  • Sequence Preview Presets or Codec?

I have a project I created on Premiere CS5, but I want to complete it on CC 2014 using my new MacPro at work.
Every time I try to open the file, I get this error:
This project contained a sequence that could not be opened.
No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.
It is all Red footage, so I thought it might have something to do with Red codecs. But when I start a new project, and import a Red file, it works fine.
Adobe Creative Cloud 2014 was just installed on this system 2 days ago, so it should be up to date.
    What am I doing wrong?
I am at my wits end. Any ideas?

    Hi,
This is the activation issue, premiere pro is not getting activated properly.
Please quit all the Adobe applications.
Sign out from creative cloud desktop app and quit that as well.
Please go the following location and drag the Adobe folder to desktop
User Library >> Application support>> Adobe*
    User Library>> Preferences>> Adobe*
Make sure you are in User library not in system library.
Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later
Then launch creative cloud desktop app and sign in.
Launch premiere pro and create a new project, It might ask you to sign in wit your Adobe ID and password to activate it.
Once done, Please quit premiere pro and relaunch it the check all the sequence presets.
    Hope that helps.
    Thank you,
    Mohd Naseem

  • Codec settings not available greyed out AME Premiere Pro

    Hello,
In CC 2014, when I want to transcode something to Quicktime/ProRes codec, the usual "Codec Settings" button in the Video Codec field is greyed out or not available. It was available in CS6... I could click on it and choose settings, but now I can't.
Just a little bg, but I don't think it matters, I can't choose it no matter what QT codec I choose: I have 23.976 final output that I want to convert to 29.97i for broadcast. Unfortunately, through various tests, in order to get the pulldown correct (without field blurring frames), in CS6 I would set it up in AME, then click the Codec Settings, and select Interlaced. Under Basic Video Settings field all is the usual 29.97, Upper First, etc. But to actually get the correct pulldown (repeat frame every 3 or 4 frames) I need to select the Codec Settings and select interlaced. Unfortunately, in CC 2014, I can't seem to access this option.
Any ideas? Codecs are in the system, everything else seems as it should be...
    Thanks,
    J

If the volume/disk is setup to be handled by ACLs (the default for 10.4.x) the older style "inherit permissions" is greyed out.
You can achieve inherited permissions from adding ACL permissions to the shared volume/folder by going to Sharing, Access "tab" in WGM. The first level of the share is never inherited (no) but the next level "down" will be (yes).
ACLs on or off is set in WGM by using the All "tab" in Sharing, choosing the volume and the General "tab".
ACLs override the POSIX settings: owner, group, everyone, and is hierarcial (permission list is read/enforced from top -> bottom, first matching "rule" goes)

  • Right sequence and export settings in Premiere Pro CS6, video with still images

I am trying to run a video on my website (self hosted). This video, made with Premiere Pro CS6, consists of still images with different video effects.
This video is only 50 seconds, but when I transform this in the ogg, webm and mp4 format, I obtain file with large size and the quality is not good.
Could you please guide me to find out the right sequence and export settings in Premiere Pro CS6 to obtain a video for the best possible quality on the web?
A precise description of the settings would be awesome.
    Thank you
    Silvia

Make the export setting the resolution you want to use on the web.
Make the sequence settings accordantly to these export settings

    Hi.
You can easily restore all of your apps, photos and podcasts.
If you activated the iCloud service before updating, your Apps will be storaged "in the cloud" and ready to be re-downloaded. Otherwise, go to App Store and choose "Updates". Here, in the top of the screen, is the "Purchased"-button. Tapping here will give you a complete list of all your downloaded Apps, ready to be re-downloaded.
As for your podcasts, plug your iPhone to your PC/Mac. Single-click your iPhone-device in the menu on the left. Once the iPhone-window appear, go to the tab-menu in the top of the screen and choose 'Podcasts'. From here you can decide which podcasts should be sync with your device.
    I hope this was helpful.
    Best regards.

