Server 2012 Password issue on new domain

We recently setup a new domain controller running Server 2012 R2 standard 64 bit. All user profiles were setup in Active Directory. The default password we set users was Welcome1 and we chose all the defaults for the password policy. We set each account
to force the user to change their password when they first login.
The issue we see is that when a user logs in and tries to change their password, it will not let them change their password the way it should be. For example, the account "testuser" was set to Welcome1. When I tried to change it to
Atlanta@2 or Georgia8 or Nexeo+=7 or Kentucky9 it said "Unable to update the password. The value provided for the new password does not meet the length, complexity, or history requirements
of the domain"
I then tried to change it to Welcome2 and it accepted it.
I then went on the server and reset it logged in as administrator and see no issues (I can change it to whatever I want). So the issue is on the user end. I also turned OFF complexity requirements.
I logged back into the account and tried to change the password to Kentucky7 and it worked. I then did a CTRL ALT DEL and tried to change it to Kentuky9 and it gave the same error.
I'm not sure what is going on. Maybe there are time intervals on how often a user is allowed to change their password in Server 2012? Any ideas as to what is going on?

You must set minimum password age.

  • Cisco Server VCS C220 M3 Server BIOS password issue

We have a Cisco Server VCS C220 M3 Server BIOS password issue.
We needed to turn on Bit locker in the Cisco Server VCS C220. To do this we needed to create an administrator password for the BIOS to turn on trusted Platform Module (TPM). After we set up the administrator password and turn on Security for TPM. We were prompted for the administrator password. It would not let us log in with the administrator password that we created for the BIOS. In the next few days we received a BIOS is corrupted screen (BIOS Flash Image Corrupted *****).We follow procedures to recover the BIOS with the USB stick with recovery .cap file in the root folder. We tried reseating the jumper pg. 35 of the Cisco Server VCS C220 M3 Server of the Installation and Service Guide.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/hw/C220/install/C220.pdf
We were able to bring up the server, but we are still not able to get pass the Admin password issue. We tried to clear the CMOS header with Header J37 page 2-18 but we had no success with clearing out the password prompt. Figure 2-6 Service Header Locations shows the J41 BIOS RCVR boot and J37 Clear CMOS.
Can anyone provide us documentation of where the pins are located on the motherboard to clear the BIOS password? We are looking for more of a detail picture of the pins please. The documentation is only showing a basic diagram of the header locations.

You need to look at the CUCM logs for further info on what might have happened, and to make sure your servers are fit for the amount of users, devices, etc. you have in your environment.

  • WSUS - Server 2012 Client Issues

    Hey all,
I seem to be having a lot of WSUS issues recently. I have a pure Windows 2008 R2 domain in my lab environment. I decided to start testing server 2012 and I've added the servers to the domain. My first glaring issue is that after I ran the KB2720211-x64 fix
the 2012 servers are appearing as "Windows 2000 Datacenter Server."
My second issue is that the 2012 servers are unable to "check for updates" from the control panel menu. I get the following error: "Windows could not search for new updates" Of course the code is 800B0001. Any ideas?

My first glaring issue is that after I ran the KB2720211-x64 fix the 2012 servers are appearing as "Windows 2000 Datacenter Server."
That's because KB2720211 does not provide support for WS2012/Win8 systems; you need to install KB2734608.
My second issue is that the 2012 servers are unable to "check for updates" from the control panel menu. I get the following error: "Windows could not search for new updates" Of course the code is 800B0001. Any ideas?
Install the correct patch and follow the post-installation instructions in the KB article, and all will be copasetic.

  • Password issue in Transport Domain

    Hi
We was getting some problem while releasing the transport request in ERD (SAP Dev server). We was getting error 12. I tried different option but did not worked and then we decided to re-configure the Transport domain (deleted old trasnport route using SE06 and then re-created transport domain using STMS). Now, ERD is the domain controller and ERQ (QA server) and ERP (Producation server) is the part of domain controller. I created one test transport request in ERD and moved to ERQ.
Everything work fine but have one issue. When i was creating the domain controller using my user ID in client 000 (with sap_all authorization), it asked me couple of times password for productive client and client 000. When i was adding ERQ and ERD, it again asked for my passwords (2 to 3 times for each system). I'm not able to understand it.
I created transport request in ERD and release it. When i was trying to move the same transport to ERQ server (i logged on ERQ server to transport request), it again asked password for ERD, ERQ and ERD servers.
Looking forward the solution of this problem. Not sure, if i need to set some profile parameter to avoid to enter pasword or something else.
Pls suggest to solve this problem.
    Thanks
    Amar

