Server crash due to SAP resource

During the execution of a report of type "Resource Status Report" which helps in examining the Test connection of each resource configured, the server gets crashed.
When we go through the logs, its was due to the SAP connection.
We have 7 SAP resources configured. Each of the SAP resource's Test connection was succesful.
These are the scenarios tested
When we ran the report WITHOUT the SAP resources the server was not crashing.
When we ran the report with ONLY SAP resources the server did not crash.
Only when all the resources are put together and executed we have a huuuuge problem. Can any thow some ideas on this ??
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Did you resolve this issue? I have the same problem. I appreciate if you could please let me know what the problem was.

The only suggestions I have off the top of my head are:
    * Ensure (1) the host system has at least 2GB (file store size) of free physical memory in addition to the memory used by current processes, and (2) the host system is not rebooted between each WebLogic restart. If you make sure of these two items, then the operating system will implicitly cache the store's file contents in memory even between boots -- when WebLogic subsequently boots the file store, the O/S should serve the file contents up much more quickly.
    * Consider moving to a JDBC store. JDBC store runtime performance is lower, but since you have a typically only have a small amount of records to recover, boot performance should be higher in this case.
    * Not that it helps your particular case, but it happens that we have boot performance enhancements in process for a future release (hopefully a near future release).

  • JMS Provider crash and All SAP Servers hang for a Lock

we have a problem with JMS Service and locks which hang all server.
This problem appears only when we activate a Dialog Instance. Starting
only one of the 4 dialog instance after 2 or 3 hours the portal hangs
and users are not able to logon or to access any KM resource.
The behavior is very strange because all java processes are up and
running and there is no CPUs usage.
After some attempts we discover that killing one dialog instance
process (we have to choose the right one) with the unix command "kill -
9 <pid>" the java process of the dialog instance restart due to
the "watch dog" and all other processes start to work well.
It seems that the dialog instance creates a lock and all other
processes are blocked by this lock. Killing the process the lock is
removed and the other processes can continue to work.
We checked the database and sessions opened between application server
and the database but we didn’t find any lock or pending query.
When this hang occurs the Visual Admin tool is not able to connect to
any java dispatcher, so we are not able to identify the status of each
server connected to the SAP cluster.

    Hi Anurag,
The only thing i have used the JDNI JMS queue for was for alerting. We have critical interfaces that are not allowed to have down time.
Created a component based alert. That causes an xml to be created in the queue. Then have a JMS channels that reads that queue and from there i send a soap message to our sms service providers.
Also use hermes to see if there are any messages stuck or waiting to be picked-up.
    PI Alerting on AAE/AEX
The queue has not given me trouble at all. The interface is running perfectly.
But you are talking about large number of orders. I dont see any problems. Would suggest just monitoring it closely and make sure that your system is always in tip top shape.

    Jannus Botha

  • OBIEE Server crash

    Hello Gurus:
I am having a server crash problem.
OBIEE server crashes around afternoon almost everyday.
error is "An error occurred contacting Oracle BI Presentation Services. If this problem persists, contact your ssytem admin. Error Codes: GDO7WNZA"
I tried to see the server log, it says
    nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: 28000 code: 18456 message: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'ETL_OLAP'..
    Few minutes before server crash.
I cant even restart the services.
And after I bounce the server, it says
[nQSError: 58030] The specified cache entry could not be loaded during initialization.
[nQSError: 52020] Cache entry, 'C:\OracleBIData\cache\NQS_733394_47613_00006309.TBL', is invlaid due to either non-existing file name, size does not match, exceeding maximum space limit nor exceeding maximum entry limit, and it's been removed.
    2008-12-16 14:06:55
So Is it because Users are trying to run BIG LONG reports?
also memory usage is very high in like 2 GBs or something.
    PLease help me with it.
    Thanks.
    ~Vinay

It's probalbly the running out of chache space.
It's not a good idea to have your cache file residing on the same drive as your OS. When it runs into disk size problem in can make your OS corrupt. Have a look here on cache management:

  • JDBC Adapter: J2EE server crashes while sending large messages

We want to use the following scenario to transfer data from a MS SQL Server to SAP BW via XI:
JDBC Sender Adapter – XI – SAP ABAP Proxy.
All works fine with a small amount of data. But if the select statement delivers too many record sets and the size of the transformed XML payload is greater then 50 MB the J2EE server crashes. A complete restart is necessary. It seems to be am memory problem.
Here are the entries from our log files:
    dev_server0
    [Thr 6151] Mon Jul 24 12:46:57 2006
[Thr 6151] JLaunchIExitJava: exit hook is called (rc=666)

    std_server0.out
FATAL: Caught OutOfMemoryError! Node will exit with exit code 666java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
Is this a general problem of the XI or a specific one of our configuration? Is it possible to transfer such large messages via XI? If not, is there a workaround for such scenarios?
(Memory heap size of the J2EE server is 1024 MB.)

