Sequencing machine OS language

is it OK to use an app sequenced on Win7 En sequencer on Win7 French ?
Thx.

Is it ok? Sure, fire ahead. I think we may need a better definition of the word OK though. It will likely depend on the application and how it handles language settings. Give it a go and see how you get on.

    i have separate task sequence for each language so it's possible to create report machine name with language specific to collection

    i have separate task sequence for each language
    That will work but it's not considered "best practise" as it can most likely be handled by a single task sequence.
    I don't understand which report you need. Please provide the colums names and where the data should be taken from.

  • HT203176 my computer hangs frequently - rolling beach ball - apparently some endless loops - I have repaired the permissions countless times but the problem continues - the faulty permissions include java virtual machine and language libraries

    I get the rolling beach ball frequently when using a browser -I have repaired the permissions a number of times - each time I do this - the same issues show up-  language libraries, java virtual machine etc - after a restart the btowser works for awhile and then hangs again - i trashed both Chrome and Firefox and am now using Safari and Opera - neither of which work very fast and I still get a frozen screen - rolling beach ball - have to force quit.On the activity monitor it shows that the  browser I am using has several hangs.
    Aside from reinstalling everything - is  there a fix for this?

    Those Permissions errrors will keep appearing. They are not errors; ignore them. Your problem has nothing to do with Permissions repair. Many possible causes, one of which may be A-V. Do you have any A-V installed?

    How many applications open concurrently when this happens?
    How much drive free space? You should maintain at least around 20-30GB.

  • Sequencer machine shutting down after revert

    I am running a sequencer (W7) on Hyper-V.
    Suddenly when I revert this VM after packaging it shutting down. Then when start I get standard Windows was not properly shutdown. Takes long to boot. But works Ok then... I guess there is no relation to the "sequencer role" of this VM and it is
    just Hyper-V related. But may somebody saw this... For me it is first time.

    The Windows was not properly shutdown error has no relation with the sequencer.
    Start the VM
    Ignore the Windows was not properly shutdown error
    Shutdown the VM

  • AppV5 Excel/Office ProPlus 2013 Click to Run Sequencing (and include some native Addins)

    Hello,
    We need two native Excel 2013 Addins: PowerPivot and PowerView. Since Office 2010 is installed locally on all client machines I would like to virtualize Excel 2013 (Click to Run) with these two addins. Licensing is no issue because an
    Office 365 subscription will be purchased.
    So, I have successfully sequenced Excel 2013 with AppV 5.0 SP1 via the Office Deployment Tool. It all seems too easy:
    First download sources (setup.exe /download configuration.xml)
    Second configure sources (setup.exe <xml file>)
    Last create the AppV package (setup.exe /packager <xml> <path to save .appv package>)
    My Configuration.xml file looks like this:
    <Configuration>
    <Add SourcePath="\\serverr\share" OfficeClientEdition="32" >
    <Product ID="ExcelRetail">
    <Language ID="en-us" />
    </Product>
    </Add>
    <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
    <Logging Name="Office2013Setup.txt" Path="%temp%" />
    <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />
    </Configuration>
    But I end up with an Excel 2013 AppV package that:
    Doesn’t include the addins (no wonder because I didn’t sequenced it myself).
    All the 'first run wizards' popup at launch (Default File Type question & Welcome to your new Office). Normally I disable these with OCT for physical installations, or configure them while sequencing.
    Is there a way to disable the first run wizards in the “setup.exe /configure” step? And can I add Excel Addins during package creation? Or need I script this within the DeploymentConfig.xml/UserConfig.xml with a .reg import for example?
    Thanks,

    You said you used the Office Toolkit? In this you can set Disable Opt-in Wizard on first run.
    Was this used when installing on the sequencing machine?
    Alternatively you could attempt to launch excel during the sequencing phase and go through those menu's to ensure they don't launch on first launch of the virtual Excel. I believe that shouldn't be a problem since.
    For the Add-in's, it seems like you know they weren't included or connected in any way, that's likely the issue with those.

