Serial number in inventory management

Dear experts ,
I have  assigned serial number profile in material master .
While doing a GR i ticked the create serial number automatically & the system assigned a serial number to the material .
I want to know , where do u define & assign the number ranges that the system will pick in case of automatic serial number allocation .
Also how can i have external number assigned for serial number .
Moreover  how can i check the stock based on serial number ( report t codes )
Regards
Anis

Hello Anis...some i can answer...
1.External Number assignment can be done using :IQ01 :Create Material Serial Number, this can be created Prior to GR and can be assigned to Material at GR.
2.You can look into the stock by using MMBE tarnsaction, just Execute you material,Plant Stores...
Select the stock level and go to Environment and select Equipment/Serial Number from drop menu to display alll sreial Number assignments.
Hope this helps

Serial Numbers in Inventory Management u2013 Warehouse managed storage locations
We want to run inventory cycle at the warehouse for materials. These materials are u2018serial numberedu2019 in the material master. During the initial entry (say GR) of the materials, systems prompt for the serial numbers. At this point, system offers option of assignments of serial numbers automatically.
While running an inventory cycle for warehouse u2013 and posting difference at WM level (LI01), system is throwing error as u201Cmaintain serial number for totol quantityu201D. System does not promt me to enter the serial number for the materials (count) which are found excess/shortage duing the inventory cycle.
Is there any configuration where this scenario can be managed; system should prompt us to enter serial number while posting differenes at WM level (LI20).
    The inventory cycle is -
    1.     Create Physical Inventory Documents - LI01N
    2.     Activate Physical Inventory Document -      LI02N
    3.     Enter Count -     LI11N
    4.     Post Differences at WM level -     LI20
    5.     Post Differences at IM level(If Differences are posted at WM ) -     LI21

Curious to know: The WM Inventory transaction - LI11N - (where we enter physical count. )
    1. Compared to MI04 - IM Inventory Transaction: where a pop-up window asks for serial number of the material.
    2. We expect a similar pop-up at LI11N transaction- where the system should ask serial numbers.
Q.1 How can we achieve this?
Q.2 Will this be a standard SAP practice?  (if we do customizing to get serial nos. pop-up window at LI11N)
    thanks,

  • Serial number in sample management

    Dear gurus
Can I use serial number in sample management to maintain the uniqueness of the sample.
    Kindly help
    Thanks
    MK

    1.In the task list
    a) define the sample drawing procedure. In sample drawing procedure you have to define the type of sample you needed.
    b) in the header below sample drawing procedure ,define the Inspection point based on the sample mgt.
c)At the char level define the sampling procedure for each char/mic.
Now activate the serial number profile in the Material master as per normal procedure.
Make sure that you active the serial number tick in the inspection setup.
This will create the samples &  you can do the RR ,defect recording as per the serial number & sample mgt.
I hope this will add some value

  • Serial Number Mistake - Inventory

We  have released a serialized item from SAP but physically selected the incorrect item from inventory.  What is the process to correct this in SAP, i am sure a semi common mistake
Mfr. Serial # 124 - is "available" according to SAP (this item was accidentally sold to a customer)
Mrf. Serial # 113 - is "unavailable" according to SAP (this item is currently in the warehouse)
We use both the "Mfr serial no."  and the "Serial Number" fiields.  The Mfr serial number we take from the device, and the Serial number we assign.  SAP will allow us to adjust the "serial number" after the transaction but not the Mfr serial number.
Can you point me in the right direction?
    MANY MANY Thanks
    SAP   8.8 PL: 17

Simply use return to return incorrect item & issue to issue correct ite.
You will need to update Equipment cards manually

  • Serial number in Inventory

    Dear Experts
The serial number is created in prdn order and its transfered to inventory only if i maintain control key pp01 in final operation
If i maintain pp03-auto good receipt in final operation the serial no is not transfered to inventory
    please advise me asap
    thanks&regards
    s.anbalagan

    Hi Anbalagan,
We dont have facility to assign no. ranges to Serial No. instead we give No. ranges for Equipment Categories and assign this Equipment Catgoriy to Serial No. Profile.By Assigning the Serial No. profile to a material master, the system will use the Serial Nos from No. ranges for Equipment Category.
Another method is through transaction IQ01.

  • Serial number control

I want to have a control on not receiving a return on a serial number which I have not sold before. How can I do this? Is there a user exit? Also I don't want to be able to sell a serial number from the consignment stock which I have not sent to the customer'sconsignment stock. How can I have those controls?

