Serious problem, tried everything.

My nano worked ok for about 3 months, all of a sudden, it went bezerk, when i played a song, it never played it, it just skipped to the next song, then the next, then the next...without playing any of them.
At that point itunes had stoped reconizing it (no ipod icon)
I updated it (i thought succesfully), but all the songs disapeared which i thought only happens when u restore. Apperantly though the disk space that my old songs and pictures took up is still being used even though the songs aren't there. Itunes still didn't recognize it.
Uninstalled,Installed, updated itunes several times, nothing. Tried to restore, the ipod program now didn't recognise it, it either asked me to plug in the ipod even though it was already plugged in, or said the device wasn't compatible with the program. I did the 5 r things, and that was just a waste of time. I put it in disk mode to restore it, still didn't work. This is really annoying me and i would really like some useful suggestions. thanks
compaq presario 1600 notebook   Windows XP

I've put the ipood on disk mode, and when i go to ipod updater it just says initializing... forever. i then go to task manager to quit the program and try again. Then it says, cannot open ipod updater because another program is using ipod. Back to task manager and i see that a program called ipodservice.exe is open (this apperantly opens when you open updater), so i close it, run updater again then i'm back to it initializing forever again. This is really annoying, i've already wasted so much time on this, its unbelievable. Is there anybody at apple we can email to solve this problem? Im in bulgaria (got hte ipod from chicago though)now so its kida hard to call anyone or return it!

  • GUI Problem, Tried everything!

So, I've got "Secrets" installed. It's a fun little add on that adds a lot of useful preferences, and browsing through it tonight I decided to see what "Use Metal Appearance in All apps" under "system" did. Apparently, it changes all your windows from the default gradient look to a flat metal look. Nifty, but I liked the regular skin better, so I unchecked the box and hit revert, and restarted.
    Here's where the fun starts.
Though that should've reverted everything back to normal, it instead made finder permanently look inactive (Traffic lights and buttons will appear active, though gradient color is white.) With metal windows enabled, windows always appear active, even when inactive. When I try to disable it and go back to normal, windows always display inactive, even when active.
I tried everything I could possibly think of to fix this, from entering something into terminal I found online that supposedly cures it, to installing Themepark and re-theming Leopard, to uninstalling secrets.. Finally in exasperation, I tried reinstalling Snow Leopard.
Nothing has worked, and I don't have the technical know-how of OS X's inner workings to fix it myself, though I'm sure there's something buried somewhere in system files or a terminal command that'd fix this? I'd really appreciate any help!

This is probably just something stuck in your home preferences folder somewhere..
try creating a new user and see if the problem persists.. I'm guessing not.
If the new user does NOT have the same problem, muck around in your home/library/preferences folder and look for perhaps a 'secrets' files... just delete it, log out and back in... It is most likely just a simple file you need to delete to have the OS re-generate the correct one for you... logging out and back in after you delete a preferences file should do this.

  • Serious Issues tried everything, about to give up

    Hey there,
    Here's the story:
Downloaded some new music for the first time in a couple weeks, went to plug my 3rd gen iTouch in to sync and iTunes said I had an update available for iTunes and Itouch, both got updated. After iTunes finished, iTouch wasn't being discovered. I tried to restore, which deleted all my music from my ipod and left me with the connect to itunes screen. After about 2 weeks of searching the net and trying different things I finally got iTunes to recognize it again by having to use Windows Vista working information to overwrite some stuff on my Windows 7 Itunes. Now it says I need to connect it to another computer to restore (error message 13). So i do this... All is well again! Yay! Not so much, now i have to rewrite my iTunes library and figure out why my Wifi and bluetooth are greyed out and not accessible. I decide its not really worth it right now, i'm not to worried about the wifi so i just rewrite the library. I sync all my music, test it out and everything works. So i decided to try the wifi this morning just in case, start with the basics by turning the ipod off and letting iTunes turn it back on when connected, MISTAKE! Now im back to the connect ipod to itunes screen and error message 13. This is getting EXTREMELY annoying...
Anyone know what to do to fix my error message 13 and wifi?

Same thing happend to me and my daughter, ended up with 2 comatose touches. Apple was no help (big surprise!). My son is a Mac fan and was able to restore everything on his Mac but all was lost again when synced to my HP or Dell, finally got it to be a toy with apps but no music. ****** as I am at Apple, I bought a Mac and got another touch for free, synced my old touch to the Mac and all is well. Buying a Mac may not be the best alternative if you are not in the market for one--Apple answering a question would be a better alternative. Obviously my 2 are not the only Touches to experience this problem and Apple will do nothing! Apple Store was very helpful but their thoughts, recommendations, etc. didn't seem to match corporate Apple's since I did what they recommended and basically got the middle finger from customer service and support at Apple. Good luck!