    Thanks Siva for quick reply.
I checked the connection as you mentioned. Connection test is ok but Auth test  failed:
'Connection Test TMSADM at ERQ.DOMAIN_ERD '
    Password logon no longer possible.
Same error for all three system. I think, something worng with the 'TMSADM'.
As mentioned earlier, there was some issue in transport domain. To solve the problem, we deleted all RFC for TMS* in SM59 of ERD/ERQ/ERP server. Deleted transport route using SE06 and re-cretaed Domain controller and then added the ERQ/ERP in domain controller. ERD is the domain controller.
I had not deleted user TMSADM in client 000 before re-configuring the transport domain. Not sure, if i should delete user TMSADM in all three servers  and re-create the domain contoller. Any suggestion on this?
Problem seem to be for the password of TMSADM user ID. Checking more in details.
    Thanks

  • SSRS 2012 - Windows Server 2012 R2 issue with OLEDB Connection String

Hoping someone can help. As stated above, we are running SQL Server 2012 with SP1 on Windows Server 2012 R2. When I create a Data Source as follows in Reporting Services, I receive the following error message. Any thoughts on why this fails? The same data

    Hi ABAA101,
According to your description, when you use csv file as data source in SSRS 2012 report, you got the error message.
I tested the issue in my local machine, due to some policy restrictions, I could not install Access in my local machine. To workaround the issue, we can use the connection string like below:
    Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\\report;
    Extended Properties="text;HDR=Yes;FMT=Delimited"
The csv file is stored in report folder in C driver.
In Query text box in the dataset, we can use the query like below:
    Select * from new.csv
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Migration of SCCM 2012 SP1 to SCCM 2012 R2 in a new domain.

I am wondering if it is possible to migrate objects from a SCCM 2012 SP1 server in one domain to a new SCCM 2012 R2 server in another domain ?
I read this article, but it does not state this particular combination.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682006.aspx
    Thx
    Thomas

For Migrate from SCCM 2012 SP1 to SCCM 2012 R2 in same environment/Domain, it's support and applicable.
But migrate to new domain, it's not support. Also you can't migrate database for new domain or object. you will need to rebuild it.

  • How to install RDP CALs pack on Windows Server 2012 R2 (member of NT domain)

OS: Windows Server 2012R2 (64-bit), member of NT (Samba 3) domain.
Task: install RDP CAL pack, to allow connecting above its default 3 sessions limit.
Problem: when setting up RDP licensing/other required service, I came to a problem: RDP access broker service requires AD type of domain to be installed.
The server is part of NT (Samba 3) domain and we have no intention to change domain type only to satisfy an auxiliary service.
Is it possible to enable additional RDP CALs on Windows Server 2012 R2 without mandatory joining an AD? The license control available up to Windows Server 2008 has been removed from Windows Server 2012, I can't bypass installing broker and the rest of related
    services.
    Thank you for any information.

  • SQL Server 2012 Installation Issue

    Hi
Not sure if this is the correct forum for this but I'll post anyway.
Ialready have sql 2005 and 2008r2 installed on my local machine running windows 7, 64 bit.
I recently tried to install sql 2012 but ran into a problem that I'm stumped by. The installation runs fine, no errors or issues. When I start 2012 the SS Management studio window appears but the usual splash screen in the middle of the window asking to
to connect to a server does not. If I try hitting any of the meny items at the top of the screen the SSMS window just hangs.
I have service pack 1 installed also. I uninstalled and tried again but still no luck. my SQL 2005 and 2008r2 version are still fine and run as normal. I also tried installing sql 2014 to see if that would work but I had the same issue as with 2012.
    Any ideas anyone?
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
Both SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2014 require .NET Framework 4.0 which does not required by the previous versions.
Make sure that . NET Framework 4.0 has been successfully installed on your system before you install SQL Server

  • Server 2012 DirectAccess Issues

I have DirectAccess configured on Server 2012.  Just a single NIC configuration.  I've got it configured to work with Windows 7 and everything is fine as far as accessing network resources from the DirectAccess client, but not the other way around.
I've setup ISATAP for the machines that I want to communicate with the clients and that appears to be working.
The first problem we are having is the client will not register with our DNS servers.
If we manually add a record with it's IPv6 address, we can ping the client, RDP to the client, but Microsoft Remote Assistance or trying to browse to the client doesn't work.
I believe I have opened the correct ports and allowed edge traversal on the client.  Do you guys have any other suggestions?  Thank you.

