Server 2008 R2 Essentials The review of license compliance is incomplete

Hello
We have a 2008 R2 Foundation Server for on of our customer, the server is the one and only in the network, the AD is working fine and DNS and DHCP also, but we get this error message The
server did not finish checking the license compliance. in German, but all other helps are useless.
I created the AD complete new and have the same error, Firewall is deactivated, but the port 135 is also open for the server, but still the error comes up. The DCDIAG shows that all is working perfect and the NETDIAG don't exist, NLTEST shows so far no error,
but nothing helps, the hotline is less than helpfully and in the internet there are a lot of threats open without an answer, maybe here someone know how this problem can be resolved, beside we have more customers with the same OS and they don't have this problem
only one.
Thank you
Kind Regards
Andreas

  • Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials Clustering

    Dear,
I would like to know the features of Window Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials. I also want to know if this OS supports Clustering. I checked on Microsoft Website but there is no information regarding this OS.
I have WD Sentinel 4100 RX boxes.. Can I use these 2 boxes as a cluster? And if yes, can I configure it as Failover Cluster?
I appreciate any responses. Thank you in advance.
    Best Regards,

This OS can only be purchased as an OEM pre-installed 'device', so customisation options are minimal.
There is no clustering support for the Essentials feature set itself, even if you could cluster the underlying OS.
Without knowing your game plan, it is difficult to speculate, but you may be looking for a full storage server solution.

  • Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials - Office365 Addon

    Hi there,
Sorry for the strange request.  I have a few of these "Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials" in the field(Provide by WD - DX4000).  Now
a few months (maybe always a year + Now), I was able to find and possible download the Office365 Add-on for Windows
Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.  It should be the same as Small Business Server 2011 Essentials.
I found a bunch of links to and that talk about the UP4 having it built in.  But I can't find anything or any links to download the addon. So unless I'm missing something, I can't seem to find it for the Windows
Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.   Now maybe I'm the only person in NA that is looking for this, but my clients are moving to Office365 and it would be nice to have all the username and passwords the same.
Now as i write this I'm think that the SBS 2011-E is built on a domain where WSS is under WorkGroup.  So maybe that's why its not available much.
Any thoughts, or if someone has a copy of a latest add-on and want to upload it here, that would be nice.
    Kevin

    Dear Sir
I believe you are mistaken. When SBS 2011 Essentials came to market there was no integration between Office 365 and the Actual Server Dashboard. (It was not ready at the time the Server went RTM).
At the end of 2011 the Office 365 team released the so-called Integration Module for SBS 2011 Essentials with office 365 as it is noted at the following Blog post:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2011/12/22/office-365-integration-module-for-windows-sbs-2011-essentials-released-today.aspx
This integration module later was included in a UR Package (UR2 if i correctly remember) so you didn't had to installed it separately. That is the reason that you cannot find the original Download today. More info at the following:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2630429/en-us
To concludethere wasn't a Office 365 Integration Module for Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials ONLY for SBS 2011 Essentials.

How can I fix this issue?

    Hi,
The issue could be due to the shadow copies on the backup volumes are corrupt. You could try to delete these shadow copies to check if the issue still exist.

  • Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials connecting with Launchpad on Mac OS 10.9.2

Note: Note to moderators, I accidentally submitted this to Windows Small Business Server Forums. If someone could move this thread to the appropriate directory would be much appreciated.
Hello we have a client which has a Mac OSX 10.9.2 and we are trying to connect the Mac Launchpad to the Mac. We have a VPN set up and it is working correctly so we connect to the server by using servername:65510/connect/ this brings us up with the correct
screen and prompts us to download software for mac, when opening we can get to the mac connector and we go through all the setup however when we reach "User Credentials" and we enter the correct password it comes up saying "Cannot connect to
the server using the name that was entered. Check if the specified value is correct and try again." We have set up macs before using this software the only difference is this is the first Mac which has been on OSX 10.9 Mavericks.
We have spent countless hours diagnosing and looking into all the possible reasons this could be and the only conclusion is that it must either be a software glitch on the Mac or on the server itself. I was doing some research and found a thread by a user
    named
ZconR on Monday, January 14, 2013 6:08 PM
"This is apparently a problem with Update Rollup 4 for the server.  If you remove this update it will allow you to move forward
with the installation of the MAC connector software using Admin credentials.  Hope this helps.  (It seems you can apply the update after the software installs and everything should continue to work.)"
This would fit in perfectly with our problem and I could not find any sources to confirm this information. Can anyone confirm if this is issue is correct and if uninstalling Rollup 4 will make this work?

