Serious freezing after Mountain Lion Install
Preview, Downloading, Safari, and iTunes have all frozen up to the point where I have to restart. I get a spinning Wheel, but if I Cmnd/Opt/Esc the wheel keep spinning but nothing happens. If I download a file, I have to save it to the Desktop, and open it up from the application in order for it to open. Otherwise, it freezes.
Try repairing your permissions. Go to applications then to the "other" folder then go to disk utility, on the left hand side you will see a white box. Select the second option, usually called "mac HD" with that selected click on "repair permissions" in the center towards the bottom of the screen. Wait for it to complete, then see if this fixes the issue.
Also try to delete the caches:
Here’s how to clean your caches:
1. Choose Users>your user name>Library>Caches.
2. From the Menu bar, choose Edit>Select All.
3. Drag all of the items to the Trash.
4. From the Macintosh HD, choose Library>Caches.
5. Choose Edit>Select All, and drag the items to the Trash. You’ll be required to type in an administrator’s password.
6. Restart your Mac.

Programs freeze after mountain lion install
Since installing Mountain Lion I am having a consistent problem of my programs freezing, having to force quit and then when try to reset the machine it won't shut down fully and I have to push power off. This is occurring for all programs regardless of whether an update has been provided for Mountain Lion. I have a 2011 Macbook Pro with 4GB of RAM and shouldn't have a problem with running the new OS.
If the issue is limited to your user account try starting up in Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup because it runs a directory check.)
If your apps function correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Users & Groups >> Login Items and remove them. Boot normally and test. -
Problem with mail after mountain lion install
Mail has become sluggish to locking up after Mountain Lion install. I get the color wheel each time I start typing in an address to send an email. I also get the wheel when i am typing an address or name in any web page in Safari. Is this a Mail Problem or an Address Book problem?
It sounds like your computer needs to be cleaned up. Have your repaired permissions or cleared caches since you got the computer. Often times when upgrading operating systems permissions get screwed up and it causes issues. Go to disk utility in your "other" folder in applications. Select disk utility, then on the left hand side choose Mac HD then click REPAIR permissions in the center section. Wait for it to finish, restart your computer, then test.

After mountain lion install mac very slow
After Mountain Lion install, my MacBookPro mid-2009 version is extremely slow. What could be causing it to slow down ?
There are a bunch of threads about this. Use the search function and see what others are finding out.

After Mountain Lion install, my MacBook Pro's fan is running non-stop.
After Mountain Lion install, my MacBook Pro's fan is running non-stop and you can hear the insides working extra hard. Is this normal? It's very loud and annoying?

Macbook sluggush / freezes after Mountain Lion
I bought my Macbook Pro 13" in late Fall of 2010.
I've read several posts on here about computers locking up after Mountain Lion upgrade. But most of those issues involved the computer completely locking up. In my case I get the spinning wheel of death, but the trackpad is still responsive. I can "Force Quit" the open programs (usually) but it is very sluggish. It boots slow and shuts down really slowly. The sluggishness is intermitent thought and I can't put my finger on what is happening. It reminds me of my old PC days when you would get a virus.
Can you point me in the right direction for diagnosis that I can run myself?
Or do I need to head to the Genius bar?
What has changed in my usage lately?
Essentailly the same type of usage since I purchased the machine. Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, Chrome, Safari and Mail.
I recently "upgraded" to Mountain Lion from the app store a few days after it became available.
To my knowledge, all updates have been installed.
My Macbook has been running really hot (too hot to sit directly on your lap when wearing shots). This happened prior to my upgrade and I took it to the Apple store and they essentially told me not to worry about it. They ran some tests and said things looked fine.
Thanks!I bought my Macbook Pro 13" in late Fall of 2010.