  • The best Codec for Premiere CS4

I am trying to learn more about codecs, but still having trouble understanding it fully. I have a new computer, so it makes sense that I need a certain codec to install in order to view my video as I edit on Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. My footage works on Windows Media Player, and the quality is somewhat Poor when I play it on Quicktime (but at least it works).
Now a few questions I have. First, does anyone know the best codec to use for Adobe Premiere Pro? I import DV files from my camcorder, and almost all of my video files are ".avi"
Also, I notice that the codecs are different for each media player that I apply this footage to. And I simply see instructions to download the correct codec. Well first I dont know which codec would be best for my setup, plus my second question: Once I do install the correct codec, will Premiere automatically know to use that codec? Or do I have to adjust a certain setting in Premiere to make the correct codec function? I could not see any setting that allowed me to change the codec...
Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    -Rick Phillips

Ok, back from my break from all this, now time to get back to work. I will respond to everyone's post with the hopes that everyone will continue to be awesome and help me through this:
Glenn - I would upload a clip, but all of my video files are well over 5MB, and to do this I would have to recapture a clip, and spend alot of time making sure I upload it correctly, when i have already spent so much time trying to fix this and I simply do not think it is relevant at this point.
Harm - I'll see if I can get your questions answered properly. The only item under my Display Adapters is the Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. I contacted HP about how to find out what my Graphics and Video drivers were, and all they could say was that they are all components of this Chipset Family.
I do not know how to determine which Codec Adobe is trying to use (or needs for that matter). And I have downloaded so many suggested codecs it's not even funny, I dont even know which ones are in use at this point.
The camera I am using is a Canon GL2 MiniDV Camcorder, with a firewire cable. These are my Sequence Settings:
    -DV NTSC
    29.97 Frames/Second
    Frame Size 720 x 430 (4:3 ratio)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC (0.9091)
    -Lower Field First
    Display Format: 30fps Drop-Frame Timecode
    Preview File Format: NTSC DV
Codec: DV NTSC (will not allow me to configure)
So G-Spot will not properly identify the codecs that come with Premiere ProCS4... Then why in the world was I instructed to download it?... I have so many things to delete from my computer as soon as I have the solution.
Keano66 - I agree with you completely, I am positive that it is a driver issue. I downloaded Driver Doctor/Driver Detective (and paid for it, eeek...) and it shows that my graphics driver does indeed need to be updated. I have downloaded and updated all of these drivers, However Premiere Pro has not changed a bit...
But the reason I think it is a driver issue: I was instructed by HP support to completely uninstall this chipset Driver, and then to reinstall it from the HP website. So i did that and restarted the computer, and guess what? Premiere was FINALLY WORKING!!!! but then I had a different problem, all the icons on my computer and diplay settings were messed up, and I was then Instructed by HP to install updates to this driver. When I did this, all of my display settings were set back to normal, and everything seemed fine, except now, once again, I am back to square 1 with my problems on premiere Pro... Like before, it plays the sound, but not the video...
    Any suggestions?  Thanks everyone!
    -Rick

  • No preview codec, crashing on start up, no audio with black magic, asking for serials

    Hello,
I have 4 issues with Premiere CC. At work we have a school license of some sort, what I know we got a special design one from the  sales team (I might be wrong).
The problems we have runned into are:
    1. We students try to open a project they been working on a error screen popps up and says something like "No preview codec could be associated with this sequence...."
I think this happens when students have merged audio and video toghether.
    2. I got some help from the tech support and they made some changes in the libiry in one of the editing rooms computers and reinstalled premiere Pro CC.
It seemed as everything was working until I opened premiere CC the day after, and it asks me for a serial key. I tried putting in the serials we got and non of them worked.
I also tried logging on to the account we have and it still asks me for the serials. And when I try starting in in trail mode I can't playback anything.
    3. In another editing room Premiere was crashing on start up, so I was told by the tech support to uninstall all adobe softwares and update my mac OsX and then reinstall the softwares needed. It worked but if i save projects and try to open them up Premiere CC craches.
    4. On computers using black magic deck link I can't get audio out from premiere pro.
I would really appreicate if I could get some more support.
    Thank You
    Viking Jonsson

