Server 2012 R2 - WSUS - Win 7 reporting status, Win 8 not

Hi,
We have WSUS running in Server 2012 R2 standard. I have a handful of Win 7 PCs reporting status successfully. All other Win 7 and Win 8/8.1 have "not yet reported".
Looked at the windowsupdate.txt to compare a Win 7 working PC to a Win 8.1 non-working PC. Found this difference: Win7 is using
http://hccsus01:8530/ClientWebService/client.asmx and Win 8.1 is using
https://fe2.ws.microsoft.com/v6/ClientWebService/client.asmx

  • MSSQL Server 2012. Error accessing reporting website. Not Found The requested URL /ReportServer1 was not found on this server. Unable to uninstall MSSQL 2008

Hi all. I have recently installed MSSQL Server 2008, and was not able to access the URL when I clicked on it. It gave me a 404.
When I installed 2012, I tried the same thing and it also throws me a 404 error. How should I go about solving this? What are the log files that you may need to help me solve this?
At the same time, I have also tried to uninstall my 2008, but am always stuck at not being able to remove Client Connectivity Tools and some other components. Please let me know what log files you need and I will be happy to provide them. Thanks!
The following is the log for the uninstallation.

Strange, but finally the procedure below did solve my problem.
    # Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and look for '''Anti Phishing Domain Advisor'''.
    # If you click on ''Click here for support information'' you'll see it is a Panda program.
    # Uninstall '''Anti Phishing Domain Advisor''' program...
    # This did solve my problem

  • Enforcement states for a deployment report status is not refresh..

Enforcement states for a deployment report status is not refresh.
We have deployed patches by software update and monitoring status by checking report
Enforcement states for a deployment. We have observed status difference in report and in actual PC. Status of One PC is
Downloaded update in report  but actually that patch was
    installed on PC.
why this difference and what is the solution to solve this.

Hi Garth - I don't recreate the SU group. I recreate the deployment from
    the SU group.
The SU Group contains all deployed updates and the deployment is a "catch-up" and targets a collection of all clients on the particular platform ie. Server 2008 R2. It's a mandatory deployment and I've set it to report "all messages" as opposed to the default
    "success and failure".
There's no particular SU that are showing ESU. It's the client that shows ESU via the report "Enforcement States for a Deploymennt", and it's only ever the clients that were "Pending System Restart" previously that change to "Enforcement State
Unknown". The software centre on these clients all know they're pending restart, and if the pending restart is performed on the client it will then change to "Compliant", but it never changes from ESU while its real state is "Pending Restart".
    Hopefully that clarifies the scenario.
Like I said, I have a workaround, but I'd like to eliminate this behaviour on all my SCCM 2012 instances which are all affected.

  • Server 2012 R2 + WSUS = not updating

    Hi all,
We've (finally!) started to deploy Server 2012 R2 machines, and one of the things I'm having problems with is WSUS. I've patched WSUS (which is running on 2008R2) so that it's aware of Windows 8/2012R2 machines, and servers are querying/reporting against
the server correctly, and pick up their updates fine.
The problem comes from trying to install them. I've updated the GPO templates so that in it includes the 2012R2 options that force an immediate reboot, rather than having to wait for a 'maintenance window'. I've also disabled the maintenance windows using
    psexec + schtasks.
I can see, via the registry, that the 2012R2 machine is picking up the correct settings from the GPO, so that's not the problem. I think I've got everything set correctly, according to the all the articles/KBs I've read, but yet, the server doesn't reboot
    when it should do.
I left the machine set to reboot at 1000 this morning, when I got back from the Easter break (thinking that, maybe, for some odd reason, it just needed some time for WSUS to sync, or whatever), but even after 6 days of being on and idle, it didn't do anything.
My GPO is as follows (relevant entries):
Configure Automatic Updates: 4, install during automatic maintenance is unticked (time and date altered for testing).
I had been testing each hour, but I've since left it over the long Easter weekend, set to install just after we reopen, and it's not done anything.
Always automatically restart at the scheduled time: enabled - wait 15 minutes.
Delay Restart for scheduled installations: enabled - 1 minute.
    Any advice very gratefully received!
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi Michael,
Yes, the output from gpresult -r was one of the first things I checked. I've confirmed the settings are being applied from the GPO by checking the registry too.
You say a snippet from one of the machines that rebooted: none of the 2012 test machines have reboot themselves yet. They've just picked up updates, but not rebooted. In the windowsupdate.log file, the only entries are checking for updates. Keeping in mind
it's set to reboot at 1000, the update log reads as follows (sorry for verbosity!)

