Server Appears to be offline

Recently, I have to disable the domain firewall to login to Server from Windows 8.1 client. This has never been an issue until lately. Not sure what could have changed?
Any help would be appreciated.

If this issue still persists, please let us know the complete error message that you can get when firewall
has been enabled. Meanwhile, please go to event viewer and check if you can find some errors.
In addition, please check the port if it was blocked by firewall. Please refer to the following article and
troubleshoot.

Appears essential to keep resource-forked data off Lion disk:
First attempt with Eudora on SL VM was sharing data on Lion disk. Error messages on open like "can't find Table of Contents" suggest Lion ate resource forks crucial to Eudora.
Found success by transferring data from SL Mac to thumb drive, then mounted drive in SL VM so Lion couldn't touch.
While Michael warns against storing data in VM, appears there's no choice with Eudora. At least She's enthroned on a mirrored RAID.
There is Nothing like Eudora! (to tune of "There is Nothing Like a Dame" from South Pacific -- Oops! my gray hair is showing!)
(It's amazing Parallels can force Lion to store taboo resource forks. Thank God for code warriors!)

on one mac account but not the other why?

k finally my account is receiving mail. But it was out of service for over 15 hours. And on only one of my .mac email accounts don't know how or why. Yet I even deleted my account from my mail and re-entered it but that didn't help, only time did. So strange and discerning for a paid mail account service. Great when it works. But it might be nice to have an auto forward feature for when the accounts go down so that emails may still be sent and received at one of my free email providers that has not ever had any issues. The simple shortest answer is that you can't (Change a Buddy's settings)
From your own end you can reply to the first Off Line IM you get on an AIM login (an accompanying IM for AIMSysMessage asks if you want them to Continue - replying No stops them)
IF you have stopped Off Line IMS than you can reset this at AIM Settings
You can log in here with AIM and Apple IDs that end in @mac.com and @me.com (iCloud issued @me.com name are an Exception)
In addition the Setting in iChat > Preferences > General Section that refers to setting the Status to Off Line on Quit stops the App starting up if iChat is not launched but the computer is ON

Mail server appears to lockup

Hello, I have OSX Server 10.2.8 and it has been running fine for the past 3 years but now all of a sudden I have problems logging in to POP and IMAP accounts or even sending mail through it? The server appears to be unresponsive but then works again like it is processing to much work and then when it is done it will respond again like it should. I feel like it's under a DOS attack or something.
My mail error logs are littered with messages such as below:

My Server appears to have many connections to the router?

When I look at a map of the network on my router, the server appears to have two IP Addresses and many, many connections.
Most things are working okay, but there is a problem resolving domain names. I can RDP to the server with the IP address but not the name on some clients, and likewise I can access folders with 192.168.1.XXX\Folder but not SERVERNAME\Folder.
I have a public static IP address, and the server adapter has a static IPv4 address (I have left IPv6 alone).

Not necessarily.
Essentials does not setup the internal DNS the same way sbs standard does.
So, using domain.remotewebaccess.com, will always resolve to an external IP.
Then it is up to the firewall in the router, whether it will permit a NAT loopback.
You could add a DNS zone for domain.remotewebaccess.com in DNS on the Essentials Server, but im not sure that would be a good idea.
There may be a setting you can change inside your router to allow the traffic to work.

TS1398 Why does the internet connection appear to be offline with stronger WiFi signal?

I purchased new iPAD 3 generations 32 GB last Monday so i did click iCloud on left side to open the page but it
indicated "Verification Failed - the internet connection appears to be offline" at home while WiFi icon shows stronger
but problem with the internet connection being offline at home
I have no problem with my home computer and wireless printer - both still working good but I don't understand what's problem
with my new iPAD after creating new iCloud account outside home such as McDonald or Starbuck - internet connection appears to be online
I have Verzion High Speed DSL and router DLink Model DES-1105.
Please advise.

You may think you are connected to the internet, but maybe not. Click on Safari and see if it connects.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

HELP! Rouge Server Appears & Contains Computer Contents?

Normally the Network section of the Finder Window is empty, until recently! Now when I log onto the net (Yes, still on dial-up, but read on!) a server appears on the Network section of Finder and contains the entire contents of the computer, including Applications, System, Library, etc.
When I attempt to "Trash" this server, I'm told that I "don't have privledges" to remove this. When I click on more info, I get Kind: Alias; Where: /automount/Servers; Server: nfs://automount%20-fstab%20%5B269]. The last digits change each time I log on The Server Name in Finder also changes containing things like... "dialup-4.88.56. ... .level3.net" or "1cust2913.an2. ... .uu.net" (I can give complete name if that helps?)
This appears to have started after I backed up my pictures and documents on a new Western Digital My Book external drive in preparation for switching to DSL and upgrading to Leopard. Both actions are on hold until I can get rid of the rouge Server! I don't know if it's a "craplet" that WD gave me to push some online backup service? Can't get an response from WD!! Or is this something more dangerous???

Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Turn Wi-Fi off (wait 5 secs) > Turn Wi-Fi back on > Select Your Network
You should then connect successfully.
Go to Settings > iCloud > Account --- and you should now be connected.

10.8.4, created a new account to basicall get the MS Exchange email working because the old email under the other account is again SNAFU.
Same Stuff, Different Day. A perinal Apple defect as it never has worked right. The irony is that an open source clunky Java solution called DAVMail is more stable and reliable than the professional Mail app for providing MS Exchange compatibility. The lesson learned is that Apple's MS Exchange Mail.app compatiblity stinks on ice.
Google DAVMail. You have to load Java :-( but it works better than Apple's native implementation.