    Hello again,
So the sound issue is solved, so for other users with the same problem I will write down my way of making it work.
I read some time ago that someone made it work by starting AE and in AE more choices were avalible in the audio prefrences, but this didn't work for me but it might for some, thats why I write it here.
I took this a step futher and I opened up Audition CC, and in Audition CC the sound worked just fine and it was automatically set to black magic.
After I had open Audition CC I was then able  to select Premiere Pro 7.0 as the sound output in the Apple system settings sound prefrences.
Then the sound worked fine in AE and PP. Should also note that when I did it as said in the manual I didn't get it to work.
The preview preset issue is some what solved, I reinstalled premiere and upgrade my OSX as written above. First time I installed Creative Cloud I did it from a build from a hardrive I think that some how made it so creative cloud could not reach premiere correctly???
Although I still have the problem with serial numbers sometimes and I have to be logged on wich is don't work if i try to log on with the account on two or more computers.. Even thou we have a school license, so I still appreciate all help I can get with this.
I will also add that I heard that strange things can happen if users install apples latest ProApp QuickTime Codec 1.0.4 so watch out for that one at the moment, I sure adobe will fix this soon as well

  • Wrong sequence settings used on my timeline; can I copy the timeline to a new sequence with correct settings?

The clip properties are Frame size 1440x1080, 23.98 fps (yes a problem for FCE), Compressor:  Apple Intermediate Codec, but unfortunately I did all of my hard work on a 30 minute film on a sequence that has SD settings (Frame size 720x480), 29.97 fps, compressor: DV/DVCPRO- NTSC. I first noticed there was a problem when I could only get the exported quicktime movie to appear as a 4:3 when it was supposed to be a 16:9.  I have overcome that problem by exporting using quicktime conversion and customizing the settings to reflect the correct item properties of the original clips.
But my concern is that my project is still fundamentally based on a timeline that was created in a sequence with SD settings and that maybe I have lost some resolution quality.  I am sitting here looking at the iDVD preview and I am not always sure it looks as sharp as the same clip viewed in FCE dropped in a sequence with the right settings.  But maybe iDVD preview isn't as sharp, or maybe it's just myimagination.  Any thoughts?
Ideally, what I would liketo do is to copy my timeline out of the first sequence with the wrong settings, and to copy it into a new sequence with the proper settings.  But I am wondering if that timeline is now "infected" with the wrong settings, and brings these over to the new sequence.  The guy on the Apple help linetold me this was unfortunately the case.  Am I really going to have tocompletely do this work over again to get a completely correct workflow?
    Any way around this?

    Al,
very much appreciate your time on this.  Hopefully just one more question.  I am trying to figure out whether or not converting the tremendous amount of footage I have from this project shot in 24p will be worth it.  In my mind, it is only worth it, if by not doing it, I will end up with a finished product that does not have as good of a picture quality.  At this point, I dont care at all about having the 'film look' 24p is supposed to give you, I just dont the picture quality degraded somehow because FCE doesnt support 24p, and I am using a 29.97fps sequence to edit it.
So with all of that said, my question is this:
    1.  When you said before that when a clip hits a sequence it conforms to the properties of the sequence, what do you think is happening to the clip?  For instance, if the clip in the Browser as you shot it has got 1440 pixels for every 1080 lines and you place it on a 720x480 sequence, is some of that information literally disappearing?  That seems hard to believe.  I would think that kind of conversion would require a program to execute it and some processing time, but the drag and drop on a sequence is instantaneous.  And my HD footage on the SD sequence still seems to look better to me than my SD stuff, although that could just be perception.  Same issue with the frame rate.  When I drag and drop a 24fps clip onto a sequence set for 29.97 fps, how can the clip now have more frames per second?  That would be additonal information that was never captured in the first place.  How is that possible?  I do believe that the clips are changed in some way that affects the output, but it doesnt seem possible that 'conforming' to the properties of the sequence is the same thing as if you shot the original footage with those sequence settings. Something else must be meant by that right?
    2.  Will converting the original clips in streamclip change the frame rate..them from 24p to 29.97?  If they are still 24p, then don't you still run into the same problem when you edit in FCE?  And if they are changed to 29.97, how is that better than just dropping them onto a sequence set to HDV 1080 29.97fps and having it conform to that?  What exactly is the upshot of doing the streamclip conversion?  Especially if I don't care about the 24p look now.

