Sequencing photos

Before updating system I could sequence photos on iPad.
After recent syncing with laptop some album photos are out of sequence and not able to be re arranged.
Very frustrating as it used to be easy to just hold down photo and put it in the order I want...ESP chronological order...not time/ date of photo but trying to get historical sequence of content.
Any tips? Do I need to buy an app as they most recent update has deleted this function?
I tried shutter fly but that doesn't work to rearrange sequence.

Hi King_Pinguin and Narelle2026,
the answer from King Pinguin is 100% correct so my comment is just an addition.
If you are using a Mac with iPhoto or Aperture please go to this Photo Tools and sort the albums and pictures using the normal functionality. After that please do an iTunes sync again an all should be fine.
If you are using a PC and a photo tool like Adobe Lightroom or ACDSee then check if you can see the (Modification) Date, change it (if wrong) and export the picture to a folder. Then use that folder to sync with iTunes.
If the modification date is wrong on some or all pictures the PhotoManagerPro can help you with a manual sorting (MY SORTING) or sorting by DATE, TYPE, NAME, FILE SIZE and STAR Rating.
In Windows Explorer you can check the dates by right click and choose ATTRIBUTES.
best regards
Peter
PS: Hi King Pinguin,
I am using PhotoManagerPro and have found that the Sorting is wrong for MP4 Movies when I am using Cyberduck FTP to sync (even the keep change date is checked in preferences). If I am using the import from iPad photos then the sorting is correct.
Do you have seen that as well ?

How can i sequence photos which have been taken over a period of months and exported to photo stream in no order for a slide show which must have the photos ordered manually?
    thanks

You can't resequence the order in photo stream if that's what you are asking.  You say you've been taking photos over a period of months - I hope these are not just in photo stream, because photos stay in the stream for up to 30 days (and only a max of 1000 pictures).  You need to copy the photos [once they've been synced by the stream to a computer] to an album (on a mac) to folder (PC) were you can organize them any way you want.
Always sync photos to a computer (either by USB or iCloud) as you would with a digital camera.  Never trust them to iCloud alone - too many users have lost most/all their photos when performing restores or whatever.

  • Sequencing photos in an album within Adobe Revel

In an Photoshop.com album you can drag a photo to the sequence you desire. If the photo has a sequencial number it is uploaded in that sequence whereas Revel seems to be uploading my photos in a ramdom sequence. How do I correct this like I could in Photoshop?

The sequencing sorting issue is a commonly requested one. The photos are sorted by date right now and we hope to have other ways to sort in the future. We have compiled the customer suggesting and shared them with product management.

  • Re-sequencing Photos

Changing the sequence of pictures in a folder-my son and I have just returned from a long trek, during which we both took a large number of photos. We would like to combine then into a slideshow in the correct sequence. Unfortunately the date settings on our cameras differed by 24 hours. Is there an easy way to relabel the files from the incorrect camera so that when the two sets are combined they will be in the correct order?

You can update the time stamp on his camera's images by selecting the errant photos and then using Metadata>Edit Capture Time…  and choosing the Shift by set number of hours (time-zone adjust) and choosing + or - 24 hours-which ever is appropriate.

  • Maintaining Photo Sequence from An Album To A Memory Stick (Flash Drive)

In iPhoto '11, Mac OS x 10.6.7, I want to copy the precise photo sequence I have in an album to a memory stick, for input into a photo frame (so the photos will play in proper sequence in the photo frame slideshow mode). Problem is the photos exported from the album to the stick lose the sequence I arranged in the album. Within the album I did a batch change and separated the photos by 1 minute, which I thought would "cement" the sequence of the photos from the album to the stick.  Wrong.  The photos exported to the stick kept their original date / time imported (also called modified) and thus did not keep the sequence I established in the album.  FYI, all these photos were originally hard photos and were scanned into iPhoto library and later put into an album - thus the sequence within the album was manually arranged because the original input scanning was random.  So, now that I have nicely sequenced photos within an album, how do I export and maintain the sequence from an album onto a stick?
    Thanks,
    H

The photos exported to the stick kept their original date / time imported (also called modified) and thus did not keep the sequence I established in the album.
When you modify the date of the Photos in iPhoto you change the Exif metadata of the shot. This is standard photo metadata and how every photo app tracks the date and time of the photograph.
When you export to the Finder (as you do when you send them to the memory stick) it uses File metatada to sort. This is not the same as Exif and the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So this trick won't work for you. You need to use something that the Finder understands and will sort on
Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
Set your photos in the order you want
Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

  • Photo merge blurry

I just install Adobe Photo Shop Elements 13 for the sole purpose of dealing with HDR and other touch up issues to pictures. Well I perform a photo merge of a 3 sequence photos with different exposure, in the hope of creating a single image (Note- I also have Elements 10 witch works fine but I figure that version 13 will do a better job) to my surprise it does not work correctly.
The result is a blurry picture like the picture is shifty this product is not working. This is a piece of Sh.... product that something that works on 10 doesn't even work on 13.
These are the steps I did to deal with the HDR photos. Choose all 3 pictures from album, -Enhance - Photomerge - Photomerge Exposure blurry result about a 1/4 "  off.
Any ideas other can cancel order.