  • USB 2.0 PROBLEM, TRIED EVERYTHING PLEASE HELP ME, BAD COSTUMER SUPP

Hi everyone, I got my 6GB Zen Micro as a christmas present, I installed the software that came with the CD and everything was working perfect I was able to transfer music with Creative Media Source and do all sorts of things with my device, it was all good untill i got a problem with my computer and i had to reformat my computer(RESET MY COMPUTER TO DEFAULT FACTORY SETTINGS) i updated my computer to Windows Service Pack 2, i had that before i reset the computer, i reinstalled the Zen Micro Software from the CD that it came with, now when i plug in my device to my USB 2.0 port it said the device is a HIGH speed device, and the device wont function at reduced speed, now i tried opening Creative Media Source and it said it doesnt detect my device, now i tried going to microsoft's updates and checked for USB updates, It said i have all of them, i spent a few hours searching this forum but had no luck so i decided to post this my Zen Micro version is 2.20.05, I also wanted to know if there was a way to reset my device to its factory default settings maybe that would work, but i dont really want to do that because i have about 72 songs saved on it, it would take many hours to redownload all my songs, any Suggestions, comments, questions, is GREATLY APRECIATED.
P.S. I tried calling the costumer support and they had me on hold for about an hour then they wanted to charge me 9.99 for help over the phone, I CALLED A NUMBER OUT OF MY AREA WAITED FOR AN HOUR, WICH IS GOING TO COST ME ABOUT 20 BUCKS ON MY PHONE BILL, THANK GOD THIS WAS A PRESENT BECAUSE I WOULD NEVER HAVE BOUGHT THIS DEVICE
    Thank You,

A High-speed USB device would definitely work with a "low" speed USB port. No problems with that. Perhaps you can try plugging it in to other ports on the computer.
Next, ensure that you have the latest firmware, drivers and updates for softwares (mediasource etc.) ready. Your comp. should work after you've done all that.

  • That old 'disp+work.EXE dispatcher' problem - tried everything !

    Hi,
I have been having the same problem as described recently in another thread (but didn't want to hijack it, hence this new one), where when I try to run the application server from the Netweaver 7.01 ABAP trial version there is an error: 'disp+work.EXE dispatcher not running'.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, and this seems to finish correctly (I delete the folders beforehand as explained elsewhere). I have edited my services file to make sure the port numbers are correct (and neat !). Basically the program seems to start up (green background) and after a minute or so goes yellow (after the error message has flagged up).
My system is an XP laptop, with plenty of memory/diskspace. I am a complete newcomer, so please be gentle with me.
Any ideas ? Or has everyone packed up already ?
    Merry Christmas,
    Nick

Uninstall minisap installation. Than change computer name lower than 13 chars. My suggestion a simpler name like "minisap" .In most cases Microsoft gives complex computer name like yunus-ax8323akdm . With minisap installation your computer name is host name like PROD QA.After change computer name restart setup and re-install. You will see everything is ok. Sometime you have to start manually database from SAP MMC (console)

I tried typing the constructor correctly but its not working...what happens is that accordion opens with the default 200px height panel and then the others are frozen.
This is my CSS. I dont know what to do with the panel content height although I tried using it or not and the result is the same... I cant imagine what the problem is.

  • Screen wake up problem/ tried everything-please help!

I have had the my G2 since September and have absolutely loved it. A couple of weeks ago, it seemed to get a little "twitchy" with some erratic touch screen behavior (delayed responsiveness, over responsiveness, etc). Then, one day, the "knock on" (double tap to wake up phone) feature quit. Then numerous apps began not working correctly. I uninstalled the 2 apps that have been installed in the last couple months as well as a few others and the problem didn't change. Then, went to put the apps back on and the "install" button in play store is unresponsive. The rest of the screen works fine, just not that little button. Also, the screen that drops down to tell you the notifications on the top bar is super finicky all of a sudden. Checked all settings, tweaked settings, rebooted, Did a hard reboot, safe mode, and factory reset. No resolve. I am not a "heavy" user, only about 10 apps total installed on my phone in the 7 months I've had it. Frustration is  mounting and I really don't want to have to take it in. I've already lost all of the settings and everything I had to personalize my phone…Taking it in is last resort. Please Help!

