Server detected a backward timestamp

Hi,
I have an application that records from the webcam to a file
on the server. Recently the application instance has stopped
responding, however the server and the other apps are up and
running fine. I am running 2.0.3 on Windows 2003 Standard Server.
Here is the event viewer information:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: FMS (Core)
Event Category: (261)
Event ID: 1363
Date: 1/10/2007
Time: 7:28:02 PM
User: N/A
Computer: RTU001
Description:
Server detected a backward timestamp from 14095 to 13311 in
file:
\\rtu011\fmscontent\recorder\_definst_\100012350-1168475269000
Any ideas?

Mike

  • Server detected a backward timestamp from 1973406 to 0 in file

    In my core.log file I'm receiving these error messages;
    Server detected a backward timestamp from 1973406 to 0 in file:C:\FMSHOME\applications\livepkgr\streams\_definst_\bbc1
    Server detected a backward timestamp from 1973406 to 0 in file:C:\FMSHOME\applications\livepkgr\streams\_definst_\bbc2
    Is this an issue caused by the encoder? I'm using a Viewcast Niagara to encode and not the FMLE. These are the only settings I have available.
    I'm using all default settings on the FMS 4.5 server.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    I'm checking again with Viewcast support .I don't see how I can check whether ATC is enabled on the encoder. Since it's a portable contained streaming appliance.
    The last response I got from them was.
    "Does this happen every time or only when you restart the profile shortly after stopping it? As a rule time codes are always an off set from 0. However, it does not matter what the time code is. It just matters that the server doesn't get an out of sequence time code. So if you stop an encoder and then start it too quickly you can send a time code to the server before the server has completely torn down the previous stream. You should wait several seconds before restarting a stream."

  • (e)2611363      Server detected a backward timestamp

    Hi to all,
    I'm doing an application similar to dailymotion.com to record
    via webcam a video.
    I set a bufferlength to 1000sec (i.e), so when I stop the
    recording I can wait to do out_ns.close until the buffer.length =
    0.
    the problem is that sometimes making test on an adsl
    connection, on my fms test server the stream saved is like freezed
    for seconds, and in the log file core.00.log I have an error like:
    (e)2611363 Server detected a backward timestamp from 38851 to
    38844 in file:
    /usr/local/fms/applications/rec/streams/_definst_/09ad762ff257aba44d4aa735b6eb9fcd_987
    whats the matter?
    anyone could help me on this?
    thanks in advance for your time

    There is a concept of Absolute Time Code which enables the encoders to publish the livestream based on absolute system time rather than starting the messages from timestamp 0 everytime you append to a recording.
    I suspect you encoder is starting everytime from 0 timestamp but since the server already has recording till some time - say x, for the server these are backward timestamps and hence the continous warnings.
    Also to safeguard FMS against such conditions and cause memory crashes, we only allow messages with backward timestamps to accumulate in the process queue upto a limit and then the recording is stopped. Thats why you are observing the errors -
    "Error from libf4f.dll: Total number of messages waiting to be recorded has exceeded the limit.    -
    2011-12-28    19:23:38    4020    (e)2611423    Failed to record bbc2011-BBC91 (Unknown Error).    -"
    Try to check your encoder settings for stream synchronization or ATC settings and enable them.

  • Backward timestamp

    I am using simple record, but it is not recording properly,
    playback is showing still video, audio is running, at last moments
    video runs very fast without audio.
    Management console always displays several lines like this
    Server detected a backward timestamp from 60332 to
    60056

    Did you ever get any info on this? I'm running into
    "Backwards Timestamp" errors on every stream I record and I can't
    find any info on it.
    Thanks,
    Justin

  • Sockets: How can server detect that client is no longer connected?