  • App-V SP3 Sequenced Packages Fail to Install via MSI with Error

    I upgraded my sequencer machine and 2 client machines to App-V SP3 and proceeded to sequence 2 new packages. I then attempted to install the new packages on the client PCs using the automatically created MSI and got the following errors during install. Note
    I am logged into the PC with an Admin user. Screen shot 1 pops up during the install, then screenshot 2 shows up right after. I have also included the event log error. Note that packages sequenced using SP2 install fine via their MSI on the SP3 client machine.
    Both a Win7 and Win81 client with SP3 give this error, and I have tried reinstalling the clients on both PCs. If I add and publish the packages via powershell they work fine. Any assistance is appreciated.
    AppV Error Code: 0300000102

    OK, fond the issue in the msi file. Do the following steps to fix the issue:
    Download the mst that fixes the issue: http://www.notmyfault.ch/downloads/AppV5_SP3Fix.zip
    Extract the mst file and copy it into the same folder as your msi file
    Run the following command: msiexec /i YourAppvPackage.msi TRANSFORMS=AppV5_SP3Fix.mst
    If you want to run it unattended, add /qb as parameter. Make sure your current directory is the one that contains the msi/mst or just add the full path to your msi and mst. Don't rename your msi, use the original name that has been created by the sequencer.
    Let me know if that fixes your issue.

