Serial number not accepted after purchasing LightRoom 5

I downloaded the 30 day trial of LightRoom, LightRoom Mobile and Creative Cloud, then decided to buy outright LightRoom 5 from Amazon (not wanting a monthly subscription to services I didn't need).
I got a serial number from Amazon, downloaded and installed my purchase and tried to enter the serial number. I got a screen message saying the serial number is invalid.
How can I fix this and activate what I have paid for?
BTW, why do I have to query a forum instead of getting advice from Adobe, who presumably have my money?

You probably need to contact Amazon unless they explicitly state that you need to contact Adobe.  As far as I can see Amazon sold you the software, not Adobe... Amazon has your money.  I am not sure how it works if you downloaded, but for the hardcopy it states that it "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com."
Did someone require you to query this forum or did you get directed here thru the following page:   Contact Customer Care
If you came thru that page, if you make the proper selections you should get an option to contact Adobe Support by chat and/or phone, though they are not a 24/7 operation like the forums can be.

    if you purchased a mac serial number, and not windows, your serial number will be valid with the matching mac installation file regardless of which mac os you use.  some mac os may not be compatible but that's not a serial number issue.
    if that doesn't explain the issue because you did purchase cs5 design prem for mac, what error message are you seeing after entering your serial number?

    Well, I contacted support again, and was told I would have a telephone call from them as it needed 'real time' problem solving. Great I thought, someone will help at last.
    So at the appointed time I was at the computer, phone to one side, coffee at the other, waiting for the call.
    I waited
    and waited
    and waited
    3 hours later I send a message to Adobe saying what I thought. Eventually after almost 5 hours after the promised call, someone phoned. Details confirmed, problem explained.
    RESULT! Well, no. 'we do not support PSE3' So why the £$*& did you agree to telephone? I stated the problem in the initial contact, including the version I was using. An email saying 'sorry we do not support PSE3' would have sufficed, but no, they gave the impression that they would give support, for which I was grateful (at the time, not now)
    So what do I think of Adobe product support?
    What support? They do not understand the meaning of the work, or customer service in general.

    I have a Macbook Air and tried to install CS4 Design Standard, but the downloaded installer does not accept my serial number (marked as invalid). I purchased the CS4 Design Standard (Education) in 2009. What can I do to install the CS 4 on my Mac that has no disc drive? Why is my serial number not accepted?

    loaded a test version of lightroom on MAC. Tried to add the serial number but number was not accepted.
    Installed Lightroom on Windows PC and entered the serial number and this works fine.
    Why can I not add the same number on my MACbook?

    Christian the version available through the Creative Cloud Desktop application is designed for subscription customers.  Please run the uninstaller for Photoshop Lightroom located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.
    Once you have installed the subscription version you can download the full version from Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh.  Each update contains the full installation files so please download the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1.
    If you do not have a Creative Cloud or Individual membership then I would recommend removing the Creative Cloud Desktop application.  It is designed as an installation mechanism for individuals who have an active membership.

  • CS2 Premium serial number not accepted at use on Win 7 system

    I have at several years old version of the Creative Suite 2 Premium. It has been licensed on a Win XP system previously, but now I try to install it on my new Win 7 computer.
    But the "Personalize your software" - window will not accept the serial number that I can read on the product casette from the label named "SERIAL NUMBER CREATIVE SUITE PREM".
    Am pretty sure that it is entered correctly, and in fact the same serial number is accepted during installatin.
    Please advise....

    The request for the serial number comes when I start up InDesign, I have not tried the other programs.

  • Why is my purchased serial number not accepted in the downloaded trial version?

    I purchased an upgrade to Elements 10 from Elements 9 and downloaded a 32 bit version instead of a 64 bit version.  The only way I found to re-download was to download a trial version.  Entering the serial number provided by Adobe gives the message that it is an invalid serial number.

    Did you enter the Elements 10 serial number?  Have you checked your account to verify it is the same serial number you have registered?

    Purchased, downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements 13 on Mac.
    After installation it asks for serial number. It will not accept the serial number from the purchase email.
    I verified it was the same serial number as on the accounts page.
    I checked it multiple times, had someone else check it, then printed out the email and entered one number at a time checking each one off just to make sure I got it right and I still cant get it to accept the serial number.

  • CS4 Design Standard Serial Number not accepted

    Hi Adobe Community,
    I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and want to install my "old" CS4 Creative Suite Design Standard on it.
    I found a page on the Adobe that enables to download CS4 software. They are all here except the Creative Suite Design Standard.
    I picked the Illustrator one thinking that I would pick Photoshop and In Design afterwards.
    It went well until I had to key in the Serial Number.
    It was not accepted. Said:
    Error "The serial number is not valid for this product" | Creative Suite
    Any idea?

    I have just reinstalled my Mac and upgraded to Yosemite. I have reinstalled my copy of Photoshop CS4 Extended but when I enter my serial number which obtained from adobe site after logging I am told it is not valid so I can only use the program in demo mode for 30 days. I bought the mac version and it has never been installed anywhere else
    Any ideas?

    Find your serial number quickly
    Contact Adobe with proof of purchase since we are users and cannot fix this.
    If you bought it from Adobe, it will be registered under the account you purchased it under.

    I purchased an iMac a few weeks ago and installed Lightroom 4 (but I honestly haven't used it yet since I had a lot of current work on my laptop where I was working in Lightroom 4) I am now ready to start working on the new computer and I just upgraded to Lightroom 5 but my serial number isn't being accepted.  I have read that this should be taken care of automatically?... but it hasnt' been.  Suggestions? Help?

    We have installed Creative Suite 4 Design Standard on a Windows 7 computer and all programs are running fine but prompting to activate. We have confirmed with LWS and Adobe support that we have the correct serial number but when entering it at the licensing prompt, it is not being accepted.