  • Problems with Codec in Premiere Pro 5.5

    Hi All.
I've been having problems with Premiere Pro 5.5 and in partucular the 'Intel IYUV Codec'.
I originally created a project in PP version 5. Then converted it to 5.5. All was working well until one day I went into work in it and it would not work. A message came up "THis project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset or codec could be associated with this sequence type"
I found some posts in this forum that suggested fixing some of the offending sequences, which I did and it seemed to work fine. This involved changing the sequences preview to use the DV 24p Advanced codec instead of the default Intel IYUV Codec.
However, the program seems to default back to the IYUV codec when I close the program down. Each time I have to go back into Version 5 and manually change the codecs back to DV 24p Advanced.
However, what confuses me is that in earlier versions of my project that do open in 5.5, I notice that they are still using the IYUV codec. WHich I thought was the offending item in loading up in 5.5.
I would continue to just edit in version 5, but we have some Red Epic footage that we need to add in and then will be shooting some further footage on the Epic.
Needless to say I'm a bit confused. So if anyone has some ideas or instruction that could help me get this sorted so I can edit my project in 5.5 I would be so grateful.
    regards
    Darran

    Hi Jim.
I had created a custom preset using the Desktop, and then for the codec I had changed it to Microsoft AVI and then for the codec DV 24P Advanced.
However I may have solved my own problem with regards to it reverting back to the Intel codec. I changed the amount of Auto Saves, (which was only set at 5, to 10) So I'm figuring it was not letting me save the sequence presets when it did an austo save. Seems to work fine now. I also noticed that in 5.5 there is no Intel IYUV codec, which would explain why it cannot open the sequences. So I'm hoping it's all good now. thanks.

    Hi everybody
I did the following to solve ALL problems I had with crashes, file reading errors, AJA video preview, switching to other software etc.
(@Todd: refering to the other blog, all these problems are solved as well! I work with QT movies and MXF.)
    – Deleted all DVCpro components
    – Reset PRAM
    – Repaired Permissions in Safe Mode
    – Deleted AE prefs when starting AE
Now I can switch and play around like I always did.
And even my AJA output stays there when getting back to AE.
Thanks for your support and help!

  • Video Preview Pixilated in Premiere Elements 8.0

All of my home movies captured on MiniDV using a Panasonic PV-GS400 in Standard 4:3 are distorted in the preview video in Premiere Elements 8.0. They worked fine in PE 2.0 and were in fact captured using PE 2.0. I've verified that the Projects setting are NTSC DV Standard but the previews are still pixilated to the point that they are unrecognizable.
I know if I re-install PE 2.0 they will work fine. How do I get the previews working properly in 8.0.

Something is wrong somewhere. The capture systems for miniDV in versions 2 and 8 virtually identical. The video is not in any way changed between camcorder and computer. You can capture in version 2, version 8, Windows MovieMaker or WinDV and your AVIs will be identical.
You say you ensured that your version 8 project is set up as 4:3. I also note that you say the PREVIEW is what looks distorted.
Try taking the video in version 8 and Share/Personal Computer to save it as an AVI, WMV or MOV. Have a look at that and see if this output looks distorted.
If it, too, is distorted, we'll know there's something wrong in the program settings. If not, we'll know that something is wrong with your preview window.
Finally, you don't say if your video is squished long or squished tall, but that can make a difference too. If, for instance, your video is squished tall in your preview, note if there are black letterboxing bars along the sides. If so, the problem could be in the project settings you used to capture or even shoot the video!