  • Sequencing Adobe Reader

    discovered that v-Adobe Reader fails to open a particular report from a web page.
    Locally installed Reader works well.
    I sequenced AR 6 month ago following the instructions on APPV recipes site (one of well known).
    Before starting a new sequencing I would like to ask a suggestion/s.
    I found instructions on Adobe site (updated Dec 2014). Can somebody review if all this should be done because they refer to appv 4.6 and I am running 5 sp2 HF5.
    The most important for me points are 2, 19 and 26. Sure that we don't have Q: but PVD that I place on C:\Folder
    The original link to official Adobe APPV deployment is here:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/appv.html
    My goal is to make fully enabled READER. Probably, before clicking I finished I will double check all preferences.
    Thanks.
    Creating an App-V package¶
    Administrators can create their own App-V Reader package from scratch. Alternatively, use the Pkg Accelerator as described in
    Using the Pkg Accelerator.
    Sequencing Adobe Reader XI¶
    Prepare the sequencing machine following the guidelines provided in Microsoft’s
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd351420.aspx.
    Note
    Failure to adhere to the best practices and following guidelines can cause errors in functionality. You may find it worthwhile to follow the MS example in Microsoft’s
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/7/8/F784A197-73BE-48FF-83DA-4102C05A6D44/App-V/App-V%204.6%20Service%20Pack%201%20Sequencing%20Guide.docx.
    To prepare a reference machine for sequencing:
    Install the App-V Sequencer.
    Configure the registry:
    Go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SoftGrid\4.5\SystemGuard\Overrides.
    Create a DWORD EnableVFSPassthrough.
    Set the value to 1.
    Start the Microsoft Sequencer.
    Select  Create a new Virtual Application Package > Create Package.
    Choose  Next.
    If there are any warnings on the  Prepare Computer screen, take the needed actions to correct them.
    Choose  Next.
    On the  Type of Application screen, select
    Standard Application as the default type.
    Choose  Next.
    On the  Select Installer screen, enter the path to your product installation files.
    Choose  Next.
    In the  Package Name screen, enter an application name (such as Adobe Reader XI) in the
    Virtual Application field.
    In the Installation screen, change  INSTALLDIR to Q:\<Package
    Name> (such as Adobe Reader XI), and follow the installation steps.
    After the installation completes, check  I am finished installing.
    Choose  Next.
    After the application collects the system changes, choose  Next.
    In the Configure screen, run Adobe Reader XI to complete first run tasks such as accepting the EULA.
    Review the Installation Report which detects common sequencing issues during sequencing.
    On the Customize screen choose  Customize:
    Choose  Edit Shortcuts.
    On the Edit Shortcuts screen, choose  Add.
    Browse to each the following (change the path as needed) and choose
    Save:
    Q:\<Package Name>\Reader\Reader\AdobeCollabSync.exe
    Q:\<Package Name>\Reader\Reader
    \AcroRd32Info.exe
    Q:\<Package Name>\Reader\Reader\PDFPrevHndlrShim.exe
    Edit the versions of all the four exes from 11.0.0.379 to 11.0.0.
    Choose  Next without further customizations.
    In the Prepare for Streaming screen, run the application to create the primary feature block. Feature block 1 and Feature block 2 are required:
    Feature Block 1: The minimum necessary block of data required for successful launch
    Feature Block 2: Streamed to the client PC as the user starts using the application
    As each application shuts down, choose  Next.
    On Restrict Operating Systems for this package screen, select the operating systems on which this package should work.
    Choose  Next.
    Save the package by clicking on Create button.
    Close the package.
    Open all of the OSD files in a text editor and do the following:
    For each OSD, change the value of LOCAL_INTERACTION_ALLOWED tag from FALSE to TRUE under the <POLICIES> tag.
    Add the following policies in all of the OSD files under the <POLICIES> tag:
    <VIRTUAL_FILE_SYSTEM_PASS_THROUGH>TRUE</VIRTUAL_FILE_SYSTEM_PASS_THROUGH>
    <VIRTUAL_REGISTRY_PASS_THROUGH>TRUE</VIRTUAL_REGISTRY_PASS_THROUGH>
    <ENFORCE_ACLS_ON_VREG_MODIFY>TRUE</ENFORCE_ACLS_ON_VREG_MODIFY>
    Optional (This step is only needed when there will be both a local Acrobat and App-V Reader on the system): Remove the following lines from the Reader XI OSD:
    <FILEEXTENSION EXT="pdf" PROGID="AcroExch.Document.11" PERCEIVEDTYPE="" CONTENTTYPE="application/pdf" OVERRIDDEN="FALSE">
    <SHELLNEW ENABLED="FALSE"/>
    </FILEEXTENSION>
    Save the OSD files.
    Launch the Sequencer and Reopen the package in Edit Mode.
    Choose the OSD tab.
    From all the OSDs except Adobe Reader XI, remove all the shortcuts under MGMT_SHORTCUTLIST element.
    Disable updates:
    Go to the Virtual Registry System.
    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe
    Acrobat\11.0\FeatureLockDown.
    Create a new DWORD called bUpdater.
    Set the value to 0.
    Save the package so that the changes are saved in the manifest file.
    --- When you hit a wrong note its the next note that makes it good or bad. --- Miles Davis

    I'd recommend that you don't follow that recipe as there's a lot there that's App-V 4.6 specific BUT, having said that, point # 32 is still relevant (setting bUpdater to 0)
    Also, see this - https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2900929
    Aaron Parker has delved very deeply into the deployment of Acrobat Reader in an enterprise environment so you will find a lot of good info on settings etc here: http://stealthpuppy.com/adobe-reader-xi-deployment/
    So you didn't have any luck troubleshooting the web page / report problem?

  • Sequencing and AD

    trying to sequence an app... (sequencer machine is not in AD)
    during installation get the error : installation cannot continue. The folder written in configuration file is not valid.
    The same app installs without problems on W7 in AD.
    I run the installation from the server (by supplier's procedure). So for accessing Install file I access it by server IP
    Obviously, the name of the server in the config file is not resolvable.
    1. I can probably add the server name to the host file and give a try...
    2. Probably it is bad idea... but want to ask if it is possible to place the sequencer in AD.
    What is the impact on APPV package
    --- When you hit a wrong note its the next note that makes it good or bad. --- Miles Davis

    I'm assuming by AD you mean in the domain.
    We have had a few of these and installing the sequencer onto a domain machine has allowed us to capture the software.
    Its suggested to disable antivirus, SCCM, and a few other things, but its not a bad idea (in my opinion).  Just wipe the machine when you are done.
    I would suggest to choose a domain machine that has only software common to all machines in the domain, so the software being captured doesn't rely on a common component (vc runtime, etc) that doesn't exist on the machine.  For instance, if every machine
    has MS Office, capturing with MS Office present is OK, but if only half the machines have it, I wouldn't capture with it being present.

