Sequence Preview Presets or Codec?

I have a project I created on Premiere CS5, but I want to complete it on CC 2014 using my new MacPro at work.
Every time I try to open the file, I get this error:
This project contained a sequence that could not be opened.
No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.
It is all Red footage, so I thought it might have something to do with Red codecs. But when I start a new project, and import a Red file, it works fine.
Adobe Creative Cloud 2014 was just installed on this system 2 days ago, so it should be up to date.
What am I doing wrong?
I am at my wits end. Any ideas?

Hi,
This is the activation issue, premiere pro is not getting activated properly.
Please quit all the Adobe applications.
Sign out from creative cloud desktop app and quit that as well.
Please go the following location and drag the Adobe folder to desktop
User Library >> Application support>> Adobe*
User Library>> Preferences>> Adobe*
Make sure you are in User library not in system library.
Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later
Then launch creative cloud desktop app and sign in.
Launch premiere pro and create a new project, It might ask you to sign in wit your Adobe ID and password to activate it.
Once done, Please quit premiere pro and relaunch it the check all the sequence presets.
Hope that helps.
Thank you,
Mohd Naseem

  • Why is it that when I try to open a project, it says "the project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type"?

It could be opened last night but today it just kept showing "the project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type". I really need to access my video.
    Some help out there, please?

  • "this project contained a sequence that could not be opened. no sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type"

So, i have ran though these forums for the past 5 hours to find an answer to this error. Nothing is working.  (on mac with CC2014)
I have tried uninstalling all of CC and reinstalling
I have used the Adobe Cleaner
Signed out of Creative Cloud Desktop and signed back in
Opened a new sequence and imported the old one (this allows me to work with the file once, but if i try to open the new sequence it gives me the same message)
Whats really messed up is that another machine in the office has been able to open it. We are on the same versions
And please excuse this last part, its a bit of venting my frustrations.
Why is there no troubleshooting hotline? I went through the support page a couple of times before realizing it was just looping back to itself and offering no solution other than reading the forums. The instant messaging and support phone line are only for installing and purchasing products. I understand that filtering everyone to the forums is a convenient way to save time and money but i'm now out of resources to read and have gotten no where with no idea of how to proceed. pages like https://forums.adobe.com/message/4626663#4626663#4626663 offer no help because they don't actually address the issue of missing codecs, only how to sign out of Creative Cloud Desktop.

    Hi Aaron,
The issue that you are facing is related to activation.
Please go to the system library on the computer-application support-Adobe and rename the SLStore and SLCache folder.
Relaunch Premiere Pro and check if it works or not.
In case this doesn't fix the issue, then go to the desktop screen, click GO on the top-Go to folder, type /etc
Then find the hosts file and see if there are any Adobe Entries, Please remove those entries and save the Hosts File.
    Thank You

  • New document about sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro

If you're having problems with sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro, see this document for solutions for this activation issue.
This document relates to the following problems:
    - missing sequence presets when creating a new sequence
    - Encore error: "Encore will not launch in non-royalty bearing mode. The application needs to be serialized with a royalty bearing serial number."
    - When opening a project in Premiere Pro: "Error Adobe Premiere Pro: This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."
    - When importing footage, the footage is missing audio or video.
These failures are all because Premiere Pro and Encore use some codecs that require activation before they can be used. If activation of these codecs has failed, these codecs will not be available to use.

    Well done.

  • My 2008 Mac Pro running Lion will not play HDV1080i60 footage in FCP 7. When I open the sequence settings, all HDV codecs are hdv1, hdv2, hdv3, and so forth. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

My 2006 - 2008 Mac Pro running Lion will not play HDV 1080i60 footage in FCP 7. When I open the sequence settings, all HDV codecs are hdv1, hdv2, hdv3, and so forth. However, when I open the project on my other Mac Pro running Snow Leopard and FCP 6, the footage works fine as it does on my newer Imac running Mavericks and FCP 7. I have tried a Quicktime update on the Mac Pro that the footage doesn't work on but it says that I already have the newest version of Quicktime installed. I have also tried reinstalling the Final Cut Pro Studio twice, still no fix. I'm completely out of solutions and need to be able to edit HDV footage on this machine. Any help would be great. Thanks.

there was a recent software update that seemed to screw HDV up.  Do some searching here over the last month or 2 and you'll find a bunch of posts and some possible solutions.
Worst case scenario, do as Shane suggests.  But might I suggest you take a look at the user tips section of the forum.  there are some great tips on how to prevent these sorts of problems by cloning your startup drive, etc.

  • Export MPEG Preview, I-frame codec

I'm using Premiere Pro CS6 with a Creative Cloud subscription. I've set up a project to match the MPG settings of my NEX5N camera, IE MPEG I-Frame at 1440x1080, 25P. If I set up an export by "matching sequence settings", those same settings show up in the export, though they're grayed out and can't be modified. This gives me great speed for exporting, since everything stays native.
I'd like to set up a similar export, but at 720P settings for the web. However, I can't find MPEG Preview as one of the export settings, even though it pops up when I match the sequence settings. How can I find this export setting? I'm on a Macbook Air with Mountain Lion, by the way. Thanks!

Dont use Match Sequenc Settings it gives you a preview codec which you do not want.
Best is to use a preset or set everything manually.
    Look under H.264 for a 720p25 preset.

