Serial Number Generator

Not what it sounds like.
Has anyone developed already or does anyone know of a 3rd
party utility that would allow us to protect our Adobe AIR
application using unique serials for each user? This may be more of
an action script question but just wondering before I go out and
create my own. We are already distributing our application but now
we have an immediate need to start protecting it by a serial number
and I would rather not start from scratch. I know there are
utilities for .NET and pretty much every other language but I
havent found anything for Flex or AIR or Action Script.

I wish to generate a Customized report, which shall include the total consumption based on Sales Order/Line Item/Serial Number/Production Order matching the Serial Number generated in the Production Order where in we can get the required data.

Hello Tman,
This is a slightly tricky question. The reason being, the report options like the report path etc, are set before you see the serial number prompt when you run your UUT. There might be other ways of getting around this, but a quick solution would be modifying the process model.
I modified the PreUUT callback to set the report options. I passed the reportOptions as a parameter to this sequence. In the PreUUT sequence, I set the following fields:
Parameters.ReportOptions.GeneratePath=False
Parameters.ReportOptions.ReportFilePath= "c:\\"+ Locals.SerialNumber +"\\report.xml"
I hope this would give you an idea.

Without equipment creation serial number required at the time of delivery? In customizing i have defined that equipment not required in serialization profile. But still i am getting equipemnt number at the time of delivery of sales order.

Pls find here some details about generating alphanumeric serial numbers as below :
You can generate alphanumeric serial number with the following BADI / Customer Exit:
Name of Enhancement : IQSM0001
Name of Function Module Exit: EXIT_SAPLIPW1_001
Name of Include : ZXQSMU01
ZXQSMU01:
This user exit can be used to create the serial numbers automatically for material of a production order. Number of serial numbers generated will be equal to the total number of quantity. The purpose behind development of this user exit was to attach prefix in each serial number generated.
so as per your requirement you can generate serial number like ABC0001 etc.
Process Steps:
For exit: EXIT_SAPLIPW1_001
1. Get serial number profile for a material in respective plant.
2. Check if the profile is u2018XYZu2019.
3. If profile is u2018XYZu2019 generate the serial numbers for the given quantity of material in production order.
General Program Structure
For exit: EXIT_SAPLIPW1_001
1. Get the serial number profile using function module 'MARC_SINGLE_READ' for a material.
2. Check if the profile is u2018XYZu2019.
3. If the serial number profile is u2018XYZu2019 then generate the serial numbers for the given production order quantity of a material.
4. Concatenate ABC as a prefix to the all generated serial numbers
Provide above details reg. implementation BADI / Enhancement to your ABAPer and go ahead.
You can implement above Enhancement in CMOD.

Serial Number for SALE ORDER

In this scenario , I have to create sale order for 20 qty which it should trigger production order for the same quantity as it have many sub assemblies. sub-assemblies here mean sub batch orders. and for the same qty , serial numbers got generated. So once the stock posted in the storage location , Now the delivery has to be created in VL01N. at this time , user may change the ship to party in delivery order.But this cannot be changed (as per standard) in Delivery ship-to. If sometimes User reduces the quantity the serial number generated will get deleted. But next time when the user created the order , serial number deleted cannot be generated again , but the client do not want to miss any serial number , even the ones got deleted. how to handle this?

this is to inform you that
you can achieve this by creating a Z table in delivery level when ever user deletes or decreases the delivery quantity then the Z table has to get activated and should store the deleted serial numbers and relevant details which are shown below
logic here is:
when ever your creating a sales order quantity with delivery quantity if it is lesser than sales order quantity then the difference serial numbers will et stored in that Z table. which are used for some other purpose.
these are the z table fields considered:
S.No. sales order number sales order quantity delivery number delivery quantity differene quantity including serial numbers.

Good issue on production ordre using different serial number

Hi expert,
I have a production order with several serial number of FG to be manufactured.
Material with batch number have been assigned and reserve for the production order.
I would like to perform a good issue of raw material with batch number and dispatched to the different serial number generated.
Do you have any idea to do it?

We have use serial management as follwoing ,Pl. tally whether u suit it.
for traceability,We have maintain serial number profile into material master for FG & SFG materials,
During order confirmation,sytem allow to confirm the order ,but SFG with serial no. profile not gets consumed,
for that we use MB1A movement type 261 with input order number ,enter serial no. for the component & save.
we could later easily trace the component consumption through MB51 261 document for that particular material.

