Server 3 with IP Surveillance/Push Notification

Has anyone used Server 3 with an IP surveillance camera(s) setup and enabled push notification to their cell phone (iPhone or others) when motion detected and if so, is there any additional software involve and would they share details of the setup?

Not sure what you're looking for here, but Server.app is probably not relevent here — the push notifications are sent from the triggering source to Apple and then from the Apple servers along to your iOS device.   But whatever is triggering the notifications is almost certainly not going to send the notifications via OS X Server.
The surveillance cameras and the iPhone probably are aren't all that central either.  It's whether the particular motion-detection software — which could be running on a Mac host or could be embedded in the cameras — you're using actually works reliably, and whether it can send push notifications (via Apple).
If you're looking, then there are a variety of hits for a Bing or other web search for /surveillance cameras +"push notification"/, which would be a starting point.  Looks like a number of choices are available here, too.
If you have devices, then the identity of what you're working with would be helpful — this if you're looking to roll your own notifications.   There's information on enrolling and generating Apple Push Notification service (APNs) requests in the Apple Developer documentation — that's probably secondary to whatever software is doing the image capture and movement analysis, and the APNs activity would be triggered from that.
OS X Server gets into the push notifications references because some of the software on OS X Server seeks to send notifications.  But it's not usually necessary to use OS X Server as an APNs relay service, which is I'm guessing you're headed with this question, posted here in the OS X Server forums.

  • So what's the deal with AIM and Push notifications?

So we all get 3.0. AIM is supposed to get push. So going into the AIM prefs, "push" is the same old send an SMS to the iPhone number. The SMS comes in, you hit reply and the iPhone opens SMS app!!! It doesn't open AIM.
This is nuts. Talk about things never changing.

The app isn't yet updated to take advantage of the PNS. Just wait, a few are coming out now. AP news just got updated and has PNS settings.
AIM was one of the apps used for testing Push for the last 10 days. And I'm using the paid version. One would think then it would be working.
I've been using BeeJiveIM for so long, I bought AIM today to see how the Push works.
So what you are saying is Push notifications are still not implemented?

  • No Push Notifications with 4.3.2 update

    Hi,
I updated my iPhone to 4.3.2 and started having a problem with it. Push notifications stopped working specifically with ebuddy messenger Pro and Beejive. It's really annoying and I tried everything from disabling them then enabling them to deleting and restoring these apps. Nothing seemed to work.
Does anyone have the same problem? Please help

    Hi James,
I was just going through my setting and discovered that my cellular data network settings have been wiped completely. I feel a bit silly not noticing this before because I was connecting through my wi-fi all the time.
Anyway when I restored all the data I started receiving push notifications almost immediately; some were a few days old. I logged into eBuddy and the notifications worked, I even disconnected from 3G and connected through wi-fi and push notifications still worked.
I also remember that I read about someone who solved this problem by deleting his cellular data and typing it back.
    I hope this helps

  • Slow Push Notifications from Lync 2013 to Windows Phone 8.1 (dev)

Hi , I recently configured our Push notifications on our Lync 2013 Standard server, but i'm experiencing very slow performance of the push notification.
For example when I send IM from PC to my WP 8.1 phone the message is received after s few seconds . When I try another one right after the first one I receive error in my Lync client
This message may not have been sent to LyncTest because   the server timed out.
If I wait 60-120sec I can send another IM and I can receive it on the phone. Tried debugging with OCSLogger but it seems that there are no errors. Lync calls also work in random situations.
Anyone experienced the same problem with Lync 2013 push notifications ?

When you run Lync Logging Tool, check you select Mcx logging component for the Logging Options selection.
Please also check if others users have the same problem.

  • Invalid device in Apple push notification

We have done an apple  push notification for an iphone application and its working fine.Using the APNs certificate, it is displaying the push message. Suppose the corresponding application is uninstalled from a particular device and I don't want to push the message to that device any more. How could I identify whether the device to which the messages are send is valid?
Any sample CF code or link for this is appreciated.

  • Push notification won't work...

