Sequencing the IBM iSeries Access Client 7.1

Hey All,
I was wondering if anybody has experience in sequencing the IBM iSeries Access Client 7.1...
We're currently trying to sequence this application under Windows 7 Enterprise (x86) with the App-V4.6 SP1 Sequencer. We've checked the Windows 7 compatibility of this version and it is supported. Every function of the application is working during the monitoring
phase of the sequence process. The main function we're (currently) interested in is the Emulator with the SSL encryption to our AS400 mainframe. This function requires the SSL-option to be installed. We've installed this with the rest of the application during
our sequencing and during the monitoring phase, we're able to connect to the mainframe.
However, when we transfer the finished sequence to a test system, the Emulator pops up with an error message "SSL option is not installed". After some repackaging and investigation, we've managed to eliminate all the file exclusion that occured during our
sequencing process. This includes a lot of "dirt" into the sequence but at least gave us the confidence that everything that was installed by the setup was also included in the Sequence. We've also excluded the Windows CA store as one of the possible causes.
The IBM iSeries Access Client uses it's own SSL encryption methods.
My question to you all is. Has anyone ever succesfully packaged the IBM iSeries Access Client V7R1 on Windows 7 Enterprise and has anyone encountered/solved the issue we're currently facing?
Thanks in advance for your time and effort!

The option installs the ability to use encrypted connections to your AS400 mainframes. The IBM client installs an extra program in %CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%\ibm\gsk7.
Unfortunately there's no exclusion in the Sequence that would point to anything crucial. The IBM client creates a folder in the "My Documents" folder which is (ofcourse) excluded from the Sequence. Other then that only the following is excluded:
<MOREINFO DESCRIPTION="The unsupported shell extensions detected are as follows:">
<ITEM DESCRIPTION="HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\AS400System\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers"/>
<ITEM DESCRIPTION="HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\AS400System\ShellEx\PropertySheetHandlers"/>
<ITEM DESCRIPTION="HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Drive\ShellEx\DragDropHandlers"/>
<ITEM DESCRIPTION="HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Printers\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers"/>
But in my oppinion this should not be something that will block the functions of the application itself (since this is drag/drop handler for the seperate file transfer client...)..
But correct me if i'm wrong ofc.

  • BizTalk Administration Console problem after installing IBM iSeries Access

    Hi,
    We have a Biztalk Server 2010 environment on Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL server on separate machine.
    After installing IBM iSeries Access we get errors in Biztalk Administration Console, especially the Host Instance and Adapter information cannot be loaded.
    Except for the errors in Adminsitration Console, the Biztalk installation seems to be working fine, so the integration processes doesn't seem to be affected.
    We get the following error:
    BizTalk Server cannot access SQL server.  This could be due to one of the following reasons:
    1. Access permissions have been denied to the current user.  Either log on as a user that has been granted permissions to SQL and try again, or grant the current user permission to access SQL Server.
    2. The SQL Server does not exist or an invalid database name has been specified.  Check the name entered for the SQL Server and database to make sure they are correct as provided during SQL Server installation.
    3. The SQL Server exists, but is not currently running.  Use the Windows Service Control Manager or SQL Enterprise Manager to start SQL Server, and try again.
    4. A SQL database file with the same name as the specified database already exists in the Microsoft SQL Server data folder.
    Internal error from OLEDB provider: "The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception." (WinMgmt)
    I tried to uninstall the IBM iSeries Access, but the problem remains.

    Hi and thanks for your help!
    The machine.config did it :)
    According to this link there is a known issue with the IBM iSeries Access installation which removes the proper permissions from the machine.config and therefore Biztalk Administration Console stops working correctly.

  • Customizing Oracle Web Access Client password change

    We need to turn off the built in Password Change feature in the Oracle Web Access Client of Collaboration Suite or, an even better option, redirect it to our custom built change password application. It appears in the client under Preferences in the same pop-up window as General and Time Zone. We've been poking around in the file structure and trying to find what renders this page. Can anyone offer any help?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    You can't do that in WAC but in the Webmail interface > Preferences > Account > Folders you can set this for Oracle Mail.
    Hope it helps.

