Serious probl;ems getting around this blackberry curve 8520 ??

My Blackberry has started to turn my photo and video files into a rem file ??? with this file ext jpg.rem -
I cannot open these files with anmy software that i have or can find !
I do not want my files to be names rem files - i want all files to be normal such as the usual jpg or mpeg video _
Pleae advise.
The setting are stuck on incrypt media files and when i choose NO! it wont allow me - with a message your IT policy does not allow for this change - I never set up any IT policy _ this is driving me crazy ,what do I do.
ALSO - My ringtone only rings for only 3 seconds and cuts out - I have gone through all the software setting that still cannot find anything to extend the ringtone beyond 3 seconds, so I never know when people are calling me and this phone becomes useless to me.....I have been told that this is a common problem with these blackberry phones ???  I have been told that i have to search for some arcane code on the blackberry website to allow me to extend the ringtone...I searched and cannot find any such codes ??
and how to use the codes when i get them,this i also do not know.
I have tried to update the software four times, but it will not update ?
What do I do ? Did i make a mistake buying a blackberry ?

Welcome to the support community!
Sorry to hear about the issue you're having with your battery. To rule out any issue with the battery itself that may be causing this, I would recommend trying another battery that you know to be working correctly.
If that doesn't help, then please try to first back up all your data using the BlackBerry® Desktop Software and then perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software. For further steps, please see the following KB articles.

    Do you have a media card installed? If so, remove the battery while the phone is powered on, remove the media card (leave it out), then reinsert the battery and let the phone fully reboot. See if that makes a difference or not.

    Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

    To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

    I subscibe to music match under my account but it wont let me put my music on her ipad under hers or even my itunes account.  I get some sort of 90 day error message.  How do i get around this so I can let her have my music on her ipad?

    iTunes Match is not sharable across Apple IDs. The best way to get the music on her iPad is to leave hers signed into her Apple ID on the iTunes Store and sync via USB.

  • HT2518 How do you reset the password on a migrated user account? Mac wants the old password putting in before we can set a new password and the old password won't work.  How do we get around this?

    Used Migraton Assist to transfer data from old Dell PC onto new Macbook Pro.  Data has come across but cannota access the User Account from the Dell.  It is displayed on the desktop of the Mac but is requesting and new password.  Before we can reset the password we have to put in the old password.  We have put in the old password but it doesn't work and therefore we can't reset the password and get into the User Account. 
    How do we get around this problem so that we can access the User Account.
    Although the data has transferred we cannot see our contacts transferred from Outlook into Mail.  We are wondering if they are contained within our User Account, but can't find out until we can access the it?
    Help wold be much appreciated.

    If you have an iBook G4, (PPC) you can't do much.
    But if that is a MacBook (intel) you may be able to

    If the computer is not already at OS X 10.6.8,
    it can't go online to get or use OS X 10.7.5. So,

    When you find the serial number, there is a web
    page that can be used to identify by serial no.

    That'd be a first step. Or even the Model number
    which should be visible on the outer case by hinge.

    - Try contacting iTunes for the password problem:
    Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us
    - For the other problem you can try a reset. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - The next standard thing to do is to download/install a new app but you cant 'do that.
    - Instead, try restoring from backup.

    If you are in the UK, and the film studio allows re-downloading, and you are signed in with the same account that you bought them with, then they might show under the Purchased link under Quinklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page for re-downloading - if they don't show then check to see if they are hidden (hiding and unhiding).
    But you should be keeping and maintaining your own backup of your downloads and noy rely on being able to re-download any item as they are occasionally removed from the store by the content provider (film studio, tv company, record company etc).