    Hi Nimrod
In case of such an error I have no entries in channel monitor. So I can't see anything there. I have also no entries in message monitor of the RWB in this case. So I don't get any information with standard XI tools.

The problem is that the source of my data is not a simple SQL statement but a stored procedure. So I don't know exactly how many records will be delivered. A update command is not possible.

  • Server crashes

    Hi
We have been using the Netweaver Portal 7.0 for sometime.
But off late I'm noticing the Server crashing when ever I perform certain administration tasks (like creating JCo or enabling/refreshing web dynpro applications). I also configured the VM parameters according the SAP Note and it was performing well for all these days.
What I'm noticing now is the archive files <drive>:\usr\sap\SID\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\archive
will become too bulky and once I delete these filese the server starts up and begins functioning normally.
What is surprising is the archive folder increses very quickly and accomodates too much space.
Is there anyway to decreace the log files size in the above folder location?
    Please advice
    thanks
    -ms

    Hi MS,
u have used a word VM in ur question. I guess you are using VMWare for this.
To make EP work on VM, u need to have enough hard disk space on VM and the host machine too.
you need to have atleast 2.5 gb of RAM only for VM.
(more will be better if available)
you need to configure VMWare Server Console properly to run the VM smoothly.
There are tools availabel by which you can increase hard-disk space of your existing VM, without creating a new one. you can also try that.
hope that helps you to a certain extent.

  • Server crashes in VC Report (BPM reporting services) 503 Unavailable

    Hello All
We are facing a problem when try to access a VC Report. In the most cases, when I define filters in the Form filter zone of my report and push the event button (submit), the query hangs and the server crashes whit "Out of Memory" error.
Do you know why this happen?.
As a remark, the report only selects over one table (custom bpm reporting data source whit 7 fields) and there's not complex joins. We are running in NW CE 7.3 SP3 and all my VC components corresponds to this version correctly.
    Best Regards
    Julio C Leyva

    Hi Julio,
This problem is caused by a combination of:
    1. Huge amount of BPM data.
    2. Too little system resources.
    3. issues in the underlying layers that Visual Composer uses.
Please open a message on BC-BMT-BPM-ANA for this problem. I know they fixed it, but I don't know in which version.
    regards,
    Natty

  • Jrockit crashes due to outofmemory and illegal memory acces

    Hello,
We have been using jrmc-3.1.2-1.6.0 and lately we are seeing JVM crashes after every couple days. Note: We have been seeing these crashes recently , for last 1 year we did not see such crashes.
Following are different issues that we have seen over last few days:
    1. Crash due to illegal memory access
    2. Crash due to out of memory error
    3. Sever becoming unresponsive/Idle
For illegal memory access and out of memory crashes, there was jRockit dump file created and Dump file seems to be pointing at Jrockit libjvm.so module for the exception/crash.
    Any help would be appreciated!

From the command-line (-Dehcache.monitor.enabled=True) you are using some form of caching.
The out-of-memory occured as the JVM was unable the allocate an object: C Heap : 1 memory allocations have failed
Could you check how the live data set is going (or the memory leak detector)
Some concerns with regard to tune a JVM that runs a cache can be found here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7083
Note that the example given discusses Coherence, but can be adopted for another caching mechanism as well.

  • Enterprise Portal SAP Resources are not starting on Box2...

    Dear SAP World,
We implemented EP HA project using Two server boxes(2 server nodes). we are using first server box for SAP resources and second server box for Oracle DataBase resources. If i try to take SAP resources online on Box2 then SAP is failing to start over there.
I observed on Box2 using SAP MMC that always CI resources are trying to start before SCS starts over there that causes i am getting the following errors on default trace files, like some times CI Resources are not able to attach Message Server Port(3901) and some times CI resources failed to connect Enqueue Server Port(3201).

All the times we observed on Box2 that CI resources are trying to start before SCS resources starts.
There is no problem for SAP resources on Box1. Intitally We installed SAP on Box1 and did the configurations on Veritas Cluster Application for achieving switch over or High Avaliablity environment.
    Please kindly suggest the solution.