That isn't HDR, just FYI. But it's always been better at merging a single photo exposed different ways than merging bracketed shots. If that was your main reason for purchasing PSE I would suggest that you cancel the order, if possible, and invest in a true HDR program instead.

  • Rearranging photos within an album PSE13

I need advice  on how to  re-sequence photos within an album. I'm using PSE 13.  Drag and drop doesn't work.  I also tried: right click on an album >edit album. This allows me to rearrange the photos in the right screen panel but the changes do not seem to be incorporated into the album itself after I check-off "OK".  Any help is appreciated.
    THX,
    Vinny

    Please select the album.
Now Choose Album Order in Sort By options.
You should be able to rearrange the photos in that album.

  • Synching photos from a select folder via iTunes on my Windows 7 PC

I copied many individual photos from different folders into a special folder on my desktop.  I synched up, clicked on "selected albums...", clicked on this special desktop folder, and then "Apply."  Only about 20 of 170 photos made it into my iPad however.  How can I transfer all the photos to my iPad?

This worked, thanks!  But now I have a new problem.  I carefully ordered the photos (by re-naming them, and then sorting them alphabetically by name in ascending order) so they would appear in the order that I liked, but the photos on the iPad are in a completely different order.  How do I fix that?  How does the iPad sequence photos?  Do I have to re-order the photos in the folder so they appear in the same order in the iPad?  If so, how?  Thanks

  • Stop Motion using photos + combining with video clips

We have about 3000 sequenced photos we want to put together into a Stop Motion video. We would also like to add an actual video clip to the beginning and to the end of the Stop Motiuon segment. Can this all be done in Premiere Pro? If so how? If not - what other Creative Cloud programs should we use and how?

  • WIN/Vista, PSE 7.0:  Organizer problems with dates

Im working with our scanned photos now, so there is no EXIF data and the only dates are the scanned date and any later corrections in Photoshop CS3 before or after importing into PSE 7.0. I now have two date related problems that I didnt have with PE 5.0.
    1) In the Organizer view, when I right click on the date to bring up the Adjust Date and Time screen, then click on Change to a specified date and time and click OK the day automatically changes to a day earlier, which has caused much confusion since all I am wanting to do is set a time to sequence photos from multiple cameras. How do I keep it from automatically changing the date?
    2) Also, Ive had multiple times that Ive changed the date on a couple of photos and PSE 7 will place them incorrectly so that they are non-chronological. Specifically I now have two photos from a string of many on Dec 24 & 25, and some on Dec 26 and after. These two photos belong on Dec 26 chronologically, as well as where they fit in my file naming system. If I change the date on these to 12/26/1976, though, they are placed in my 12/25/1976 photos, not 12/26 where they should be. I have another photo dated 1/17/1977 that PSE has placed between 1/16 and 1/9/1977.
I thought these were quirky enough that I actually removed and reinstalled PSE 7.0, but these issues are unchanged.
    FYI: Settings in Edit>Preferences:
General/Display Options/Date (Newest First): Show Newest First within Each Day is selected
Files/File Options: Use Last Modified Date if EXIF . . . is unchecked.

    > In the Organizer view, when I right click on the date to bring up the "Adjust Date and Time" screen, then click on "Change to a specified date and time" and click "OK" the day automatically changes to a day earlier, which has caused much confusion since all I am wanting to do is set a time to sequence photos from multiple cameras. When a photo has a date but unknown time, PSE 6 and 7 (and perhaps 5 too) behave this way. Its a bug thats been reported to Adobe.

When this happens, which view are you in? Display > Thumbnail View or Display > Folder Location view? Is this using Smart Albums to search by date? If this is still happening, can you upload a screen shot, the incorrect 12/26/1976 photo, and the adjacent 12/25/1976 photo? You can post these for free at www.pixentral.com. Ill take a look at their metadata.
There are a number of problems with time unknown, so Ive stopped using it:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.59b6aaa0
    In particular:
    - Search with date ranges doesnt properly handle time unknown.
    - Other tools, such as Vista Explorer, dont correctly handle dates with time unknown in metadata written by PSE.
    - If you have a series of slides youve scanned, you know their relative time ordering (due to the slide numbering) but not their absolute time. Theres no convenient way of preserving that ordering within PSE thumbnail view if you use time unknown.
So instead of unknown, I assign the times 12:00 AM, 12:05 AM, 12:10 AM, etc. (leaving gaps in case I need to insert another scan later).

  • Stop Motion

I am trying to create a movie with both video clips AND stop motion. I have searched and searched but i havent found a clear answer. I have already inserted all the video clips that I want for the intro. Now I just need to insert the stop motion part. HELP!