  • SCCM 2012 on Server 2012 and WSUS 3.0 SP2 on Server 2008

We are installing SCCM 2012 SP1 fresh into our development environment - the primary site server and the database (SQL 2012) are both being installed on Server 2012.
We have an existing WSUS box on a Windows 2008 (not R2) server - the WSUS server version is 3.2.7600.256.  We have set this up as the software update point.
For the purposes of this discussion, these are the server names (obviously obfuscated):
    Primary site server:  sccm.domain.local
    Database server:  sccmdb.domain.local
    WSUS server:  wsus.domain.local
On the primary SCCM server, I've installed the WSUS user interface (Install-WindowsFeature -Name UpdateServices-UI), in order to work with the remote WSUS server.
Updates synchronization appears to be working fine, but when I try to setup client distribution via SUP, I'm getting the following error in the Application event log:
    Log Name:      Application

    to the Software Updates Point.
As well as this in the WMC.log:

It would seem obvious that this is because of a mismatch in versions between the WSUS server version on wsus.domain.local, compared to the UpdateServices UI on sccm.domain.local.
Is there a way around this, without having to upgrade the WSUS server to Server 2012?
Thanks for any thoughts you may have!

Not really. As mentioned though, even the separate WSUS server is probably overkill. In ConfigMgr, WSUS is used to handle the update catalog and that's it. Clients do *not* report status to the WSUS instance and do *not* download updates from the WSUS instance.
No management is ever done in WSUS.
So, in reality, once a month, clients connect to WSUS to download the delta update catalog (delta compared to what they currently have) which usually comes out to about a few hundred KB (yes KB, not MB) -- this download is done via BITS. The server also
syncs the catalog from the WSUS instance, via the SUP, in a similar fashion. If you are using SCEP, the frequency will be greater, but the deltas will be much smaller.
EULAs, as needed, are also stored in WSUS and accessed by clients -- these are also quite small only a select few updates requires them.
That's it. Standing up a dedicated WSUS instance means having a server sitting there doing almost nothing else.
If you are concerned about load on the site server, then you should create a separate site system that contains the MP, SUP (and WSUS instance), and DP. Then, for HA purposes, you can simply build a second site system with these three roles also and HA will
essentially be automatic (from a client functionality perspective).

  • Server 2012 R2 WSUS - Product's Missing / Different to SUP 2012 R2

    Hi @all,
is there any Hotfix or Settings-Set exist, where i can add, missing Products in WSUS
My problem is, that some Product f.e. Windows 7 Language Pack's are missing in WSUS von Server 2012 R
    THX for information about.
    Greetz Berni

    Hi,
Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise. The Windows 7 language packs can be installed only from the Optional Updates section in Windows Update. However, these language packs are not
available on the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)  server or through the Microsoft Download Center.
The following technet articles might be of more help:
    Use the lpksetup.exe command.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc748922(v=ws.10).aspx
This example shows how to install multiple language packs.