After I installed Mountain Lion on my 2009 iMac, it will power off after I don't use it a while. It used to just go to sleep, I'd shake the mouse, and it would come back up. Now it powers off and I have to power it back up every time.
My Macbook has NOT had this problem since Mountain Lion install. It is fine.Do these resets to clear errant commands:
SMC RESET
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
The 5 second timing is important to a successful reset.
PRAM RESET
Zap the PRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys. -
Trackpad issues after mountain lion install
Since my Mountain Lion install, the trackpad on my 15" MBP will track, but won't select anything. Hot corners aren't working, the dock won't appear, etc. Anyone have any suggestions?
Got similar issues, no notifications and no switching between full screen apps (4fingerswipe). Some swipe features work, no secondary click in bottsom corners...Trackpad operational under Mountain Lion a total nuisance compared to Snow Leopard...PLease Apple, show some respect again to your faithfull customers and show some response!

I have an iMac 27 and installed Mountain Lion last week. Since then, after a deep overnight sleep, certain of my trackpad functions are frozen after i wake the Mac. i need to restart the computer in order to get the trackpad fully functional. Anyone with same issue or ideas?
I'm having the exact same issue with Mountain Lion on my 2008 17" MacBook Pro. I've just tried the SMC reset, so we'll see how that does. The problem was intermittent, occuring not after every wake--from-sleep, but every few.
Interestingly, my 2007 17" MacBook Pro is also running Mountain Lion (the oldest MacBook Pro than can!), and hasn't had this problem at all. -
Thunderbolt is not working after Mountain Lion installed
I'm putting this discussion again because the problem didn't solve like I thought !
As you can see from the title that I have a problem already after I installed the new OS X Mountain Lion. I got my thunderbolt to Hdmi adabtor connected to an LCD TV and it was working great with snow lepord. But after the I installed Mountain Lion. it won't even recognize that there is something connected and I don't see the options in my System Prefrences> Diplays like before.
I already run software update and it's all up to date and also done a PRAM reset and nothing changed.
It only ok for a couple of min. if I restarted it and without the sound working from the LCD TV.
Please I need help here.Well I would have hit repair. This might be stemming from a deeper issue with the installation. I've never seen that dialogue box before, and if ignoring it and booting normally worked for you then I say you did the right thing.
however
I would, go to disk utility and then select your boot drive and verify and repair disks and permissions.
if anything else WEIRD should occur, you may want to go to the recovery partition of ML (cmd+R while hearing the boot chime) and reinstalling ML. That dialogue box you mentioned is strange and should be noted. A reinstall will probably fix whatever issue comes up. -
Iphoto disconnected after mountain lion install
After installing mountain lion can't access my iphoto library?
Error message claims" iphoto quit unexpectedly"?you either need to run software update once more (there was a major update for a lot of iLife apps when ML came out for support with ML).
or you need to reinstall ML from the recovery partition after running disk utility and verifing and repairing disks and permissions.
hold CMD R to get into the recovery partition during the boot chime. -
Can't download updates from appstore after mountain lion install
after installing mountain lion, i cannot download the update for Keynote (version 5.2) in the Appstore. I get since installing mountain lion continuously (for 2 days now) a message dat een error is occuring in App store and that i should try again later.
try this:
system preferences - security and privacy - allow applicatons downloaded from: put a dot to anywhere.
see if that sorts it out for you.. -
Premiere CS6 crashing on start up after Mountain Lion install.
Hi everyone, new to the forum. I'm on a mid-2010 Macbook Pro i5 8GB RAM using the Creative Cloud, mainly Premiere Pro CS6. So, last week installed Mountain Lion (probably a mistake) after I read that there were no issues with Premiere. Well, since then whenever I launch CS6 the purple Premiere art pops up and I get a spinning beach ball every single time and the app doesn't respond. Worked perfectly before ML install. I have called Adobe 3 times...no help. I have done clean installs, cleared preferences, tried on new admin users. No luck. I'm not super tech, if anyone has any words of wisdom, I would love that. Thank you all. Let me know if you need nore info on the issue.
Did this issue ever get resolved for you?

Kernal Panic after mountain lion install
Tried various solutions on fixing this and its just become annoying and inconvient. Tried doing the Pram reset. Tried reinstalling mountain lion 3 times. This is just crazy. Every time I buy a new OS its always problems. I can't stand it. Next time I'm going to wait a few months before getting another OS from apple. This panic happens on a restart and when I shut down. Also happens to freeze after I close the laptop while its on and refuses to wake up.