    Hi James,
Based on your description, I can find a known issue for this
Update Rollup 4. Please check if fit the current situation of your problem. Descript as below:
You cannot install this update by using a Mac client connector that has Update Rollup 4 for Windows Storage
Server 2008 R2 Essentials installed. This issue occurs because of a change requirement for Mac external binaries. To work around this issue, reinstall the Mac client connector before you install Update Rollup 4.
Note: This issue only occurs on a server that has Update Rollup 3 for Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials
    installed.
    By the way, did
you install the Mac client connector by using administrator account?
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • We want to activate Windows Server 2008 R2 on the system where trial version is already activated,

We want to activate Windows Server 2008 R2 on the system where trial version is already activated,

    Hi,
Based on your description, I’m a little confused with this issue.
If you mean that convert the Windows Server 2008 R2 evaluation version to a full version, we can get following
details from this KB: Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 evaluation version
Question: Can you convert the evaluation version to a full version?
Answer: Although this conversion is not blocked, we do not support an upgrade from an evaluation version
to a full version or changing the product key to a full version key. Since there is no support for any type of upgrade you must do a install to new directory using non-evaluation media. If you change the product key to Full Version, the visual evaluation references
in Winver and as displayed in Slmgr /DLV output are removed, but the WLMS service remains on the system and the media retains its evaluation status.
Meanwhile, please refer to the following similar thread and check if can help you.

  • The license state for the current server doesn't match the farm's license state

I am trying to build a development Server, to mirror our Production Server.

  • Window SBS server 2008 and window server 2008 R2 on the same domain

    Hi all,
I am a person only work for linux system. Recently i work for my company that using microsoft technologie. So i have a lot of trouble. Could you please help me and below are my big troble that i have met:
In my system, i have the first window SBS server 2008 run on our domain. However my organization growth up and we have more than 150 users and mailbox of exchange server 2007. So i do not want to use my sbs server 2008 anymore.
I am going to install a window server 2008 R2 64 bit and join it into the same domain with sbs server 2008. It will be replicate the username, dns, OU and group policy...After that i will tranfer FSMO role to new server and i will demote then remove the
    sbs server.
My boss say that i should not use this solution because window server sbs can not run with any other kinds of window server 2008 (R2, standard, enterprise...) and it will automatically shutdown the main server after a couple of days.
Someone have experience can help me. I am so confuse now

Maybe this will also help to better understand the steps involved:

And remember, as long as you don't move the PDC to one of the new DCs, you can leave the SBS 2008 up indefinitely. But I would remove Exchange 2007 off it right away once I've migrated the mailboxes and public folders, otherwise
you will get yourself into an Exchange coexistence scenario which is much more complex to configure and support because of the CAS differences, changing the URLs on the old one to "legacy.domain.com," getting a new UC/SAN cert with the correct
names on it, and more. Believe me, you really don't want to coexist them. The only time I've coexisted Exchange versions is during large migrations, such as 500 or more. Otherwise, I just migrate the mailboxes over a weekend and get it done with.

  • Windows Storage Server 2008 Backup over the internet

I have a client that uses Windows storage server 2008 Essentials and wants to backup his employees' laptops at his office to the storage server standing at his house. I have setup the network at his house with a public IP and can access remote
website for Storage server. I can even access the /connect site and download the connect software.
Then I setup a VPN tunnel to the network at his house so that the laptops at the office are on the same network as the storage server, this works and I can install the connect software when a laptop is on the VPN, meaning the connect software setup finds
the server and everything, but when I try to log in using the Launchpad or Dashboard on the laptop it says it can't find the server. How is this possible if I just installed and setup the connect software? Am I missing something here or can you point me in
the right direction. The laptops even show in the Dashboard when I remote desktop to the storage server and open the dashboard on the storage server.