  • Server 2012 R2 WSUS not synchronizing

So I am testing out a new WSUS server on Server 2012 R2.
This has been working fine for a few weeks and downloading updates from MS with no problems.
However from the 8th December on-wards it now fails.
I checked to see if any updates had been installed on the 7th and there was one so I uninstalled it but still the same problem.
    The error is as follows:

Anyone any ideas what this is and why it has suddenly stopped working?
    Regards,
    Rob

    The update removed was KB3011780.
There were some issues with the original release of this update. A revision was published on Nov 18, 2014. You might check to be sure that the latest revision is approved. Possibly the server had installed the earlier revision?
As for the SSL part...  no idea.  This is not something we have setup or changed.
My apologies. I confused the issue here. This is the logfile attempting to synchronize with Microsoft, and it does use SSL for that task.
There are only a few reasons why this SSL connection would fail:
Something is now interfering with the connection. (Is the WSUS server configured to use a proxy server?)
The WSUS Server is missing a required certificate to authenticate the Microsoft certificate chain.
Note also that the installation of MS14-066 changed the priority order of the ciphers used for SSL/TLS connections, so if there are intermediary devices, make sure they also support the use of those ciphers.

  • Sleep and hibernation is working on Server 2012 with started hypervisor! I do not know why...

    Hi,
I enabled Hyper-V role in the Microsoft Windows Server 2012 on testing computer (PC with i7 CPU and 16GB RAM). I found very strange behavior. The sleep mode was enabled and after command “powercfg /hibernation on” the hibernation is also working.
I tested sleep (S3) and hibernation with started hypervisor and with running virtual machine. I tested sleep and hibernation triggered by power button and even with time-out that was set in the Power Options (I set sleep after 1 minute and
later hibernate after 1 minute and wait).
Sleep and hibernation is working! I do not understand why. Sleep and hibernation should be functional only on Client Hyper-V on Windows 8 and not on the Server 2012.
    Some examples:
Testing workstation (i7, 16GB RAM) with Server 2012 and with started hypervisor:
    C:\Users\Administrator>powercfg /a
The following sleep states are available on this system:

    R. Revil
    Relef Revil

    Hi Ben,
I have nearly exactly the same Problem as Relef Revil.
    I have Lenovo T510 Notebook with Core I7 and a Lenovo T420 Notebook with a CoreI5.
On my T510 S3 Sleep works perfectly with Hyper-V Role. On my T420 Sleep is disabled due to Hypervisor.
If I uninstall Hyper-V Role then Sleep works again as expected.
So, from a Little simple perspective, I Looks like this is a Hyper-V Thing or Problem.
I have als updated to the latest BIOS and latest Intel HD Graphics 3000 Drivers on this Win 2012R2 Maschine.
Also I have installed all possbile latest Versions of all other devices.
Could you probably give me an idea where to search for a solution.
So, what is the logic why Hyper-V disables sleep, when Sleep worked before?
I assumed that Hyper-V and Sleep ist generally possible on Win2012R2, especially when Sleep works perfectly when Hyper-V Role is not installed.
    Kind Regards

  • SQL Server 2012 with SP2 Slipstream ISO images do not install SP2

We see the same issue as described here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2783963
when using the newly posted en_sql_server_2012_enterprise_edition_with_service_pack_2_x64_dvd_4351704.iso from MSDN.
We end up with SQL Server 2012 RTM instead of SP2 and have to run a second pass to install SP2 on top of RTM.
Is this a confirmed problem with an expected solution soon to follow?

    Hi,
As per the link this seems to me a known issue. I cannot 100 % say because I have seen/faced this issue with
SP1 and you mentioned SP2. I would always suggest to install RTM only there is option to un select SP2 during installing.
Well thank you for reporting I guess Microsoft would take this as feedback.
Can you share setup log files please just for analysis

  • Server 2012 cluster - virtual machine live migration does not work

    Hi,
We have a hyper-v cluster with two nodes running Windows Server 2012. All the configurations are identical.
When I try to make a Live migration from one node to the other I get an error message saying:
Live migration of 'Virtual Machine XXXXXX' failed.
I get no other error messages, not even in event viewer. This same happens with all of our virtual machines.
A normal Quick migration works just fine for all of the virtual machines, so network configuration should not be an issue.
The above error message does not provide much information.

