Serious delay in loading web pages, not network,  but  safari issue

After my last software update, I am experiencing delays in loading web pages, 30sec-minutes on safari. This occurs rather frequently, I'd say about 20%-30% of the times I visit certain web pages.
One example web location I noticed this happening is (but its not the only one):
http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caqc0363
Once I visit this page, sometime it loads fine, other times it takes forever (the load indicator stays on in the tab). Also, once the delay occurs, opening up new widows or new tabs to ANY other address are also delayed. It seem like all of safari is stuck waiting for responses. (safari itself is still running ok, it is responsive and there is NO spinning wheel of death).
It is not a network issue. Often while waiting for safari to load, I launch firefox, visit the same page and read, meanwhile Safri still loading, even after trying to refresh...I also do other network tasks, ssh, ftp, email with no problem.

Thanx! The numbers didn't help me anything, but your post reminded me: I found the DNS numbers that my ISP had provided that I had put in the Ethernet TCP/IP section in Network Preferences, and just copied and pasted them into my airport TCP/IP section. Worked great!

In fact, I am runing some plug-ins:  ClickToPlugin (Flash blocker), Collusion and Disconnect.
There is quite a history of new versions of Safari breaking third-party plug-ins/extensions becasue the plug developer did not have an updated version available by the time the new Safari version dropped. What you report--worked fne before but won't now--is exactly what history says happens in such a case.
First, turn off all third-party stuff and see if Safari smooths out. Alternatively, create a new user account and, from there, test Safari in its native state with nothing added. That is a good diagnostic to see if the issue is a plug or extension.
If either of those helps, check for updates to the add-ons. If the developer is slow in reacting to the updated Safari version, (not unheard of), stop using that extension until an update is available.

  • Delay in loading web pages after airport express installation

Hello, I had my intel imac hooked up to dsl directly through ethernet (PPPoE), and I had really fast internet browsing. I then got an airport express, hooked it up to create a wireless network, and it worked, except that, while loading a new web page in firefox, it has a delay of about 13 seconds before it starts loading the page (spinning circle showing in the tab). Once the first items appear on the page, its very very quick, but it just takes 13 seconds to start. Does anyone know what this means, and how I can fix it?

  • Mega delay in loading web pages - help please

For the last week I have been experiencing very slow web page loading on both a Win 7 PC and a Mac OSX, both are connected by ethernet to the HH
It takes about 20 secs to load most sites.  The browser start to load then hangs for 20 secs.
The HH was up for 3 months and reset itself two weeks ago.
Anyone got any ideas why this is happening?
    Ping times are pretty bad
Pingtest.net just now shows  271ms and 19 ms jitter
    Here is my HH stats

    Now email is also affected.
All three email accounts are intermittent, especially the BT internet main email account.

As others have had similar connection problem perhaps one of the nice MODS could actually find out what is happening in the BT network?

  • Web pages not stored in Safari

Does anyone know if there is a way to have Safari keep a web page in memory? If I leave Safari and come back to it later, it seems like most of the time, I have to reconnect and download the page I was looking at before.
I find this to be frustrating if I load up some pages to read, go do some other stuff, and then want to come back and read what I had already downloaded.
A good example is if I wanted to load up nytimes, espn, and some other stuff and then read it later when i don't have an internet connection (like on the subway)
    thanks
    bhavesh

And mail does that too. The messages and websites are -cached-, sure. But it seems they can't actually be viewed (from the cache) without the phone getting some snippet of data from the 'Net. With airplane mode on, or no internet (like the subway, as you mention), you can't see anything.
I was kind of disappointed by this, since Apple's manual says you can read messages that have been downloaded in mail [and see cached Safari pages?] when in airplane mode.
I have found this to be the case only with text-based emails. Anything with an attachment, including HTML, will not show without some kind of connection even if you have downloaded and cached it already.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

  • Content in fields on web page not recognized in Safari on Mavericks

Sometimes when I am filling out an order form on a web page in Safari and try to save the page some fields say thay are empty when they have information in them.  It stops me from being able to contiue with the order.  I fill out the same form in Firefox and it processing correctly.  I have noticed this happening mostly on State or Country drop down menu's.  Safari Version 7.0 (9537.71),  Mac OS X version 10.9.