  • Error Message when logging on "The Group Policy Client service failed the logon. Access is denied"

    Since the move to Windows 7 we have started getting this error above when people login at random times and on random machines, at first we thought it was only a select few users, but now it seems to have occurred to about 20 different Staff members working
    at the school. Also of those 20 odd users it has happened to them on a few occasions.
    What we know
    We know this problem is only occurring to staff with Roaming Profiles, it seems like somehow the profile is not Synchronizing with the Servers File Share that houses the profiles, which causes the NTUSER.DAT file to become corrupt and go from being around
    2 – 3 MBs to 256KB (In all cases where a user has had this issue there NTUSER.DAT file has been 256KB)
    Current Resolution to the problem
    When a staff member contact us with this problem, we fortunately have Previous Versions working on the profiles folder on the server, so we are able to restore their NTUSER.DAT file from 1 to 2 days before it became corrupt, which then seems to allow them
    to log on fine
    What we have tried so far & suggested so far
    After some research on Google, we found the following thread on EduGeek
    http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/78733-windows-7-user-profile-failed-error-again.html#post700415
    Which suggested that the problem may lay within registry, so we implemented the Script that was posted on the website, however this has not seemed to make any difference
    In the early stages when only 5 – 10 staff seemed to be having the problem, we believed the issue could be with just certain AD accounts. It had not seemed to happen to any recently created AD accounts so we thought it could be a corrupt attribute on
    the user so we delete one of the staff AD accounts that had the problem and creating a brand new one, however within about 2 – 3 weeks that staff member had the issue occur again
    Leading on from point two, we also thought the problem could be with people using multiple computers, logging on in 2 places and not logging off properly, but unfortunately the staff member referred to in point 2 only uses the one computer in reception.
    Another potential cause that we figured might be the route of the problem, was it could be specific computers that are not communicating properly with the server, which could be causing this problem to occur, but we have no real way of testing this,
    as the staff generally log onto 3 – 4 different computers throughout the day and in different location
    We log a call with EE and they just pointed us to various websites that we had already checked and wasn’t much help.
    In Summary
    This error has now occurred with about 20 members of staff, we currently only use Windows 7 at our Senior School & Moving to Windows 7 at our Prep School in the Summer
    holidays, we would like to find out the route of this problem ideally before then, as we could potentially be doubling the amount of staff with the problem after the move. Has anyone else seen this problem or have a brain wave on how to solve it?
    Regards
    Andy

    Hi Dudleya,
    First of all ,I would suggest to check the permissions of the NTUSER.DAT registry hive .Here is a link for reference :

  • Base for slection of  the fields in access sequence.

    Hi Experts ,
    In pricing procedure  I want to know what is the base used  for selecting the fields in access sequence.
    What are the situation in which there will be different fields in pricing procedure ?
    Thanks,
    Kiran
    Edited by: KiranCG on May 11, 2011 2:38 PM

    the base for selecting fields to be used in an access sequence is how the business wants to define their prices.
    this can be just a fix price for a material number
    and a surcharge (or maybe rebate) per product group
    and a freight charge based on Incoterms plant  and destination country combination
    any of these examples would have different fields

  • Windows Server 2012 - Direct Access clients and the Windows 8 firewall

    Hi,
    We're running a simple proof-of-concept for Server 2012 Direct Access, we have a single DA server behind a firewall using NAT. We have a number of client devices setup for DA and running Windows 8.
    Our issue is that we can only get the Windows 8 direct access clients to connect (when outside the corporate network) and work with the windows firewall disabled (public network profile).
    With the windows firewall disabled everything works exactly as expected. When outside the corporate network the client detects the network state (public network profile), connects via DA and all internal resources can be accessed successfully...fantastic.
    Is there some specific guidance on manually configuring the windows 8 firewall for Direct Access ? We've tried the obvious TCP:443 with edge traversal enabled but without success.
    Much of the information we have found relates to UAG rather than Windows 2012 DA.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

    Hi,
    There isn’t any specific configuration on the firewall.
    Just confirm that port 443 can be forwarded to DirectAccess server.
    Of course, make sure you are using IPsec first.

