Serious lag in Windows 8.1
Hello all,
I have just recently got my shiny new iPhone 5S and thus found it necessary to use iTunes to sync local content such as music.
The problem I have however is there is serious lag trying to navigate through the system. I use two finger scrolling on my touchpad and this lags so badly it's pretty unusable, and if I click on an album the animation as the album art expands to show is also really bad. Finally, if I start to sync music with the phone the CPU usage rockets up to 90+% and again grinds to a halt.
I have used iTunes 11 on another Windows 8.1 machine which works really smoothly so I don't believe there is particularly a problem with Windows or iTunes.
Has anybody else had anything similar? I'm considering rebuilding my laptop with Windows 8.1 and seeing if that helps but it's a little extreme currently. Everything else on my laptop works fine which for the record is an i5 2.3GHz cpu, with 8GB of RAM and uses an SSD.
Thanks,
Also, what drivers are you running, specifically, with what GPU?
I ask because there are multiple sources for drivers, and some folks get them from the wrong place. The best source is the web site of the maker of the video card.

Photoshop CC Tranform lag in Windows 8.1
Hi
All aspects of transform are lagging under Windows 8.1, including rotate, free transform and warp. This is different from Windows 8.0, where Transform was working fine. On a 360 degree image rotation using transform I am gettng about 5-6 animation frames (very stuttery and unusable)
Running all latest software and drivers, GPU rotate canvas is working fine and smoothly. Also, what drivers are you running, specifically, with what GPU?

please help me with dis...
I am using iphone 4..32 gb...i hav updated to ios6..i am experiencing serious lags...watever m doin d phone lags n goes to the home screen...frequency is much greater..please help me with it...i even replaced my device but same problem on new one..!!!!Restore the phone as a new device. There is probably something that was corrupted on your phone during the update and has been passed via the backup to the replacement phone. If the corruption/problem is contained in the backup, you'll need to re-sync your data, and re-install your apps manually. Restoring the backup again will only bring the problem back with it.
If restoring it as new does not fix it, then make an appointment at the genius bar. -
SERIOUS lag issues with Intel iMac
Hello everyone,
I'm pretty frustrated right now. I've been having this serious lag issue with my new iMac for the past few days. I think it may have started after I ran the last security update.
What happens:
When switching between apps, the system will hang for 1-3 seconds between doing anything. This includes typing, mouse requests, etc. It's VERY frustrating. I have activity monitor open currently, and I am seeing both Safari and SystemUIServer hogging up the CPU resources like CRAZY. I've even seen Safari recently give a CPU usage of 120%, right before I loaded this webpage. tis isn't just centralized to Safari too.... I have the following apps running:
Adium 0.89.1
FoireFox 1.5.0.8
Safari
Activity Monitor
My Memory stats currently are:
175MB Wired
708MB Active
618MB Inactive
1.47GB Used
There should be no reason I'm getting these lags with just two web browsers and a chat client open.
Has anyone else expierenced the lags?? Any suggestions? I'm almost ready to reinstall OS X and not run the last security update. Thanks

Are you running any maintenance scripts on a regular basis?
http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/maintscripts.html
I would manually run this script from The X Lab, and my load times would improve greatly. The problem was, I would forget to run them untill I noticed web pages loading slow or iTunes and iPhoto taking for ever. It wasn't untill someone here in discussions suggested Anacron that I saw the light. WOW what a difference Anacron has been making in my overall system speed. My iMac has not been shutdown for 11days 5hrs 34mins (sleep or use only) and opening new App's, switching App's and web pages load as fast or faster than after a fresh start up. If your system is operating properly and you are having only what seems to be a slow or sluggish issue Anacron will make a difference.

Powerbook g4 cannot stream any video without serious lag issues
hi guys
have a solid older g4 powerbook 1.33 ghz 1.25 ram powerbook i gave to my gf as a present. This thing just will not stream any videos with out serious lag. Even if videos buffer all the way it jumps all over the place.
Sites like Justin.tv we cannot stream one channel good, audio is fine but picture is unwatchable due to lag. I can watrch the same channel on my 2007 macbook pro and its totally fine. Any tips on how to get this powerbook running right?? Even youtube you can't watch because of laaaaaag. This shouldn't be an issue.
thxUnfortunately, our PBs are showing their technology age with streaming video's that have become more prevalent. You can take a few steps to try and maximize the performance, however, at the proverbial end of the day, if viewing streaming video's is important, it's time to upgrade.
First, ensure you have 10% to 15%+ free disk space on your internal hard drive. Less than that can really crimp performance.
Download OnyX and run the tasks on the cleaning and maintenance tabs. Before using any disk maintenance program, good data protection practice says you should have your hard drive backed up. (I've never heard of a data issue with Onyx, however). Download from: http://www.titanium.free.fr/download.php?sid=e115f3f4154a6c53a8426d0c4b8a52a5
Periodically run the Apple hardware test or either of the TechTool programs to ensure there's not any sick hardware getting in the way.
Bring up the activity monitor and on the system memory tab look at page ins and outs. If page outs are 10% or more of page ins, you can use more memory for what you run. -