    Hi,
    Go to t-code OIS2
Select serial number profile which you speciefied in material master i.g. 0002, then click on serialization pricedure(at left side),
Now in pront of procedure SDRE (MAINTAIN RETURN DELIVERY) maintain as 01 (None).
it means when u create return delivery system never generates serial number.
For second one explore serial number in inventory management.

  • Error when doing GR for production order with serial number

I'm not familiar with serial number and equipment management but I'm trying to help my user resolve this issue.
This product is returned from customer site.
I saw that this material is being reset in IQ02 from status in warehouse to become Available when the material is consumed in the production order via 261 movement type. So now the status is available. Then the user went to change a new serial number. Later, GR for production order is done in MB31. Errors are encountered when prompted to enter the new serial number.

  • Serial number receiving for a rework order

    Scenario:
I have one piece of equipment which is serialized and I need to rework this.So i create a rework order issue the material serial and batch number and would like to receive the reworked product with the same serial number but a different batch.
Can anyone please give me a detailed config description
and also we are using a custom movement type in mb31 for receiving, so does that mean that this movement type needs to be assigned to a flow type group in serial number movement attribute management?
I think this is standard SAP for example when we have a subcontracting order and send a serial number out we would like to receive the same serial number back in.In the same way I think we should be able to receive the same serial number with a different batch using a rework order.
Gurus please throw some light on this issue.
    Thanks

I have checked the subscription you had purchased and it is for English only.
Could please confirm me the install language of Creative Cloud.
If it is other than English then make it "English(International)" from prefrence of Creative Cloud.

  • Satellite L300-21F - Where can I find the serial number?

The ink on the silver toshiba serial no./model no. panel on the back of my laptop rubbed off after only a week of use when i bought the pc last year. I am now having a problem with my touchpad not registering finger-cursor movements or strokes at a normal applied pressure. I have to press harder much of the time for the action to be registered. A third of the time it works fine at normal pressure.
It is still under warranty. Unless anyone can tell me of a possible reason for this[anyone?] then I guess I should probably send it in for repairs.
Where can I find the serial no. information? Is it stored electronically on windows anywhere? I have only a rough idea of what the serial number is - i managed to write down most of it when i noticed it had started to rub off. I don't think my laptop is registered online and I don't have the paperwork that accompanied the laptop in its box.
    Thanks for any help

    Hi
Im really wondering that you cant read the serial number on the bottom side anymore after one week only Where do you use the notebook?
Anyway, I have Satellite L300 too with Windows XP preinstalled. If I start Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tools I can view all details about my notebook and also see the serial number.
    Check this!!!

  • What is the difference between Serial numbers and Batch management.

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone explain the difference between Serial Number and Batch Management in breif.
    Regards
    Ravi

    Hi,
Serial number management and batch management are different functions that can be
used in conjunction with each other.
    A batch represents a non-reproducible subset
of the total quantity of a material held in stock, which is managed separately from
other subsets of the same material.
    For Example  Different production lots
(for example, paints, wallpapers, pharmaceutical products), delivery lots or quality
    grades of a material.
whereas a serial number is a number that you give to an individual item of material in addition
to the material number, in order to differentiate between this individual piece and all
other items of the material. The combination of material number and serial number
is unique. It is not necessary to use the batch management function to use serial
    number management.

    VIjay.

  • Inventory Tracking & Inventory Posting for Serial number managed items

    Hi,
Plase advise me to address this issue..
My scenarios is : - hand an item whih is serially managed, purchase 2qty and it serial number is 'S1' and 'S2', in a delivery document had selected 'S2" and physically issued 'S1', ineed to correct serial number at the time of inventory counting..kindly advise...
    thanks in advance..
    Nobin

    HI Raghu ,
as you are setting other properties like itemcode and warehouse, u will find batchnumber and batch qunatity(after u press Lines. ) see the sample locally at ..Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One SDK\Samples\COM DI\VB.NET\04.SerialAndBatch.  , if u have )
the sample updates the batch table in loop, whereas I used to give all the required batch quntity at once.
U have to make it sure that the item is managed by batch ( if a field in oitm called 'ManBtchNum' is found 'Y' then only go ahead with defining batch number and batch quantity else , ur document will not simplly get posted and no error will be thrown)
also remember that since it is goods issue, u have to have the batch existing in the database (oibt table) with the defined batch quantity.)
    hope it helps.

  • Inventory with Serial Number Material

    Hi Experts,
I´ve been trying to create a recount (MI04) for a material with Serial Number.
Currently I have in one Storage Location more than 100,000 pieces of this material.
So when I try to do the counting, all SAP functions get blocked and it doesn´t end the process.
I have a limit of numbers to count?
It seems that the lock table overflows.
Any suggestions how can i manage this counting?