    Hi,
"To configure ISATAP you have to put ISATAP host (A) record in your DNS and all machines can then resolve this name to configure their ISATAP adapters." (Quoted from below article)

  • POP server rejected password issue

I have searched for days and tried every "fix" I could find on these boards to correct the POP rejecting my password issue that apparently alot of new Leopard users are experiencing. This was not an issue with my Tiger, only started after the leopard archive install I did.
What does it take to get Apple to address an issue this widespread? Is there any way to get it to them so they are aware they need to fix this?
In my reading I discovered this happened in Tiger as well and that was corrected.
I guess I am trying to find out how to get Apple invovled in fixing this.
    Thanks,
    Don
P.S. the fixes I have tried are too many to list but were all previously posted here in this topic.

    Does this help (temporarily?)
This might be due to one of Leopards most serious bug.
The one that makes Mail randomly switch setting in "Account<Advanced<Authentification"
    from "Password to APOP"
If the setting has been changed to APOP you will be asked for a password.
Change back to Password and all is well until the next time Mail suddenly and unexpectedly changes the setting all by itself.
But of course, this depends on what settings your provider is using.

  • Join multiple Server 2012 R2 essentials to a domain

    Hi to all
I was looking at the anoucement that it is now possible to connect multiple essential servers to a single office 365 environment. Glad to hear that as I'm planning to implent several essential servers to a single company that is spreaded over several locations.
Reason for this, is that each branch only has up to 12 employees.
I wanted to ask if it is still not possible to connect several essential servers into a single domain? As example having one main office with essential (or even standard) and adding branch offices to the domain, each with essentials.
Or would I need Windows Server Standard and add the essential mask on it to make this work?
    Thanks for your input

    Hi geocast,
Would you please let me confirm whether it's Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard/Datacenter with the Windows Server Essentials Experience role installed or just Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials? Just a confirmation, thanks for your understanding.
Please refer to following articles and check if can help you.

    Deploying Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard/Datacenter
with Windows Server Essentials Experience role in an Existing Active Directory Environment

  • ...that no computers are registered to receive updates (Server 2012) WSUS issue

    Hi
    Server 2012 64-bit WSUS install
I have trolled as many forum posts as possible but they seem to relate to older versions of Windows OS.
I have clicked the "To set up a client computer" and followed all the steps to create a GPO etc.
However the computers on the domain still look to the internet for their updates and not the WSUS server despite the policy in place.
WSUS is sync and I have 1987 security updates waiting, 626 critical updates waiting etc.
I have approved 562 updates and declined 1338 so far.
I have created 8 separate computer groups.
What can I do to get my domain computers looking to the WSUS server to receive their updates?
    Many thanks
    Leo

    I would suggest starting with
Update and Configure the Automatic Updates Client Computer in the WSUS Deployment Guide, and the
Step-by-Step Guide to Understanding the Group Policy Feature Set.
The links provided point to solutions for much older OS. I am running a Windows 2012 Server environment with Windows 8 OS on client PC's. All the data provided on the link is for Server 2000/2003 and Windows XP. Must I assume that nothing has changed in terms
of registry values and methods of solution?
Very little has changed, the principles are the same, the Admin UI has evolved/modernised somewhat.
Windows8 does have a slightly changed auto-updating behaviour (relating to the post-install-restart behaviour) , but this is able to be modified with a GP setting.
The main settings for a client, continue to be controlled by the same registry settings (keys/values), and this can be configured by GP, and the resultant settings can be observed in the registry.
The applied settings, are consumed by the WUAgent and output to the windowsupdate.log, so it's easy to confirm if your GP settings are being applied correctly as expected.