Serious lagging, spinning beach ball - about to switch NLE's
I'm beginning a commercial edit with a fast turnaround. To prepare, I bought a top of the mac pro - literally, the best you can get as far as I know.
12-core, 3.06ghz, 128gb of ram, ATI Radeon 5870, SSD system drive. I'm editing off of a 6gb/s G-Raid ESpro fiber RAID with an ATTO controller card. The computer is only two weeks old and the only software on is in FCPX and a few other quicktime and RED programs. No FCP7 to compete with, permissions are in tact, etc. I have iStat installed and all temperatures, hard drives, ram, and other hardware looks normal. Nothing is being taxed when I'm editing, so I believe it's a software issue.
Editing ProRes (regular) 422 video, 1920x1080 23.98. I'm not using proxies, because my understanding was, with this type of machine I wouldn't have to. Project and event files are saved to the external fiber drive.
But I'm getting a serious lag on everything... moving a clip, stutters in the timeline when I click and drag. When I hit playback, I would say about half of the time, i get a spinning wheel for anywhere from 2-20 seconds.
I'm 3 days into this edit, but very seriously considering performing a system restore and installing FCP7 to get the job done. This is no easy task, with over 2 terabytes of footage and many clips already tagged and prepped, but I'm willing to do it if it fixes this.
Anyone else have experience with this? I've been reading it may be a Mountain Lion (10.8.3) issue, but considering I couldn't a new computer with a different OS, how do I solve this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.I've taken out 4 sticks of ram to run 64gb. It's paired correctly on 1, 3, 5, and 7. Still issues.
Playback preferences are set to 'better performance'.
I've moved all my event and project files to my system SSD and got rid of all unused projects/events that fcp sees.
I will buy the digital rebellion program and try trashing preferences, but I've done that in the past on previous machines w/ fcp7. It would work for small quirks, but this feels like something more significant.
I'll be calling Apple today... with our tight deadlines, I'm just bearing through it since we don't have 2 days for them to run a diagnostic. But I'll see if they can do anything.
Thanks -
Re: Satellite Pro L650-1QG lags terribly Windows 7 64bit
Hi all,
my Satellite Pro L650-1QG started to lag terribly (Windows 7 - 64 bit, Service Pack): It now often reacts delayed on input (mouse clicks, opening new tabs in browser, typing letters in Open Office etc.). Sometimes the lags are 3-5 seconds, often more, sometimes shorter. In the meantime, cursor changes to "swirling ring"-symbol. Video and Audio sometimes staggers while playing e.g. Youtube-movies. This also happens in secure boot mode.
- I reinstalled Windows through Toshiba HDD Recovery.
- Windows is up to date.
- Drivers are up to date.
- BIOS was updated in March as suggested by Toshiba. Everything went fine for month after that.
- Avira Antivir, Windows Defender and Spybot S&D do not show any hits
- PC Health shows average CPU temperature and "good" hard disk drive status
- No fingerprint software is installed (which is suggested as a source for lags in the knowledge database)
Do you know of any possibility to identify the problem?First, thank you all for your advise. Unfortunately I still have the same problem, after trying the following:
- Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Software (11.6.0.10309) - as mentioned above
- Disabling TosSENotify and ToSWaitSrv via CCleaner from the Autostart - which amounts to switching of Toshiba HDD Protection, I think
- Deactivating the Wireless Adapter and Ethernet Adapter in the Device Manager
Obviously the notebook worked somewhat faster, but I still encounter the short freeze periods. Oh dear... -
Hi,
I recently bought a SE2200a. It's running through a Focusrite Safire Firewire. I'm having serious lag issues in projects with a lot of midi in! Even with the buffer size right down, it still has a lot of lag. If I open a whole new project, I no longer have this issue. Is there anything I can do to solve this, or am I going to just have to bounce down the track and record the vocals in another project?
Cheers,
TomBasically,
All the midi instruments are internal (the ones that came with logic). I've got 5 or 6 audio tracks which were recorded in the jack inputs of the interface. I'm now using the three pin so I've got phantom power for the mic (haha). It's just that it doesn't do it in some other projects?
The forcusrite control program is a nightmare, nothing makes sense!
edit:
I've opened up a whole new blank project, and selected to add audio - then enabled it to record. This works with no lag what so ever. Is there any way I can copy and paste everything into this new project to see if it will work?

Serious Lag with OS4 update on 8gb iPod Touch, help with firmware rollback
Hey all,
I updated my 8gb 3rd Gen iPod Touch to the 4.0 OS today and now i'm experiencing serious lag with everything. I want to roll back to an earlier OS, say 3.1.2 or 3.2 but I cant find anywhere to download a copy, its like apple force you to update then leave you fending for yourself with no options to download previous versions.
Can anyone help?
Any other 8gb Touch owners having similar issues? Really not worth it just for folders and spell check...
Oh and Apple should be disgusted at how hard it is to find the link to make your own topics on this site, I'm a fairly skilled user and I was chasing my tail for a good 30min...
Firstly **** this place makes it hard to find how to post a topicI find it comical that EVERYONE was complaning about the lost of features for 2nd gen ipod touchs, yet even now people complain of lag issues, imagine if apple DID put multi tasking and wallpaper on the 2nd gen.