MI04 is enter count, MI11 is create recount.
A physical inventory document can maximum have 333 items.
100,000 pieces of this material can be just one record or 100000 different inventory records. this number does not tell much.
do you want to say that you have 100000 serial numbers for one material to be counted?

  • Serial Number Management-doubt

    Hi,
We are implementing SAP for trading products. We have a scenario that a material has 2 or 3 unique serial numbers.
We are planning to go for serial no. management.
How can the serial number management can be extended to the scenario.
Can we used batch management and serial number management.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Krishna
Your requirement is not completely clear.
I am guessing you are saying that a specific object can have 3 serial numbers, example, you are a trading company dealing with Television sets, so you will a serial number to identify a particular piece, at the same time it will have another Serial number ID from the Manufacturer ( say Samsung) and one more assigned by the Main Distributor and so on. Is that the case?
Or are you talking about A TV having a Serial number and the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT- I know it is obsolete technology- but just an example) within the TV has another Serial Number and so on.
    Please clarify.
In any case I don't think you can have more than one Serial number assigned to a unique piece part. But you could use some fields within Serial Number master data- General tab- e.g. ManufSerialNo. and Inventory no to capture the 'other' serial numbers, but they will be just fields for information.
For the second case you may build a structure like an Ibase and have a hierarchy of Equipment; like TV with CRT, Tuner under it for example.
You can also use batch but batch is like a lot and signifies a set of products and not just one (usually).
Provide more info and you will have ideas coming from everyone.

  • My CreativeCloud manager won't connect to the internet. As a result it can't verify my serial number for Adobe Acrobat XI.

I followed the trouble-shooting steps for this issue, to no avail (Sign in, activation, or connection errors | CS5.5 and later, Acrobat DC). The back story is that I was an independent contractor working for a company and had my own CreativeCloud account. I've since been hired and my boss has opted to purchase a license for Acrobat instead of a CC subscription. He bought the license a few months back, right around the time I cancelled my subscription. But now, the machine I have been using this whole time (PC, Windows 7) is saying I need to renew my subscription when I attempt to run Acrobat. When I click the links, 'Subscription Manager' or 'Have a different Adobe ID?', I get a spinning wheel that eventually times out and tells me 'Please connect to the internet and retry'. At one point I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, at which point it asked me for a serial number, which I have. I entered the number and as it was trying to verify, it timed out and gave me the same 'Renew your subscription' message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This has been very frustrating.

  • IB:How to update a serial Number which has Inventory Material Transactions?

    Dear friends
first of all thanks for your time and valuable solutions
Install base: How to update a serial Number which has Inventory Material Transactions
    problem description:
    Install base > quick search
Here is Installbase record, when I query from quick search
Rec#     Item          Item Instance           Serial Number          Status
    1     300-7000-01      3000000           1000XXX-0538JQ0003 Return for Adv Exchange
    2     300-7000-01     8000000               1000XXX-0538JQ0003-     Return for Adv Exchange
    3     300-7000-01     5000000               1000XXX-0538JQ0003-A     Return for Adv Exchange
looking above data, first and third records are the legitimate serial numbers(correct according to the client specs), second record is not legitimate since it has a dash as suffix, we found there are many illegitimate serial Numbers exists, needs to be updated with the right serial Numbers which I analyzed in excel after pulling data from mtl_material_transactions , oe_order_lines_all , mtl_serial_numbers , mtl_system_items_b
    basically these are all RMAs
I need to update the second record as 1094SUZ-0538JQ0003-B as per the guidelines, while updating I need to keep all the existing contracts, Warranty, what ever material transations it has, need to be same.
we have a package updating the serial numbers using IB API (csi_Item_Instance_Pub.update_item_instance) but it is updating only the records which has no serial numbers present for that instance, if there is a serial number already exists it is not working.
user define error msg "Serial Number 1094SUZ-0538JQ0003- has Inventory Material Transactions. This serial number cannot be used to update an existing Item Instance", but I need to update this anyway!! or am I missing something here, please advice me
below post looks like similar issue, talks about hard update, I have no clue, by doing that the updated serial number will have same transations, contracts, dates....attached to it like the previous serial number
    IB UPDATE_ITEM_INSTANCE ERROR - doesn't allow ACTIVE_START_DATE to change
would be great If you guys help me out, really appreciated!!

Used this. May not be perfect but should get you there. Only if the table is registered (all the seeded tables should be registered) this will work.
    select distinct a.table_name,b.column_name from fnd_tables a, fnd_columns b
    where a.table_id=b.table_id
    and upper(b.column_name) like '%SERIAL%'
Also this is very old one but if you need history for this change add the history insert logic as well..
