Can any one give the advantages of using a serial number in MM and tell me how and where its really useful as a client point of view??

I think this is general question serial number is applicable to maney modules...
Serial number is the Unique Identification of the Material.....
for exapmple it is like your passport number, through this number you can trace the history / details of yours...
Serial number and batch number is very much helpful in Chemical / pharma industry.... if any defect found in the serial number under the batch...... the hole batch will be taken back to availd further damage....

IPod Touch serial number does not match invoice (rebate problem)

Hi there,
I recently purchased and received a MacBook Pro and iPod Touch online, taking advantage of the rebate program. I was just filling out the rebate form when I noticed that the serial number on my iPod's UPC sticker does not exactly match the serial number on the invoice. By that I mean there are three letters in the serial number that does not match. I checked with Apple's service support coverage online and found that the serial number which is on the invoice is recognized and the one on the UPC sticker is not. I was just about to send in my rebate coupon, and I am wondering if this would affect my rebate claim?
I'll most likely call Apple tomorrow, but just wanted to see if anyone here has any idea.

Sorry, I forgot to include those details. The MacBook was purchased online directly through the Apple Store on 12/20/07. The AppleCare was purchased directly from the Apple Store online on 12/19/08. I usually buy it direct from Apple because of horror stories I had heard about resellers when I bought my first Mac (G4 MDD). I had purchased the G4 MDD years ago and had an issue with it during the first year and called Apple and they informed me that I could buy AppleCare during the first year warranty. The individual I spoke with indicated I did not have to activate it before the first year anniversary, but that I just had to purchase it before the 1 year warranty expired. Before purchasing my wife's Applecare I checked to ensure that was still the case. From the information on the Apple site, it is my understanding that it is still the case. I know I cut it close, but I thought I had bought it later than the 20th. One night I pulled out the invoice and found it was ordered on the 20th so I ordered it that night (19th)!!

Adding a serial number to a template in Numbers

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone may be able to help. I run a small business and would like to create an invoice template in Numbers. Could anyone tell whether there is a way to create a serial or invoice number each time I create a new document from a template?

If someone is interested, it would be easy to write an AppleScript to insert a serial number in a document.
The advantage is that it would be a frozen number.
Two ways to do that:
a - generate a number incremented by one each time you run it.
b - generate a string like the one created by the formula I passed.
The behaviour would be slightly different.
The first version assumes that the last used number is stored somewhere.
The second one is not tied to this obligation.
In fact I was able to write two scripts of a special kind.
They may enclosed in a structure changing them in Services.
Instructions to do that are given in the header of the second script.
The first one inserts the long date_time string where you want.
The second insert a serial number built according to the currentdatetime.

I'm also getting the "invalid serial number", but I'm wanting to upgrade my 5.1 to 5.1.4 to take advantage of HDV 720p/24 support. Is the 5.1.4 update even an option still? I really don't want to be forced to upgrade to FCS2 and shell out $500, just to get this one feature that was included in a patch.
I went to the Registration page and it actually allowed me to register the serial number... (which I'm pretty sure I already had), but it still won't let me in to download any updates. Also, the email confirmation that was supposed to be sent has not arrived 20+ minutes later.
Very strange. I called Apple support and they estimated a wait time of 15 mins... ugh.
Anyone have other suggestions?

Logic is the APPlication (program, app) that you are having the problem with.
Logic Pro can take advantage of other computers on your local (home or work) network to help it do "heavy lifting" data chores by using Bonjour and a feature called Nodes. It seems that Logic is attempting to find and connect to another machine on your network.
Do you have Logic installed on another computer there? That may be the source of the confilict.
You might want to post this question in the Logic Pro Community.
Be sure to indicate the version of Logic Pro that you are using. I'm sure the folks there can help you out.

Lost Serial Number- Not in Account!

So I used to have Adobe Photoshop CS4 on my old windows computer. Since then, I have gotten a Mac computer.
My disk and serial number are with my mother, two hours away. The serial number could help me out a ton, but the problem is my moms really mad at me for going to college so she doesn't speak to me yada yada.
I do have an email from Adobe saying
"Dear Claire,
Thank you for purchasing and registering your copy of Adobe® Photoshop® CS4. You now have a wealth of creative tools at your disposal. But in my adobe account, it doesn't show the product, possibly because my grandma bought it as a gift for me, but its registered with my account.
Any ideas on how I can get it back??

Photoshop is listed under My Products
Before Photoshop you will see a right pointing triangle. Click on it and you will see the serial number.
There is still one problem, the serial number is for a PC and will not work on a Mac
CS4 can't be exchanged for a Mac license nor can it be upgraded.

Reg Adobe Single edition serial number

Hi All....
I am looking for a clarification on the Adobe digitalpublishing suite single eidtion serial number. On purchasing it by paying USD 395, can I use it for any number of apps (with mutliple folio) or does it have any restriction on usage? Also could you please elaborate the advantages of Professional edition over the Single edition? Please advice asap it would be very helpful for us...

Why isn't my CS3 serial number qualified for CC promotional membership?

I am trying to buy the CC membership but with the promotion for clients. When i put the cs3 serial number it tells me i am not qualified. Why does this happen?

I only recently discovered the reason it didn't work for me (I'd put this question to Creative Cloud's Facebook page also, and an Adobe Power-That-Be replied via that): My serial wasn't accepted because it was an Education version.
I hadn't thought of this, as there was no 'Student & Teacher' or similar indication on the packaging, and its initial purchase was so long ago I don't remember where I got it or for how much. But I see I registered it around the time I graduated Media Design School, so I must have taken advantage of the student discount opportunity. It doesn't surprise me then, that having saved considerable coin there, Adobe would consider a CC discount to be a double dip.