    Hi,
The issue may be due to the NetNatTransitionConfiguration is overlapping the backup port (default to 8912).  You could refer to the thread below to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Unable to install the security patches KB2677070 in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (The update is not applicable to your computer)

    Dear everyone,
We are trying to install the below KB in our windows server 2008 R2 SP1, however, it will show "The update is not applicable to your computer". There is no problems to install the other patches except this one. Do anyone have idea about it?
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2677070
    Thanks,
    Users

    Hi,
According to this KB article, there are many exceptions where this KB is not applicable.
    Please perform the following steps:
Expand the “For all supported…” title in the File Information section in the KB article.
Find Crypt32.dll.mui files on your machine.
Then compare the file version, file size, data and time with the ones listed in the KB article.
If there is a match, then this KB doesn’t apply to your machine, which is by design.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I recover a damaged SQL Server 2008 database with the undamaged .mdb and .ldf files?

Their original SQL Server was 2008, with SP unknown, but installed on D: and C: drives.  The power spike corrupted their O/S on the C:
drive and someone reinstalled both the O/S and the SQL Server, which is now SQL 2008, SP4.  They have intact files for all system databases, both .mdb and .ldf.  Is there some way they can reconnect with the user databases using the intact copies
of the previous system databases? I have heard that if the SQL Server is stopped, previous Master and Msdb .mdb and .ldf files moved into place and the server restarted, that any previous user database .mdb and .ldf files can be accessed by the SQL server.
Is this the case, or are there details missing?

    Hello! try this steps
1 Open your SQL Server Management Studio console. This application shortcut is available in the SQL Server directory in the Windows Start button.
2  Enter the system administrator user name and password. SQL Server's administrator user name is "sa." This account is required for privileges to restore the database. If your restoring on a host provider server, use the administrator user name
and password they supplied for your account.
3 Right-click your database name and select "Attach." In the new window that opens, click the "Add" button to open a dialog box.
4 Select your MDF file and press the "Ok" button. It may take several minutes to restore the database if it is a large file. Once the process is finished, browse your tables to verify the data. The database is now restored.

    Hi,
This issue occurs because the IPAddress registry entries at the following location are incorrectly overwritten by a newly added IP address instead of the whole list of IP addresses:

  • Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials Preferred Domains

In remote web access configuration, domain name section, I entered my domain name and the system does not accept it. It tells me to go to e-NomCentral and convert my domain to them. Surely there are other domain providers that are acceptable.  Where
can I find a list. I do not understand what is wrong with my domain provider. To my understanding my provider supplies all the requirements needed. So, what is the problem.  I purchased a certificate and I believe I installed it in the server correctly.
Can I get around this impediment using my domain and certificate?
    Mommio

I have resolved this problem and I will try to make a very long story into a short one.
After Western Digital told me they could not support no other provider but E-NomCentral and GoDaddy and consulting with my domain provider, I followed GoDaddy advice in setting up an Off-Site-DNS.
Basically making GoDaddy a relay service. Both GoDaddy and my provider offer this service free of charge.
As soon as I set up the Off-Site-DNS my e-mail server went down. I tried everything I knew but finally called GoDaddy for help. The tech told me my syntax was backwards and he corrected it. That fixed it………almost. Everything on my side of the modem worked
perfectly but on the outside, nothing. Every telnet I did came back saying ‘unable to connect’. Same results for all ports
     -  25, 110, and 587. My users were crying because of no e-mail. Remember, all diagnostics said that everything was fine on the inside but not working at all on the outside of the modem.
Frustrated, I started configuring the storage server. The storage server recognized that I was connected to GoDaddy, I then got the ‘configure domain manually’ option that Justin talked above. When I finished the storage server I got the same results as
the e-mail server…..’unable to connect’ when attempting to access from the other side of the modem.
I started swapping out units (switches, routers, etcetera). No avail.
Realizing that there was nothing left to do, I turned GoDaddy off. No adjustment to the domain, just eliminated the Off-Site-DNS! Everything started to work. Within 2 hours ALL e-mail functions were restored. Then it occurred to me, with the storage server
configured all I had to do was put the correct A record on my domain and the storage server should work, also. I created the record and guess what. The storage server works!!
Conclusion. Why did GoDaddy not work? I do not have a clue. It
APPEARED that the ports were blocked by someone. But who? Why? If not, why those results? All I know is both servers are accessible and usable. I thank GoDaddy for the use of their DNS servers in, I assume, fooling Microsoft’s firmware. Whatever the
case I am up & running and that is all that matters.
    Thank you
