Serial number is invalid for CS2 install. Have downloaded per Adobe instruction and using Adobe published serial number

I moved Illustrator CS2 to a new computer an can not activate.
Deleted the current and downloaded per instructions from Adobe site, but the serial number provided by Adobe will not activate the program. I get a "Invalid Serial Number" after inputting the serial number from the download site.

Just to make sure:
Is it AI as a standalone application for Mac?
Otherwise, it will be one of the other serial numbers (for the whole suite (Mac or Win) if it forms part of it, or for the standalone Win AI).
Concerning the whole suite, you should be aware that the only suite version available for download is the Standard, so if you have the CS2 Premium you will need to, you have to download the Standard and then the Acrobat Professional and GoLive separately.

I don't understand; did you really convert all your Excel docs to PDF (how?), or did you merely lose/change the file association?

If it is the first CS version then you will need to check out the following. I believe it applies to CS as well even though it specifies CS2....

Serial Number (Lack of) for CS2

I am attempting to download CS2 and it is asking me for a serial number. Another user recommended I create a ZIP file, however this is on a work computer so I was granted special privileges once to download the program. How can I find this number or bypass it with out having to re-download files?

Did you pay for PS CS2 many years ago, so you are a licensed user? Be aware that the CS2 licensing servers were decommissioned some years ago so you have to download and install special versions of CS2 and use a special serial number, but this is only for users that originally purchased CS2 and are licensed to use it.

If you don't have this version then I don't know of any way to get it without downloading it. It is unclear what situation you're talking about regarding zip files or special privileges and what that might have to do with a serial number. Also the term "download" typically means to get a file from a far away server (like Adobe's) and copy it to your local PC or Mac using the internet. This process should not, yet, be asking for a serial number. What does ask for a serial number is when you install the program using the installer that was downloaded.

First be sure login and password are OK. Sometimes the address starts wit "http://..." and sometime starts with "ftp://...". Try both normal FTP access and Scure FTP access (SFTP). At the end, contact the site's provider.

No.
Serial numbers are Mac only or Windows only. There is a platform swap process (from Mac to PC etc) but only for CS6.
As a CS5 owner, your choices are to either pay to upgrade to CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud.

Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

The CC Cleaner Tool assumes the Akamai Download Manager is activated and it has not. It seems to be the missing file that triggers the error message. \in a previous re-install I was prompted to download & install the Akamai Download Manger, but not this time. Is there somewhere on the Adobe website that I can download it??
