Sequencing podcast entries

Greetings all-
Is there a way to re-order podcast entries? I am creating a sequence of podcasts in iWeb. Having created them in random order and wishing to publish them in a particular sequence, I am unable to discover a way to re-order them.
Is there a remedy for this?

If your go to the Entries page, where you can add an episode or delete an episode, just go down the list to an old episode and click its date. That brings up a little window that allows you to change the date to anything you want.
So do that for each episode that is not in the order you want. Then publish.
I think that should square you away.

IWeb 08 external links correct on podcast entries, however wrong on index

Hope the title makes sense; Basically the podcast entries we create have an external link to some referenced sites and they work fine when looking at that podcast entry, HOWEVER the auto generated index page (listing all the podcast entries) shows a preview of the text of the Podcast and we've noticed that the SAME external links are altered, forward slashes are replaced with %253 and spaces with %25220 (I can understand spaces being replaced with %20! but NOT this)
This only happens with EXTERNAL links. You can see it on the Index page BEFORE you even upload the site. So clearly something is odd in iWeb 08 and not specific to using .MAC or an external host.
Is anyone else seeing this? We recreated the Podcast from scratch to ensure no iWeb 06 bad info was present.
This just tops it off... The LACK OF NOTIFICATION on sites URL's being moved due to folder name changes and now this. iWeb 08 needs some attention ASAP. Is there a clean way to back rev to iWeb06 (can you keep both installed at the same time?)

I'm having the exact same issue, not necessarily with podcasts, just that any external link works fine except in the rss feed, where characters are replaced with %xxx and return 404 errors.

Deleting Podcast Entries - A missing feature

I understand that you can delete a podcast entry. However I hate the way it permenantly masks the entry, so there is no way to download it again, other than removing the complete podcast and re-subscribing.
A problem with this method arises when you have a whole bunch of episodes in a podcast already downloaded.. When you remove the podcast but keep the files intact, iTunes just ignores them when you re-subscribe and everything is greyed out. Clicking "get" at this point just makes iTunes download a duplicate file.
A feature that is really missing from iTunes is the ablity to "unmask" the deleted episodes. So they can be re-downloaded. It's not really iTunes' fault per-se. Pretty much every rss reader and podcasting application does it the exact same way, but it really needs to change, and I'd love to see iTunes lead the way.
Maybe the "get" button to the right of the entry could change to a "remove" button. When pressed, the actual file would be removed, but the entry would remain intact and the button would change back to "get".
I don't know exactly. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants this feature badly. I'm running out of diskspace keeping every podcast on my machine, but I don't want to delete them from iTunes, incase I want to download them again. I've resorted to just deleting the file from my computer and ignoring the "!" error beside the file.

Remove variable from "Sequence of entry variables"

Hi All,
I removed a characteristic from the "free characteristic section", this characteristic has the following variable defined:
-Type of variable: Characteristic value
-Processing by: User Entry/Default Value
-Variable represents: Selection option
-Variable entry is: Optional
"Ready for input" and "Can be changed in qry navigation" are both checked.
From my understanding when you remove a characteristic from the query definition, the variables will be removed as well (please correct me if I'm wrong).
In this case the input variable remains in the "Sequence of entry variables" list on the "Generic" tab of the query properties.
I would like to remove the variable from the entry screen.
Any suggestions?

The decision is to modify (or delete) the variable which has an impact on all RFK's also if used in other queries build on this infoprovider.

Adding a new podcast entries page in iweb

I am sure this is basic stuff, but it is escaping me. I built an iweb site (published in Mobile Me). I added a video podcast page then added the first video podcast entry. All went well. I want to add another video podcast entry and this is where I get lost. I assumed that I could duplicate the first entry page I created, edit it and add the new video podcast and publish. I am unable to duplicate the page. I have a rather highly customized page and really do not want to recreate it from scratch. Maybe I do not need a podcast page and I should just use a movie page, though I did want subscribe feature. The feed URL you give redirects to http://kaufmak.wordpress.com/category/podcasts/feed/ which is the URL being used by iTunes. This feed has only the one episode in it, that of 15 February, and that shows in the Store and when subscribing.
You are creating your feed in Wordpress: so if you have added an episode there you haven't taken whatever steps are necessary to get it into the feed - I'm afraid I can't advise on WordPress. You can only edit description and other data in WordPress; Chrome will allow you to examine the feed but not edit it.

Podcast entries

Hi, I'm a student from Ecuador, please i'm interesting in show the podcast entries from the blog page of my groups in a new page create for me, but i don't know how show the new post because when somebody create a new entry, this isn't reflect in my page, so, i can't show the changes in my page like in the blog page....my page don't create the code html of the new entry, isn't dinamic...please helpme...

Having the same issue... Links to podcast from published site (http://web.me.com/cornerstonedm/CCC/Podcast/Podcast.html) do not work. All links from the above page or archive page (http://web.me.com/cornerstonedm/CCC/Podcast/Archive.html) end in "...Podcast/$link$" instead of episode, and dead ends at "We're Sorry" page.

Video Podcast entries keep uploading wrong video from Media Browser

This started about a week ago. I have iLife 08 that I am using iMovie and iWeb for a video podcast page, for which there are at least a dozen videos up. Last week I created a couple of video projects and shared them with the Media Browser. But now, every video entry I create is the first of the two videos I made in iLife, let's call it "Video 1". Now I am four videos later. When I export to my local disk, the correct videos load, but when I upload to Mobile Me, all of the entries since Video 1 was created show Video 1. I even deleted the video projects from iMovie.
Is there some sort of way to refresh the cache on the Media Browser, or has anyone else had this issue?