    I have looked up the errors on Oracle forums and could not get any valuable help anywhere.
    Can someone kindly help out where I am going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hello kgronau,
    Thank You very much for your recommendations.  I removed the parameter HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 255.
    I added HS_FDS_FETCH_ROWS=1 and also HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
    Tested my sql statement, which yielded the result as follows:
    SQL> select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
    select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    ㈵″㠵6
    SO I thought I would give a try of removing the line HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
    and again tested my sql statement and it worked like a charm!!!!
    I tested a count(*) and got the results back.
    SQL> select count(*) from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
      COUNT(*)
           600
    I really appreciate your valuable pointers and help.
    Thanks once again!!!
    Ram.

  • Windows Server 2012R2 kerberos authetication failure with IBM iSeries

    Hi all,
    I've an IBM iSeries in my environment configured to use kerberos authentication, this type of SSO works fine from 2 years. Every client Windows 7 or Windows 8 works fine.
    Now I'm planning to deploy Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012R2.
    I've made a lot of attempts:
    Windows 2012 -> works
    Windows 8 -> works
    Windows 2012R2 -> does not works
    Windows 8.1 -> does not works
    All the server and workstation involved in thees attempts belong to the same OU and the same user are utilized.
    It seems clear to me that Windows 8.1 / 2012R2 has a different behaviour with kerberos authentication but I don't found anything on the technet.
    Please note that all DC are Windows server 2008R2 by two years.

    Hi, any news for your problem ?
    This setup should work ok.. Any firewall running on the 2012R2 or 8.1 ? did you checked the security log on the DC to see why the ticket was refused ? etc..

  • Routing Issue for Remote Access Clients over Site to Site VPN tunnels

    I have a customer that told me that Cisco has an issue when a customer has a topology of let's say 3 sites that have site to site tunnels built and a Remote Access client connects to site A and needs resources at Site B but the PIX won't route to that site. Has this been fixed in the ASA?

    Patrick, that was indeed true for a long time.
    But now it is fixed in PIX and ASA version 7.x.
    Please refer to this document for details:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a008046f307.shtml

  • Maintain access to network(shared folders) resources if the site loses access to a Domain Controller?

    Scenario
    Windows 7 users log on to workstations at a site. Domain Controller is up and does the domain authentication for those users across the WAN. Users are then accessing a local(same building) Shared directory on a Windows 2008r2 server, in order to open, modify,
    save new files, etc.
    Then, the site loses access to the Domain Controller due to a WAN outage.
    Question
    Will those users that have already logged onto their Windows 7 workstations continue to have access to the shared resources on the local Windows 2008r2 server with their cached credentials(assuming they don't logoff or restart their machines)?? This has
    been the case in the past, but wondering if anything has changed with Windows 2008??
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The duration that you can access the server depends on when the server requires re-authentication.
    In Windows implementation, SMB session expiration is enforced based upon the client’s support of dynamic re-authentication capability [MS-SMB].
    If the client enables the CAP_DYNAMIC_REAUTH capability bit, the server will enforce session expiration. If a client does not set CAP_DYNAMIC_REAUTH, the Windows server does not return STATUS_NETWORK_SESSION_EXPIRED.
    The SMB dynamic re-authentication feature was introduced in Windows XP. From there, Windows-based clients set the CAP_DYNAMIC_REAUTH capability bit to indicate to the server that the client supports re-authentication when the Kerberos service ticket for
    the session expires.
    Windows servers do check CAP_DYNAMIC_REAUTH:
    If clientCapabilities sets CAP_DYNAMIC_REAUTH, the server will set Server. Session.AuthenticationExpirationTime to the expiry time returned by AcceptSecuirtyContext.
    If clientCapabilities does not set CAP_DYNAMIC_REAUTH, the server will not set Server. Session.AuthenticationExpirationTime, basically a CAP_DYNAMIC_REAUTH capability bit not set by the client means the session will not expire on the server side.
    To configure Maximum lifetime for service ticket, you can use grouppolicy. The default value of
    Maximum lifetime for service ticket
    in Default Domain Policy is 600 minutes.
    Note:This setting is applied to DC, not clients.