Unique serial number during production order release for FG materials

Actually our client is asking for serial number generation for each FG material during its production order release.
So that with this serial number he can track it in shop floor plus after dispatching to customer.
Here the scenario is Make To Order, this serial number will also be considered by SD during dispatch.
For serial number creation, I referred documents from SAP best practices(help.sap.com).
After this, now I am able to create serial number for specific material automatically.
Currently I am getting serial number with respect to material specific, i.e., serial number generating with respect to FG codes. Ex:- FG1 - 1, 2, 3, 4 and FG2 - 1, 2, 3, 4.
But as per my client requirement, they want serial number without material specific, i.e., common serial number for all FG codes.
Ex:- Sr No- 1-FG1, 2-FG1, 3-FG2, 4-FG1 - - - - according to production order releasing sequence.
Plz inform if any settings are to be made.

But still I had not got solution for
how to assign common serial number for all FG codes automatically
Ex:- Sr No- 1 -> FG1,
2 -> FG1,
3 -> FG2,
4 -> FG1

SD : Serial number in production order

Hi,
SAP doesn't copy my serial number set by function 'SERIAL_LISTE_POST_AU' into the production order. Why is this ?
When i go into the sales order i see the serial number, but after running mrp the number can't be found in the production order. When i go into the 'technical object' screen in the sales order and press 'ok' and then save the sales order, the serial does appear.

Currently I am getting serial number with respect to material specific, i.e., serial number generating with respect to FG codes. Ex:- FG1 - 1, 2, 3, 4 and FG2 - 1, 2, 3, 4.

Me dont know about Presort and IMB serial numbers.
Please tell me the appropriate approach I can make or any of links which I can refer.

Serial number when production order creation in MTO

Dear sir
serial number profile assinged in the material master of finfished product . i have sales ordernumber x and qty for finished product 10EA.
when i run md50 for mto . then pland order qty converted to production order for 10ea. then production order created for 10 ea and serial number s generaqted x1 to x10.like x1,x2,x3,x4,----
x10.fro production order number y
but when i convert pland order to producton order qty for 2EA , then production order created for 2ea, and serial number generated x1,x2. like this iam spliting the custmer order qty . then i run md 50 for same sales order iwill get pland order for remaning qty 8EA , now iam converting to production order for 2 ea only . but production order created for 2 ea and serial number generated same number which was generatd first production order y like x1,x2.but it should generated x3,x4
for 2nd order for 3rd order x5,x6 like this.
pl tell me solve my problem .

Go to path IMG > Plant Maintenance and Customer Service > Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service > Technical Objects > Serial Number Management > Define Serial Number Profiles. There enter "2" in Stkck column for your serial profile.

If i am using standard SAP Serial Number management, Numbers are starting from 1,2,3 . Can I assign the Number range In serial Numbers. From--to.

Exit and Serial number for MIGO transaction

Hello All,
I am facing an issue with MIGO transaction. I have to use FM 'ITOB_SERIALNO_READ_SINGLE', and for using this I want two values viz.. Material number and Serial Number..
I have Material number directly flowing but Serial Number is not present. As per my knowledge, To get serial number I can use two methods:
One is call FM 'GET_SERNOS_OF_DOCUMENT' where I need to Pass value of MBLNR to get the serial number. This MBLNR is not flowing in the code.
Second is directly fetch data from SER03 table and then OBJK table to get Serial Number. Here again we need MBLNR to fetch data from SER03 table which is not present.
I am using User Exit 'IQSM0007' for my purpose. I have checked other exits as well for MIGO where I can directly get Serial number generated but haven't got any.
Please revert if you know anything in this regard.

I have tried them already and want you to know that this BADI will trigger before document posting and not after that.
As of now I am coding like I am going to this BADI and importing internal table MSEG which has values to memory id. Then I am going to last BADI used for SERVICES and importing this table there. This last BADI triggers after the document is posted.
I am here since I want a better solution, if it is?

Problem in getting serial number after BDC of IQ04.

Hi all,
I am doing a BDC recording of IQ04 t-code and generating serial number internally passing material number,equipment category
and no. of serial number to be generated.
Serial number is getting generated and i am getting BDC message 'Serial numbers generated for material xyz'.
But my problem is i want to capture that serial number generated.
I tried get parameter id but it is not working.
Can anyone help me.

Its not getting capture in message table of BDC.
This is only the problem....Because while running std transaction IQ04 also we will get only one message 'Serial numbers generated for material xyz'. So not able to capture it.