  • SAP 2007A PL 35 Client Installs in Foreign Language (Chezh or Danish)

    Hi All,
    When we install SAP 2007A client on user machines where language settings are English UK, the client installs in foreign language like Czech or Danish or Greek but English.
    Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
    Regards
    Devinder

    Hi Devinder,
    There is no known cause for this behavior, however, there is a way to solve this issue.
    In the Business One folder, in the GUI folder, you could just
    add a ".bak" extension to the Danish and Czech language, then the
    program will automatically take English.
    E.g. like this: SBO_Danish (Denmark).LRF.bak
    please make a back up of your client first.
    Hope this will be helpful.
    Kind regards,

  • Installing just a virtual machine

    What part of this software would I have to install on the computers at work if I wanted to use my applications there. They don't need compilers, just the platform, whatever it is that makes this non-machine specific language work. On my installation CD (from code warrior) I don't see any options for installing that. The options I see checked for installation here, (where I must have a VM) are JDK support, Java support (both are libraries) and GUI. The vm must be in there somewhere but where?

  • Reinstalling iMovie error - incorrect language?

    I bought iLife '06 and have been using it for the past year but wanted to install older iDVD themes that I hadn't previously installed. But for whatever reason I can't. Whenever I insert my install disc, I get an error that I can't install. The installer tells me that my computer's language is incorrect and can't continue.
    What the heck is going on? I checked my System Prefs and in the International pane it's set to English. Is there something I'm overlooking? Lord knows I didn't change my machine's language. I don't have iLife '08 either, nor do I want it. Am I SOL or what?

    OK... just wanted to pass along the actual error message I get when I try to perform an upgrade using my original iLife '06 disc:
    *iLife is not compatible with the language of your computer.*
    Please obtain a copy of iLife ’06 for your the language of your computer.

  • Header Bytes in fox pro index file (cdx)

    Hi,
    I am developing tool a fox pro databse. I am using ADO with OleDB. Unfortunatly we can not update the index files. They seem to have different headers as the one we create using the oleDB methods. The header looks like this (bytes 0-1f):
    0a 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 0a 00 e0 01
    cd ab 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00
    We use following connection string:
    provider=vfpoledb.1;data source=C:\PATH\TO\DB;Collating Sequence=MACHINE
    Any DBF reader we use are also not able to read indexes. Do we use a wrong fox pro version or runtime library. Any help is appreciate.
    Jacob

    >the files are for sure dbf and cdx.
    There is no doubt about file extensions. DBF and CDX also exist for other languages, eg clipper and dbase.
    I already showed this CDX is not a foxpro CDX.
    So again asked: What is the first byte in the DBF, it will tell about the DBF type.
    Besides you can't do the USE command as you do, that would only work with IDX, a CDX is a compound index
    file with several tags.
    The error you get again just points out this is not a foxpro CDX.

    I have a problem with Labview 2009 and Labview 2010. I updated my Labview 2009 into 2010. But it turned out to be a trial one, because i did not have the serial number. So I uninstalled the Labview 2010. however, the funny stuff came over. I cannot use my Labview 2009. So i uninstalled Labview 2009 again. But eventually, I could not reinstall Labview 2009. Every time i had a runtime error and i could not proceed with the installation. in addition, any installation  related to Labview is not permitted and the same error came up every time. it is very annoying.

    By chance is this machine's language set to any non-English locale?  You would check the locale setting by:
    Opening Control Panel.
    Opening "Regional and Language Options".
    Looking Under "Regional Options" >> "Standards and Formats"
    If it is set to something besides English, trying setting it to English and please report back what locale it was set to (or if this even solves the problem).