Still not working. I have to "Publish All To MobileMe" for it to work. It has something to do with how iMovie exports. For some reason all the files exported have the filename SIZESELECTION-INDEXNUMBER, so all of my movies are named medium, medium-1, medium-2, medium-3 and after the last patch was installed, all new pages only look at "medium" and ignore the number added at the end.
But again, I don't have this problem with I publish to a local folder.

It is impossible to delete entire podcast from library in iTunes 11. Right clicking a podcast entry do not give option to remove the podcast. I more and more dislike this new iTunes look. [NOT SOLVED]

there is no way to delete a podcast (not an episode, but entire podcast, and not entire podcast library) from the library.

I have discovered that problem #2 is because I no longer get a column of "check boxes" allowing me to check certain songs. I get it in the library view but not in the CD view, which is where I need it. Don't see a setting in preferences for this. Would solve a lot of problems if I could get a column of check marks.

Podcast failed to download, can't delete podcast entry

I tried to download podcasts, but they failed, but the titles are still in download area. How to delete these files?

How can audio files show up in a smart playlist but not be listed under music or podcast?
No idea. They must be somewhere in the library, otherwise they would not appear in (Smart) playlists.
Is there any way to delete them from the library?
Select the file(s) in the playlist, hold the Option key, then press Delete.
This will normally remove the file from both the playlist and the library.

Library Copies and Podcast Entries and Files

I had two iTunes Library directories on separate volumes with identical sets of files. I followed the directions about "Using multiple iTunes libraries" from iTunes help without realizing there is also a Preferences setting for the iTunes Library location. When I looked at the second iTune library through iTunes after switching to it. I had no list of Podcasts and the Podcast files were not visible. When I re-subscribed to one Podcast and downloaded the files, I got duplicate copies of the files in its folder under Podcasts in the iTunes Library. Why does this happen? Is there a recovery path so I can use the previously downloaded Podcast files and Podcast settings?

Are you saying you split your profile between C and D drive, perhaps through specifying a location in the account settings.
BTW.
*.mozmsgs useless duplicate files created for windows search integration. Simply wasted space on the disk.

How do I make a process model sequence (not entry point) available to the test sequence?

I have sequences that update process model data in the process model sequence that I would like to make public so that I can call this sequence from the test sequence.
I am using TS2.
I know that I could insert a sequence call and when specifying the module simply select the process model sequence file. Is there a more direct way of specifying the process model sequence file? When creating a custom step type, you can check "Designate an adapter", and use the Sequence Call adapter. If you would like to make the user unable to change this property, you can disable the "Can Specify Module" property on the "Disable Properties" page.
Warning: If you ever want to change the parameters or the sequence call you are making for all steps, you must load ALL of the sequences that use this step, check the "apply changes in this dialog to all loaded steps of this type" box when you make the changes. This means that you should be very careful to make sure you have your step type designed properly before you begin using instances of it. The reason this is the case, is that the module is a property for each instance of the step, rather than the step type. We are simply giving a default value. By disabling the specify module dialog, we are preventing the user from being able to change from the default.

How to create a Download button in podcast entry

I've created a site with multiple podcast. I created the podcast by just dragging and dropping mp3 files to the image placeholder. This seems to work fine. Now I'm trying to add a download link for each podcast in the Archive page. The idea is that site visitors can choose to download the mp3 file rather than use quicktime to hear it from my site. How do I do this?
Also I've tried to put a download link in each podcast page. I'm having difficulty getting this done as well. Any ideas would be appreciated.

This might help since I did something similar. If you understand where your podcast is stored on your iDisk, then you can link to that file by telling iWeb that it is an external link. Then your visitors can control-click or right-click the link and from the popup menu choose to download the linked file.
The trick is finding the right web address for the mp3 file. I can get you started if you can't figure out the url.

Podcast Entry Page Not Displaying

Hi There,
I have a music podcast where I upload DJ mixes, the file sizes are quite large and I think it may be the cause of this problem. Basically, when you go to the podcast listing page it all looks fine, but when you click the 'more' link next to each listing the page does not load properly, seems like the browser is trying to cache an 80mb audio file before loading the text on the page. Can anyone help me get around this?

How do I post an html snippet of a video as a podcast entry?

On my podcast page, I've put up an html snippet to a movie that streams from Blip. It works on the website page, but it doesn't register as a podcast episode.
Is dragging and dropping a movie onto the placeholder the only way for something to register as an episode? Or is their some way around this? Thanks a lot!

Hi Jason,
Sorry I guess that's not possible also because an HTML Snippet what it does is create a new page where it adds the code you enter in the snippet to and then embed this new page into the page you added the Snippet to. Thus the code isn't on the page you added the snippet to. And you have to add the file directly into the placeholder.

How to change sequence of variable entries in a WebTemplate?

I have a WebTemplate with 2 dataproviders (queries). One query has following order of variables set in query properties (using query designer):

Second query does not have A variable, and has following order of variables:

What I am getting when run the webtemplate is:

when I am actually interested in

Can anybody help <b>to setup the variables sequence in the webtemplate</b>?
I am on BW 3.0B, WAD 3.0B Patch 6.

I think we can maintain the order of selection variable at the Bex Query Level in the properties Window of Querry ( Sequence of Entry Variables) and the same will appear in Web.