Haha, I think its because of the logic we are using, cause I am a skilled user as well, and I had never attempted to make a topic here before either, I spent 10 mins looking and gave up lol.

Photoshop CS6 Lag in windows 8
Hello,
I did a search in the forum, but couldn't find something specific to windows 8.
When photoshop CS6 was released. I took it for a spin on windows 7. Everything worked perfectly. Then my school offered it at a reduced price and we got a free version of windows 8. So i thought, why not?
Now i can't even use it! every time i use any tool that draws on the canvas, i get a horrible delay and the movements of the pen (Wacom create tablet) do not even register. I can't really do anything efficiently with PS now! My computer is old, I know that, but everything worked well (no OpenGL though) on windows 7, I am only seeing this in windows 8. I tried using the tablet with other drawing applications (mypaint, GIMP), works perfect! Really strange!
Here's what I tried so far:
1- disable tablet service (renamed to touch keyboard in windows 8), I read it would interfere with PS, no luck!
2- disabled flicks, didn't help
Here are my specs (don't laugh, as I said, I'm only using PS in basic mode, my laptop is 5 years old):
AMD Athlon X2 (dual-core) TK-57
ATI Radeon HD X1200
Wacom Create
Windows 8 x64
4GB of RAM
This is really a deal breaker for me with windows 8. i'm seriously considering a downgrade right now! I would like to avoid that, though, so any help is much appreciated.
WishingStar
Edit:
Okay, this is really strange! I've been working on a big project for school since christmas, so i wasn't able to test everything. I just closed PS and reopened it, now there is no lag! But now the pen buttons don't work! (I have to do the stupid windows click and hold to right click) and the pen eraser doesn't work at all (it works just like the pen tip!)
Now when I did that, Windows somehow decided to turn flicks back on! I turned them off and the lag returned! What is going on here?
Message was edited by: WishingStar5I can only tell you this: I have Photoshop fully updated to 13.0.1 and it works just fine in Windows 8. But I don't have the full Creative Suite as you do.
I really suspect there's something else gone wrong on your particular system, perhaps having to do with the display driver or something in particular you installed coincident with the installation of the Adobe updates.
On a hunch, does Photoshop get any better behaved if you do the following?
1. Go into Edit - Preferences - Performance.
2. Uncheck [ ] Use Graphics Processor.
3. OK out, then close and restart Photoshop.
I mention this because there are some known display driver problems with Windows 8, especially with ATI video cards/interfaces.
Best of luck in getting to the bottom of this.

Photoshop Lag on Windows 8 after few days after installation
Hi all guys. I need your help if anybody can help me. When I install Photoshop everything is working perfectly but after few days Photoshop starts lagging. If I unninstall it and install it again there is not any lag and It's working good but after few days the lag is back. I'm confused really because on Windows 7 there is not that lag (Just on Windows 8). I'm using Photoshop in my job pretty much and this problem confuse me.
Everything is slowing down. If I make selection it takes effect after 3-4 seconds, if I'm using brush it takes effects after 3-4 seconds too. Whole Photoshop is lagging.

A pedantic question concerning lag in window dragging...
...in compositing X window managers that support vsync/sync to vblank.
In compiz, when moving windows around, there is a one frame lag between the window and the mouse cursor. That is, the displayed position of the window is the same as the position of the mouse cursor from one frame ago.
The same one frame lag is present in mutter, and, on my computer, kwin and e17 lag by several frames.
Windows aero/desktop window manager doesn't have any lag between the window and mouse cursor. So how does microsoft do this??
Wayland/weston doesn't have this problem either.
(I have a nvidia gtx460 using the nvidia driver, but I'm pretty sure the above observations apply as long as one's video card/driver combination vsyncs properly)Try adding "nopat" to your kernel line in Grub. Mine looks like this now:
ktitle Arch Linux
root (hd0,0)
initrd /boot/kernel26.img
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/disk vga=791 ro nopat
initrd /boot/kernel26.img
This fixes a pause I get every few seconds with the new driver. -
Browser animation's lag in Windows 7.
I am using two browsers (IE11 & Chrome), animation's in both of them starting to lag after a while (tabs opening/closes in 2 frames, scrolling lag and any website layout becomes laggy). I can temporarily fix it by minimizing/maximizing them, but after
few minutes lag occurs again.
I thought it might be a problem with browser's, but then I installed Opera & FireFox - they lag just as well.
What I found out is that lag only occurs when I am using AERO theme's, on classic themes its never happening. Also when lag occurs in browsers - taskbar animated previews starting to lag just as well (opening in 3-4 frames instead of smooth animation).
Laptop Conf: i7 2.4 Ghz 3630QM, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GT650M SLI, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 + all updates.
What could be the cause?
EDIT: What I tried:
1) Clean install of browsers.
2) Video driver update.
3) Flash Player update.
4) BIOS update.are there a lot of third party software or services running on the background? Have you checked task manager, whether the memory or cpu goes high when doing the animation?
The animation you're talking about, is it being access on some websites? Internet bandwidth is good?
Or you're developing some animation and you're doing the testing?