  • Audio codec settings greyed out

hello - hope someone can answer this..
Why can't I access the Audio codec settings when exporting the media from Premiere ? I should be able to set the AAC bitrate, since that option is available from Media Encoder when exporting audio only..
This is with premiere pro CS6 6.0.2, OSX 10.7.5

The best method is to simply export out with Progressive settings.

  • CS5 QT Codec Settings window is cutting off settings

    I am running CS5 on Win 7 x64
and every time I open Render Queue > Output Module > QuickTime > Codec Settings
I get the little dialogue box "Adjust the settings in the dialog provided by the codec, then close it when finished. [ Bring to front ]"
but the dialog box with the settings is tiny, about 160px tall and the settings go well below the 160px cut off point.
There is no way to click on the options lower in the window.
Previous versions of AE didn't give me this problem on the same computer.
Is anyone else seeing this?  Is there a solution or work-around?
    Thanks!

Confirmed that the Avid Codecs LE 2.2.1 package does not fix this.   However we have heard that Avid is working on a version with the fix but it's not available yet.
As a workaround, you can save a Output Module template file (.aom) from After Effects CS4 with the desired settings for Avid DNxHD and import that into After Effects CS5.
Some background on this problem might be helpful.  It's a little convoluted and requires some understanding of the QuickTime  API.  Which I don't have but smarter people have explained it to me and I  think I can pass it along to you.
There is no  64-bit version of QuickTime, so Adobe created an intermediate 32-bit  process that After Effects and Premiere Pro CS5 can talk to.  It's  called Adobe QT32 Server and you can see it running in Task Manager or  Activity Monitor when After Effects or Premiere Pro are active.  When  you press the Codec Settings button in the QuickTime Options dialog in  After Effects, a request is made to QT32 Server to get the dialog for  the codec controls via QuickTime.  (QT32 Server is also responsible for  that little dialog box with the "Bring to front" button, which is there to make sure  that you don't lose the codec settings dialog behind other windows.)
Here's the important part:  Apple's QuickTime API specifies two  different ways by which applications can get the codec controls UI.   Either by calling the entire full QuickTime settings UI (which is what  After Effects CS4 does) or by just asking for the codec-specific  settings in a separate dialog.  After Effects and Premiere Pro CS5 use  the latter method because it simplifies both the UI and the interchange  between the 64-bit application and the QT32 Server process.
The  problem happens when the codec developer doesn't correctly build the  that separate dialog box containing the codec controls.  This is  necessary for that second API method used by After Effects CS5.  It's  not necessary for the full QuickTime settings UI, which handles those controls.  And since most applications use the full QuickTime  settings UI, it's possible the developer programmed the dialog but it wasn't  fully tested.  Or maybe they just thought that no one used that second  API and didn't program it at all.
Problems with the codec settings  dialogs aren't limited to Avid DNxHD.  AJA's codecs, for example,  don't show a dialog box at all when you press the Codec Settings  button in After Effects CS5, which I suspect means they haven't set the  bounds for their dialog box.  We have contacted AJA about this, of  course, and I will admit to not having updated my AJA codecs in a while  so they may have very well fixed the problem.
For what it's worth, all of the built-in QuickTime  codecs from Apple provide the correct UI.  So do some other third party codecs, and so does Avid for some of  their codecs.  For example, the Avid DV100 codec uses a separate dialog  box, even when using the full QuickTime settings UI.  Select the Avid  DV100 codec in After Effects CS4 and you'll see the Options button in  the lower left that opens the same settings dialog that After Effects  CS5 accesses directly.
I hope  that explanation helps some.
