Server connection lost after wakeup from standby

I am sorry if i did not find the right solution in this forum.
After waking up a mac from standby the smb mounts do not work anymore. Is there any workaround to make the mac mounting the volumes automatically after waking up?
Thanks so much for a reply!

Apparently there is a current issue with SMB that requires a fresh login each session...if the connection is broken, you have to log back in again each time.

  • Server connection lost after "wake-from-sleep"

I've got a network attached storage (NAS) device which I use as a location for backing up information from my hard drive. It's a windows based server so I use smb://servername to connect. I've got things set so that my Mac will connect when I log in but I've noticed that the computer will lose connection with the server after waking-from-sleep. Has any one else run into this? Any thoughts?

    hi there--
i would write down all your network settings if you don't know them, and then trash the /library/preferences/systemconfiguration folder. (that's at the root or harddrive level). then restart the computer and re-enter your network settings. this solves a lot of problems with connections cutting out after sleep. [ 8 ) ]

  • Bluetooth connection lost after wakeup ( CSR - bc4 )

    hi
after wakeup, my aluminium keyboard cannot connect anymore to my macbook pro. when i go to systempreferences/bluetooth i can see the bluetooth's host name is CSR - bc4 (???). when i turn bluetooth off and on again the hostname does set correctly to the name of my macbook-pro. after the restart of the bluetooth-service my keyboard works like a charm.
    any suggestions?
    greetings from switzerland

I am having the same problem.
If I use the new aluminium wireless keyboard (with my existing wireless mighty mouse) neither the mouse nor the keyboard reconnect to the computer on waking from sleep - it does announce that I have lost the bluetooth connection but tapping/clicking/waiting doesn't facilitate reconnection.
If I send the iMac to sleep again (using the power button - the only way I have to get any signal to my machine at this point - I haven't tried Morse Code yet) it does then recognise the peripherals on waking the second time.
I have also noticed that if I turn the mouse and keyboard off causing the "connection lost" warning and then put the machine to sleep, everything does reconnect on waking (switching them back on of course).
I have it set not to wake from sleep using bluetooth devices, so that I can tidy my mouse/keyboard away without disturbing the mac. Using my old white wireless keyboard (but the same Mighty Mouse) it works beautifully again as it always did in Tiger with only a minimal delay on waking from sleep before reconnecting automatically.
The aluminium keyboard is beautiful. But we need a fix - anyone? Is it a hardware problem? A set of dud keyboards? Has anyone found that a different aluminium wireless keyboard does work with the same setup? Or that their troublemaking keyboard does work on other machines?

  • Airport Server connection lost after 7.6 upgrade

updated my Airport extreme box a week ago and since then have been having Server connection popups appearing. Looking at the log files for the Airport it kept giving me the following at very regular intervals
AFP login OK from [email protected]... followed by AFP session from [email protected]. closing.
Today I got a decending gray screen on my iMac (10.6.8) followed by the message saying I had to force a restart - first time I have seen this (had Mac for 3 years)
The error messages on restart indicated CPU panic and  problem with com.apple.filesystemsmbfs  and com.apple.driver.AirPortBrcm43xx,
Given the issues I was seeing with dropping connections, I hastily backed up the Airport box before starting to search the support communities for info on this problem. I had not seen this problem before the update from 7.5.2 to 7.6 so had to assume that some type of issue had crept into the new release. Reading through the Support communities, it would appear that the connection problem is hitting a number of area. Thanks to the comments in the Support community pages, I have downgraded the OS to 7.5.2 and since then the problems with server disconnects seem to have stopped.
So problem fixed by downgrade - but looks like there may be an issue with the latest Airport software update.
Are others suffering Server disconnect issues with the Airport extreme software Version 7.6.
Have a copy of the iMac Panic data saved just in case!

The TC has suffered power supply failure. The new firmware triggered some slight increase in power consumption and was the straw that broke the camels back. It would have gone anyway .. all series 1 will die..
You cannot take it to the Genius Bar unless it is less than 3years old and you have AppleCare on another computer current.
Otherwise fix the power supply or check if you have a repairer near you for the prices.

  • Network connection lost after waking from sleep

    iMac (27" late 2013) running Yosemite 10.10.
Ethernet connection direct to the computer from the FIOS router.
Upon waking from sleep, the computer is not connected to the internet.
After about 20 seconds it finally reconnects.
Under Mavericks it never lost the connection by sleeping - was instantly connected upon wake up.
I tried creating a new location under the network system preferences and ordered it so that Ethernet was the first to connect.
    That didn't change anything.
Any suggestions how to fix this?  I don't want to have to wait every time I wake up the computer.
    Really bugging me.