    Hi,
    I really need help and advice with the following problem:
    I have a Client - Server socket program.
    The server listens on port 30000 using a server socket on one machine
    The client connects to localhost on port 20000, previously creating an ssh port forward connection using the Jsch package from www.jcraft.com with
    "session.setPortForwardingL(20000, addr, 30000);"
    Then the client sends Strings to the server using a PrintWriter.
    Both are connected to each other through the internet and the server uses a dynamic dns service.
    This all works well until the IP address of the Server changes, The client successfully reconnects to the server using the dynamic dns domain name, but the server keeps listening on the old socket from the previous connection, while opening a new one for the new client connection. The server doesn't seem to notice that Client has disconnected because of this IP address change.
    looks like the server is stuck inside the while loop. If i cut the connection manually on the client side, the server seems to notice that the client has disconnected, and jumps out of the while look (see code below)
    this is the code I'm using for the server:
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.InputStreamReader;
    import java.net.Socket;
    import java.util.logging.Logger ;
    public class SocketHandler extends Thread {
        static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger("Server.SocketHandler");
        private Socket clientSocket = null;
        private BufferedReader in = null;
        private InputStreamReader inReader = null;
        public SocketHandler(Socket clientSocket) throws IOException {
            this.clientSocket = clientSocket;
            inReader = new InputStreamReader(clientSocket.getInputStream ());
            in = new BufferedReader(inReader);
        public void run() {
            try {
                String clientMessage = null;
                while ((clientMessage = in.readLine()) != null) {
                    logger.info("client says: " + clientMessage);
            } catch (IOException e) {
                logger.severe(e.getMessage());
                e.printStackTrace();
            } finally {
                try {
                    logger.info("closing client Socket: " + clientSocket);
                    clientSocket.close();
                    in.close();
                    ServerRunner.list.remove(clientSocket);
                    logger.info("currently "+ServerRunner.list.size()+" clients connected");
                } catch (IOException e) {
                    logger.severe (e.getMessage());
                    e.printStackTrace();
    }I've tried making the server create some artificial traffing by writing some byte every few seconds into the clients OutputStream. However I get no exceptions when the IP address changes. The server doesn't detect a disconnected socket connection.
    I'd really appreciate help and advice

    If a TCP/IP peer is shut down "uncleanly", the other end of the connection doesn't get the final end of connection packet, and read() will wait forever. close() sends the final packet, as will killing the peer process (the OS does the close()). But if the OS crashes or for some other reason can't send the final packet, the server never gets notification that the peer has gone away.
    Like you say, one way is timeout, if the protocol is such that there always is something coming in at regular intervals.
    The other way is a heartbeat. Write something to the other end periodically, just some kind of "hello, I'm here, ignore this message". The other end doesn't even have to answer. If the peer has gone away, TCP will retransmit your heartbeat message a few times. After about a minute it will give up, and mark the socket as broken. read() will then throw an IOException. You could send heartbeats from the client too, so that the client detects if the server computer dies.
    TCP/IP also has a TCP-level heartbeat; see Socket.setKeepAlive(). The heartbeat interval is about two hours, so it takes it a while to detect broken connections.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 Readiness Checks: No Exchange 2007 server detected

    Hi there,
    We are planning to upgrade our current Exchange 2007 server with the new Exchange 2013 SP1. I have been following Exchange Server Deployment Assistant to assist me with this task. Only schema update (setup /PrepareSchema) had been done so
    far. I didn’t run setup /PrepareAD command manually because I wasn’t sure if I need to provide ‘Organisation Name’ with it or not?! I have installed all of the prerequisites as noted in the Microsoft documentation.
    Now, I am a bit confuse with the ‘Readiness Checks’ page during graphical user installation of Exchange 2013 SP1 setup on Windows 2012 R2. Windows 2012 R2 server has all available updates applied.
    ===
    Warning:
    Setup will prepare the organization for Exchange 2013 by using 'Setup /PrepareAD'. No Exchange 2010 server roles have been detected in this topology. After this operation, you will not be able to install any Exchange 2010 servers.
    For more information, visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.NoE14ServerWarning.aspx
    ===
    I get the message why setup wants to run preparation for the Ex2013 with the ‘Setup /PrepareAD’. But, why ‘No Exchange 2010 server role have been detected in this topology’?! Ok, in my case setup doesn’t detect Exchange 2007 server. Is that ok to proceed
    with the installation or something else needs to be done first?
    Thanks in advance.

