Serious Power option reset of Maximum Processor State everytime it sleeps, restart, etc

Thank you all in advance for any help you can provide or at least point me to the correct forums to post.
I just got my new T420 and I cannot enjoy it for the following reason.  Under power options, I created a custom balanced profile and set my Processory Power Managment settings to
-100% for Maximum processor state on battery and plugged in.... and
-5% for Minimum processor state on battery and plugged in.
Everytime i put my computer to sleep, hibernate, restart, shutdown, etc the maximum processor state always resets to 5% on on both plugged in/battery,
This means I cannot enjoy my new PC at full 100% processor state ever.  Is there a startup program that affects this?  I am running NVidia 4200 and Intel chips.
Is there a chance the Lenovo Thinkvantage power manager is interfering?  I have troubleshooted every setting on both to still get the same result.
Is anyone aware of have any input onto this?
Thank you so much in advance.  I am really desparate.    Lenovo support has not experienced this problem prior when I called prioirty support.
Nick

@test8545,
Try uninstalling the Power Manager and Power Management driver once that is done, reboot the laptop and install both mentioned software again via the Lenovo support page (support.lenovo.com)

  • How to clear power up reset states?

    Hi everybody,
I'm facing a problem with the motion control system, the system kept contiune showing us that the system is in power up state. we run the clear power up reset state program but we still could not solve the problem. Is there any other solution to provide me to solve this problem. what are the problem that actually cause this error state? this problem dose it related to our hardware connection or software setting?
thanks for helping.. really need the help...

    Hey Kuroro,
Usually when you call and run the clear power up reset state program, it should take care of resetting the state of the board. The next step to try is after you have run the clear power up reset state is to initialize the board itself. Go ahead and try to reinitialize the board after you call this clear power reset state program. You can either initialize the board in the Measurement and Automation Explorer, or you can use the function in Labview to do this. You can just use the Initialize Controller VI to do this.
Please let me know if this works or not. Usually initiallizing the board after calling the Clear Power up Reset State VI solves the issue. Keep me updated on what else is going on, i.e. what errors you are seeing or what else is going on with the hardware. Thanks, and have a great day.

  • Power Options Settings keep resetting back to default and system goes to sleep.

Hi I have Windows Server 2012 Standard R2 installed on one of my servers, in which there is an issue with the power settings. In power options it keeps selecting the Balanced plan by default. Even if I manually change the power plan it still keeps resetting
back to the default Balanced plan which in turn puts the System to sleep after 4 hours. Please let me know if there is a way to resolve this issue. I have even tried using powercfg -SETACTIVE from command prompt by giving the appropriate Power Scheme
GUID. But it didn't work either. Anyone please help me with this issue. Thanks in advance.

Again, this is something outside the bounds of Windows Server.  Windows Server does not do that.  I looked at default installations of both physical and virtual servers and there is nothing there to cause a sleep or power off.
In fact, the only real power setting I see in the Balanced power plan is to turn off the display after x amount of time.
Do you have power savings enabled on your NIC card?  Is there some setting in VMware?

    They do.
Standby = press the Power button
Power off = Press and hold Power button then slide the red power off slider.
Reset = Press and hold both Reset adn Home till you see the Apple logo.
This option will help to avoid pressing power button less number of times and gives better user experience.
Because it is better to not push the power button and more enjoyable to not push it?

  • Can't find battery power option for time machine

I'm semi new to macs. I've been messing around with my wife's for the last week or so.
I first upgraded her OS to 10.5. After the initial upgrade I was given both the
    a) battery power option and
    b) time machine in menu bar option.
Unfortunately after messing around with her sparesimage I corrupted it and had to do a clean install last night. After this clean install these two time machine options are missing.
Can anybody lead me in the right direction on how to restore both of these options?
Working with a Macbook with an intel processor. Pretty sure last night did all the software and OS updates, so I should be running 10.5.5.

    a) I don't need my laptop's battery status... I want the option to disable time machine backups when my computer is running on battery power.
    b) As my original post states, that option is no longer on the Time Machine preferences screen. It has disappears since I re installed the OS.