    Update on my situation.
I have tried many things to get this fixed including:
SMC reset (for an iMac this means unplugging it, waiting, and plugging back in)
    PRAM reset
    deleted the "system configuration" folder
Still no luck.  Upon freshly booting the machine, it gets to the desktop and opens up mail for me, but the internet is not connected right away.  Still takes an additional 15seconds or so after Mail boots up to get a connection.  Then everything works fine.  If the computer sleeps, it doesn't have internet upon waking, but again will establish a connection (self assign an IP address) after about 15-20 seconds.
So while not crippling, these 15-20 second waits are very annoying.
Interestingly, this is ONLY with a wired Ethernet connection.  If I use WiFi everything connects right away.  But my WiFi is slower than the wired connection and I prefer to use the wired connection.
    Any further suggestions are welcome.

  • Connection Lost After Wake From Sleep

I am using a Macbook Pro and Linksys WRT150N W/L router. Every time my MBP wakes from sleep, I lose my internet connection. My menu bar still shows that I'm connected to the network, but I lose all connectivity. I cannot connect to internet or my router settings unless I do a complete restart. Network preferences shows connected to network but no connection to my router IP address under TCP/IP tab in the advanced settings. I also have a drop out of signal a few times an hour. My iMac DV does not experience the drop outs or connection loss at anytime. I have reset my router numerous times and used default factory settings all with the same results. Does anyone have an idea what the problem may be? Thanks.

I was always experiencing drop outs as far as what my signal was showing in my menu bar. It would drop out even if I was on top of my router. I had upgraded to 10.4.11 and the day after I did that, the problems started. I thought I might as well upgrade to 10.5 to see if that might help it. I think the 10.4.11 had done something to my W/L card and upgrading to 10.5 wouldn't have helped it unless I upgraded from 10.4.10 to 10.5, skipping 10.4.11 all together. I'm gonna bring my router and MBP into the genius bar and see what they can tell me about. Thanks for replying. I'm glad and sad to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing these symptoms.

  • FireFox content corruption after wakeup from standby

    Hi,
since I upgraded to 10.8 I have a very ennoying problem. The content of the FireFox Windows is totally corrupted. I have the same problem with CoRD and Safari.
Other programs are OK (Chrome is OK, Office OK).
    Screenshot is attached.
Problem is 'Solved' after a restart until the next wake up.
    Any idea of a solution?
    Thanks

A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.
    Then try Firefox or Safari...

  • Wireless connection lost after awakened from sleep.

I have the 2 month old 17" 2.16Ghz Macbook Pro Core Duo. Whenever I put the unit to sleep the wireless connection is lost when awakened. The Airport preferences pane shows a full strength signal and a base station ID but I cannot load a webpage, get or send emails, and ftp connections are broken. If I plug in an ethernet cable All is well again.
The ony way to restore the wireless connection is to either restart OR logout and log back in.
    Any suggestions?
    THANKS

    Do this.
    Open network preference panel
Select Airport on Show: drop-down menu
    Select Airport tab
Select Peferred networks as the Join by default: item
    Delete your network
    Close preference panel
    Reopen Network panel
Return to Join by default: and add your network
    Press Apply now.
    That should do it

    Hello,
Please consider to configure Windows Firewall or disable it. Not only Windows Firewall but any security software.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc646023(v=sql.120).aspx
Windows Firewall is enabled by default.
Make sure you are using SQL Server Native Client to create the ODBC DSN. Not all Windows versions have it, so you may need to download and install it.
    Hope this helps.

  • USB ports don't work after resuming from standby with Windows 8 on X230 tablet

I have just done a clean install of Windows 8 on my X230 tablet.  Before installing Windows 8 I installed the most recent BIOS for this machine (version 2.50).  After installing Windows 8 I installed System Update from the Lenovo Website and downloaded all the recommended drivers and other files.  I've also installed all the latest Windows 8 updates.
Here are the symptoms of my problem: After resuming from standby/sleep mode, my USB ports do not work.  My computer has two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 ports.  All exhibit the same behavior.  After resuming from standby mode I have tried inserting both my mouse and a USB thumbdrive, but neither are recognized.  After restarting Windows, the USB ports work again... until I resume from standby mode again.
I hope there is a solution to this issue.  It is very frustrating.

Thanks for the suggestion about tweaking the "Allow this computer to turn off this device" feature.  I un-checked that box for every entry I could find under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in the Devide Manager.  Unfortunately, the same symptoms of my problem persisted.
I went back and looked at the README file associated with the BIOS 2.50 download on Lenvo's support site.  At the bottom of the file it gives a "Summary of Changes".  Under version 2.03 of the BIOS (the version just before version 2.50), it says:
    - (Fix) Fixed an issue where USB device might not detected when system resume from sleep mode.
This indicates that Lenovo support was already aware of such issues.  The problem was intended to be fixed in version 2.03 of the BIOS.  However, the issue persists on my machine, even with the latest BIOS.
Hopefully someone from Lenovo can comment here.

