Server connectivity options for Storage

Dear Gurus,
We have existing servers in our environment with HBAs and NICs. We are not planning to use Unified fabric (CNA etc) based architecture. We want our storage network to be separated from IP network.
However, can I connect HBA of my servers to FC SFP in FEX or Nexus 5Ks. If yes, how would be the subsequent connectivity towards SAN switch.
Any pointer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

N5K can be configured to work as a pure Ethernet, pure FC, or hybrid FC/Ethernet switch support native FC.

FEX doesn't support native FC !
From N5k, you can create ISL links to a FC fabric, be it MDS,.....
Here a list of N5k FC features; what is not supported is IVR ! BB credits are 240 !

I am trying to install SAP ECC 6 in Redhat Linux 5 and database oracle
I have installed java 1.4.2_16, I have set the environmental variables also.
But if I start the SAP installation by executing SAPINST , I am facing the below error
guiengine: No GUI server connected; waiting for a connection on host welcome, port 21200 to continue with the installation
I have tried to execute xclock to check it, but its gives the below error
ERROR: canu2019t open display: welcome:0.0
I found that before setting the below display environmental variable, xclock worked good, but after setting the below display environmental variable, I am facing this error
export DISPLAY=hostname:0.0
I searched for this error, some people posted that we have to change the display environmental variable like export DISPLAY=:0, set DISPLAY=:0.0,
I tried it but still facing the same No GUI server connected error.
I hope it will be a problem with display environmental variable and I have no other clues, please help me, Thanks.

Hi,
We are trying in my personal laptop, so I have not set any ip addess. Is there any other way like our loop back adapter settings in windows, to configure ip address in Redhat linux 5 in individual machines.
Also I searched in forums few other people who has already faced the same error. They have set the display environment variable export DISPLAY=ipaddress:0.0 with ip address but they also has faced the same error and itu2019s not resolved.
Please help me if there will be any other reason for this error, Thanks.

Scan to email server connection error for HP Envy 5530

Hi, Everyone!
I LOVE my printer. But, I had to add another laptop (both WIndows) - and then had to add a couple of monitors to that laptop (and a docking statiion) and now it doesn't want to scan to my emails any longer after working like gangbusters for months.
I am connected just fine with an excellent signal - but now when I try the Scan to Email feature - a RED X immediately shows up on the right of the control pad and the message says: Server Connection Error. EVEN though I am wirelessly connected just dandy.
I am not a technical person in the least. I have no idea what to do. I tried all the turn off, turn on stuff. Nothing is working.

Universe Connection - options for specifying database authentication

Are there any options for specifying the id and password for a database connection from the Universe Designer other than entering them directly into the tool? Our information security group prefers to administer security accounts (i.e. user id's and passwords) in standard security products as compared to having to know development tools (e.g. Business Objects).

to create a connection you have to enter a user name or password for this connection.
in your case, your Administrator can create those connections in the designer before they create any universe and then give an access to which developers access which connections to create specific universes.
to create a connection there is no other way more than entering the user name and password.
in the XI 3.0 there is some new and very good option "User BusinessObjects Credentials Mapping"
which i think send the current connected business objects user name and password to the connection user name and password.
its just map the user name of the BO system to the user name of the connection, and same thing for the password, and for this you have to have a DB user name for every BusinessObjects user name,
this is wide use with oracle databases.

Lost Open Internet Connection option for wireless on my tool bar

Does anyone know how I can bring back the Open Internet Connection option on my tool bar? I'm hoping if I can open that it will help me solve why I can't connect to the land line in my office. [email protected]

Open *System Preferences* and the choose Network. Pick Airport. At the bottom next to the Options button see if the *Show AirPort status in menu bar* is checked. Check it and it should pop back where it was.
If it's PPPoE click it and there will be a similar choice to show it in the menu bar.

