Serial port A has gone dead, B is ok, how to use it with rommon?

Good day,
the serial port A on E250 has gone dead. The communication is one-way, I can send, but no response is received. However serial port B is ok. Question is, how can I use port B for rommonitor/solaris install?

well, here's a thought... but i'm not sure how useful it will be to either of you if the system currently won't boot.
the openboot environment variables you're going to change are input-device and output-device
if you were at an ok> prompt, you could simply type 'setenv input-device ttyb', i think you'd also have to set the output-device :)
if you were booted into solaris, you could use the /usr/platform/<your platform here>/sbin/eeprom command to set the eeprom values, for both of you, your platform is sun4u, so you would type:
/usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/eeprom input-device=ttyb
likewise for output-device, you can check your eeprom settings by running eeprom without any arguments.
if you can't boot up currently... then... uh... crap... that's tough... if you can't get into it at all you're gonna have to call sun... probably want to replace that motherboard anyways...

Unfortunately, iOS 7 is too hard to push for the iPhone 4 and therefore has a lot of effects turned off to try to get it to run as smoothly as possible.
However, it becomes better and better with each update coming but it's hard to do anything about the hardware on an already released phones.
If you still have trouble or think they are too hard. My tip is, if so, to restore your iPhone 4 and make a clean setup with no iCloud backup. But all your photos in a photostream so you can access it later.

If this started happening without your having made any changes and without a warning of low disk space, then it's likely that the boot drive, or some other hardware component, is failing. Back up all data immediately, then run the Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics.
Even if the test is negative, you should make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested more thoroughly.

Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

How to use Terminal with KeySpan USB serial adaptor cable?

I own a KeySpan model USA-19HS to use with our MacBookPro when working on clients networking equipment that require serial communication. I have used ZTerm with excellent luck, but it costs, and is yet another application that I dont really want. I would like to know if any one out there has exacing instructions on how to use Terminal with this adaptor. If I could write a file that had, say, the couple most common settings (9600-8-n-1, 57600-8-n-1, et cetera) that I could simply click on, to open a new Terminal window with those settings, then simply close that, and open a new window (apple+n) in order to get back to a default settings terminal window. All feedback is most appreciated.

1. Have you considered discussing this with Keyspan Support?
2. Have you read the section "OSX has Terminal.app - why do I need ZTerm?" on the ZTerm Home Page? That seems to explain why one needs an app like ZTerm.
3. A quick search of Keyspan's FAQ for your product and terminal doesn't yield much more than how to find the serial ports using Terminal.
Likewise, this Google search also yields little, and variants of that search of such weren't particularly help either.
It appears your inquiry seems to be a somewhat esoteric topic.
4. Apparently, ZTerm X is a bit long in the tooth and there's no Universal Binary for it. It sounds, however, like you've tried it running on your MBP under Rosetta, yes?
5. In researching alternatives to ZTerm for you, I note the followng:• The comment from "Reverb" on this page suggests C-Kermit or Kermit as a free alternative.
• This tip on Mac OS X Hints cites Minicom as another option.6. You may want to try your question on the Unix Discussion.

It sounds like you are looking for a program like Typinator.
It isn't free, and the site doesn't specify compatibility with any OS above 10.7.
As of today, the latest release is dated May 29th, 2012.

At this point, you are past the 1 year hardware warranty that comes with the iPhones, and even if you had purchased AppleCare, you would be outside the 2 year coverage that comes with it. Basically you have 2 options, take your phone into an Apple Retail Store near you, and see if they can do anything for it, or pay an out of warranty pricing replacement of $199.

I took out the sim card & put it on a heater in case it had got damp - after about 30mins i put it back in & the phone came on but oly for 20mins or so. I can't switch it on since. It didn't get wet - i didn't drop it - it just stopped working.....It's only 8months old! Did anyone else experience this? Plz help - my husband bought this for me & has no insurance

It's still under warranty, so if there really IS something wrong with it Apple will exchange it.
First try a Reset - Hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). If it is completely dead charge it for 30 minutes using the mains charger first.

This happened to me a few times. Take the case off and sit down, give it (Back side of ipad) a hard smack on your thigh, but do it in a way that the back lands flat on your leg. There are some component cables that can come loose and this smacking motion can cause them to go back into place.

"Debris pocket"? I said "check for pocket debris" as in debris /dirt / fluff from whatever pocket you might carry the phone in. A piece of dirt in the phone's docking port can easily prevent a good connection being made with the charging cable.

My search field has stopped working. (I'm not sure if that's the right name for it - it's the field containing "EMF" in the attached screen shot.) I can type into the filed, but when I hit the search arrow or the magnifying glass (to select a search engine), nothing happens.
I tried "refreshing" FF. It wiped out my add-ons but didn't change the problem.
Do I need to uninstall/reinstall FF completely? Would that fix it? Any other options?

Seems like you are restoring from a blank back up if it is still asking you those 3 options of set up as new, restore from itunes or icloud back up. Set the iPhone up as new then manually restore from a back up. Follow the steps foriTunes 10.7 or earlier in the article below as it is the same process for iTunes 11:

When you do this you will be able to check for backs showing date and time. Be sure to choose a back up made before you restored to factory settings.