  • Mouse stutter and UI unresponsiveness after returning from standby

Hi guys, after upgrading to Leopard the mouse pointer on my 15" MBP stutters after returning from standby. Weird thing is that this happens only after it was in standby for awhile, maybe 5 to 10 minutes. If I return from standby after a few seconds the stutter does not happen. I can only resolve this with a restart. This did not happen in Tiger. Is there anyone else experiencing this?

Well I had this problem. Did a fresh install of Leopard a week and a bit ago and it seemed to run much better. Set my machine up how I like it and it's back to how it was. I didn't setup my Dashboard right away so maybe your onto something. I'll have to try and force myself to not use it for a bit and see how it goes.
We should collect a list of 3rd party widgets as I think initially with the default 4 on display it was fine.
I've only got 4 other than the standard Apple supplied ones.
    - iStat Pro 4.2
    - TV Forecast 2.3
    - Amazon Album Art 2.12
    - Application Update 1.5.8
Now both iStat Pro and TV Forecast claim to be Leopard compatible. Amazon Album Art also mentions improved Leopard support was added in version 2.11. Application Update doesn't claim to be but seems to work fine. However I think this was the last widget I added and a few days after the others. I think it was fine with the other three so I might try removing it and seeing what happens.
Still I'd love to know what other Widgets you guys have. Maybe we all have the a similar one which we can narrow down to being the cause. Or maybe it's not 3rd party widgets at all but the Dashboard as a whole. Still I'm more likely to think it's a 3rd party widget.

  • Windows 8 won't find any airport after resuming from standby

    Hi,
I have had a windows 7 PC with both airport express (2nd and 3rd generation) working flawlessly. I bought a new Windows 8 Laptop. Initially everything worked fine, but after resuming from standby mode (closed the display and reopened) my itunes stopped working, and the airport utility software was unable to find both airport express. After shutdown and restart they both worked again until the next standby mode.
I've read somewhere that it might be a conflict with IPv6 so I disabled it from registry, but the problem remains.....
    any thoughts
    Regards,
    German

Did you upgrade the drivers from the wireless card manufacturer in win8 machine.. ??
If that doesn't work.. do some more basic wireless investigation..
    1. Are wireless names SMB compliant.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric?
    2. WPA2 Personal security with a password which also conforms to the above.
    3. Test with fixed wireless channels. 11, 6, 1
    4. If none of the above work.. turn off security for a few minutes and see if that works.

  • Power manager crashes after returning from standby mode.

I have a T400 2767 WU6 running Windows 7 Pro-64bit.. After returning from standby mode, power manager crashes (version 3). All the software installed is supposed to be compatible with win7 pro 64bit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does this issue appear from the beginning?
Possibly the OS was installed several time ago and now the registry entries are corrupt.
Therefore the system busy egg timer could appear.
Im not 100% sure it will help but possibly you should reinstall the whole OS
On the fresh installed OS all should works much faster

  • Wireless connection lost after standby !

My ibook G4 has a strange problem. Everytime, I restart the computer, the wireless internet works fine. However, just after every short standby or disconnection, the internet connection always got lost.
The airport says it is connected, while the network status says it is connected to my network, but airport cannot find the IP address and cannot connect to internet.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are there other (stronger) wireless networks in your area (when you click on the airport icon, in that case you should see a list of wireless networks in the drop down list)?.
You may want to switch your airport settings to always connect to yours instead of 'connect automatically'.

  • Macbook connectivity lost after waking up from sleep mode or rebooting

Being an Ex-Microsoft user , I am sad to say that Microsoft products still beats Apple's MAC in stability for certain functions.
For instance, this Macbook laptop does not seem to be able to reconnect to the home's gateway/ router (or any other gateway, for the matter) after it wakes up from sleep mode or rebooting.
I've read several similar posts on this topic in the internet and am convince to say that it is not the gateway/ router that the Mac is connected to giving the problem as there are other computers(Microsoft-based) connected to the same gateway working perfectly fine.
Furthermore the Fujitsu laptop I was using previously had connected to the gateway flawlessly... until the darn-thing broke down (grumble....grumble...)
So far, it seemingly so, that no other person has managed to figure and resolve this one out yet. Also, no Apple support staff has responded nor helped resolved other related-connectivity problems.
Is there a real hope for us??

The previous solution only worked for a few days.
I have another fix from Apple that is working (for now):
Go to the network preference pane and create a new location by using the location pull-down menu. Call it whatever you want.
Select the new location. Choose the little tool icon dropdown under the left column of services and choose "set service order" Drag things around so that airport comes first and then ethernet. Save, apply, do what you need to do to save all of these settings. Restart the computer.
There might have been some other steps, but these are the main and most important parts.
The default configuration for service order is wrong and the computer gets hung looking around for a bluetooth or firewire network connection. After every major system update, check that the service order is set right--it could get overwritten.