Let's get your LG G2 back to like new condition jess28540! I had similar issues with mine and I resolved by doing a hard reset (I understand that you have done this) and removing an application that was causing my phone to act erratic. What I recommend is doing a hard reset http://vz.to/1bEaoQu (factory reset), then install your third party application one at a time and test for a few hours before installing another application. This process will assist you identifying conflicting applications, then remove them for good and you should be OK. Keep us posted.

  • M2V1 PROBLEM, TRIED EVERYTHING

I imported video in imovie 8 that has unreadable video in all players. The codecs in FCP dont seem to work with the files as they should, just as in vlc. I have used ffmpeg, quicktime with mpeg2 codecs, streamclip.
i used a hex editor and changed the m2v1 mp2v
this footage is very important and it no longer exists on the jvc everio
    help me.

    Hi Klaus,
Thanks for responding and for directing people to my earlier thread.
When the video is imported to the Apple via iMovie it is seamlessly converted "on the fly" from a .mod extension to a .mov extension. Once that has happened, there should be no need to do anything further, and certainly no need to change the file extension.
My suggestion to Kevorkian would be to put the files on a flash drive, and try them in a different Mac, to see if there is a problem that is specific to his computer. I might even be worthwhile to try them on a Windows computer. I have a lot of good luck with Pinnacle Studio 14 for Windows. It seems to read almost anything, and if it reads it, it can convert it to other formats, including formats that should be usable back on the Mac.
I do feel a need to reply to your other comment regarding JVC's strange file formats.
Granted, in the early days of HD camcorders there was not a consensus on the best recording format. I think everyone, including JVC, did their best to anticipate where this new technology was going, and tried to bring to market formats that would be compatible with the widest range of applications. The good news is things have now standardized.
HD is the most standardized. Virtually every "better" HD camcorder these days uses AVCHD with a .mts file extension. This includes JVC on their HD Everio models. We have been using this since 2008. As you indicate, it works very nicely with iMovie '08/'09 as long as you have an Intel processor. So, there is nothing strange about that format.
For standard definition, JVC SD Everio camcorders have always used MPEG2 with a .mod file extension. Many other brands use this as well, so it is also certainly not a strange file format.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
    Chris

  • Same problem, tried everything...

I have this problem, as well; my N97 gets stuck in "car kit" mode where the car icon gets stuck on the display, even if I turn the car off and leave, and turn off the Bluetooth on the phone. Nothing short of a reboot fixes it. And it loses connection.
I have tried to edit the Sync Mode, but it did nothing. I also unchecked every single option (contacts, etc.) in the sync profile, but that did not help either. I also tried sending an MP3, but it just says "unable to establish a Bluetooth connection."
I am running v20 and an E90 BMW stock car Bluetooth kit. Any help extremely welcome...

wait, what happened here? i was replying to /discussions/board/message?board.id=connectivity&message.id=28482&jump=true - how did this end up being a new topic? sorry...

  • Serious Problems trying to install SP3

I have a MacBook running the latest version of OSX; it also has the most recent update of Boot Camp installed and is running Windows XP, Home Edition, SP2.
I booted up in Windows and tried to download and install the latest Service Pack 3.
With the download in progress, it suddenly shifted to white text on a blue background with the message:
The following file is corrupted, <Windows Root>\system32\hal.dll>
Please reinstall a copy of this file.
Clueless, I tried to restart with the original Windows XP, Home Edition, SP2 CD in the drive. It gave me the same message as noted above.
I shut down by holding down the start button then hit the start button again. I got to the Apple logo and the churning gearwheel, but after five minutes, it got no further and I could not hear any disk activity.
I then tried starting up in Safe Mode: again much spinning of the the gearwheel, but no startup.
I haven't any idea as to where to go/what to do from here.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks,
    Bob

  • IPhone to Android iMessage problem - tried everything

    Hello there,
I just purchased a Galaxy S4 and am switching from my iPhone 4. I've read dozens of discussions and articles about disabling iMessage so iPhone users can text me, but nothing seems to work. Here is an overview of what I've done:
Turned iMessage on my phone off.
Deselected my phone number from OSX messages app.
Went to supportprofile.apple.com. Never registered my iPhone so there was no device to remove. Went to phone numbers and removed my number.
Went into iTunes, went to view account. Went to manage devices on iCloud and removed iPhone.
Changed my password at supportprofile.apple.com. Didn't sign into messages on OSX or iMessage on iPhone.
Completely wiped and restored iPhone to factory settings.
And yet, when my brother sends me a text from his iPhone, it goes to iMessage. Not a single one of my deivces is signed in on iMessage and my iPhone is currently sitting unactivated without a SIM card.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Problems trying to develop a template using Fluid Grid Design

Having serious problems trying to get a template to work using Fluid Grid Design with Dreamweaver CS6
I have develop my template with editable regions etc, however when I load it to make an html5 page and preview it on any browser it comes completely blank
If I do this on an HTML5 document without Fluid Grid it comes out fine.
I heard this issue is happening to other people as well
Need to resolve this issue as soon as possible
Your help will be highly appreciated
    Mike Riego

Before you create a template, you need to a) properly define a local site folder in DW. And b) test your prototype (Fluid Grid page) to ensure the code is valid and it works in all target browsers/devices.
When you're completely happy with your prototype page, SaveAs a DW Template and close it.
DW will create a Templates folder in your local site folder for you.
    1. File > New > Page from Template > select your newly created template from the 3rd panel. Hit Create.
    2. This is a child page spawned from a Template.dwt.
    SaveAs index.html.
Preview in browsers.  It should work just fine.
Repeat Steps 1-2 for remaining site pages.

  • I have a serious problem, I've tried everything...

Hi, I've had an iPod 20gb Photo for a year and a half. Everything has been great until last weekend. I plugged my ipod into my friends PC and his PC froze. Nothing happened for a good 15 minutes so I just said "Screw It" and unplugged it. I had no music on my Ipod, but the weird thing was, was that in my "About" section, it said "Songs: 0, Capacity: 0kb, Available: 0kb". I went home and restored it, but in the midst of Restoring it said "could not be restored (1418)". I tried EVERYTHING, I put it into disk mode, tried it, nothing. I used my apple Disk Utility, nothin'. I've done EVERYTHING. Is there ANYTHING I can do to fix it?

Since the release and update of iTunes 7, I have not faced any problem, but I heard a lot of articles from this forum about the errors 1417, 1418, 1428 and 50 etc. I could not make any suggestion and find a solution about it, all I could do is to copy some threads from some successful cases mentioned on this forum.
Until yesterday, I finally received a 4th Gen 20GB iPod (around 2 years old)from a friend and asked me whether I could fix it for him, which has been left untouched as a paper-weight for almost 2 months.
I tried to turn it on, and the screen was completed blank and the device looked dead. Before doing anything I prepared the following:-
    1. A window based PC
    2. A Mac computer
    3. An USB iPod cable
    4. A Firewire iPod cable
    5. An iPod AC charger
As the iPod was previously formatted on a PC, therefore I tried to plug it with a PC via USB cable, it did not response and not able to get recognized by the PC. I ejected the iPod and connected with an AC charger, after a few minutes, I did a Reset for the iPod
    How to reset iPod
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705
The iPod showed an Apple sign, it stuck there for almost a minute, the screen then showed a battery with an exclamation mark sign, and after a minute, the iPod turned off itself. I was sure that the iPod carried very low battery, and could not be charged by connecting it with any computer (both Mac and PC).
I decided to let it have a charge with an AC charger for a bit longer, after 10 minute I did the Reset again, this time a sign of folder with exclamation mark showed up after the Apple sign, and again could not get recognized by a computer.
I changed my mind, and put the iPod into disk mode
    Putting iPod into disk mode
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
Instead of connecting with a PC, I plug it with my Mac using a Firewire cable, it did not response, so I switched the cable to an USB, interestingly, the iPod got recognized and a window pop up indicating that the iPod needed to do a Restore. Therefore I clicked “Restore”, after a few seconds, an Error message pop-up with Error Message 1417, the sign that I have been waiting for quite sometime.
I ejected the iPod and the screen immediately showed a folder exclamation mark (a sign indicating a corrupted or a failure iPod OS). I am forced to put the iPod into disk mode again, connected with the Mac computer and open the Disk Utility
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
It managed to complete the Restore process, and started to sync with the iTunes. However, it got stuck at the song no.238 from the total of 2000. I left it for an hour, but with no process, instead the iPod became “Hot” and the iTunes showed an Error message of 1428. I ejected the iPod from my Mac computer, the iPod’s screen turn to show the famous killer icon;“The Sad iPod“.
This time it was totally dead, even failed to put it into Disk Mode and non of the computer could recognize it. Sigh, I hated to do it but I knew that I must did the following:-
Holding the iPod in my Palm, and hitting it on a surface of a Sofa with 5 attempts.
Did not surprise me, the iPod turned on and it showed the Language Menu on the screen. So, I put it into Disk Mode and connected with my window PC.
The PC showed a sign and indicated that an USB device had been connected with it. I opened the iTunes and did a Restore there.
However, an Error Message 50 showed up, but I were not worried about it, connected it back with my Mac computer with it in Disk Mode. As expected the iTunes opened and allowed me to do a Restore there.
This time it managed to complete the process and a window of register pop up. After the completed the process, the iPod started to sync with the iTunes again, which finally managed to complete the process.
I left it connecting with the AC charger overnight. In the next morning, I switched it on and have a play with it, I am so glad as it is working like a charm.
From the above experience, I would like to share it with the user the following:-
    1. It always better to charge with an ac charger instead of the computer, as when an iPod carrying with very low battery, it may not able to get charge from a computer
    2. Try to connect the iPod with a computer, switching between USB and Firewire
    3. Try to format an iPod with HD problem, with a different kind of computer e.g. Mac or PC, as the formats are totally different, the way it formats may able to solve the bad sectors on the HD
    4. It may get better chance to get your iPod recognized, if you put it in Disk Mode
I hope the following works in your case as I did.

