Sequence Presets

I shot a music concert with three cameras and one recorded AVCHD in full HD (1920 X1080 50i) and the other two identical cameras recorded HDV (1440 x 1080 50i). I am planning to edit this using the multicamera function in CS5.
Which is the best sequence settings to use for this purpose, AVCHD 1080i or HDV? The project will be delivered in both HD and SD.
Thanks for your help.

Technically, 25 interlaced frames per second isn't Full HD.
Thanks for advising on the technicalities of Full HD. In this case you did not answer the main question raised in this thread. I expected you to expand on your answer and advise me on how to go about my HD content in terms of sequence presets. If you provide an honest opinion on that, then I will say your answer is pretty helpful.
Thank you.

I'm trying to figure out how to set things up in Compressor so that my clips do match my sequence settings and presets. The issue seems to be with the audio not matching.

The dialogue box for "Sound Settings" in Compressor doesn't offer any sort of options, that I can find anyway, to generate clips with "two outputs."

  • How Best to Import iPhone 4 video into Premier Pro CS5 - Settings for new import "sequence preset"?

Shooting video with my iPhone 4 (ATT version) and am trying to import file into Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.3) running on Macintosh OS 10.6.6.
The problem is that I am simply guessing on how to import sequence, and the result is that I am getting motion artifacts and generally inferior quality.  I am using iMovie 11 as my basis for comparison.   Not surprisingly, iMovie 11 imports from iPhone beautifully, but when I've looked around inside of it for properties, there isn't much to see.
From using Apple's built in quicktime "inspector,"  it is possible to see that iPhone4 video has following properties:

Seeking advice on how to smoothly and *losslessly* import/ingest iphone4 footage into PPro CS5.  (I am not worried about exporting for iPhone display, which is what most of the information I can find relates to).
    Thanks in advance,  Michael

    Wow.  Thanks Colin.
When I follow your approach, I don't get the same "sequence preset" dialog box popping up.
FU question, though, the motion is frequently jagged.  Is there a way to smooth out/increase the quality of the rendering?    I have 16gb ram, Mac Pro.   which is able to handle iPhone video rending fine in quicktime.   (I've tried rendering for "performance" and "memory" but both seem to produce, eh results.).

  • Sequence preset settings for HD

I'm new to shooting in HD, and I have a Sanyo Xacti HD2000 camcorder.
    I'm using Final Cut Pro v 5.1.4.
The .mp4 files which come off the camera I assume are encoded with AVCHD, since that's what the documentation says. Since FCP (at least my version) doesn't deal natively with AVCHD, I downloaded a trial of VoltaicHD and tested a clip.
The resulting .mov has a frame size of 1920 x 1080, vid rate of 59.94 fps, audio 48.0 KHz 16-bit Integer.
My question is: what sequence preset (if there is one) should I be using for my FCP projects? I can adjust a sequence settings to be HDTV 1080i frame size, but I haven't found a sequence preset which starts that way.
Should I be concerned with the Integer vs. Floating Point for the audio track?

Right, so VoltaicHD converts the video to:
    Apple Intermediate Codec, 1920 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions
    16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz
and I figured out how to make a custom sequence preset with that codec and the right resolution. I'm pretty sure my FCP version doesn't have the ProRes codec support. Any thoughts on Voltaic? Is there a different/better/free way to convert the video?

  • "...in a custom Sequence Preset Editor."

On page 1011 of the Final Cut Express User Manual, in the section "The Export QuickTime Movie Command", in the second paragraph, it suggests that there is a way to create a custom Sequence Preset. I quote:
"You can also choose to use the existing settings of the clip or sequence you are exporting, or create customized settings in a custom Sequence Preset Editor."
I desperately want to create a custom sequence preset. The last video I did for work I did at 1920 x 1080. The video is going on the companies site at 576 x 324. So I would rather just work in that size. But I cannot figure out how to create a sequence that size. Dose such a "Sequence Preset Editor" exist? And, where would I get one?
Any help offered here would be most graciously welcomed.