My new HP Pavilion desktop has no usb connection option for my old Canon Pixma iP 2600 printer

Greetings:
I can no longer locate the installation disk for my my old Canon Pixma iP 2600 printer. I'm able to install it w/the add a printer feature in the control panel, but the desktop fails to read that the printer is connected via usb cord. I'm not finding any option to install it as a usb printer. Please help asap. I can't afford to replace the printer, and I have several documents I have to print today or early tomorrow, or there will be dire financial complications for me. I NEVER had this problem w/Dell. (the operating system is windows seven, which is exactly what i was running on my older dell model - i have searched this forum and located a similar question, but that querent was able to find a usb option in the drop down menu for port installation. that option is absent in my attempts).

Cisco VIC 1225 CNA Connectivity Options for 10G Upgrade

I've currently got an opportunity to upgrade a C220M3 UCS server from the standard Intel 1G LOM's to 10G and I'm looking at various ways to achieve this. This is for a standalone UCS server running VMware.
At the present time in this environment there isn't a 10G uplink switch port that can be used to connect a 10G UCS port to, so I'm looking at ways to at least complete the 10G hardware upgrade on the UCS side and have that component completed, while having a transition period of 1G connectivity in the short term.
It seems the VIC 1225 is the obvious choice for this, as price wise it's reasonable and it's fully featured, even if we only need the 10G ethernet (no FCoE in the short term).
One option I was looking at was to use the 1225T model, as this supports 10BaseT backwards compatible with 1000BaseT. However while it's an easy choice on the UCS, Cisco don't seem to have any 10G copper modules on the switch side, except in specific models in the Nexus family. This limits our switching options in the future (this rules out the use of 4500-X's or 3850s for example).
10G fibre is an option, as is Twinax, however this brings me to my next few questions.
1. It appears that based on the C220M3 spec sheet at http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/C220M3_SFF_SpecSheet.pdf (see Table 14) that the 1225 doesn't support Twinax. In fact it's the only NIC and CNA listed that apparently doesn't support it, which seems odd. Is this correct, and what is the reason behind this? Is this a hardware issue, a software issue or a documentation issue?
2. If Cisco Twinax is not an option, does the 1225 support 1G SFPs such as the GLC-SX-MM?
3. It looks like the X520 card for UCS might work, as I believe it can run with dual-rate 1G/10G SFPs. Has anyone tried this or have any comments on how those work with UCS?

The 1225 (UCSC-PCIE-CSC-02) does supports twinax cables, the documentation has a type-o. If you look at the documentation for the c240 M3 that supports the same 1225 adapter, you will see that this card does supports the twinax cables (see attach screenshots). In the documentation it shows that the 1225T supports twinax but this card comes with 2 10GBASE-T ports so it won't support either twinax cables or SFPs.

Sun One application server connection problem for Oracle DB

On our project in live environments we have six Sun One application servers that have been configured to connect to RAC Oracle database using OCI drivers. ( JDBC thick driver)
Sun one application server : Version 7.0.0
Oracle Database : Version 9.2.0.4.0
Following are two scenarios where Sun one server receives an error while attempting to perform any DML operations onto the database e.g. when you will try to send a insert/update msg through sun One.
Case 1: - If the Oracle package/procedure/function is compiled using �Alter package/function/procedure....� command
problem
Any attempt to perform a DML operation using RMI calls though Sun one application server with already established oracle connection will fail.
Sun One application server needs to be bounced to get an up-to-date state of the package.
Case 2: If the Oracle package/procedure/function is compiled using �Create or Replace package/function/procedure....� command

First attempt to perform any DML operation using RMI calls though Sun one application server with already established oracle connection will always fail. Any subsequent attempts will be successful.
We are using JDBC OCI think drivers. I tried flushing Shared pool at the Oracle side but it didn't help. For some reason Sun One seems to Cache the session information for already establised connections with Oracle database. As its live system we don't want any outage. i.e we know bouncing oracle app server will solve the problem.
So just wondering is there way/workaround to make aware the already estlised connection from sun one appserver to Oracle DB about changed packages/proceduress in the DB?
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

Connectivity Option for ODBC Databases

I have Gupta SQLBase database that I can connect using excel & PowerPivot fine using ODBC connection, but I don't see an option on Power Query for connection to other Data sources such as ODBC. Where is this option?

It's a frequent request that we hope to get to soon, but Power Query doesn't yet support connection to arbitrary ODBC data sources.