You may need to disable, "Autofill" in Safari > Preferences > Autofill for some websites.

  • Delay in loading web pages using wireless after 10.5.6 update.

I've read the posts for the 10.5.5 updates, but I have been recently experiencing this problem after updating to 10.5.6.
It is seemingly a DNS problem because of the delay in "Looking up" and "Waiting for" in Firefox, but I do not have DNSchanger trojan. I have done everything from entering the known DNS statically, dynamically, OpenDNS on either or both the router and laptop.
I experience no problems at all when connecting to the router directly w/ an ethernet cable. And my download speeds, whether P2P or a large file through webserver is similar to what I experienced before the 10.5.6 update.
I understand that it could be my ISP, but I was surfing fine less than a week ago. Is it merely a coincidence that I updated to 10.5.6? Any further suggestions?

  • Web Page Not Supported by Safari?

    Hi,
I'm a College Sophomore who is taking a College Algebra Class. At first I was glad to hear all out homework had been moved to the computer I had an excuse to be on the computer longer, but as soon as i log into the site it notifies me that i'm using an incorrect browser and recommends Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0. I try again using Firefox and get the same message, i'm starting to relize it may only be possible to access the site from IE, but Microsoft has disallowed Macs from using IE without purchasing Windows. I know this isn't a Safari Specific 'problem' but i was really hoping maybe someone would know of a patch for safari or another browser to allow it to work, thankyou I'll appreciate any help i can get

    You're welcome. Glad to help.
I dont know why a College level math program Online needs you to be operating Microsoft Windows XP
That's a good question to pose to the site developer via the "contact us" section of the web site. Amazing to me some web sites still provide content exclusive to one operating system. Perhaps, they haven't kept up to date with the latest market statistics and Apple's increasing market share?

  • Browsers not loading web pages.

Hi there I'm hoping someone can help me with this.
This evening I logged on to my mac to find that none of my browsers (Safari, Chrome and Firefox) could load web pages. My MacBook Pro connects to the Internet via wifi. All other devices (wired and wireless) connected to the router work and even when the mac is hard wired it works. I have a bootcamp install of windows that works fine.
I tried loading all 3 browsers on another users account to no avail as well as attempting it in a guest account. I also attempted to load pages whilst booted in safe mode again to no avail. The strange thing is, when I connect to my universities VPN the browsers all work fine.
I have also noticed that applications installed that show in the menu bar (weather, Dropbox etc) do not work unless the mac is hard wired (or connected to the VPN wirelessly).
Can anyone help with this problem please?

First contact your ISP.  You need to confirm that the issue is not on their end.
Change your router channel.  Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router.  Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
    System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
    Unlock the padlock
    Locations:  Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock.  Highlight Airport.  Network Name-select your name.  Click on the Advanced button.  Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."  Click the OK button and lock the padlock.  Restart your computer.

    No internet connection (wireless)
Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

  • Web Pages not loading on Mobile Devices

Browsing web pages not working on mobile devices
I have bt inifinity 2, from my laptop and mac (with same wifi connection) webpages load no problem, from my android tablet and iphone (with same wifi connection) web pages not loading. On these devices I can load youtube videos, and apps have connections/load data, it seems to be limited just to browsing webpages.
I have tried changing ssid for the 2 channels, I have tried disabling wifi on the router, and using apple time capsule as the router, everything seems to result in the same problem, you cannot browse web pages on mobile devices.