    Hi,
Please check whether your configuration meet live migration requirement:
Two (or more) servers running Hyper-V that:
    Support hardware virtualization.
    Yes they support virtualization.
Are using processors from the same manufacturer (for example, all AMD or all Intel).
Both Servers are identical and brand new Fujitsu-Siemens RX300S7 with the same kind of processor (Xeon E5-2620).
Belong to either the same Active Directory domain, or to domains that trust each other.
Both nodes are in the same domain.
Virtual machines must be configured to use virtual hard disks or virtual Fibre Channel disks (no physical disks).
All of the vitual machines have virtual hard disks.
Use of a private network is recommended for live migration network traffic.
Have tried this, but does not help.
Requirements for live migration in a cluster:
Windows Failover Clustering is enabled and configured.
    Yes
Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) storage in the cluster is enabled.
    Yes
Requirements for live migration using shared storage:
All files that comprise a virtual machine (for example, virtual hard disks, snapshots, and configuration) are stored on an SMB share. They are all on the same CSV
Permissions on the SMB share have been configured to grant access to the computer accounts of all servers running Hyper-V.
Requirements for live migration with no shared infrastructure:
    No extra requirements exist.
Also please refer to this article to check whether you have finished all preparation works for live migration:

  • RDS on server 2012 and outlook as a published app not working.

You need a VL copy for office, OEM will not work,
You can also install O365 on the Server but that is a little more complicated, then you can have every one activate it with their E3 license.
We have both systems in production for multiple customers and it works without issues.

We are creating a new environment to use RDS, exchange 2010, office 2010 or 2013. When publishing an app of outlook 2010 or 2013 they do not work in RDS. Just keeps spinning and never launches. it will not launch from the server as well at time but at times it will if i am on the server directly via RDP.
This is a hyper-v environment as well running on server 2012 host not sure if that makes any difference with this issue though.
    Any ideas here?
    Thanks in advance

  • Server 2012 R2 DHCP Failover - Hot Standby clients not renewing with standby server

In my test network I have a pair of Server 2012 R2 DHCP servers setup for Hot Standby and they will successfully service a client request for a new request.
What I am seeing is that when I test failover the clients will not renew with the Standby server. I have to release first and then renew.
When both DHCP servers are up the state is normal and replication of configuration from the Active to Standby is working. As far as I can tell it is configured correctly.
    MaxClientLeadTime is 10 minutes.
    StateSwitchInterval is 10 minutes.
    AutoStateTransition is set to True.
Adding that manual renews fail with a message stating that it was unable to contact the dhcp server. However if I wait for the lease to expire/auto-renew the dhcp server does indeed change to the standby. Once the primary server comes back up and the state
returns to normal I am able to manually renew.
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
For test, we let the active DHCP down and the standby DHCP server will take place. But when we renew an IP, client send unicast to the former DHCP
server. That’s why the first request failed.
At 7/8 of the scope lease time, the client moves into a REBINDING state and broadcasts a lease renewal request.
For more information please refer to:

  • SQL Server 2012 - applying SP2 breaks SSRS Report Builder

    Hi,
Had SQL 2012 (was 11.00.2845) and SSRS configured and working.
Applied SQL 2012 SP2 (server now at version 11.0.5058.0 (X64).
But when I goto the typical "http://server/ReportS_INST1 - reports still work ok, but clicking on Report Builder looks like it starts the download and then errors.
The error is "Application validation did not succeed.  Unable to continue.".
Clicking on Details gets the message below.  I understand it thinks it has a version mismatch, but anyone know what the resolution should be?
    Thanks

    Hello,
It seems to me somebody applied SP2 for SQL Server 2012 on an instance that has installed SQL Server 2012 SP1 CTP 4. CTP4 is not
    the final version of SP1.
    http://sqlserverbuilds.blogspot.com/
My suggestion is to uninstall SP2 (using Control Panel), download and apply SP1 from the following link, and then apply SP2 again.