Screen cap serial number for rebate form

Hello,
I want to claim the rebate for having Avid Liquid Edition and buying Premiere Pro CS3. The form asks for "a screen shot showing the Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 serial number and your name".
Help - About doesn't seem to show this. Where else do I look? I unlocked the trial, but it is fully licensed and have receipts to prove it.

Oh, it is legit. Even the Adobe sales guy on the telephone mentioned it. Liquid Edition isn't really Vista compatible yet and it has some issues with the DX10 graphics cards, so Adobe is taking advantage of this to lure users to Premiere.

could you guys help me in understanding that in which scenarios (industry),we use the serial number and batch number.I know that in process industry we use the batch number(where shelf life is important) and in machine tools manufacturing company,electorinics parts manufacturing company, we use the serial number.Apart from this can you give me some examples and explain, where serial number and batch number gets used.

batch: when a quantity (Kg, Ltr...) in lumpsum need to be identified separately in inventory, then that material is batch managed
Advantage: each batch stock can be identified in Stores separately.
Dis-advantage: For every transaction of this material Batch as additional parameter is to be placed in SAP.
Serial Number: if you want to distinguish each Item (generally unit of measure will be EA, PC.. etc) in the inventory, then serial number will be used.
Advantage: we can track the movements of each serial number of material
Dis-advantage: every time, you need to place the serial nuber for every one quantity for movements.
Batch & Serial Number: both to-gether can also be used to maintain the group of items classified as Batch at the same time each item can be identified through serial number. please note that lot of data (Batch & serial numbers ) to be placed for each movment.
Batch: batch for material can be activated in Purchasing view / Plant data storage view of material master
Serial Number: separate serial number profile need to be created and placed at work scheduling view or plant data storage view of material master.

CC serial number....grief

From where does one obtain the serial number ...for CC versions of the APPS? (Converting trials to licenced)
I was supplied PO numbers and VIP numbers...but not a serial in sight or any way to find one.
I followed a path to an Adobe supplied solution that does not work as indicated.

I used to love typing in the long complicated serial numbers that came with the disks / boxes on a little sticker. .
Always worked for me.
Seems all downloads originate as trials so thought this could have been much beter thought out!
Also...totally underwhelmed how Adobe rubs our noses in the advantageous prices their US customers get for these products . Large splash screen showing the rates.
Very very uncool seeing we all go to the same CLOUD space to get the apps.

Just got sorted.
A rep from Adobe New Zealand contacted me and nailed the issue by taking me thru a few very un intuitive steps. He is passing the issue back to Adobe.
Brilliant service and I was well impressed that my supplier arranged that to happen.
We may pay extra outside the US but maybe thats why.
One of the steps in the Team User setup is ..you need to invite your self to participate in your own Cloud Subscription via the Adfmon Console.
The invitation to one self appears to be as if one is setting up (inviting) another team member. Its not. Original user becomes #1 in the team.
For the record - there are no serials required for users in the Team Cloud ( and maybe not anywhere else). That is a hangover from when there was Cloud CS6 and perpetual licence options.
Maybe that helps others.

Server serial number

I managed to get into an unidentified (one of 2) I mac G3's one for sure needs a server serial number to access anew.

I got into the computer today, with the option start, and got in deep enough to start grinding up the trash- it's a 'little guy' with 4.65 and 655 m's available on the server, and 1 G available of 4.55 on the Client. It's running ( Imac G3) on jaguar, and i did get (yesterday) to the fresh opening, allowing new administator!
Now I get to show the boss the mac advantage!

Where is my serial number (App Store d/l)

I paid for and downloaded Aperture on my MacPro and am trying to install it on my laptop machine. I don't see a serial number on the email from the App Store confirming purchase and I can't seem to find it in the UI for Aperture. Suggestions?

Correct, the new MobileMe account gives you all those things.
Do I also have an iPhone/iPad account under this name that I access from iTunes on my laptop under this account information /and/ I now have an Mac App Store App account under this same information that I access via the App Store App on my computers?
As long as you use the same Apple ID (typically your email address and a password), then everything should be available when signing in with that same Apple ID.
Note - if you changed your email address, then the Apple ID associated with your old email address may be different than the one with your new email address.
And both of these App accounts I can access directly via their respective Websites?
The new one can for sure. I am not sure how Apple will continue to handle an old account that is not current (e.g., the old '.me' vs. the new '.me' account). I would post in the MobileMe forum for any specific questions or issues you run into there. There will be users who have much more experience than I to help with any problems.

Correct.
The idea being that we can use the Mac App Store service for purchasing, installing and re-installing software without having to keep a bunch of install discs, '.dmg' install files and any serial numbers around. The proviso to this is that if a software is discontinued, there is no guarantee that you will be able to re-install. For this reason, I keep a clone of my system disk on an external drive with the software installed that I know I want to use for the foreseeable future.
Or how does this work? For instance I have downloaded iPhone Apps to my iPhone from the old account and now I am downloading Computer Apps and will be downloading iPhone Apps from the new account...
This might be an issue where you need to login differently to download the older apps. I would try to login with both Apple ID's to test to see if the old account is allowed access.
I try to keep the same Apple ID for all my Apple related login details (although I lost my original Apple Discussion forum username 'CorkyO' due to changing from a Comcast email to a MobileMe one).
If you run into problems with logging in to the old account, you may want to contact Apple sales to see what your options are if this creates problems with any of your apps purchased under that Apple ID.