  • Safari not loading web pages

My mom's Powerbook is no longer able to load web pages through Safari. Her email works, as does iChat, so it isn't her internet connection. Other users on the same network can load web pages, so it isn't the service provider. I have had her reset safari, as well as remove the preferences file, and the same thing happens (the 'loading' message appears but nothing ever loads).
Any suggestions what to try next?
    Thanks!
    Brian

    HI Brian,
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache.
If that doesn't help, go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/ Move the Cache.db file to the Trash
    If that didn't help...
Go to ~/Library/Internet Plugins and /Library/Internet Plugins. If there are plugins in either of those folders, move them to a temporary location on the Desktop. With Safari open, from the Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences and click the Security tab. Make sure Enable Plugins is selected. See if Safari can load web pages. If not, move those files back to the appropriate folder.
Go to /Library/Input Managers. Move any input managers from that folder to the Desktop and relaunch Safari.
Might be a web clip causing the problem. Open Dashboard and remove any web clips.
If she is running Tiger 10.4.11, open System Preferences/Software Updates - Installed Updat4es and make sure she has the 2009-002 Security update installed. If not, download and install it here.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/SecurityUpdate_2009_002__Tiger_PPC
If her PowerBookG4 has the original hard drive, 40 or 60GB?, it might be a lack of free disk space.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

  • Connected to an active network but unable to load web pages

    Hi,
I am using an old Powerbook with OS 10.2.x and am trying to add it to an existing network at home. The network is a DSL/ADSL connection, which is received by a modem and is passed on to a wired/wireless router. I have a PC which connects successfully to the router either by wire or wireless and is able to load web pages.
My Mac, however, does not. It indicates that it is connected to my wireless network, and shows full signal strength. It is assigned an appropriate IP address by the router. However, I cannot load any webpages. All I get is a 'server not found'. This is vexing me, and I have been at it for hours, but no solution.
Let me add that with the same settings, I was able to browse on my Mac also yesterday, but for some reason, I have no luck today. Can someone please indicate what is going on?

I am having the exact same problems. My laptop (Gateway) connects fine to the router, but my Mac does not. They sit right next to each other upstairs. The signal will SOMETIMES come through to my Airport card and when it does it is at full strength, but when i run Safari, nothing. I have tried to enter all the information that my PC has printed out and displayed for me, but i have no clue what half of the things are. and my applecare has expired so the people at Apple will not help which is extremely annoying. Sorry i can't help. But if i find anything i will let you know.

  • Firefox will not load web page (I also have Internet Explorer 8 installed).

Fire Fox will not load web pages. It may have something to do with proxy settings but I have reset this to Auto-Detect which is where it has always been in the past but still nothing. Something has reset my proxy settings in the past which caused a similar problem but doesn't seem to be the issue this time. I have Internet Explorer 8.0 installed on computer right now and it seems to work.

After looking into this further I checked firewall settings in Panda A.V. For Firefox they were set to Custom settings which effectively disabled it. I changed setting to Outbound only like Internet Explorer and other programs and Firefox seems to work fine now. Hope this helps others who have experienced this problem. I have teenage children who use computer a lot (Face Book, etc.) so the root of the problem may have been Malware, Adware, or something else but hopefully Panda has taken care of this.

  • Blue banner bar not loading web pages

I'm having or have had for some time a problem with pages fully loading on Safari 3.2.1. Even now as I write this the blue banner bar only loads to about 75% and stops. Other times is less than 50%.
I have 12.1 GB out of 40.0 GB free on my iBook. I run updates and do disk utility weekly or as needed when things get updated.
Not sure if it's something in the system that gets stuck trying to search and load RSS feeds, but it seems to start there. Especially starts up when I use Gmail. When using Gmail the banner never completes and when I sign off the banner bar just does not ever fully load. I have to close out Safari and start over.
I'm at a lose as to what is going on.
I can understand that when I'm at a hotel using a low speed Wi-Fi that things go slow or don't work the right. But, at home where I have high speed airport it doesn't make sense.
Any thoughts what I can do?

I have been having trouble with my browser not loading web pages.  After clicking on a link or typing in a web page, the page will usually not load.  I have to reload the page a few times, then it will work fine.  I have this problem with all web pages.  As for pages like youtube, if I can get a video to start playing, it will stop loading at random times.  I can back up in the video and start playing again, sometimes this will lead to the video playing further, only to stop loading again.  Help please!

Try streching it with the bottom left corner. Also try view zom in. You can also try safari preferences resetsafari.
