Serial requested on every opening Aperture 3.3.1

Each time I open Aperture 3.3.1 my name, company, serial are requested and also my aperture 2 serial number. How can I avoid that ?

Maybe you have an old "ProAppsSystemID" file.
Quit Aperture, log off and log on again. Then - in the Finder- open your System Library and navigate to the folder:
/Library/Application Support/ProApps
If there is a file ProAppsSystemID move this file to the desktop, also any other files with Aperture in the name.
Then try again to launch Aperture and to enter the registration number.

Aperture requests serial number after every reboot due to improper permissions on ProAppsSystemID

Background: if Aperture doesn't have write access to /Library/Application Support/ProApps/ProAppsSystemID then it continually prompts for registration information, and stores it in /tmp/ProAppsSystemID. On restart this tmp file is removed, and thus re-requested every time.
The resolution for this issue is to:
open Aperture and re-enter your registration / serial number (for the last time)
close Aperture
Execute these commands in your terminal:
mv /tmp/ProAppsSystemID ~/Library/Application\ Support/Aperture
sudo rm /Library/Application\ Support/ProApps/ProAppsSystemID
sudo ln -s ~/Library/Application\ Support/Aperture/ProAppsSystemID \
/Library/Application\ Support/ProApps/ProAppsSystemID
restart Aperture
What we are doing here is replacing the actual license file with a link to the same file where we can write to it.
Question: why is this required? Files like this should be stored in ~/Library/... or created only during registration, with admin prompt, and then read only from then on.

Your replies on this issue elsewhere lead me to the solution.
The issue is that the *installer* doesn't require write access, but actually Aperture itself, every time it runs. That's crazy given I'm not changing the licence every time. The upgrade to Aperture came via the App Store, so I'm at a loss why it requires these broken unix permissions to run *every* time.
User differs on “Library/Application Support/ProApps”; should be 0; user is 502.
If you use disk utility to repair permissions, it will fix these broken permissions, and again Aperture will prompt you for licence information every time. So Apple needs to fix this, and store the licences where everybody else does in /Library/Preferences and fix their application to use read-only permissions on startup.
This might vary on how the application was installed, maybe the full App Store release doesn't do this any longer.
I don't have a Library/ProApps folder, and I don't run my mac users with Admin permissions by default, it's a classic security risk. I guess this is why you're not seeing this issue.

Store saleman tell me I can retore my existing program and files from old MacBook Pro to new MacBook Pro computer. After files transfer it seem to be OK. But only Aperture has a problem when every time I open Aperture to edit photos, MacBook Pro ask me to key in the Aperture Serial Number that made me so inconvinent. Either the license files were not transferred or it has to be relicensed.
Remove and then re-install aperture. On an rMBP this should take only a couple of minutes.

Licensing serial number required every time I open Aperture

At some point did you have a version of Aperture that you acquired from a distribution stream other than the Mac App Store (MAS)?
I suggest using an app, such as AppCleaner, to completely remove Aperture from your Mac and then download the app again from the Purchases list in the MAS Purchases pane.

Problems opening Aperture onto new iMac

I had to replace a malfunctioning iMac with Aperture installed on it with a new iMac. A data transfer moved everything from the old to new. No. Aperture, like every program I know of, separates program files from data files. Deleting and/or installing the Aperture program should have no effect whatsoever on your Aperture Libraries, wherever they are. Generally, your Aperture program file is in your Applications folder, and your Libraries are stored in your Documents folder. You might want to confirm that the move from old to new brought over your Aperture Libraries intact.

After restoring files with Time Machine, I can´t open Aperture

My HD broke and I had to change it for a new one. I had copy of everything in Time Machine. I restored it with no problem, but now I every time I try to open Aperture, it quits.

Why "slow server alert" when NO running requests and NO open connections??

The snapshot below says it all. Why on earth would my dev machine with no running requests, and no open database connections, kick off a slow server alert?
I will tell you that at the exact same time this snapshot was generated, my other two servers WERE hung and were reporting "Unresponsive alerts", and they connect to the same databases. I am chasing down a chronic communication failure between our database and web servers where everything with a databae connection gets locked/hung at the same time every night, 7 days a week. The hang lasts anywhere from a few mins to 40+ mins.
Is this why my dev server would report slow? And if so, is it the skimmers or what that's causing a slow server alert?? Would it only report "Unresponsive" if there were actual page requests hanging, vs. a "Slow Server Alert"?
This is CF10 (update 12) 64-bit on Windows 2008 R2, IIS 7, connecting to separate Oracle 11g server.

I'm pretty sure the problem here is somehow related to my other post, but for shites and grins I would still like to know how I can receive a Slow Server alert when no actual page requests are running and it says there are 0 open connections to any of the datasources.

Can't open Aperture in Leopard

Hi,
I cannot open Aperture now that I have installed Leopard. I have the latest versions on a G5 Dual. The icon bounces then I get a dialogue that says, "Aperture quit unexpectedly do you want to report...". I have tried using a different user...same thing. I have restarted and repaired permissions. I also have Photoshop CS4 which works great and iPhoto is fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Same here. I cannot launch Aperture. Icon bounces about 6 times in the dock, then nothing. The startup window just stays there until I force quit.
I, too, have repaired permissions, thrown away aperture plist (preferences) restarted my MacPro. My lastest attempt was a reinstall of Aperture.
Still nothing.
I know its not totally a Leopard thing as I have been able to launch it on occasion. I have not been able to pinpoint why it works every once in a while (about once every dozen or so attempts)
This has me puzzled. Its also very irritating.
Anyone?

Cannot open aperture-There was an error opening the database for the library "/Volumes/TKR HITACHI /HI12.aplibrary".

When I try to open Aperture 3- I get this message : There was an error opening the database for the library...(name of library).
The last time I tried to open the library I got a window requesting a conflict in library data. It ask if I wanted to resolve it. So I pushed the repair button.

When first hooked up I reformatted the external as Mac OS Extended Journaled within Disk Utility.
I am not sure what HFS+ means. Can you help me there ?

HT3805 When I opened Aperture all of my photos are now in the trash? Help!!

So I open aperture and every photo, some 4000 have been moved to the trash file. They were orginally in dated projects, is there a way to put them back quickly? Please help!!

What is your Aperture version? I did this with Aperture 3.3.1.
Try, if you see the put back, if you only select a few images, that should be together in the same project.

Can you clarify please? You say you cannot connect to servers, then you say WiFi is perfect. Then you say it was OK until yesterday. So I am confused about what you are attemting to do...is it via WiFi or via your carrier data network connection?
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