  • How do I change the URL to the Remote Web Access server in Windows Server 2012?

    Hallo!
    I have set up a Remote Dexktop Service using the "Quick" deployment method in Server Manager and everything is working greate internally, but I cannot start an app published in Remote Web Access from outside our network.
    The problem is that it wants to start the using the internal URL, for example, server.domain.local, instead of the external one, for example remote.server.com.
    I therefore want to know how I can change the default URL for the Remote Web Access server and all the Remote Web Apps in Windows Server 2012?
    I have allready looked in Server Manager and I can change some of the deployment settings in server manager, but there is no way to alter the URL of the Remote Web Access server. See below images:
    Pressing the internal URL only results in opening the internal URL.
    This was very simple to do in Windows Server 2008 R2 using the tsconfig tool, but it does not seam to be any way of solving this in server manager.
    A possible sollution would be to alter the registry someware in HKLM->Software->Microsoft->Windows NT->Terminal Services. But this can easaly lead to problems due to wrong format, etc. and is probably not supported.
    Is there a simpler and supported way?

    That option can be used to connect to any machine that you want.  The error message indicates that the client machine cannot resolve the name "server.domain.local" to an IP address that it can connect to.
    You have several options for configuring that tab on the RDweb site.  You can even remove it entirely.
    Customization of RD Web Site
    RD Web provides a number of customization options for the RD Web interface, including the ability to control default Gateway server settings and redirection settings. These settings
    are controlled by editing the web.config file located in %SYSTEMROOT%\Web\RDWeb\Pages.
    Displaying Local Help
    To display local help for users instead of the web-based help, edit the LocalHelp value and change the value from false to true.
    <!-- LocalHelp: Displays local help for users, instead of the web-based help. Value must be "true" or "false" -->
    <add key="LocalHelp" value="false" />
    When this value is changed, a user that clicks on Help in the upper right corner of the RD Web login page will open the local help file instead of web-based help.
    Hiding the Connect to a Remote PC Tab
    The RDWeb page
    Connect to a Remote PC tab can be hidden from users to prevent connections to any servers through RD Web other than the servers configured in a collection. By default, this setting is set to true and the
    Remote Desktops tab is displayed. To hide the tab, set the value to false.
    <!-- ShowDesktops: Displays or hides the Remote Desktops tab. Value must be "true" or "false" -->
    <add key="ShowDesktops" value="true" />
    When the value is set to false, a user will not see the Connect to a Remote PC tab when logged on to the RD Web page
    RD Gateway Settings
    If the Connect to a Remote PC tab is enabled, an administrator can configure RD Web to use a Gateway server when connecting to remote computers. To specify a gateway, edit the below
    value with the name of the RD Gateway server:
    <!-- DefaultTSGateway: Admin can preset this to a given Gateway name, or set to "" for no gateway. -->
    <add key="DefaultTSGateway" value="" />
    The default authentication method for the RD Gateway server can also be configured by editing the following section of the web.config:
    <!-- GatewayCredentialsSource: TS Gateway Authentication Type.
    Admins can preset this.
    0 = User Password
    1 = Smartcard
    4 = "Ask me later"
    -->
    <add key="GatewayCredentialsSource" value="0" />
    Devices and Resources
    By default, only Printers and Clipboard are redirected on connections made using the Connect to a Remote PC tab. If the user clicks the
    Options << button, the redirection settings for a specific connection can be modified
    To configure each specified redirection option to be enabled or disabled by default, edit the following section in the web.config file:
    <!-- Devices and resources: Preset the Checkbox values to either true or false -->
    <add key="xPrinterRedirection" value="true" />
    <add key="xClipboard" value="true" />
    <add key="xDriveRedirection" value="false" />
    <add key="xPnPRedirection" value="false" />
    <add key="xPortRedirection" value="false" />
    LAN Experience Defaults
    Windows Server 2012 RD Web Access can display a new user selectable option for optimizing the connection for a LAN experience. This option is displayed at the bottom of the RD Web
    page and can be controlled by the administrator using the following section of the web.config file:
    <!--  Checkbox to opt for optimized LAN experience -->
    <add key="ShowOptimizeExperience" value="false" />
    <add key="OptimizeExperienceState" value="false" />
    This value is set to false by default, but when changed to true, the following checkbox will display at the bottom of the webpage. The LAN experience
    checkbox can also be set as enabled by default.
    Each setting can also be modified using the IIS Manager user interface:

