Serial Access to 2450 controller

Hello,
I am trying to configure a SUN STK 2540 disk array. I have CAM 6.2.0.13 installed on a Solaris 10 server. And I can't get the bugger to register under CAM.
I have tried tip'ing via the serial port but can't figure out the proper key sequence to send a BREAK signal. Also I have configured a spare interface on the server to 192.168.128.100 and attached a cross over cable directly to the controller's interface port. I get no response when I ping 192.168.128.101 or 102.
Questions:
1) What is the proper sequence to access the controllers via the serial port?
2) What can I be doing wrong that the controllers (either) won't register in CAM?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Both controllers have to respond to the ping. If you still have problems at this time, you can read through the Sunsolve document 211394.

  • NI Serial Port / Eurotherm Temperature Controller

NI Serial Port / Eurotherm Temperature Controller
I am using a N.I. AT 232/4 board with four additional N.I. serial ports. First of all, after installing Windows NT (before I was using Windows 98) the NI Serial Port Diagnostics Program was not able to detect any of the ports even though the ports are correctly installed within Windows. When I was still using Windows 98 the NI Serial Port Diagnostics Program was able to detect all the four ports. Is it necessary that the diagnostics program detects the ports in order to use them with Lab View? I have also two regular Serial ports, which have never been detected by the diagnostics program, but I should still be able to use them with Lab view as well? D
oes the NI Serial Port Diagnostics Program not function with Windows NT? Do you have an update version for Windows NT?
Im trying to control a Eurotherm 2416 and 903 Temperature Controller with two serial ports. Unfortunately, Eurotherm does not give support anymore about Lab View drivers for their Controllers, since they have developed their own Automation Program (iTools) now. I still want to control the Eurotherm Controller with Lab View via the serial port. Do you still have the driver VIs for the 2416 and 903? It would be nice if you could send me the Eurotherm divers also along with some documentation.
There is already a question posted about Eurotherm Controller (Eurotherm Temperature Controller not Functioning with NI Serial Board). It is probably a similar problem unfortunately the solution did not bring the right success. Therefore, I would like to ask you to specify the so-called 4-Wire mode.
Thank You very much for Your help!
    Sincerely,
    Benjamin Thoma

NI-Serial 1.45 does not install correctly on Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition. The driver (serial.sys), configuration utility (niports.cpl), and inf file (niserial.inf) are installed incorrectly to the user profiles directory.
A workaround is to copy the files to the right folders which is detailed shortly.
Definition: "%windows%" refers to the operating system folder. Note: The default operating system folder for this version of Windows is "Wtsrv".
    serial.sys - %windows%\system32\drivers
    niports.cpl - %windows%\system32
    niserial.inf - %windows%\inf
Note: "niserial.inf" does not need to be copied unless an AT card is being used.
The above files can either be obtained from the installation CD in the WinNT folder or from the hard-disk locations that they were
incorrectly installed to which are detailed shortly. Note: Leaving the incorrectly installed files where they are will not harm the system. Definition: "%userid%" refers to the ID that was used when logging in to Windows.
    serial.sys - %windows%\Profiles\%userid%\Windows\system32\drivers
    niports.cpl - %windows%\Profiles\%userid%\Windows\system32
    niserial.inf - %windows%\Profiles\%userid%\Windows\inf
For the newly copied driver to take effect the system must be rebooted.
As for the instrument drivers, you can search our instrument driver site to try to find them. Go to "other driver resources" at the link below.

  • Intel 82801EB Serial Ultra ATA Storage controller?

    Reworded
Bought a new HD. Seagate 80 Gb SATA.
    Installed OK Setup Bios OK
Copied OS to new Drive OK
Selected new drive to boot to OK
Started windows and new hardware found. Not OK
The hardware found was "Intel 82801EB Serial Ultra ATA storage controller".
Driver found in WinNt / inf folder
Comes up with an installation error everytime  "Data Invalid".
It seems to running on a std IDE controller, however I get the new hardware message everytime I boot.
Feels like something set in bios is not recognised by OS or driver is corrupt.
    Any clues
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for that
Checked everything as suggested on the doco. I cannot see anything obvious. I would appear that windows see's it as a SERIAL ATA controller. However, I cannot find anything on Intel's site that refers to a "Intel 82801EB Serial Ultra ATA storage controller".