Guys I am just loosing my mind over this issue. Maybe you can shed some light on the matter. I have a fresh install of 10.6.1 Snow Leopard on a bran new Xserve. For some reason I can not get Push notification to work. Below I am going to add as much information as I can to allow you very gracious experts out there to hopefully identify what the issue is:
    *Current running Services:*
    Address Book
    AFP
    DNS
    iCal
    Open Directory
    Push Notification
    SMB
    Web
Clients are both on the inside and on the outside of the network. Port 8443 is punched through on the firewall to one of the two NICs on the Xserve. Our network is made up of three zones on a SmoothWall firewall: Red is public IP, Orange is 192.168.1.xxx, and Green is 192.168.0.xxx. The server exists on both the Orange and the Green with 192.168.1.3 and 192.168.0.3. The symptom shows up even if I disable the Orange NIC and punch through to the green and also shows up on both internal clients and external clients.
The clients do see the ability to choose the Push option in the client iCal settings but it just doesn't work. The only way to see changes in the calendar events is to manually refresh the calendar.
    Now for the weird logs:
*Here is a concerning part of the error log of the iCal service:*

*Under the configured services for Push Notification:*

*Under the Push Notification setting for the Settings window for iCal:*
    Push Notification: xserve.local
*Now I know that if I'm running an iCal server on the same server as DNS then I should have the fully qualified address under the Push Notification setting, but it won't freaking change to xserve.xxxxxxxxxx.com. I know it doesn't make sense but no matter what I put in that field it always goes back to xserve.local. I have gone over my DNS settings and everything seems correct.*
I know this is long and tedious to read but I really appreciate any help...I promised this functionality and my neck is on the line unless I deliver.

  • IPad 2 push notifications don't work on home wifi network

I have a new iPad 2 and I'm trying to use imo.im for instant messaging. however, in most cases, I do not get push notifications for new messages at all, and when they do appear, they are delayed by several minutes. I installed the push test app and am getting the same results. Usually, it will work for a couple minutes if I turn off the wifi and re-enable it on the iPad, but then it stops working again.
I have changed the dns servers on both the ipad and my router to use google's servers, but that still doesn't fix it. Push notifications do seem to work on other wifi networks, so it seems like it's something with my router, but I can't figure out what it is.
    Thanks!

I'd like to add one more data point. I tried the exact same tests on my iPhone 4, but did not get the exact same results. First of all, all push notifications work fine on my iPhone using 3G. When I connected to my home wifi network where I experience the problem with my iPad, push notifications worked, but were slightly delayed compared to the 3G connection.
So it seems like the problem is on the iPad when it's connected to this specific network. Also, after using it more, the push notifications seem to come and go randomly, so it's hard to predict when they will stop working.

  • Exchange 2003 push notifications not working on iPhone4 running iOS 5

My Exchange 2003 push notifications are not working on my iPhone4 (iOS5).  For this account I need to fetch.  I know that at one point I was receiving push notifications from the Exchange 2003 account prior to upgrading to iOS 5 but unfortunately I did not actively monitor push notifications for this accout prior to upgrading to iOS 5.  Push notifications work fine for other email accounts on this phone including an Exchange 2007 account.  Are there any issues specific to iOS 5 and Exchange 2003 with regard to push notifications?

This is an issue that a lot of people are having...   it's all on this thread.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4345374?start=0&tstart=0
The 'fix' that is decribed in the first post does not work.  The only workaround is if you are on Wi-Fi, turn off Cellular Data and then reset the push service by turning on Airplane mode for a few seconds and then turn it back off.  Seems to be an issue with the iOS talking to the new LTE CDMA chip on Verizon and Sprint iPhone 5s.

  • Push Notification only works for some Apps?

I just upgraded to a new iPhone 3GS from the official german carrier (t-mobile). The device is not jailbroken or unlocked.
With some applications push notification works (iFun, Trivial Pursuit, Ping, Facebook, IM+), with some not (N-TV news, Focus news, ebay). I already tried deinstallation with data removal of the apps and reinstallation.
Is there some way to reset the push notification feature, or reset the device token?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, they have - both are news applications with push capability.