    Hi guys!
    I'm facing this problem:
    When my .Net application tries to access the DB, I get this error message above.
    The application is into the same machine of DB and the operational system is Windows Server Enterprise 64 bits.
    I'm comparing to another machine that has the same scenario but runs in Windows Vista 64 bits. This problem doesn't happen and I can normally access the DB.

    What should I check and do to solve this problems?
    Thanks for help,

    Hi,
    Often the error "The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client" is raised when the unmanaged dll OraOpsX.dll can't be found, can't be loaded, or is the wrong version. For version 10.2.0.x of ODP.NET and .NET Framework 2.x the file should be called "OraOps10w.dll" and should be found in the %ORACLE_HOME%\bin directory.
    Since the ODAC pieces are installed on the same host as the database, are they in a separate Oracle Home or the same Oracle Home as the database software? If there are multiple Oracle Home directories, which one is in the system path first?
    I would start with verifying the version of OraOps10w.dll and the system path on the server. You might also confirm that the Oracle Home directory (and everything under it) has the following permissions for Authenticated Users:
    - Read & Execute
    - List folder contents
    - Read

  • Not able to get the ObjectInputStream in my client across firewall

    HI,
    I have my application running on Oracle 10g server.I have a servlet which converts a pdf file to stream and writes it to outputstream
    // the code in the server is as below
    String location = stRealPath + "\\" + pdfloc;
    byte[] returnData = null;
    returnData = (byte[])pdfGenerateBean.getGeneratedPDFStream(hashData); // this method returns the byte array of the file
    outStream.writeObject(returnData);
    On my client I have a java class which reads this stream and creates a pdf file
    // the client code is as below
    InputStream inPdf = msg.sendPostMessage(hashPDF);
    ObjectInputStream returnPdf = new ObjectInputStream(inPdf);
    inPdf = null;
    byte[] pdfStream = (byte[])returnPdf.readObject(); --------getting error here
    File f = new File(".");
    FileOutputStream out = null;
    String loadDirectory = f.getAbsolutePath();
    pdfFile = loadDirectory + pdfFilename;
    out = new FileOutputStream(pdfFile);
    out.write(pdfStream);
    out.flush();
    out.close();
    // this is working fine acroos my network and i am getting the stream on my client outside my firewall.But when a client of mine accesses it from inside his firewall, he is getting this exception.
    java.io.EOFException
         at java.io.DataInputStream.readFully(Unknown Source)
         at java.io.ObjectInputStream.readFully(Unknown Source)
         at java.io.DataInputStream.readObject(Unknown Source)
    How could the problem be? Is there any setting in the firewall due to which the Stream is not available.Or do i have to send data in any other format.
    Thanks in advance
    Navin

    That's odd because firewalls usually let outbound requests pass through. My last-ditch firewall workaround is to use port 443. Once you have connected, it cannot know what is being transmitted, so it will sometimes let payloads through that are blocked on other ports.