  • Serialized access for package compilation

    hi all,
Especially for development environments i strongly need a concurrency mechanism for package, procedure, function, trigger compilation. I want to lock package, so that no one else can compile while i hold that lock. This will provide serialized access.
Mostly developers use same database user for development, so grant will not do what i want. I assume there has to be a custom solution, ie using dbms_lock.
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Design question: Access points and controller Logical/Physical placement

    Background:
We have an MPLS (layer 3) network 4 offices and a Datacenter:
We are planning to install about 10 Access Points(3600 series) per office and have a controller(5508 series) in the Datacenter.
    Questions:
1- Is this design possible, in other words, just one controller centralizing all Access point traffic in one controller in the Datacenter?
2- We would like to accomplish this in two phases:
A- install access points without controller handling authentication thru microsoft IAS servers (current configuration with 1200 series)
B- Deploy wireless Controller in Datacenter and start migrating orphan APs to Controllers one office at a time
I'll appreciate any advice , comments and suggestions to the the outlined plan/design
    Thanks
    Juan

1- Is this design possible, in other words, just one controller centralizing all Access point traffic in one controller in the Datacenter?
Yes... depending on the bandwidth you can either have the APs in local mode which tunnels all traffic back to the WLC or you configure the AP's in FlexConnect and place the traffic locally in each site.
2- We would like to accomplish this in two phases:
A- install access points without controller handling authentication thru microsoft IAS servers (current configuration with 1200 series)
B- Deploy wireless Controller in Datacenter and start migrating orphan APs to Controllers one office at a time
I don't know what you are trying to accomplish here, but if you are running new cables and replacing all the AP's, you should bring up the WLC in the DC and connect all the AP's but leave the AP as admin down until your ready to cutover.  You can still use the IAS server for radius, just need to create a AAA client on the IAS for the WLC.

  • 8500 Controller - No Serial Access

I am prestaging a 8500 series wireless controller and am having problems getting connected to it. I apply power and connect my serial connector to the serial port at the back - i see nothing on my putty session. I have connected VGA so can see the box boots, it gets to
    "Decompressing Linux......done.
    Booting the kernel."
No messages appear after this. From the install guide i can see that using the serial connection is the proper approach, but i have absolutely nada appearing on screen. I've checked serial cable with another box, seems ok - only difference is the gender changer i am using on the 8500, but this is brand new.
Am i doing something completely stupid??

I don't believe it will work converting that way.  You will require the following:
    http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/Tripp-Lite-DB9F-RJ45-Modular-Serial-Adapter-Ethernet-to-Console-Server/1787786.aspx?cm_mmc=ShoppingFeeds-_-GoogleBase-_-Cables/Network%20Cables-_-1787786_Tripp%20Lite%20DB9F%20-%20RJ45%20Modular%20Serial%20Adapter%20Ethernet%20to%20Console%20Server_TRI-B090-A9F
Then you should have no issues getting into the console normally.

  • Anyone seen strange behavior with wired guest access on WLAN Controller?

Cisco Doc ID 99470 spells out how to deploy wired guest access over wireless LAN Controllers.
That said, everything has been up and working for almost a year.  Guest wireless uses anchor controller in DMZ - no issues.
Recently configured two wired ports for wired guest networking.  The desktops get the correct IP address via DHCP.  A wireless client (on the table right next to the wired clients) on the guest wireless gets an IP address as expected as well.
Open a continuous ping to the gateway 172.16.16.1 on all three machines.
The two desktops will ping for a few minutes and then stop for 30 seconds or longer.  Wireless client will keep its connection.  (you might think it would be the other way around)
I understand there is a 65,535 second inactivity timeout, but I am only sitting here for minutes, not 18 hours when this happens.
On the wired desktops, you have to bring up a browser and log back in just as you do on a wireless client ever few minutes.  After debugging the client, I found a "failed to find scb" message in the output.
The other trick here is that the wired clients are miles away from where I can actually get on the CLI of the controller.  This makes it difficult to run a debug and bring up a browser since I am not local to the machines when running debugs.
Has anyone ever see this behavior?  Has anyone see the "failed to find scb" message?
    Thanks in advance!