    I need Exchange guru advice here please. Since we already have Exchange 2007 SP3 RU 10 in our Windows 2008R2 Active Directory domain here I need to be 100% confident that pushing Exchange 2013 SP1 “Install” will not override our existing Ex2007 environment.
    That would be a huge disaster!
    Microsoft is saying that: “Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Setup displayed this warning because
    no Exchange Server 2010 or Exchange Server 2007 server roles exist in the organization.”
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.NoE14ServerWarning.aspx
    Ok, I get the message about if I continue with Exchange Server 2013 installation, I won’t be able to add Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2007 servers to the organization at a future date..., and why would I need to do that anyway?!
    Microsoft wording about “some solutions may require the use...” are very confusing since we will require to consider “Coexistence or migration requirements"
    Perhaps, before running Exchange 2013 SP1 setup I need to run setup for preparing AD without “Organisation Name” parameter?! Something like this:
    setup /PrepareAD  /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

  • SQL-Server detection/discovery does not work in win 10 build 10041

    Hello,
    I'm using the default .NET-function to detect SQL-server-instances in the network. It works fine in win xp, win7, win8 up to win 2012r2. It also works in earlier win 10 builds, but it's broken in build 10041.
    It's reproduceable with the powershell-call
    [System.Data.Sql.SqlDataSourceEnumerator]::Instance.GetDataSources()
    On other systems the function call takes about 10 to 15 seconds before returning a list of SQL instances in the network. Under win 10 build 10041 it returns immedeately without any results.
    Please fix this problem before the final build!

    I've only a virtual machine with windows 10 installed. So it's really annoying, that I have to log on on to check the state or the "me too" count of my feedback-post. Would be great if this post is reachable through the web from other (pre windows
    10) machines.

    The text file was immediately picked up and imported.  This thus proves that (1) MDIS is functioning, (2) user / password is correct.  Unfortunately you will also see from the log above that when I changed the port back to run on XML the problem has not been resolved.
    Any ideas?

    We use ftp to transfer the log files from the another country to here, I confirmed the file's MD5(checksum) is same as the copy in client's environment, we have tried to upload the file a couple of times, same outcome.
    The full backup is fine, I have successfully restored a series log backups prior to this file.
    Has anyone seen this issue before? It is strange, all information indicates the file is good,but somehow it goes wrong.

    Hi Albert,
    The above error message usually indicates that there is a problem with underlying storage system or the hardware or a driver that is in the path of the I/O request. You can encounter this error when there are inconsistencies in the file system or if the database
    file is damaged.
    Besides other suggestions, consider to use the
    SQLIOSim utility to find out if these errors can be reproduced outside of regular SQL Server I/O requests and change
    your databases to use the PAGE_VERIFY CHECKSUM option.

  • FMIS restarting and memory issue

    I have Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5.5 on Windows 2008 server. I developed video chat application (many to many), it's only 1 FMS application with about 50-100 room instances and 1 lobby instance to which all users are connected. There are up to 600 - 700 users at a time which produce about 2000-2500 connections to FMS.
    Problem I have is with steady raise of memory usage, which if goes little above 2GB will make FMS unresponsive and it would restart itself after about 1-2hours. To avoid that Im restarting FMS manualy every 3-4 days. Interesting thing I noticed is that if I restart FMS from admin console, used RAM memory won't fall at levels as if it would right after whole Windows server is restarted.
    In my Application.xml there are following configs:
    <Scope></Scope>
    <Distribute numprocs="3">Instances</Distribute>
    These are things from logs during FMS unresponsive period or right before it:

    Please help me with this issue.

    Thanks for your answers, I'm replying with delay because I wanted to check these things some more.
    When I said 'memory is not less', I meant that total memory in Windows after FMS restart doesn't return to memory levels when Windows is restarted, but I guess that's because of some Windows processes and not connected to FMS.
    As for FMS processes, these are the things are notice, few hours after FMS restart I get 1 FMSCore.exe that is around 200-220MB, and 3-4 FMSCore's that are around 40-70MB. Size of that largest FMSCore.exe doesn't go down even when there are much less users connected to FMS. And like I said before, after 3 or more days of running FMS becomes unresponsive, and restarts itself. Right after FMS restart largest FMSCore.exe weights around 70MB but 15mins after it's already 120MB as users connect to video chat application.
    As for logs, my core.log files have several lines like:
