Serious troubles with my WRT110 router

Hello! This problem all started when I upgraded the machine I'm typing this on to Windows 7 Ultimate.  No matter what I did, it would not connect to the existing network. I finally found a way to get it to connect by entering the router's PIN number, but it effectively created an entirely new network. My problem lies here. I can create new open networks just fine, but if I try to create an encrypted network it will not work -- the computer won't even detect the router. I need an encrypted network because I'm required by law to have one in my line of work, and I have no idea how to set it up. The network is comprised of this machine I'm using, a Macbook, and a TiVo DVR, as well as my laptop which is in for repairs. I might also add that I'm having trouble with the software that came with the router. Ideally, I'd have a secure network with an easily memorable password so other machines can join. I have spent many hours on this and I'm truly at a loss, and some step by step instructions would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks in advance,
~Eric

1. You should always access the web interface through a wired connection. Through a wireless link you may accidentally configure the router of your neighbor. And of course you should also never make changes on the wireless settings through a wireless link. Thus, always use a wired connection only for this purpose.
2. It does not affect your network as it is. It only changes the router configuration. If you change the wireless configuration of the router it will, of course, affect all existing wireless links to the router (if any).
3. You should not choose a "easily memorable password". That's always a bad idea. The wireless passphrase is usually only entered once on each wireless device to establish the connection to the router. The wireless device usually remembers the passphrase. Thus it is better to choose a very strong passphrase, e.g. a random generated longer passphrase. That is much more secure.

  • Having serious troubles with clips on timelines. Any thoughts?

So, I'm having some serious issues with the timelines in Premiere. It's making it impossible to do any work.
Sometimes it shows clips where they definitely aren't, and then I'll click on them and then it will remember they aren't there.
Sometimes when I scroll left or right or up or down in the timeline, the clips just hang.
And other super screwy things. See the video below.
Things I've tried that haven't worked:
    Updated MacOS
Updated Premiere CC 2014 to the latest version
Cleared the media cache, both with the button inside premiere and manually
I can't copy everything into a new project, because I'm collaborating with others on this project by saving it to a Dropbox folder and we all take turns opening it. Neither of them are having these issues, and my computer is actually more powerful than theirs.
I'm using a latest-gen MacBook Pro 2.6 GHz with 8GB of RAM and a solid state drive.
    Any thoughts?

Don't worry I've sorted it! I just had to turn off Reminders as well in iCloud. Calendar then worked fine, even when I turned Calendar and Reminders back on.

  • Serious trouble with Videora!!!!!!!!

I have been using videora and it works fine for movies of about the length of 20 to 60 minutes but if I convert 2 hour movies or music videos that I downloaded from a website then after conversion slowly the video starts to come before the sound or vice versa. I really need help. What should I do???????

Have you ever tried a program called iSquint? I have had no trouble whatsoever with that program for putting videos into iPod format and then adding them to my iPod. I'm not familiar with Videora, but you should give iSquint a shot if you haven't already. It's freeware.

  • Trouble with D-Link Router

I have been having all kinds of issues with a D-Link WIFI router in my house. I am having to reset it on a regular basis. But the funny thing is that my mom who uses Leopard is not having a problem in the world with it. The problems I am having is that I am unable to get a connection after a period of time (sometimes a day or two of usage).
The funny thing about all this is that at home in my house I use a D-Link router (another type) and have used the Apple airport base station and have had no problems at all. Why I am having problems with this router is beyond me. Our WiFI network is insecure (its okay as we live in the sticks). I am clueless. My only guess is a incompatibility between Snow Leopard and this particular D-Link router.

So, at this point, I'm confused as to whether you have a problem (or not); if so, you'd need to share some info about the model and whether it is "g" or "n" rated. If you're not having a problem, I don't understand your post.

  • Wireless trouble with C4780 recognizing router with Mac 10.8.2

I had to reset my Time Capsule (router) due to Hurricane Sandy and my printer refuses to recognize my Network so that I can put in my new network name and password.  It won't recognize anything even when I connect the printer via USB to the computer and to the router (Time Capsule).  When I run those connectivity tests, it says the Network Status is offline.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is my Network offline because the printer will not connect with it or is it offline because there is an offline section on the printer or on the computer that has been inadvertently checked that keeps the printer from being recognized?

  • Serious trouble with syncing

A few weeks ago I've discovered that my 8G Nano won't sync after I plug it in, it will just freeze and do nothing - it will sync automaically when it's first plugged in, but if I want to sync it again I have to unplugg it and then plugg in again.
And today it converted all my music to a select playlist because I had no free space, and now I can't reset or restore it. It says that "all playlists no longer exist" and everytime I unplugg it and plugg in again, the settings will be just the same, with the select playlist.
    What can I do??

    Hi,
    Thanks for the response.
Well, I have it turned on, if that's what you mean. On both the phone and the computer (when phone is hooked up) I have the message that the last time I synced was 9/17/13. Every once in a while, while charging the phone overnight, with wireless on, I get a message saying that in order for iCloud backup to work the phone must be plugged in and connected to a wireless network. Apparently there is a failure to communicate with the mother ship, despite my following instructions.
My suspicion is that this failure is related to the failure to sync with iTunes, but I'm just guessing.

  • Serious trouble with new iPod - maybe you can help?

Please help if you can. 15 hours into troubleshooting this and I am desperate!!!
I just purchased a new 5th-gen, 60GB ipod. I already have a 1st gen, 10GB iPod. My old iPod is presently working great with no problems.
The new iPod, however, is not being recognized by my computer or by iTunes. And when I try to plug it in, iTunes freaks. It will stop playing music and freeze on me.
    Here is what happened:
    1. I knew I had the latest iTunes & iPod software on my computer, so rather than running the CD that came with the iPod, I just plugged in the iPod.
    2. When I did so, the computer recognized it as a new device and attempted to (I assume - not sure) install a driver for a while. This went on for about an hour, something seemed wrong, so I disconnected the iPod.
    3. At this point, connecting it always has the same behavior. It flashes "don't disconnect". ITunes freezes. Windows Explorer does not recognize or acknowledge its existence.
Here is what I have tried to do:
    1. I first tried installing from the CD. This installed an older version of iTunes on my computer. This did not help matters and stopped my current iPod from working.
    2. I troubleshooted this and managed to fix my old iPod by uninstalled all iTunes and iPod versions from my computer and reinstalling all of the latest bits.
    3. I have doublechecked my USB ports to ensure they are USB 2.0.
    4. I have tried restarting my iPod in file mode to see if the computer will recognize it then. No dice.
    5. I have tried an iPod reboot, obviously.
    6. I have restarted my computer innumerable times.
My gut says this is a driver issue, but I'm not remotely qualified to troubleshoot that. Can anyone help?
    gateway   Windows XP

Hey, I've got a few questions for you. 1. What kind of computer are you using? (ie: laptop, desktop, whatever else there is..) 2. Have you ever had the 5th Gen. working on you're computer? 3. Have you tried you're 5th Gen. on another computer which, in the past, has detected an iPod?
Done with questions for now I believe. Here's my story. My girlfriend got her iPod (5th Gen.) in April and right when she got it, she hurried over to my house because she's "technologically incompetant". Booted up my Alienware (now an artifact after being purchased new around 1998-2000) and installed all the gadgets just like the instructions said. After finishing all that, I slapped the iPod into a USB2.0 port and WindowsXP detected, found, and installed the driver for the iPod. I used iTunes to put about 500MB's of songs on there then sent her off with her new WORKING (at the moment) iPod. A few weeks later, I guess when she killed the battery, she tells me that her iPod isnt working.
    Long story short...
She's using a brand new Dell Inspiron [some number and letters here] laptop computer with WindowsXP.
I did everything exactly as you had described in your first post. Few things are different, her computer has never detected the iPod, WindowsXP never found or installed a driver. When her iPod is plugged into her computer, the iPod either brings up a little battry with a lightening bolt (like it's charging) or brings up the "Do Not Disconnect" screen. After a few hours of leaving it like that and I unplug the iPod, it hastn't gained any charge. I checked to make sure everything, ie: plug and play, were all working correctly and all that good stuff; however, one thing phases me. I took her iPod back to my house and tried it on the computer that had the player working before. After a minute of plugging it in, it was detected and I could add or remove songs using iTunes, in other words: IT WAS WORKING.
I would like to see some kind of solution to our problem (which I believe to be the same) so that I don't have to drive an hour away to the only iPod (Mac) store around to replace it (luckily it is still on the warranty).
If you make any progress, please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Serious trouble with permissions and ownership

My archive/install/Migration Assistant upgrade to Leopard has turned into a nightmare concerning 'ownership' of my files and hard drives.
To make a long story short, after many many problems wherein files and drives were 'owned' by me but unaccessible to me (often with two ownership qualities attributed to me- one "Read & Write" and the other "Custom", a situation I could not edit or change) I restarted with the installer disc and repaired permissions on my Leopard startup partition. It took several hours and went through thousands of files identifying "ACL" problems.
Now all my drive icons except for my startup disc have locks on them and I can't write to them even though I supposedly have permission. Carbon Copy Cloner fails to copy to the locked drives*.
This situation now obtains EVEN WHEN I BOOT IN TIGER: my drives have little lock icons on them. I thought I could revert to Tiger to fix this, but apparently I'm stuck. I need to know how to "unlock" my drives (and eventually return to Tiger).

  • Having trouble with passowrd for router :(

    Hi,
I have a Linksys router, model # BEFW11S4.  I do not have the software on my computer to create a password, therefore I used the linksys manual to figure out how to create a password using the internet.  I got to the correct place to create a name for my wifi and a password and did all the correct steps.  But when i type in a password, it does not save it and so i cannot make my network secure.  I do not want people using my wifi but I cannot seem to make a password for it.  Here are the directions i used:
[   To access the web-based utility, launch Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, and enter the Router’s default IP
address, 192.168.1.1, in the Address field. Then press Enter.
A password request page will appear. (Users of other versions of Windows will see a similar screen.) Leave the
User Name field blank. The first time you open the Web-Based Utility, use the default password admin. (You can
set a new password from the Administration tab’s Management screen.) Then click the OK button.   ]
    Thank you.

I think you need to be doing your adjustments through a page like this, instead of in your Internet Explorer browser.
    http://ui.linksys.com/files/BEFW11S4/v4/1.50.14/Setup.htm
    Go here
    http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/BEFW11S4
Click on DOWNLOADS and choose your model.
There's a link to "Where's my model number?"
Click that to read how to look for your model number and download the software that corresponds to your number.
Then you should be able to get this project completed, once and for all.
If anyone has any better ideas, or possibly even correcting my assumptions, please chime in.
    Hope this helps.

  • Trouble with UTF-8 and PHP-OCI

    Hi there!
I'm having some serious trouble with UTF-8. I just tried to insert a lambda into an NCLOB column in one of my databases and it was converted to an inverted question mark. I have verified that the string reaches my PHP script correctly encoded. Also selecting RAWTOHEX(column) in SQL Developer shows, that the inverted question mark is already stored in the column. So the problem must be somewhere between PHP-OCI and the database. Inserting a lambda via SQL developer works. I can also correctly fetch it via PHP.
    I'm using the latest PHP-OCI (2.0.8). v$version says "Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production".
The database is fairly old and uses WE8MSWIN1252 as the character set and AL16UTF16 as the NCHAR character set. Hence I'm using NCLOB instead of CLOB. However, I connect to the database with AL32UTF8, since my app is running in UTF-8. I was under the impression that this would result in an automatic conversion from UTF-8 to UTF-16 when inserting into NCLOB columns, but apperently this is not the case. It looks like there is some sort of double conversion, first UTF-8 to WE8MSWIN1252 and then to UTF-16, because some non-ASCII characters like ä (a umlaut) get correctly converted from UTF-8 to UTF-16.
Any ideas? I'm at a loss here. Thanks in advance.

    PHP OCI8 doesn't support NCLOB or NVARCHAR2.
    See NCLOB support in OCI8

  • Trouble with iPhoto after latest update for compatibility with RAW-files

Hi all, I'm having serious trouble with iPhoto since the latest update for compatibility with RAW-files for digital fotocamera's (version 2.4).
After connection with the camera iphoto starts up as usual and i can start importing my pictures. So far all goes well. After having imported my pictures (visual with thumbs and so one) and having created an event iPhoto isn't able to show any pictures. Stopping and restarting Iphoto gives a message that there are a number of photo's available that havent been imported yet (!!???). I can choose to import or ignore. Whatever i choose i'm not capable of visualising the photo's.
Anyone with a similar problem and the solution? Can i remove the update?
I've tried several camera's all with the same problem.
    thx for any replies
    niki001

Hi Terence, thanks for the reply (i'll wait with the downgrade for now ;-p).
I made a small step by step report of my findings:
    1. Attach camera to imac
    2. iPhoto starts up with previews of the pictures (so far so good)
    3. Give event-name and start import ( so far so good)
    4. 'Latest Import'-report all fine, previews ok, check with event : previews fine. All seems well
    5. disconnect camera, stop iPhoto. As far as now all seems normal.
    6. Restart iPhoto : Message 'iPhoto Library contains photo's which havent been imported. Import Y/N?'.!!!???
    7. Option Y : IPhoto imports photo's imported in step 3 in a new event box (shown as a 'black box' on screen). Last made event (step 3) shows up as a black square in overview all events. Double click on event gives empty squares where previews should appear. Double click on photo preview gives large explanationmark on screen.
    8. Drag event-box over screen shows thumbs within square, release event returns to 'black box'.
    9. Shut down iPhoto.
    10. Restart iPhoto jumps back to step 6 as long as i keep answering Y.(Each time creating a new extra 'black box event').
    11. When i now look within iPhoto Library i can find a map Import in which i can find back the last imported photo's from step 3.
    12. Dragging these pictures to my desktop (preview gives no problem at all) and from there back in to iPhoto simply recreats a new 'black box event'.
    13. In step 6 option N gives a message 'creat iphoto Library recovered'. In iPhoto Library map Import has disapeared.
14.When looking into map 'iphoto Library recovered' i can find my originally iported photo's. However same problem as in step 12.
I used aperture (trial version) to see wether the problem could be photo-related, but here al goes well.
    So, any idea's???
    thx

  • Trouble with WRVS4400N

Sorry for my bad English, I am from Russia :=) I have trouble with my wireless router. Firmware version is 1.1.03. When I have made any changes in router settings DHCP could not give me IP-adress via WiFi (type G 54 Mb/s, security mode does not important), static IP works fine and wired LAN works to. Then after any configuring router I have lost connection with it. Intel wireless software tould me that connection is establised, but I could not just ping router (no WiFi no wired LAN). When I power off device and starts again everithing works fine. I have tried to reinstall firmware again but no results. Router works fine if I did not made changes in settings. Othervise troubles comes back. Any ideas?

There are several functions in the area of wireless that require a reboot to get the router to work porperly including toggling wireless remote management in v1.13. For now the work around is to simply reboot the router and everything should start working fine. The request has been placed for Linksys to make wireless modifications to these features to automatically reboot the router when the "save" button is pressed.

  • I am having trouble connecting to my network all of a sudden. It is not an issue with the service/router. I keep getting kicked off and getting a ! in my airport... anyone know what's up with this?

I am having trouble connecting to my network all of a sudden. I am able to connect to other networks but not my own. It is not an issue with the service/router because other devices connect fine. I keep getting kicked off and getting a ! in my airport. Last time it happended I called apple and the suggested I wipe my HD and reinstall everything. I did and it did not work. One day I turned my laptop on and it connected no problem. Now it has kicked me off again. I tried resetting my IP address but that does not work either! Has anyone had this problem?

    Try this:
Apple menu / System Preferences / Network.
Click Location: and select Edit Locations..
Click + (plus sign), and enter a name for the new location - anything will do.
    Apply this.

  • Trouble with a Linkysys Wireless-N Router WRT-160W After a black out

So like the subject says I am having trouble with the router. Last night there was a major storm in my town and the power and cable were out for hours. When it came back (it was only for about twenty minutes) the network was there but I was not able to connect to it from any of my computers. The desktop however that was hardlined to it works fine on the internet. I've tried restarting the modem the computers, and the router, pushing the reset buttons, even holding the reset button to the point it made the router act like its being used for the first time and creating a new network but I still can't connect to it. I only bot this router a couple of months ago so I'd hate to have to buy a new one.
    Any help would be appreciate.
    Thanks.

Are you using Cable connection or DSL connection ?
If you are using cable connection then follow this link and if you are using DSL connection then follow this link to configure your router. This should fix the issue for you.