    B.1 How Logout Works
The WebGate logs a user out when it receives a URL containing "logout." (including the "."), with the exceptions of logout.gif and logout.jpg, for example, logout.html or logout.pl. When the WebGate receives a URL with this string, the value of the ObSSOCookie is set to "logout."
The Access System sets an obSSOCookie for each user or application that accesses a resource protected by a WebGate. The obSSOCookie enables users to access resources that are protected by the Access System that have the same or a lower authentication level. Removing the ObSSOcookie causes the WebGate to log the user out and requires the user to re-authenticate the next time he or she requests a resource that is protected by the Access System.
Well, I havn't got that far in the document:)
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Linux serial access problem

I'm running Labview 6.1 on Linux.  The vi I want to run loads properly, but does not seem able to access the serial port.  The default port is com1 (the vi was written on a Windows system I believe), and occasionally ASRL1::INSTR and ASRL2::INSTR show up in the drop-down box.  I can select ASRL1, but it usually reverts to Com1, and then the ASRL's aren't on the list anymore.
I have run NIvisaic, which looks like the ports are properly setup, and I do have permissions correct.  I have a port tester connected, and RTS and CTS do toggle when I select ASRL1, but when I try to send data using the "Basic IO" function, nothing is sent.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hello rhauff,
I understand you are having trouble communicating through serial in Linux. Which Linux distribution are you using and what version of NI-VISA do you have installed?
What exactly is happening when you run your program? You mentioned that it works for 5 seconds but then stops. What is happening when it stops? Are there any errors being thrown?
Also, I think it would be most beneficial to try using a basic serial example in LabVIEW (Help » Find Examples) to see if you can get it to work. Navigate to Hardware Input and Output » Serial » "Basic Serial Write and Read.vi". It would also be helpful to perform an NI-SPY capture when running the program to help troubleshoot what is happening. For information on using NI SPY for Linux, please look here. There is also another resource for troubleshooting serial communcation in Linux which can be found here. Hope this helps,

By default, minicom creates "lock files" to prevent concurrent sessions on the same port. It seems that you killed minicom and it left a stale lock file. They are somewhere in /var, I'm sure man explains how to get rid of them.

  • Accessing cisco wireless controller

    Hi All
I have a cisco 5500 WLC that was decommissioned and is now going to be put back on the network.
I have the old IP of 10.1.2.210/24 which it was part of. I put my laptop  on the same network 10.1.2.10
I access the gui whilst connected to the SP on both http & https I cannot access the browser and I cannot ping the box.
When I plug it in to one of the ports that requires an SFP. I can then ping it but still cant access it via the gui.
    Can anyone help ?
    Thanks

How did you configure those ports?  LAG any VLAN tagging or untagged?
You can try to connect a computer and the WLC to a switch first and then try accessing it.

I have to deploying approx 4000 APs.
    2000 1252
    1800 1142
    200 1522
6500 with lotsa WLSMs or the new controol 5508 (which is still not orderable) ?
I don't think the 1252 is supported in the WLSM ( Its not there in the datasheet )
    Appreciate any help.

    Hi Ahmed,
A couple of things to note here :)
I believe the 5500 series Controllers are now available to order, one of our peers just ordered a pair last week. Secondly, the module you want is named the WiSM not WLSM (the WLSM is the older Autonomous version)the WiSM does support the 1250 series AP's.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps2706/ps6526/product_data_sheet0900aecd80364340.html
Either choice would be an excellent fit for your large deployment, I would be leaning towards the new 5500 series for some of the added features like "Office Extend".
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I restrict access to the RT Series PXI Controller via its FTP server?

The RT Series PXI Controllers run an FTP server, so I can view files on the controller over the Internet wtih a Web browser. I can also download and upload files with a Web browser. How can I instruct the FTP server to give access only to specified, trustworthy FTP clients?

It is possible to "Lock" the controller from the Measurement and Automation Explorer program. The password you set when locking the controller (which prevents others from making configuration changes to the controller while running) is the same password that controls access to the FTP server. When the controller is unlocked, anyone who can access the PXI controller's IP can read, write, and delete files on the FTP server. When locked, anyone can read data from the FTP server, but only when logged in with the lock password will you have access to write or delete data.
For more information on locking your controller, see the user manual, MAX online help, or the following link.

    Hi Steve.
Thanks very much for valuable information,  the main controller class is getting tracked in mo_owner which is declared as  CL_BSP_WD_VIEW_CONTROLLER, and I'm getting the reference through
mo_owner ?= owner. (since mo_owner = owner is not getting converted of type mo_owner ). After doing this on whatever the contexnode class (say zl_xxxx_xxx_cnxx) the corressponding context node values are getting turned as  <#ERROR IN METADATA.
I mean when I'm checking the configuration in bsp_wd_cmpwb configuration tab -> Available Fields->Enlarge the contex node->BTSTATUS (say for Example) there the values are showing as <#ERROR IN METADATA , After executing the above procedure
I cross checked several times before and after redefining the context node method IF_BSP_MODEL~INIT, before redefining this method UI is working fine, after redefintion UI is throwing below error .