  • DNxHD 185x Sequence preview settings

Working with DNxHD 185x (1920x1080 25p) codec, I realized that when I create a new sequence dropping one clip to new element button, the new sequence's preview settings are DNxHD 120 (1920x1080 25p). Any idea why? I don't understand why premiere changes the preview settings to a lower quality codec.

No idea.  But whenever 'automatic' behavior doesn't produce the desired results, you can always do things manually.

  • .ffx and .aet previews/presets not playing in Bridge

Asked this in the Bridge forum and it was suggested to ask here:
I am running CS5.5 on a Mac (10.6.8) and when I want to preview an After Effects text animation preset or project template, Bridge opens and I can click through the various presets/templates, but when they play, there is no preview...only a playhead that moves when I click the play button and the file name:
    For example:
I have the .ffx and .aet files on my hard drive where the installer put them.  Any thoughts as to why the previews don't show up in Bridge?
I am new to Bridge and thus far only use it for this purpose...
    Thanks in advance.
    Jonathan

    > In previous versions of AE, you could bring up a web-help page that showed all the animations...how do I get there now?
    It's gone.
    > If the previews are embedded files, can I view them somewhere else (are they in my hard drive...if so, where)?
No. The previews are built into the animation preset files.
    >If my QT player is encountering a problem as you and Mylenium state, how do I fix it?
I don't know. As I said, I am no Bridge expert. This seems like a question for the folks on the Bridge forum. Yes, I know that you said that they pointed you here, but this is an issue with a media player built into Bridge, and that is outside of the scope of After Effects.
If you want a better answer, I recommend contacting Adobe Technical Support:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact
Be sure to specify that it's a Bridge issue when you call, so that you get routed to the right folks.

  • Mavericks has botched preview icons and codec support

Preview icons for png files are not showing in finder since installing Mavericks. In Snow Leopard they were fine. Even certain jpg files won't show the preview icon. Joke. Anyone know how to fix this? Also, I used to be able to get wmv preview icons if I installed flip4mac and perian on Snow Leopard; Now, no siree. Of course, Once again, Apple. Thanks. Let's see how many years it'll take to fix this if at all..... an yes, I tried going to finder view > show view options and clicking on the icon preview box. It was already checked. but I did click on it a few times for the **** of it, of course that didn't help.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • How to change sequence audio preset?

in my browser, my FOOTAGE audio rate is 48khz/audio format 16-bit integer. but my SEQUENCE audio rate is 48khz/audio format 32-bit floating point.
when i go to adjust the sequence settings to make my sequence 16-bit as well, it says it is 48khz/16, but that doesn't correspond to how the sequences are in my browser. when i try to add new sequences, it adds them as 32-bit instead of 16 still.
    any ideas?

Your sequence will show 32bit floating point as it's functionality. Why, I don't know...others here may.
If you open a sequence, then go to MainMenu/Sequence/Settings, you'll see that the settings there should be 16bit depth.
    That should be correct.
Are you having issues with anything, or simply determining what's up?

  • Incorrect Sequence/Timeline Presets, Switch from SD to HD?

    Hello,
My friend is editing her film, which was filmed in DVCPROHD720p24n, but accidentally dropped all of her footage into a NTSC DV 3:2 timeline without realizing it. We have been trying to find a way to get the footage into an HD timeline, but the image remains in SD resolution with a black box around it, even though both the timeline and the clips seem to have DVCPROHD 720p60 presets. I cannot get the footage to "pop" back into its proper resolution. Is there any way for FCP to recognize that the image is supposed to fill the frame? We would rather not re-edit from scratch.

you can use the "remove attributes" function to remove all the basic motion (scale) and distort (aspect ratio) adjustments that were applied automatically when the clips were dropped back into the timeline ... however this will remove ALL basic motion and distort attributes, so any that you set on purpose will also be lost
first duplicate your project and save it in a safe place.
next select all the clips in the timeline, press apple-option-v then, in the remove attributes window, select the basic motion and distort attributes (they should be th eonly ones that you select, everything else should be unchecked)
    press OK
    be amazed and/or horrified
another tack would be to use media manager on the original DV version of the sequnece.
first duplicate your project and save it in a safe place.
then choose "create offline" and set the settings to match the dvcprohd settings that your project should have been.
then reconnect the new offline dvcprohd version of the project to the original media and see if that doesn't fix the problem

  • Having trouble previewing presets

I am new to lightroom and just watched a tutorial.  The tutorial told me that I should be able to see the effect that a preset has on my photo in the navigator window just by hovering the arrow over the preset.  However, when I do this my picture shows no change.  What am I missing?

This is often related to embedded YouTube videos in your webpage.
    See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/499751
"This warning is talking about the Flash Global Security Settings Manager. This is not a virus but rather a very common security step related to allowing Flash to connect to the Internet while testing on your local machine. This only occurs during testing on your local machine and does not come into play when that same Flash object is on the Web page on the server.
The Settings Manger allows you to "approve" connecting to the Internet for a particular Flash object.
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/se ttings_manager04.html
So go to the Settings Manager, Click "Edit Locations" or "Add Location" and browse on you computer for the Flash file that you are giving permisssion to connect to the Internet. Each Flash object that attempts to access the Internet will need to be given permission separately.
Kind of a pain... or just upload your Flash to the server and test from there, then it's not an issue."