I don't really know what it means by that. However, in the paragraph before it it says:
+"You can use this command to export Final Cut Express clips or sequences with their current settings or any of the sequence settings available in Final Cut Express. This command allows you to choose settings based on sequence presets in Final Cut Express"+.
I can only assume that it means you can take the file into another program like Compressor to choose more settings instead. Or maybe it is referring to Quicktime Conversion, which gives you more options in exporting...
Maybe someone else will know, but for now I am puzzled.

  • Sequence preset for multiple format of clips

I have sources coming from 3 AVCHD camcorders and one GoPro HD:
    AVCHD source #1 is 1920x1080/50i
    AVCHD source #2 is 1440x1080/50i
    AVCHD source #3 is 1440x1080/60i
GoPro HD H264 source is 1280x720/60p
AVCHD footages have been transcoded to ProResLT codec during the Log&Transfer.
H264 footage has been transcoded to ProResLT codec with MPEG Streamclip utility.
My aim is to use all these footages, to get a final output to be displayed on the web/computer screen. So, ideally, I'd want progressive. What would you suggest as a sequence preset, or as additional pre-work before starting editing?

The GoPro footage is meant to be slo mo, right?
I believe this workflow will provide the sharpest image before compression for the web.
Your project will have the following Sequence Settings:
ProRes LT, 1280x720, 25 fps, Square Pixels, Field Dominance - None.
Convert all of the footage except the GoPro in Compressor to those specs, using Frame Controls to de-interlace and downscale. Be sure to change the frame Rate in the Encoder tab, Video Settings; and change the resolution and pixel aspect ratio in the Geometry tab.
In Cinema Tools, conform the frame rate of the ProRes LT GoPro to 25 fps.
Make sure all audio is 48 kHz, 16 bit.

  • Missing Some Sequences Presets!!

    Hi all,
I went to start a new sequence as per normal on start up when l noticed the list was shorter than usual (you know how you get used to how things should look and where you position the mouse to choose your usual preset) well my AVCHD, HDV, XD CAM HD & XD CAM EX are no longer in the list to choose from. l went to the directory and found the folder "Sequence Settings" and there they all are as should be including the ones that are not showing up on start up, l then went and deleted the PP Roaming file hoping that that had become mucked up in some way but that did not work either. I'm now at a loss as to what to do when the sequence presets are there but PP won't display them on start up.
    PP version is 4.2.1 (003(M.C:166418)
    Hope you can help please.

    Simon,
If you have CS4, one likely cause for this is a Bug, where the full-paid version reverts to the trial version. No one has ever come forth with a "why," but here is the "fix," should you encounter this in the future - hopefully the Repair Install HAS fixed things for you, but keep this handy, just in case.
Deactivate the program. This will likely be grayed out, since the trial is not Activated.
    Uninstall PrPro.
Run the Adobe Clean Script (now up to CS5) several times, rebooting between.
As a precaution, maybe run a Registry cleaner, like CCleaner
Install PrPro completely, and immediately update fully, before using
Hope that you do not have this issue again and good luck,

  • How do i find out what sequence preset i need to use???

ive been looking all over the internet for this answer and cant find it anywhere! theres a ton of info about sequence presets but i cant seem to figure out what sequence preset to use for my Sony handycam DCR-HC32. if i could get any help it would be greatly appreciated!!

generally speaking, when you create a blank sequence and then drop a clip of the captured footage into it before you put anything else in there, a dialogue will pop up asking if you want your sequence settings to match your clip settings. have you tried that and it didn't work? If it doesn't pop up, that is an option you can set somewhere (not in front of final cut right now, but if you search the final cut help guide for "match sequence settings" you'd probably find it). if that dialogue doesn't pop up and your render bar isn't a bright color when you drop stuff in, (red, green, orange) then you're cool. you could also try setting it to something completely off and then see if it changes back when you drop it in, to be sure.
alternatively, you could right click the clip in your browser and choose "item properties" and create a sequence to match that.
sorry if you already know this stuff and your issue is more complex. i'm guessing you're fairly new to the program?