GW7 server recovery options for users mailbox

Good morning,
we need to restore a users mailbox from a GW7 server. By now we have recovered the (linux) server running the groupwise domain into a virtual box.
In order to mount the domain it appears that i need edirectory credentials. Q: Is it possible to access a users mail account without restoring the edirectory server as well? Or maybe i can simply copy some datafiles and try to open them with a gw client??

You could do it "the old fashioned way". Restore the PO directory structure,
and then run a POA against that location. Log in as the user and archive
everything. There is a general PDF about this here -

I am using SQL Server 2000 database. I have downloaded the required third party driver (jtds-1.2.jar) and specified it as part of my third part jdbc drivers from within Oracle SQL Developer.
I am trying to connect to the SQL Server database running in my local machine. I have specified username and password. My machine name in the Hostname and the port as 1433. My connection string looks like this.
UserName@MachineName:1433.
Now if I try to click on the "Retrieve Database" button I get the following error message.
Status: Failure -Network error IOException: Connection refused: connect
Any one has a solution. Please...

8130 Bluetooth Connect Option Missing for Some Devices

I cannot connect to some bluetooth devices on my Blackberry 8130. Most devices I pair with have a connect option in the bluetooth menu but some don't, even though they have been successfully paired. I have a specific device, a Holux H-1200 GPS that I used OK in the past with my 8130 but now refuses to connect and I cannot manually conect since there is no Connect Option for this particular device in the list of paired devices. I have deleted and rediscovered the device multipe times. When I pair successfully the properties show the Services SPP slave listed. I have tried to enable and disable Trused and Encryption but nothing helps. The Connect Option is present for all paired devices except 2 or 3 on my BB. My bluetooth options are set at Discoverable yes, allow outgoing calls yes, address book transfer all entries, security level high, and all services are check marked. I am with Verizon and my phone software level is 4.5.0.56.

In my own personal experience I have found that sometimes elements of the page (such as the Get Sample or Buy buttons) don't load in or load in incorrectly. Most of the time I've found that simply going to another page then back to the previous page fixes the issue or, like you have done, browsing from another devices shows the page just fine.

Powerpoint web sharing fails with "some presenting features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues"

I am having problems getting PowerPoint sharing working with Lync 2013. My setup is as follows
Lync 2013 Enterprise pool (november 2013 updates) on Windows 2012 and
Windows 2012 webapp farm
Kemp HLB
Everything is working ok, including whiteboards and application sharing, but i cannot get the powerpoint sharing to work. I always get the "some presenting features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues" for internal or external
users.
The webapp looks healthy and there are no errors in the Lync server or the webapp event log. Discovery urls can be accessed and i have put the .net 3.5 as suggested in a few forums.
When a user starts the PowerPoint it successfully loads the file to the Lync file share and request goto the webapp server. I am using a HLB which shows me that requests are forwarded to the webapp farm. I have removed the HLB for testing and get the same
results.
I did log this with the forum a month or so ago, but I had a file upload issue then which is now solved, but the powerpoint sharing is not.

Problem creating Application Server Connection

Hi,
I am experiencing some problem in getting the connection to work right after I install the JDeveloper 10.1.3, the following is the configuration I used, please help me on this:
Connection Type: Standard OC4J 10g 10.1.3
Host name: localhost , RMI Port: 23791
Firewall for port 23791 is turned off for both UDP and TCP.
When I test for connection, I got the following error:
Error while getting remote MBeanServer for url: ormi://localhost:23791/default:
Error reading application-client descriptor: Error communicating with server: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is:
javax.naming.CommunicationException: Connection refused: connect [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect]
I do not understand why this happen. Do I need to turn on any server to get this to work? Please help me. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. After doing much research here and there, I managed to get it work. I think it would be better that I shared my experience with everyone and this is how I get my first JSP on JDeveloper (OC4J) to work:
- Start the OC4J server by running [Where you installed your JDeveloper]/jdev/bin/start_oc4j.bat
- Create an application server connection. [For username: admin, password: welcome, URL: ormi://localhost:23791/]
Just wonder if anyone can give me a clue on how do I change my port to 80 instead of the default 8988 and also how to change the context root?
