary objects.
    Hope this answers you.

  • InfoProvider Transports

    Hi Experts,
I have small doubt on Master data InfoPrivider Transports.I did collect allof the Objects by using grouping option of InData Flow before but I am seeing DataSource and SourceSystem are not assigned to my Package.Do I need to Transport the DataSource and Source System of Dev System. We do have Source System and DataSource in Testing Box.I hope We don't need to transport two of them from Development System to Testing System. Please let me know.I appreciated your explanation on this.
    Thanks,
    Rani.

    We don't transport Source Systems.
Need to transport Datasource if it is not done yet in QA. But you said you already have Datasource in Testing box. So don't require.
You may try the following sequence for transporting the objects:
    Part – 1. R/3 Transport Sequence:
    Table / View
    Data Sources
    Function Module
    User Exit Code if any
Part – 2. BW  Transport Sequence:
Info Object – Transport only infoobject.
    Application Components
    Info Area
    Info Catalog
    Replicate DS
    Cube & ODS –  togather
    Multi-Provider/Multicube
    Infoset
    Transfer /Update Rules
    InfoPackages/ DTP
    Process Chains
Part – 3. BW Queries: This should go in different Package.
    Role and Authorization
    Queries/Report
    Variables
    Web Templates
    Workbook
    Hope it helps..

  • Transport BPS exit variable

    Hello,
I have everything related to my viable exit working in dev. I have 2 new modules as per the how to..
    Z_get_variable_detail
    Z_simple_relation
now I am totally confused as to how I might transport these into production!!  I must be missing a trick somewhere... do I have to add these into a transport manually?
    thanks

    Hello,
The sequence of transport should be like :
    1- Transport your Function Modules
    2- Transport your variables
3- Transport your Levels and/or Functions and/or Layouts where you use these variables.
For 1, you should have a transport request (see SE01) that was automatically generated when activating it.
For 2 and 3, you can use the standard transport function in BPS0, but there you will have to transport all the variables. In case you only want to transport selected variables, use UPC_TRANSPORT_BPS_ALL (SE38).
    Best regards,
    Jeoffrey

  • Approval for transports to Production

    Hi,
I posted this in ERP and dint get a reply so i am posting here.
I configured transport workflow QA approval procedure. When i approve the proposal it is getting imported into QA automatically. I want to approve but let somebody else to move the transport manually.
    How do i do this?
Also once its moved to QA and tested fine how is the approval to PRD handled using transport workflow?
    Please advice.

    Hi Shannon,
Apologies could not reply earlier.. I think this is one of the drawbacks  of transport workflow as suggested in the link below:
    [Transport Workflow|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/5a/34bd66c03d11d2851c0000e8a57770/content.htm]
Please check from the 2nd paragraph onwards.
Regardless of anything the sequence is the change owner's responsibilty. Even if mass transport option was invoked and the transports were released in wrong sequence then you would get this error in case of auto imports. Manual imports where you have a sequence control check is helpful but tedious business. I think the onus is one transport owners to ensure that the sequence of transport requests is correct in transport proposal in case of TMS workflow and in case of mass transports the transports are released in correct sequence.
Coming to the QA approval step I believe that TMS workflow and QA approval are separate in the sense the individual transport and not the proposal gets approved. However I would really suggest ythat ou check with SAP itself on that .