  • All of you who use the 80gb ipod classic and have problems with it freezing and syncing with itunes...well I have joined the club. This is a serious issue with apple and they need to correct it. I have tried everything to no avial.

This is beyond frustrating. I just wasted 70 dollars between a new battery and gas for my ipod 80gb classic. It was having major issues syncing and freezing with itunes. I tried everything possible and noticed that a lot of people have been having the same issues with their ipod classics as well. I must have restored it several times and now it just totally bit the dust. Now I have to shell out 130 dollars to send it in to apple to be rebuilt/fixed. This is nonsense and I just cant believe apple isn't doing anything to address this issue. My ipod was doing great for about nearly 5 years and now  this. I even down-graded to itunes 10.7, but by the time I had it set up to try, that's when my ipod totally failed and will not even come on. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • Why can't I install iTunes version 10.5 or higher? I've tried everything suggested on this forum, my friend has a mac and she can't either and it seems like the main problem is the apple Mobile device.exe wont install and applesync

    Hey anybody,
Neither myself (running on PC windows vista 32 bit) or my friend (on a mac) are able to install versions of iTunes around 10.5 or higher successfully. This leads me to believe the problem isn't necessarily with our computers and there may be something wrong elsewhere. I'm not a computer wiz but I have tried most of the advice on these forums e.g. Uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting temporary files, expanding files and trying individual downloads and more. I can install older versions of iTunes where they use to combine it with QuickTime with no problems however this is no good to me or my friend because only versions 10.5 and up come with support with iPhone 4S and that's what we need. I managed after several attempts to install iTunes 10.52 but without the apple mobile device so therefor the iTunes wouldn't connect to my phone or recognise it, apple sync notifier also has problems and fails to start.
Please can someone help me with this, I have tried everything on the apple troubleshooting pages so please don't link me those. Or please can iTunes and apple do something in an update that corrects this problem because I know many people are having similar issues. I only bought this phone for the music and at the moment I feel cheated because I wouldn't have these problems with any other phone because I'd just be able to drag and drop.

    Hi there,
I had the same experience. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, with Windows 7 Home Edition, 32 bit.
I tried to install iTunes 10.5 and it started installing, then, just before the end of the process, came up with the following error message:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Of course, no information on what the program that couldn't be run was! At first I tried the usual stuff, like scanning for viruses etc. but nothing doing. Then I started Googling. In the end, I uninstalled all Apple stuff from my computer. A lot of it I had to do manually, going in to the program files drive and deleting stuff from there, but some of it wouldn't delete as it was saying it was open in Windows Explorer. In the end, I managed to delete the iTunes folders by selecting one of my mp3 tracks saved on the computer and right clicking 'open with'. I then browsed my pc to locate the iTunes folders still outstanding and was able to right click and delete them that way.
Then emptied the recycle bin and did a restart before going online and downloading iTunes 10.5.
Thankfully it worked, but its taken me a good few hours and made me really quite tetchy! I've never had this problem before, so I hope this is going to be a one off.
One thing that doesn't seem to be working is that, despite how many times I tell it that my preference is for the iTunes Media folder to be located on my external hard drive, it keeps putting it back to the C drive! Didn't have that issue with the last version. Grrrrrr. Arrrrgggh.
Hope you manage to get yours sorted - this is affecting a lot of people by the look of things.