  • Where is the "Sequence Preset Editor? I need a custom Sequence size.

On Page 1011 of the PDF manual for FCE 4, it says:
"You can also choose to use the existing settings of the clip or
sequence you are exporting, or create customized settings in a custom Sequence
    *Preset Editor*." Where is that?
I cannot get any Export mode to output the same resolution size as my screen capture movie is. Its 1036x778 recorded in AIC codec, so FCE likes it fine.
It seems using the fixed Sequence presets pixel sizes is working against me. I think if I bring my 1036x788 into a Sequence that is 1036x778 I wont get the squishing and distortions of another size. Telling Export to make output 1036x778 never works as it works on the Sequence size not my video size.
How do I get a custom sized Sequence?

or create customized settings in a custom Sequence
    Preset Editor." Where is that?
FCE does not have this feature as Karsten indicates.
FCE uses fixed pre-set Sequence sizes and cannot be changed.
If you select any Easy Setup you will see the sizes in the fine print.
The info is probably a copy/paste goof up from the FCPro manual.

  • I filmed with Sony HDR-XR500V using HD HQ - which sequence preset is best?

I filmed on a Sony HDR-XR500V camera using the HD HQ camera setting. According to the manual, this means it's: AVCHD 9Mbps (1440x1080x60i).
I'm editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
Which sequence preset should I use?
    AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) Anamorphic
    or: AVCHD 1080i30 (60i)
I'm a bit confused, because AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) Anamorphic says "for editing AVCHD Formats recorded in anamorphic 1920x1080 (ex.1440x1080)."
What does "anamorphic 1920x1080 (ex.1440x1080)" mean? What does "ex." stand for? For example? Except?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,
Your manual tells you you have shot your film in 1440x1080 which means it has rectangular pixels which in other words it is anamorphic.
If you made these rectangular pixels into square pixels you get 1920x1080.
Full HD is 1920x1080 with square pixels. It all has to do with aspect ratio. It can be a bit confusing.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/WS03BF7479-8C7B-4522-8C75-210AD102524Ea.html
If you were to do it correctly your preset should be AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) Anamorphic.
    Hope this all makes sense.

  • New document about sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro

If you're having problems with sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro, see this document for solutions for this activation issue.
This document relates to the following problems:
    - missing sequence presets when creating a new sequence
    - Encore error: "Encore will not launch in non-royalty bearing mode. The application needs to be serialized with a royalty bearing serial number."
    - When opening a project in Premiere Pro: "Error Adobe Premiere Pro: This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."
    - When importing footage, the footage is missing audio or video.
These failures are all because Premiere Pro and Encore use some codecs that require activation before they can be used. If activation of these codecs has failed, these codecs will not be available to use.

    Well done.

  • Sequence presets won't show

I only have presets for DV and DVCPRO video showing up when I try to start a new project in Premiere Pro CS6. I have the content downloaded and unzipped, and I see the presets in:
    Drive:/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Premiere Pro CS6/Settings/SequencePresets/
As far as I can tell, everything's there ... AVCHD is the one I need, and it won't show up as a preset option in Premiere Pro. None of them do. Without the preset, I can get the video to show up in a DV sequence preset but there's no audio.
I saw where someone in another post suggested starting a new sequence, closing out and restarting in order to get them to load, but that didn't work. Should they be in another directory in order for Premiere to see them? The Premiere executable is in that Premiere Pro CS6 folder, so I would assume they're in the right place.
I have the Adobe Master Collection CS6 upgrade from CS5.5. Running on Win7.

Deactivate, uninstall, run Cleanscript 2 or 3 times, rebooting in between, install, activate and update.