Do a search on how to manage Sequential Image files.
Basically ...Select All> Import>  multiple files and check  as sequence.
I would do it in AEFX and create a digital intermediate files.   Others wil have a different opion on that workflow.
Jim - if you lock a Post / THread..how about putting "Locked" in the Title.
That post also had the additional info asked for.

  • Problem with render

Hello I need your help very urgently , because I have to deliver today a movie that I'm doing in Premiere and i'm having some problems .
I have looked in another forums and can not find the solution to my problem .
I did a project and the timeline that has a graphic (square) on top of the actual image and see right before you render . The worst thing is that when I render the graphic logo loses definition . The square set no longer appears , appears a line around and ghost.
I Repeat, without the render or delete files render, the image appears to me excellent . This only happens after render.
Already activated the option "Render at maximium quality", but the problem continues.
How can I resolve this issue?
    Thank You
(Click on the images to see the diference)

    Thanks for your help.
I'll put here some examples. I hope it is enlightening however, my problem is in the render and not in sequence.
Is there any way to improve the quality with which the render is done?
    PHOTO 1)
Without Render. Square is perfect and how I want the final appearance.
    PHOTO 2)
After making Render, can already see in the next PHOTO that the square already less definition.
Phantom right and a risk above.
    PHOTO 3)
    This is my sequence
    PHOTO 4)
In the next Photo you can see my export settings.

In the next Photo you can see my sequece settings.
    Help me!
    Thanks for all

  • Re-Arranging Thumbnails In Adobe Elements 6 Organiser

    Hi folks,
Is there a way of re-arranging the order of thumbnails in my Adobe Elements 6 organiser. When I uploaded all of my images to the organiser, for some reason they did not come out in the exact order I had them within my "my pictures" file on my pc so I want to shuffle them around. I've tried to drag them out of position but that doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas if this is possible?
    Thanks
    Ian

    Ian,
Windows Explorer (which is probably what you used to look at the My Pictures folder) has a default sequence of File Name, whereas the Organizer primarily sequences photos based on date the photo was taken.
However, the Organizer does have a choice of viewing based on
    b Folder Location
which will use File Name sequence.
So you could use Folder Location view, but I suggest that you post a description of how you want to use these photos for which you intend to modify their sequence.
The PSE 6 Organizer has a function called an
    b Album
which can have whatever sequence you wish to establish by drag and drop. Whether that is the best choice for you will depend on your intended use.

  • AE CS3 not for PPC!!!

HI, i want hereby to express my disappointment about the performance of AE CS3 on PPC macs.
I have a Quad G5 (2,5Ghz) with 4.5 Gb RAM that worked very well with AE 7. Now that i use AE CS3, as soon as i render (even a simple comp with sequenced photos, it slows down the whole machine INCREDIBLY.... What's this Adobe? Am i the only one in this situation? Am i doing smthg wrong?
It really seems cs3 version was written for Intel and NOT for PPC. It's a bit of a scandalous issue, i think...
Can i get some fee back...?
    Thx
    Federico

Yes... right about the last Intel macs... that is kinda logical...Luckily they are faster than G5...!
About upgrading my hardware... well, sure, it's always the solution.. but that's what i find a bit rude, since my Quad hasn't 2 years yet... So, what's the solution: spend 3000 every 2 years...? + of course a new laptop as well, so a nice 6000 biennial...? hmm.. not in my financial possibilities...
Finally, i must say that i have the same G4 Pbook as mentionned above and CS3 runs quite ok, not killing my workflow... I have Leopard on it, Tiger on the Quad... maybe an issue... but still, the Quad works bloody well with AE 7... so, HW is ok... just not adapted to the new softwares... (or is it the opposite... :-) )
I rmber anyway the years i enjoyed pretty well my G4 MP 450Mhz between 2000 and 2004... The good old times, when Apple was doing a lot for pros and quite less for the whole family and pets...
Of course, don't take me wrong, i love the macs, own 3, advise them all the time, teach all their majors softwares... and surely will even buy a iPhone when 3g...
    thx for the answers anyway!

  • To Revel or not to Revel?

I do not have any Apple or mobility products either although I was very happy with Photoshop.com using it on a Class Reunion site by publishing/sharing the Flash application directly on the website.  With Revel in Windows there seems very little options for customization.  I can only sort photos by newest & oldest.  I cannot even drag and drop to re-sequence photos and no album source codes.  Some Windows users like me seem to be really left out in the cold.  Why can't Adobe continue with and utilize the very good Photoshop.com software, or sell the site to some other third party?

I realize that the browser version of Revel is lagging behind the Mac and Iphone/Ipad version and that the PC users are frustrated.I also realize that Revel does not do everything that you may have done previously in Photoshop.com.  I can just hope that as we add features and enhancments moving forward, that we are able to make the product what you wish it to be and that you will enjoy using it.  There have been many suggestions  on ways to sort and share photos in Revel. Product management is reviewing all those requests as as they create the roadmap of new features to come.
    Stay tuned!