  • WRT300N: Please add soft power-on reset feature

I find that after being up and running for a few days, my router starts to route poorly -- i.e. forwarding traffic between PCs on my LAN gets slower and slower. Pings between machines show intermittent long delays.
Cycling power fixes the problem. I had the same issue with my prior Netgear G router and hoped that a different manufacturer would not have the same problem. I don't know exactly what causes it, but I've been told that over time, on inexpensive home routers, the routing tables/logs fill up, and then FIFO management of these memory resources slows things down. Sounds plausible.
In any case, the only way to fix it is to cycle power. Obviously, I can't do this remotely, so a control in the web GUI to perform a power-on reset (NOT a factory default reset) would at least make this barely tolerable.
    - OR - let us know about the undocumented web interfaces to do some of this stuff, if they exist (I can't imagine they don't)

There is a link somewhere for making suggestions. They probably don't have that as an option to extend LCD/backlight life.

  • Where does SMC get the power to reset?

Where does SMC get the power to reset?

The SMC is maintained when the battery is connected or the charger is. When removed the SMC's content is erased. However, if your computer has a PRAM battery, then the SMC may use that instead of the main battery. But not all notebooks have a PRAM battery but rely on the main battery only. All depends on the specific motherboard design. Typically, these lithium cells have a maximum life of around 5 years.
In any case you have not stated what you think the problem is with your SMC, so I cannot say whether your assumption about having a dead PRAM battery is correct. If you cannot maintain PRAM settings, then that would be more indicative or the battery being dead.

  • Zen polices on Power Options

    ZCM 10.2.2
I created two GPOs on AD2008
one is general user restrictions the second is managing Power Supply for portable PCs
Power Options (Windows XP) Properties and Portable/laptop
When I apply the GPO to my portable PC it is working fine.
I then imported the two policies to ZCM. I setup a relationship with my device (also tried user) for the power option policie.
The Portable/laptop doesn't seem to be working.
I then tried using AD on the Power Management and ZCM on the User policies
Once again the Power Management options aren't being applied.

  • ITunes disables Power Options- Turn Off Monitor

If I just run iTunes on my Windows XP PC my monitor no longer turns off after the "Control Panel->Power Options->Power Schemes->Turn off monitor" time period has expired. The monitor stays on contiuously. This issue exists even if I exit iTunes. I need to manually go into control panel and reset the "Turn off monitor" setting.
I suppose there might be a reason iTunes wants to disable this when it's executing but how about putting this energy saving setting back they way it found it when I exit iTunes.
Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks,

  • Base on Power up reset error

    Hello!
I would like to ask a question. my motion controller after i put web browser program in it, it Red LED light up, that means got fault. now I can not find what is the fault. it said montion controller in Power Up Reset status, I can't clear it. after I initiallise it still not working. sometime it will generate a error code is 70072.
Really need help. Got any solution to clear Power up reset status?
    Thank you!
    Kuroro

    Hi Kuroro,
Thanks for posting on the forum, we will certainly do our best to help you out!
The Power up reset error can typically be cleared in several different ways. First, it is often possible to clear this error by going to Measurement and Automation Explorer and Initializing your Motion controller hardware. When this doesn't help, sometimes the best way to clear this status is by running a LabVIEW VI that contains nothing but the "Clear Powerup Reset Status" VI. This VI can be found on the LabVIEW palette at All Functions>>NI Measurements >> Motion >> FlexMotion >> Advanced >> Clear powerup reset state.vi.
One of these two things will hopefully resolve the problem you are experiencing. I am not sure what you mean when you say that you put a web browser program on your motion controller, but if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. As always, the more information the better!
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Power Manager resets Display Brightness (T 410)

Has anyone experienced an issues with power manager where the following occurs? I have power manager set so on battery my display brightness is 10 and on AC the brightness is 15. If I restart Windows 7 and am on battery power, the AC setting resets to 10 and must be manually reset once I plug in the power cord. I am running windows 7 64 (not the Lenovo build) but have used system update and am currently up to date with no problems listed in device manager. Any ideas.
    Thanks.

Is the setting the same in both Power Manager and Windows Power Options ?

Solved my own problem, so I thought I'd post this in case others are making the same (stupid) mistake.  We had a wireless mouse plugged into the new laptop via a USB port key.  That kept the entire laptop 'active' so it would not sleep.
